Guinness is the best "all day Sunday" beer in my opinion.
Cheap: National Bohemian (gotta represent Baltimore, you know), or Natty Light (although because it's so weak you can end up drinking something like ten of them without realizing you've done it, and that can lead to some problems)
Craft: I have really been enjoying my local brewer Heavy Seas, and sort-of-local Dogfish Head. Not sure how widely distributed either are, but Dogfish 60 minute and Heavy Seas Loose Cannon are kind of my go-to beers.

I'm not really a fan of any of the local beers (like Flying Dog)
Since I started tattooing I haven't had much time to brew, but I've still got half a keg of a strong ale hopped up and down with Chinook - my personal favorite. After spending a month straight drinking daily (in there a 4 day drunk to Bend, OR) I've sort of called it off for a while though. My waistline and liver are needing some time off.
I got a Beer of the Month thing from my wife and in the mail I just got some Sparkling Ale from the bay area that's made with champagne yeast and something from a little brewery in Chicago. While I haven't been able to open them up just yet they do look fancy as ****.
Basically. I'm not big on the beer terminology (I leave that to my friends), but a love a smoother tasting beer. Things like IPAs have to much bitter aftertaste for me to really enjoy them.
The Old Bay Beer violated the Geneva convention. So undrinkable.
I have a case of the stuff. This type of comment that will get you kicked out of Baltimore. If you aren't decked out in Ravens or O's gear right now and eating Utz chips, get out.

Even though I'm in the heart of IPA country I don't usually like hoppy stuff. Or blonde ales for that matter. End up usually choosing between 2 or 3 stouts among the tens of IPAs when I go to a brewery here. Could use more porter representation too.
I'm just bracing myself for all the goddamn pumpkin swill that's going to be brought to parties that I host :/
Speaking of that, I actually decided to try Pumpkin Down from Ballast Point because pumpkin Scottish Ale sounded relatively interesting (and I trust Ballast Point a lot more than most breweries). Turns out it's pretty okay.

If you happen to stop by Missoula, Montana, you can't go wrong with Cold Smoke. It's a hearty Scotch Ale brewed by Kettlehouse. If you're near Chicago/Indiana, you owe it to yourself to try some Zombie Dust, brewed by Three Floyd's. As for myself, I am currently enjoying a nice glass of Daisy Cutter, brewed in Chicago by Half Acre.
Boddingtons or Guinness is my regular order in bars. Usually Boddingtons. There was this one place where I had to order a Boddingtons by ordering a Bumblebee without the Guinness, because for some reason they had the Bumblebee on their drinks list but not the Boddingtons that goes into it.
There's also a local brewery in Lincoln called Zipline whose beers are uniformly really good (except the IPA, but that's because it's an IPA, it's not Zipline's fault). These days if you go to my fridge for a beer it's pretty much always a Zipline Kölsch you'll find.

Vive, vale. Siquid novisti rectius istis,
candidus inperti; si nil, his utere mecum.
Amber Bock is my favorite. Followed by, in no particular order; Corona Extra, Guinness, Budweiser, Kraftig Lager, and Tsing Tao.
I tend to like lighter beers, or dark beers. Not on the hoppy side, though. Local breweries around here, O'Fallon and Schlaflys, make their own awesome beers. Especially their fall beers, Pumpkin and Oktoberfests.
St. Louis is an awesome city to live in if you like beer. Even if you don't like Anheuser-Busch beers.
Place by my place serves killer burgers and has an incredible rotating craft beer list--most of it is on tap.
Last time I went I enjoyed Baxter Tarnation--fantastic brew. Before that Ommegang Spiced Saison. That one changed my life.
Right now? I heard that this new Not Your Father's Root Beer from Small Town Brewery is boss so I grabbed a pack on the way home from work. Honestly, it's awesome. Nice vanilla tasting root beer, very aromatic---think fresh A&W or (if you've had it) Virgil's. 6% APV and you can't even taste it.
This is my first post. My 2 hobbies are craft beer and mtg. I just moved to Portland and miss playing magic with my buddies back home. This thread popped up when I googled craft beer and magic. Currently drinking a Heater Allen pils and 6 months since my last game of magic. The beer here? The best. But God dammit I miss my game!
Christ, you people are a bunch of ******* heathens. How can you guys discuss beer without discussing the best beer in the world: trappists?
La Trappe double.
Well, some of the Trappists are the best in the world. I wouldn't put Chimay, Orval, or Achel among them.
But Westmalle Dubbel and Tripel are pretty much always crowdpleasers. Rochefort 10 is a great quad, and used to be my favorite beer. Westvleteren 12 is great, but is extremely difficult to get.
Incidentally, there's been two recent Trappist additions in the past few years. St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, MA is the first American Trappist brewery, brewing Spencer Trappist Ale, which is a Belgian pale ale. Solid, but pricey. Then there's Engelszell in Austria. And in 2014, breweries have opened in the Netherlands and Italy.

It's delicious. I'm not sure why they call it an "ale with spices" when I'm pretty positive it's hard root beer, not actual beer, but I don't even care. Stuff's fantastic. It's alcoholic, which is fun, but it's also a damn good root beer in its own right. I think it might be the best one I've had in the US.

Actually, I'm not a huge fan of Rochefort. Had some bad experiences with them being way too foamy in the mouth. Both yeah, Westmalle is great, La Trappe is great. I should see if I can get my hands on Westfleteren or some of the none-Belgian trappists, but there isn't a really great liquor store near where I live, as far as I know.

If I'm a little more serious, I'm a Guinness man.

If you're a cider man, and agree with me that Strongbow's recipe change was a war crime, I can't recommend Wyndridge highly enough. Very "dry".
I agree that Flying Dog is VERY hit or miss. (OYSTER STOUT, WITH OYSTER FLAVOR! BUT... WHYYYY?)

I really like what the Germans do with there beer. Windhoek Lager is one of the better local ones along with the classic Castle Lager.
