My favorites at the moment are Dos Equis (amber), Old Style, and Grolsch.
Rogue isn't that exclusive anymore. They've become a regular name over the past decade, probably has something to do with most of their beer being good :). In any case it has been available at most liquor stores in Illinois for at least 8 years.
Just you wait until Nathan gets in here, he'll teach everyone a thing or ten about awesome beer.
Personally, I don't have an exceptional lot of experience with beers apart from domestics. Though the famed local brand (Keith's) has a delightful red, white and stout. I also got into darks and stouts in the past year or so, but I couldn't tell you which is my favorite. I tried most of them as part of a taster selection at this awesome bar that has 60 different drafts, including some that are rare on this coast.
My favorites are:
Dale's Pale Ale - Best beer in a can anywhere. Why other micros don't use cans is beyond me.
Widmer's Drop Top Pale Ale - It's just good.
Millstream - Small batch stuff made at the Amana Colonies in Iowa. They are a good bunch of guys.
And for those of you who grew up with Fat Tire, do you remember they used to have a ton of yeast on the bottom and instructions how to pour the beer and save the yeast for last? Ah, the days before AB bought a commanding insterest....
1. Franziskaner Dark (A dark white beer? **** yeah!)
2. Chimay Red
3. Optimator
Only American beer I like is Yuengling, but you can't get it outside of Pittsburgh or Miami as far as I know. (Found out about it when I was going to school in Miami)

I live in Milwaukee which is known for beer and drunks, but mostly people getting drunk off of beer.
As such I have tried a multitude of different beers and here are my top 3.
1. Kirin's Ichiban
Have to say this beer might be my favorite because of how much I drank it in Japan and what the beer represents towards me, but since comming back whenever I can find a Kirin Ichiban and drink it, it tastes better than I remember.
2. Sprecher's Pub Ale
One of the best Ales I've ever had, and I do enjoy my Ales.
3. Clearwater's Satin Solstice
This is a dark, buttery beer that is really hard to define, but is really good, and especially goes well with pretzals and any stong-mild, pungent, or mild cheese, such as Brei or Limburger.
1: Wychwood Hobgoblin Dark Ale (England)
2: Breckenridge Vanilla Porter (Colorado)
3: Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout (England)
I like my beer dark. So dark I can't see through the damn glass dark.

I've seen Anchor Porter at my local shops, but even the one that carries a ton of foreign and small-scale craft beers doesn't carry those last two from what I've seen. Have to keep my eyes peeled for those in the future.

Although I used to hate them, I'm getting pretty fond of both Heinekin and Rickards Red. Bud and Coors are nice tasting but far too light, I chuck them up every time.

1-Guiness. Say what you will I love a stout I can freaking live off of.
2-New Castle. Again... Stout.
3-Old english. Technically a 40's beer but I loves it.

Amen, brother! Liquid bread, baby. However, Guinness sank in my opinion recently since it seems the bottled beer has been rather... thin tasting, kind of a funny aftertaste. Not sure what it is, the bottles are opaque, sun damage shouldn't be an issue, but the only time I get good Guinness is when I go to a tavern and get it on tap. Meanwhile, many other bottled stouts beat it on store shelves. Not sure what it is, really.

I take it you've not had many higher end European beers. That type of head is not uncommon.
That's actually why they use that particular style of glass - it permits a large head to allow the aroma of the beer to dominate while at the same time keeping the foam from getting all over your face when you take a sip.

Yuengling is everywhere in Baltimore, and it is one of my least favorite beers of all time. Xp
In no particular order:
Leffe Blond
Unibroue La Fin du Monde
Unibroue Maudite
Unibroue Don de Dieu
Rogue Deadguy Ale
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Weihenstephaner
I used to have a roommate who worked in a warehouse. He got a box of Delirium Tremens that had been damaged - only 1 bottle down. So we drank that for months - it was cool at first, but after a while I got tired of it. There are smoother ales on lees with slightly less alcohol content that are simply more enjoyable to drink.
@thread: Listen to extremeicon on beers. He wasn't born, he was tapped.

You'll note Yuengling didn't make my list of top 3 beers, so I'm hardly saying it's the best thing ever. As far as ****** American beer goes, that's really the only one I can enjoy at all.

Hmmm, gonna have to make 2 as stouts are in a whole separate category for me.
Stouts:
1: Kern River Brewing Co.'s Class V stout.
2: Humboldt Brewing Co's Oatmeal Stout
3: New Belgium's 1554 Stout.
Not Stouts:
1: Lost Coat Brewing Co's Great White
2: Dos Equis
3: Lost Coat Brewing Co's Tangerine Wheat
Really, I mostly only drink local beers, they're only 10 million times greater than everything else IMO. Though some Bud with on Friday pizza days at my old work was fine too.

Honorable mention, ROGUE's Dead Guy's Ale goes great with barbecue chicken, but ROGUE ale's are pretty much exclusive to the Pacific Northwest.

3- Blue Moon w/ a FAT orange slice
