So I am opening my own gaming store in the next few months. I have already sat down with the bank and lawyers and I am well on my way to getting everything set in stone. I came to find out the name the I have chosen was already trade marked. So I come to you for help.
Misclick- I did not know that. I figured if the name was not trade marked that I could us it.
Greyling- At first I will be focusing on mostly Magic the gathering, Yugiho, hero clix, Maple Story, and WoW since them games seem to have a good following in my area. I also will be selling other basics like dice, play mats, sleeves, deck boxs, binders, etc. We plan on having a game room that cant fit up to at least 50 people. But also having to expaned if need be down the road if we start getting a bigger turn out to events.
I dont want anything like dragon's den or names like that.

It's their intellectual property; if they can prove you used their name to make money, they can sue.

The Game Room?
...ah, heck, I'm terrible with names, I think it'd be kind of kewl to call a store Neckbeard's.
I've always liked military style names, cause no matter what game you play, it always seems your doing battle...
Gonna play any Warhammer??

I played Warhammer about 10 years ago but havent played in awhile. I dont see or here about to many Warhammer players in the area. I know we have a games workshop about 20-30 mins away at the mall. Even when at the mall I dont see many people in the store. I most likey will held back a bit on Warhammer and if I start seeing people coming in asking about it then I will maybe order some stuff to see how it goes.
The big thing right now in the area is yugioh and then magic. I plan on holding 2 game nights a week for both of them. Then see based on what people come in the store looking for branch out to other games and add game nights for them.
Sweet, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you prosper... Opening a LGS is a dream come true...

Thank you. The only issue I see is ill still be working my full time job and running the store. I have a friend that will be working there for me so that helps. The one thing I am sad about is when I run magic events I wont be able to play since it would look back if the store owner was playing in his own events. So a lot less magic. But... ill have so many cards. lol
From a business stand point I think you're better off including the word "game" in the name. You're much more likely to get people who are shopping for their loved ones who game that way as well as people who want to get into it but don't know where to start. It's a good way to get extra traffic into your store and that means more $$$. With a name like Mana Vault you're only going to attract people that are already well versed in gaming and know what that means. I personally feel that "(name of town) games" or "(name of town) gaming" works well. It's simple and to the point.
Really, Magic is a Mind Sport... as are other CCGs. It appeals to the parents
And the name immediately evokes MtG as well, so people will recognize it as an MtG place.
Mindsports Dojo
Something with Mindsports.I just like the idea of marketing it as something positive rather than just fun & games. It is a sport, and its about time Magic was treated as a mind sport.
Many places in my town throw in the word "hobby" in their name. I think, however, it denotes more of the modeling/RC scene. It confused me for a while because I did not go some places thinking they sold only such hobby store items.
The word "game(s)" would be nice in the title even if it were not an accentuated part of the business (e.g. XX's Game and Card Shop)

Agreed, every time I see a "Hobby Store" I assume it is for model cars and R/C car races and so on...Game(s) is a better naming strategy...
My LGS actually sells tons of "Board games" to walk in customers. They are mostly collectors editions of famous games but he also sells underground boardgames too. He also deals in console games (new and used) as well as full blown arcade machines. He would probably not get that $$$ if the name didn't have "Game" in it.

Dear kbx41,
You have received a warning at MTG Salvation Forums.
Reason:
-------
Flaming or Other Forms of Misbehavior
Saying that you sometimes wish people (in this case the implication is the staff) would fall down a well and get AIDS is hardly appropriate for the forum.
The TCP Hub (the trading, collectable, paraphernalia) Hub?
honestly, having Paraphernalia in the name would be a gateway into getting people to come and try and buy drug paraphernalia. Generally with names you want something short and sweet. The Game Depot displays what you have in the store and will attract people.

House of Cards/Comics/Games, several different ways to go about branding. Has an Asian flair or a medieval flavor if you want it. It also states what the store does.
Comic Book Clan, shortened to "CBC" allows for flexible allegories to various mythological and medieval points.

Ambition must be made to counteract ambition.
Individualities may form communities, but it is institutions alone that can create a nation.
Nothing succeeds like the appearance of success.
Here is my principle: Taxes shall be levied according to ability to pay. That is the only American principle.
2. What are you selling specifically? What kind of games? Are there comics? Are there arcade games? Warhammer or other miniatures? What about tournaments?
You already said you're selling Yugioh and such, so cards are definitely in. What else?
3. What's your gimmick?
4. What specific customer base do you wish to attract?
5. Any noteworthy or interesting trivia about the area you're opening in?

Some names I have thought of:
- Gamers Anonymous
- Mana Vault
That’s what I have so far.
What do you guys think?

Gamers United has the same effect.
I do agree. I have a feeling that people might come looking for game addiction help. lol
My friend said I should call it card board crack dealer.
I hate trying to pick a name again. The first time was hard enough.

Card Board Crack Dealer is funny to me, but if I had a 7 year old son into Yugioh I don't know if I'd feel comfortable dropping him off there.
