For me, I love my job. I work as a newscast assistant (paid go-fer) /producer/graphics editor (depending on the day) at a local TV station. It's always a little bit different, sometimes fabulously busy (I'm a Type A personality, so I like the work), and I love to write and edit. It lets me get creative (if I've got time), surf the web for downtime, and really know what's going on in my community/nation. Oh yeah, and having female co-workers that are wayyy easy on the eyes, BONUS! Unless they are divas. Then it sucks. A lot.

Scott Adams... Nothing defines humans better than their willingness to do irrational things in the pursuit of phenomenally unlikely payoffs. This is the principle behind lotteries, dating, and religion
I'm still in college (CS major, Japanese minor), and part of how I handle working is that I don't work at school (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire) except for short-term labor or development. When I'm out of school, I work quite a bit during those occasions.
The last 3 summers, I've worked in some form at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a few departments on their IT staff; the first year was as a contractor for 2 departments, basically doing some projects they needed done; the second year a student employee for 3 departments, as part of their IT staff and as the only programmer of the group. This summer I'm back there, which has expanded to 4 deptartments, and I'll be taking over as the IT administrator for August while the admin is away; I'm also working at a 5th department as a short-term network admin while they're between full-timers. (I was offered the job full-time at the 5th dept., but I just can't keep myself away from school next semester)
I enjoy most of the work, mostly because it's very open-ended; there is very little structure in the staff since things get done, so I can spend time on things that interest me as well as benefit the group. (for instance, I'm going to be spending most of the rest of the summer working on building a SUSE Linux system to supplant the current server setup being used) It also gives me some good resume items, without being too stressful on my summer.
My job is peachy.
I sell movies to video stores. I get to sit in a comfy chair in a cubicle and talk to video store owners on the phone all day about what movies and quantities they should bring into their stores to rent and/or sell.
During my breaks and lunches that are too hot to walk outside, I sit in a conference room that has been converted into a game room and play Rock Band and/or Guitar Hero.
Yeah, it's a tough life!
I am transitioning from "living in and out of home, and making money here and there" to "I need to move out and get a career".
I currently work in a public library, and work on web design, as a workhorse (I'm the only guy that works there, so I get the grunt work...), and occasionally shelving, checking out, etc (though I've kinda been "upgraded" from that recently). Pretty easy job, and making about $8.50 an hour (decent for library staff). However, low hours and living in a small town mean that I need to not only give up cheap rents and slow jobs for the bigger city to persue...
Acting and Illustration!? Yeah. Actor/Illustrator/Concept Artist/etc... It's quite the move, right outside of NYC, but I should be doing pretty well once I get the whole transition over with. -_- Freelance= awesome, but it also means hard work. But I love doing it, so I think I'm off to a good start.
no. i work at mcdonalds. i haven't started yet but i know that it's going to suck hard.
Who's that for foreshading? Heheheh, try at least to think you're gonna meet some new and probably interesting people. With that mindset you're gonna suffer

I neither hate nor love my job, depending on its busy days. I work at a banquet facility that hosts a bunch of weddings and golf tournaments during the summer, I'm primarily a banquet server. The pay's pretty good, and perks include getting to wear a tuxedo every day to work, eating high class wedding dinners for free, and working with a ton of pretty girls. The reason why I don't love it is because it can be long and arduous (my second day ever was a 12 hour shift), or it can be slow and boring, depending on the event. I guess I can't complain, but I'm certainly not looking to make a career out of it. It pays for my Magic cards.

I'd love to work at a McDonald's. You get to eat fries all day and you can swipe some Happy Meal toys. Yeah, some of them are horrible but a few good ones come along every now and then and they're almost always advertising for a Disney movie so you know it'll be something worthwhile. Buying actual Happy Meals are so ripoff. Sometimes I get the urge to but a happy meal but then I cringe at the price tag. 3 dollars for a plain burger and soda? Not in this lifetime!

As lame as this is coming from a 21 year old, you CAN buy toys seperately. $1 I believe, but you also get to choose which toy you want.
The $3 for the burger and soda (and fries to be fair) isn't worth the amount of garbage you are putting into your system. I think that 4 Mozz sticks have 800 calories, trans fat, and god knows what else. that's just 4 Mozz sticks. -_-
I work as a busboy for a new, upcoming restaurant in a rather wealthy section of a generally wealthy area.
IE, I get tipped well.
We work in two shifts, the 10:30-4 and the 4-closing. In the 10:30-4 shift, you can expect to make $70, and in the 4-closing (closing usually being 12 or 1 AM for bussers, and 11/11:30 for servers), you can expect to make close to $120 (if you're a waiter, you're making $200+).
The work is hard sometimes, and occasionally we are understaffed, but the pluses are that meals are 20% off and after work you get a drink for free (if you're of age ;)).
Plus I get to work with some of the cute waitresses and hostesses. Not too bad.
Who's that for foreshading? Heheheh, try at least to think you're gonna meet some new and probably interesting people. With that mindset you're gonna suffer
agreed with this. make it a game, in hs i made a game of keeping a piece of the meat on the grill to see how black i could get it. as black as it got, it allways sizzled.high fat content. the burgers acually shrink at least 25% when they go from frozen to cooked.

I work at a starbucks in NYC; I love it. Just because I'm a generally happy and friendly guy so customer service is fun, plus yuppys and hippsters tend to be friendlier then the average customer at other food joints.
I work as a bagger/cashier at a Sweetbay Supermarket. I like my job, but I don't love it. I think a lot of the enjoyment that I take out of my job comes from my co-workers. On the days that I'm working with people I like, I actually enjoy my job. On days that I'm stuck with people that bug me, it isn't as fun.
I manage the anti-money laundering unit of a very large (2nd largest in the world) mutual fund company. I like my job, not love it. The pay and benefits are amazing, but the work can get tedious.
I am actually posting from work right now! I love my job! I work as a radio dj for a country station in Kansas. Yeah, I hate country, but still, being a dj is pretty cool. The work really flexs my creative side, and I get to be a complete fool over the air, which is hilarious.

Do you ever mention things like hating country? Or certain songs? I don't think I'd be able to keep it in. >_<
I don't know how I survive, but it's not by cursing the music! I live in a very Hickish part of Kansas, very conservative to say the least. The best way to keep anyone happy down here is to put on that happy-all-the-time-no-matter-what facade.
EDIT: I should mention that I do say that some songs sound stupid over the air. I did that this morning on the morning show. That's not too bad, but only if it's a specific song and no the whole genre.

I work at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation aka the CBC as a "broadcast technician". Don't ask me what that means, I just push buttons and make things go. I love the job but hate working every weekend and holiday, but that's life. I work on the weekend National newscasts so if I make a mistake, the whole country knows.
