The Society of the Dragon Flagon has long stood watch over the small town of Dunloptonshire from their secret room in Ye Olde Mangye Doge Inne. Formed long ago by a band of loyal trackers, the Society ensures no crimes go unpunished in this town... and no whistle goes un-wetted. Every night, you can hear them behind the walls, singing songs of their latest triumph.
But the Society's nemesis has returned. The evil Baron Redd Herryn has sent two of his most trusted associates to destroy the Society from within. The Society faces its greatest challenge yet... second only to finishing off this keg before it goes bad.
Welcome to Experiment #4 - Drunken Tracker Mafia.
This is a fast-paced open setup micro game for 7 players.
Five of you will receive the following role PM.
You are a Town Tracker. You won't rest until you find the mafia and put them down. Or at least, find a pint and put it down. Each night, including Night 0, send me the name of another player. You will learn whom that player targets this night. You cannot target yourself. You win when the scum are dead.
However, two of these five players will secretly be deemed Drunken Trackers at the beginning of the game. Drunken Trackers receive a random name as their result (other than their target's), rather than the player their target actually targeted.
That might sound confusing, so let's parse it out. Azrael decides to track Cyan, who this night decided to give Iso a big hug. If Azrael is sober, he will learn that Cyan targeted Iso. However, if Azrael is drunk, he will learn that Cyan targeted a random player other than Cyan, possibly including Iso. Make sense? No? Well, uh, good luck anyway!
Two players will receive the following PM:
You are a Mafia Teetotaler Tracker and Toxic Tincture Trafficker... er, let's just call you a Mafia Tracker. Your partner is ____. The two of you may communicate during nights in this quick topic: ____
Each night, one of you may poison a target of your choice. That player will die at the end of the following day. He/she will not learn he/she has been poisoned.
Each night, if you didn't poison a player, you may instead track another player of your choice. You will learn whom that player targets. This result is guaranteed accurate. You would never touch a drop of alcohol. However, you cannot target yourself.
You win when the town can no longer lynch you.
The game begins with a full-action Night 0 which begins as soon as five players have confirmed receipt of their role PMs. As a result, the setup promises to play much like another classic open setup, Dethy. But be warned - this setup has never been played before, and may be totally unbalanced. By signing up, you promise not to angrily throw shoes at me.
Since this is a small game, and there are a lot of people behind me on the Micro list, expect very aggressive deadlines. Day 1 will last 11 days; Day 2 will last 8 days; and Day 3, if it is required, will last 5 days. I'll permit 1-day extensions if activity is brisk and the time is necessary. (Nights will last 3 days per usual.) If you're going to be absent for extended periods during that time, I suggest you not sign up.
