...Specialty, no idea on complexity, ending an almost 2 year break from mafia here with this...
Why not?

Complexity in the Myriad Universes series is very high, both in terms of flavor immersion and Mafia mechanic innovation. The first three games have had several innovative roles and mechanics each (at least one of which as designed required forum mod privileges to implement) & I'd recommend reading at least one of the games to get a feel for how I develop setups.
@Annorax could you give me an idea of some of those innovative things so I have an idea what to look out for in terms of what's possible? What roles have existed in past forms which wouldn't exist in say, a normal?
In the past we've had:
* A SK (Annorax from Year of Hell) who altered history to ensure his targets never existed, by deleting their posts from the game thread
* Guinan, who could sense timeline alterations (this didn't play out so well due to a new player getting the role, playing horribly & eating a day 1 dayvig)
* A SK who didn't choose a target player, but rather chose a target post number from the next day; the "mined" post would kill the player who posted it. This role also had a one-shot ability to mine a post from the previous day and kill anyone who quoted it (this didn't happen due to that SK getting killed on night 1)
* A town mind-melder (Spock) who could choose a different player each night (without confirmation of alignment) and gain day-chat with them
* Several different versions of Spot the cat, who's been a tracker, a watcher, immune to Borg cult assimilation, and God knows what else, including a post restriction in all versions limiting the player to cat-like actions
I believe none of these innovations would make it through the review process in a Normal. The flavor in general would work, but every game has had a role or three that wouldn't be allowed in a Normal. This game is no different.
This game started the development process with more complexity than any of the previous ones, I moved some of it into the tentative design file for MU5 and a couple other projects to keep this game accessible for new players. But there's new stuff that'll definitely end up on the "Best Of" list in this one

The setup for Bastard mod mafia 1 was:
2 scum teams each of 3 members including 1 goon, 1 godfather and 1 mason
1 serial killer
1 Cult leader
2 Masons
1 Saint or a Super Saint.
The town masons were spilt up between 2 mason triplets including 1 town mason, 1 scum mason and either the serial killer or the cult leader.
There probably was a cop and vigilante in there somewhere as well.
Basically if it can be dreamt up by a sick and delusional imagination it has a chance of showing up.
Well, last game had amongst others a SK role that removed players (and their posts) from the game. (And they didn't get to choose who they killed. They chose a number and after that many posts had occured since the day began, the last player to post was killed.)
This was the role that required Admin level permissions to run as the posts would have been stript from the main game thread into a special thread up in the Admin lougne.

Keep in mind that was a Bastard Mod titled game; there's a LOT of ***** in that setup that I wouldn't dream of doing in a non-Bastard game. If stuff like that shows up in any of my setups again, it'll be Bastard Mod 2 & the sign-up thread will have a LENGTHY disclaimer listing all the ***** that I could come up with that wouldn't fly in a normal or non-Bastard-tagged Specialty.
The mafias were actually 4 players, the fourth on each was a vanilla goon who'd be shown doing something drunk and disordlerly at daybreak if they'd been targeted by anything. There were 4 cops (sane/paranoid/naive/insane), each with a 20% chance of just getting an insane response despite their sanity. This is how evil I've been in the past, but the vast majority of that evil is confined to Bastard games where what the players get is exactly what's on the cover.
Wow... Anyways, can find the threads for the second and third game of this series of mafia games... And since search doesn't want to cooperate with my iPhone's internet (which is what I'm almost always stuck with) can search out the first.
No wonder I couldn't find it. Wasn't labled a myriad universe game (though Star Trek, should have checked). Either way will get to reading, wrap up off site games and hope to be ready when it fires.
@Iso: Don't be afraid to drop me a PM on NGA if this thing fires off and I don't notice quickly.
Edit: And thanks for finding this Proph. Been a while since I've seen your name.

KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

I updated the series name for the second game to steal the title of a book miniseries that came out & is about the "what if ~this~ happened differently" alternate history stuff I built into the games. Funfact: the authors would probably actually avoid reading these games for fear that my flavor could be considered "story ideas".
We need more players, please get the word out!

Will do, currently put in a request with one of the mods on NGA to open an ad about this game there. With some luck it might be allowed and some of the players there might show interest in this...

Took me a few minutes to realize that my name was taken by myself since MTG Salvation is a part of Curse.
So, I'm forced to ask, where is JD? Is it JDisawesomesauce? Or is it the guy that signed up before Fable? Because the guy before Fable seems like JD to me more than the guy with the username JDisawesomesauce.
Because if either of them are Numbers, I'll join in.

Definitely not signing up for another game while this one is about to go.

Also if I remember correctly, there was no cult anyway.
It's been done twice, once in a game that actually had a Borg cult.
