So that the Zelda thread isn't taken over with discussions of tattoos and such, I started a thread. Now, as of now I have no tattoos, but my stepdad has a tattoo on one of his biceps of a lightning bolt surrounded by the letters TCB. Some sorta Elvis thing. And my grandpa has a bunch of tattoos. Lesse, the Grim Reaper, El Supremo over two boy imps and a girl imp, the fmily coat of arms, and maybe some others I can't remember. While we're at it, let's make this a thread about piercings too. Speaking of which, my grampa has a pierced nipple. Now converse amongst yourselves.

"The imagination is not a State: it is the Human existence itself." - William Blake
I have two tats myself, one is a tribal design (that I drew myself) on my left shoulder and a set of cool black tribal angel wings (actually a slightly redone version of the wings from the Angel DVD boxsets, if you've sen them) on my right tricep. I also have a really cool cross picked out that I want to get on the back of my right calf, but I need to raise the $200 first.
I like tattoos a lot, but my friends have taken it to the extreme. I have one friend who's going for his 11th on Saturday. And his girlfriend is getting her 8th the same day. That, to me, is taking it from an artistic expression and turning it into a tacky mess. Each tattoo by itself that each of them has is nice, but all of them together? Way too many, I think.
I find tattoos and piercings intensely distasteful.
But that's just me.

Sing lustily and with good courage.
Be aware of singing as if you were half dead,
or half asleep:
but lift your voice with strength.
Be no more afraid of your voice now,
nor more ashamed of its being heard,
than when you sang the songs of Satan.
Well, I figured people would think I was crazy for getting these but so far the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
I think UV tattoos could quite possibly be the coolest thing on the planet. After healing, the evidence of having gotten a tattoo disappears completely, provided your artist doesn't scar you.
Unfortunately I don't have a black light so I can't show you how it glows. These pictures are 1 day old so they don't look quite right yet (note the speckles of blood in the close up of the saber handle). but anyway, people requested that I post em, so here you go.
It may look like the blade isn't straight, but it is when I put my arm at my side.

Evil is boring. The universe is friendly. Life is on your side. Joy is your birthright. Cynicism is idiotic. Fear is a bad habit. Despair is lazy. In fact, all of creation wants you to succeed. Act as if the universe is a prodigious miracle created for your amusement and illumination. Assume that secret helpers are working behind the scenes to assist you in turning into the gorgeous masterpiece you were born to be. . . Life always gives you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.
/me cries... lots...
Tat is possibly the most geekest thing i've ever seen...
Then again, I probably wouldn't pass up something equally geeky myself.
I might get some sort of tatoo on my arm. Something like vines crawling over it. I had a friends draw it in pen before and it looked amazing. It went over my middle finger creeping down and had a big lotus flower on the top of my hand. It was beutifull.
Can I report this as spam, because thats exactly what it is
RSM: What are those swords of light?
In the land of my home we call them Glowsticks, and the natives use them to cut trees. This combatitive use, though it has a distict, almost sexy appeal, is not natural. I do not understand it. I will have to observe these beasts more in-depth.
Also, I am interested in the UV tattoos. How can I find out where to get one?
EDIT: I think a UV tattoo that made one look like they had a full-body circuit of some kind - sort of like Cortana from Halo - or some wierd thing - like the Nanos from Red Faction II - could be awesome.
I'm 17,and my parents gave me the freedom to do whatever i want with my body soo ive taken advantage. I have a tribal band on my right arm with a long circular extension that goes up my deltoid, a medium sized tribal design that runs up and down along the side of my bicep, the outline for a large blue dragon on my right shoulder, and JLT written in old english right in the middle of my shoulder blades. For piercings i have my left lobe, my right nipple(profesional), and my left nipple(done when i was drunk so not as good of a placing)...thats its for me! It wont let me post my pics, i dunno why!
Plastik: I agree, that would be totally awesome. just do a google for UV Tattoo and you should find all the information you could possibly desire.

I've considered getting a tattoo at some point, but the only 'body art' I currently sport is a pair of pierced earlobes that I got a couple years back.

"...because without beer, things do not seem to go as well."
my right arm bears the injured-but-still-smiling happy face that i use as my avatar (i've been using it for about 13 years). on my left arm i have a scattered pile of nine swords (o-dachi, katana, ninjya, foil, rapier, falchion, longsword, bastard sword, claymore) with the words "once more, with feeling" above it in an arc. the symbolism behind it is a bit long to describe here, but you can always look up the meaning of the nine of swords in a tarot deck.
i'm also planning on getting one this summer on my right calf. i'll post again if i manage to get it anytime soon.

I don't have any tatoos, but I do have 3 holes in my left ear(2 in the lobe, and one about halfway up), and two in my right(2 cartilage). I don't have any pics, but I might soon, if I feel like taking a picture of myself.
I have no piercings or tattoo's and no intention of getting any, it just isn't for me. If I ever did, it would be a small tattoo on my left ring finger. It would symbolize both; that I am left handed & I am proud of the art and creativity that comes out of it, and that I am going to make DAMN sure before I ever slip a wedding ring over it. Because I am not gonna do this divorce BS.
But I have no problem with others who have piercings or tattoo's. I will admitt most of the time I think it looks tacky. And I think it looks just stupid when people do too much of it.(walking tackle-boxes)
And I think piercings on private parts is lascivious, and says,"I have many partners." If someone mutilates their own sexual organs - they must not care who they screw. :slant:

I think it is to each their own on this. I have nothing, no piercings or tats (except the scarred remains of a homemade tat gone bad). It's not my thing, although I have seen some phenomenal work tat-wise and piercings look good sometimes too (especially those tongue barbells and the pierced navels on chicks). A friend has a castle tatted on his shoulder. In the background the sun is setting and it gives the piece an almost 3-D appearance.
I got my first Tattoo last friday, a pentacle on my back. Next week im going to get more done, im addicted.
In July, im getting a UV tattoo of a maze on my face, ouch thats gonna hurt
Before you jump in... erm.... headfirst.... into UV ink, make sure it's going to be invisible on your body first. You should get some ink done on your arm or wrist, preferably a spot that is similar in tone to your face. The last thing you want is to get it done only to find that you have these conspicuous lines all over your face.
EDIT:
For anyone interested in seeing what a tattoo looks like during the healing process, here's a day 5 photo. Since the ink is invisible, you can actually see the damage to the skin as well as the healing period. Use of this stuff called Tattoo Goo has really sped the healing process. The skin has already flaked off (through no picking of my own, mind you!) and all that is left is the redness of the skin. there is virtually no scarring of my hand, and the lowermost triangle is already starting to turn into the color of the surrounding skin.

I've 4 extra holes (2 on ear, one on left brow and, one on left nip) and about 9 inks. Hello Kitty, Stimpy (from Ren & Stimpy), a Frank Frazetta piece, and a couple of oriental works are among what I have.
My favorate is my daughters name on my left peck. Hello Kitty and Stimpy are in a close run for second place.
For those who are thinking about getting someones name inked on you - NEVER anyone other than your parents, siblings, or children. The most common ones people get are their children or their parents (mom in particular). Anyone else is called "together forever syndrome." Once you get it done you'll more than likely end up breaking up/ getting a divorce. (If they die then you've a way out I reckon... Easier to tell your future lay that they died instead of ya'll breaking up over lifting the lid, eh?)
Anyways, ya'll with ink.. Please do not feed or tease the non-tat2'd people.
Let's see, a quick list of all the body mods I have/had.
Had:
Eyebrow piercing
Septum piercing
Have:
Nostril piercing
Tongue piercing
Off-center lip piercing
2 ear piercings in left ear, one in right (bottom/primary ones stretched, very between 00g and 3/4", depending on where I'm trying to get a job)
Nipple piercings
tattoo of Black Lotus on left forearm/wrist
tattoo of Glorious Anthem (Saga) with Sol Ring as the Angel's halo on left shoulder/upper arm (stretches almost to my elbow from the top of my shoulder)
Doesn't seem like much now that I type it out, heh.
And I think piercings on private parts is lascivious, and says,"I have many partners." If someone mutilates their own sexual organs - they must not care who they screw. :slant:
Though I understand the sentiment that excessive piercings and tattoos can look a bit tacky, just have to disagree with this last point. I know it's your own opinion, but you will find that its not a "must not care who they screw" type thing but more of a "amazing sense of gratification and pleasure". My current S.O. has 4 piercings in each ear, her tongue, bellybutton, nipples, and clit. The increased stimulation, she says, is amazing. She has had one of her nipple piercings out for the last few weeks (she just didnt like it's positioning all that much), and says that the sensation without it has become a pleasant difference.
Not to mention it gives a lot more options of fun things to play with. She really wants to get rings done on her back and lace them like a corset. I think that might be a bit too far.
I have a tattoo of the U.S. Coast Guard shield on my left shoulder.
I always wanted a tattoo but I wanted to get something that I would NEVER be embarrassed of. I have known people with a devil or naked woman tattooed on their body. I would have a hard time explaining that to my children.
I only have one on my shoulder of a tribal-asiatic looking dragon on my arm. It's about 3"x2" in dimensions. I got it about 5 years ago.
Oh, and then I have my ears pierced but that's now common for a lot of people.
Meh, not too many girls get tattoos, perhaops it partially the pain factor. I didn't mind getting mine done, it felt just like a bad sunburn.
What really irks me is people who get too much and the designs or pictures make no sense when looking at them as a collective, or they're really badly done.

Maybe try asking more chicks to show you their tat2s...
You'd be surpirsed at how many do have them that you can't see. I think more chicks have tat2's than men.
