HI,
I was just wondering what people's favorite game is! You can post your video game history as well if you want!
My current favorite game is Fallout New Vegas. I have played this game on the Xbox360 many times and memorized most parts of the game. So I when I got a good PC one of my top buys were to get FNV (for PC) then I started to mod it so much.
My past favorite video game (series) is Pokemon. I started playing it on the n64 with pokemon stadium then a friend gave me FireRed as a gift so I started to play that. Soon afterwards, I got a DS Lite and I got pokemon Diamond. Then I started to get every pokemon game from then on.
So, what have been your favorite games?
Edit: We need a steam group for mtgsally. I dont want to lead it but I want to be an admin or something. Lets make the group happen!
I am trying to get better at making decks. I have had trouble creating more competitive decks as I only really build with the cards I have. I dont have that many value cards, in function or expense. I (almost) never play at FNM type events so its not like im playing against $2k decks. If I do usally play at one, Its a draft or limited game. Any advice on building decks is greatly supported! DMs are appreciated.
Thank you!
To put it more simply, it's like saying, "I can prove Jesus is real and loves you. See? Here's my Hispanic friend Jesus. He's had a crush on you for a long time. Tell em' Jesus."
Here's a joke! Whats the internal temperature of a Taun-Taun?
Demon Souls. I love the challenge of the game, it's overwhelming sense of being alone, and prefer it to it's newer siblings. While Demon Souls 1 gave you pretty much the same feeling of being alone, DKS 2 and Bloodborn didn't quite live up to the original in my book. Demon Souls also has more than a few levels that punish you for not using the right type of weapon, something missing from the Dark Souls and Bloodborn games. Going fro 1-1 into 2-1 without switching out to your Mail Breaker was punishing. I also feel that Demon Souls had the best level design, tied with that of Demon Souls 1.
Going off topic, Bloodborn was a real let down for me. While it's extremely similar, it's no shield, deal damage to regain a small amount of health system, really took a lot of the fun out of the game for me. It forced you into a very fast paced and hectic combat, which was something you could do in it's predecessors, while removing the slower paced combat style you could get by using the shield and blocking mechanics.
Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1&2, Bloodborne. No other game I've played has required that sheer level of finesse and strategy. Awareness of the enemies, types, numbers, position. Using the landscape by luring and isolating enemies. Learning to fit that into your own strengths and weapon set. It's a bit like playing "The Art of War".
I can remember playing the games for the first time (forget if it was Dark Souls 1 or Demon's Souls) and dying repeatedly for 3 hours on the same short section of a bridge at the very start of the game. Then meeting my first Black Knight after finally getting a bit further. The learning curve is so steep, but that is the real pleasure of it.
Demon's Souls for me as well. The game is a perfect examplar of how deliberate design may elevate an artwork beyond the level where lack of polish can harm it. Beyond the numerous means to horribly cheese almost every boss, the large number of overtuned weapons/mechanics and similar oversights is a game with unparalleled atmosphere and level design. I love figuring out obscure mechanics, mastering punishing games, ARPGs with iframe mechanics, slow and/or subtle stories, tone-centric art, and innovative mechanics... so it's practically made for me.
Not sure how many hours I've spent on Demon's Souls, but I'm positive it's 4 figures and that it would be much more if the community had not dried up.
I have still yet to play Bloodborne (soon), but Dark Souls' inferior level design and combat mechanics did not quite make up for its increased content and polish in other areas. I think the general distaste towards DaS2 is overblown or sometimes flat out wrong, but did not appreciate it as much either.

I only had two complaints about DKS 2, and that was poor level design (every level was cliff of death) and the heavy inclusion of multiplayer. I never felt like the game was truly a single player game like the others. I have yet to see someone take out the Ancient Dragon alone, which really bums me out. Still a fun game, but just not on the level of the others. As for Bloodborne, if you where a fan of duel wielding weapons in the previous games at all times, it's really fun. I was more of your typical Grass Crest Shield player, and didn't like the change.
Ancient Dragon is pretty easy to solo actually as long as you know how to handle the fire breath.
I agree that the level design had issues but I think people overrate DaS 1's. Lots of *****tily-done areas because they were rushed. We can agree that DeS' was the best.

In my younger years: Tetris. Pokemon B/R/Y. Pokemon Pinball. Super Mario World. Super Mario World 2. Super Smash Bros series. Halo series.
In my older years: Tetris. Pokemon Pinball. Halo series. Forza series.
Civ 2 and Civ 4 (I like 2 more, but the go-to function doesn't really work; could use a graphics update as well).
We're showing our age here mondu, but who cares? Civ 2 is definitely on the top of my list!
Also among that list is StarCraft/Broodwar and the Quake series; I have fond memories of playing Quake III with my college roomies whenever we could get a game in.
I wouldn't call it a favorite, but I did lose a lot of hours with Roller Coaster Tycoon (and its ilk).
Oh. I can't forget Tie-Fighter and X-Wing Alliance. Excellent aerial games! But in space! and Star Wars! And you could customize your own battle scenarios (at least, with Alliance)! Friggin' great stuff!
(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.

All of the Donkey Kong Country games, Super Mario 3D World, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Radiant Historia, Shovel Knight, all of the Trails games (or at least the three that have been released in NA), Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and Crash Bandicoot 2.
All good stuff! I wouldn't classify many as personal favorites persay, but those are games I gravitate towards when browsing a collection and such.
I'm glad arcades are making a comeback, at least in my area... so who doesn't like the classic Galaga?
Also Card Slinger J, thank you for bringing up some more of my favorites that slipped my memory. Sadly, they shouldn't have. I have such great memories with friends playing endless hours of Golden Eye and Mario Kart 64.
On random weekend visits home from college, the night before I would be returning to school, a mere 3.5 hours away (give or take), my friends and I would stay up and play those games late into the morning... like 3 or 4 a.m Eventually, I'd have to break away = needed a nap and pack up some stuff before heading back off yonder. But damn were those nights full of fun and laughter.
And how could I have forgotten friggin' Earthworm Jim?!?!

A lot of the games I listed are either ones that I once owned, rented, played at my local Arcade, or just had a mutual nostalgia for. There's an Arcade section at one of the local card shops I play at where they switch machines from time to time though I haven't gotten around to playing them lately since I've been too busy playing Trading Card Games / Collectible Card Games nowadays.

I'm also a big fan of all ID software's old arena shooters. They just don't make unrealistic shooters like they used to.
For me my favorites are the first six megaman games on the NES and the Zelda series and the Final Fantasy series. I can't wait for Mighty No. 9 to come out on Tuesday.

That's the truth. I wish we got more crazy, wacky shooters rather than COD 15 and its imitators.
Serious Sam was a pretty good game along those lines. The last one I played was on the Xbox/Gamecube. I'm unsure if they ever made more. Fun game if you haven't played it though.

In my older years: Tetris. Pokemon Pinball. Halo series. Forza series.
Street Fighter Zero 3. I think I have every version for every console except the Dreamcast one.
Front Mission 4. I think I spent close to 2000 hours on that. WOuld play it again if my PS2 were still intact.
Ultima. This is more of nostalgia, though, as the interface and graphics are too bad by today's standards.

In terms of what games I've played the most often or the most hours? I'll just use 'Over 100 hours' here as the metric.
