A Specialty Mafia Setup for 20 players, constructed and hosted by Osieorb18
Cohosted by Shinichi.

Little did most muggles know that the game of Mafia originated as a Wizarding game practiced furtively in pureblood get-togethers. One evening, Lord Voldemort called together many of his Death Eaters to play a round of Mafia. Welcome... To Voldemort's Throne Room.
Warning: This game includes some roles which are... unusual. Outside of when it is expected of me by the setup, I will do my best not to give you false information. I can promise that no role reveal will ever be false, and I will actively avoid falsely answering questions asked of the host to the best of my ability. (I'm very good at shrug emojis.)
Rules:
I usually post a long-winded set of rules which many people don't read. Instead, here is a slightly less long-winded set of rules.
I am the host, and I reserve the right to change and/or enact these rules as I see fit.
You are expected to read and understand ALL communication from the host. If you may not understand something, please ask.
Be the best you that you can be. Let's have fun!
Keep what belongs in the game thread, in the game thread, and what belongs outside of the game thread, outside of the game thread. This includes but is not limited to host communications, concerns of rule-breaking, ongoing games, IRL matters, editing posts without permission, thanking posts, and questions for the host.
Don't spam the thread.
Make your votes clear to anyone reading them. Accurate and regular votecounts are a privilege which is earned. I suggest bolding your vote and placing it on a separate line from all other content in your post.
Do not self-vote. This is considered intentional poor sportsmanship and will be handled as such.
Setup-Specific Notes:
The setup contains roles that present false information or interact in unusual ways. It still appears balanced and enjoyable to reviewers, but some information will not be reliable.
All roles have an upgrade mechanic which is known as a Dark Mark.
Scum team members may submit factional actions on the same Night as regular actions.
Roles may exist which change a player's target. A player will always learn if their target has been changed, but will not learn of their new target's identity unless they learn information about their target.
Don't post in the thread during the Night phase unless explicitly told that you are allowed to do so.
Elimination Deadlines will start at 264 hours (11 days), and may decrease later on in the game. Twilight phases will be 0-12 hours. Night Action Submission Deadlines will be 24 hours throughout the game. Night Action Handling Deadlines will be 24-36 hours throughout the game. Any of these numbers may change upon request or whim. Please make requests in private.
Elimination is by majority during the Day only.
Players are expected to make at least 2 posts per 24 hours. This will be checked less regularly than that, roughly every 48 hours. The final 24 hours will be checked separately.
Mafia will have nightchat and daychat. Mafia are expected to follow the same activity rule of posting in their nightchat at a rate of over 2 posts per 24 hours during the Night phase as well.
You will have 1 free prod over the course of the game. Once per game, if you are in the top 50% of posters at the end of a phase, you will gain another free prod. If all of your free prods have been used up, you will be replaced or modkilled at host discretion. If you use up your free prod(s), the host may impose a stricter content requirement on you at their discretion.
Modgaming, setupgaming, and flavourgaming will be particularly ineffective. Flavour is mostly random. The setup is unusual for me and unusual for MtGS. I'm probably going to laugh at you behind the scenes if you try this.

KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.

I think I would call the difference to be: Bastard is more a set-up that goes out of its way to make the game more difficult and be completely unreliable to its players, or essentially stacked against one faction beyond reasonable expectations.
Bastard elements still has a degree of fairness and they're not as impossible so long as you take everything with a grain of salt. They can be among the most chaotic, yet at the same time fun, set-ups.
If that's what we have here, damn, really looking forward to it.

Guess I'll /spectate then
If you post as you did in the last two games, I’d be hard pressed to expect you’d run into rules issues for real. Osie might correct me here, but I would imagine that the rules care more about participation than legalism of actually posting that regularly.
Yea I think Osie would make an exception for you, ZDS. You have a track record of being engaged while posting less than most people. Most people can't do that, and so these rules exist.

If there's days on which you expect to be unable to post, you can prearrange to be V/LA on those days. Cantrip does this usually in my games with the weekends.

This game has bastard elements. There was still an active effort to balance it in construction.

It's not a V/LA issue. I live in Europe and I work on weekdays, so by the time I log in there's a ton of new posts in the thread (especially in the early game). Combine that with my posting style and it can easily take me one or two hours just to catch up and write one post. After that I typically log off, as I have other things to do with my evening (such as feeding myself).
In short, I should be able to post every day, but I cannot guarantee I'll be able to post more than once per 24 hours on week days and I'll most definitely be in the bottom half of posters.
If this is not an issue and these rules aren't meant to be applied blindly (like shadow and KJ say), I'll play.
If this is going to result in repeated prods because I technically don't follow the written rules, I'll pass.
I don't know your hosting style so I don't know if you are a "spirit of the law" or a "letter of the law" kind of guy.

Somewhere in between. Given prior explanation, I could probably work out some kind of reasonable compromise with you ahead of time. The spirit of the law is to handle people who are not making an effort to contribute. If someone is making an effort to contribute, and is able to deliver quality but not quantity above a certain level which is a little bit below the original statements, I'm certainly open to discussion with that player.

Seems like a fun one to follow along.
STILL?
I should be saying that about you, right? When was the last game we were in at the time? Gotta been a decade or something?
I would say it has bastard elements but ymmv

For now, might change my mind
Seems 8 years on the light side, probably closed to 10.
Were you in seasons? Or like a clan contest or something? I disappeared into the aether and emerged a fully functional 30 year old lol.
Yes children, kpaca got old.
