@Terraine: Is making a wrong assumption alignment-telling?
It's less being right or wrong about the assumption as it is making ones at all. This early and with a new player if you're doing that its already anti town cause you're not approaching it with the mindset of "let me figure this player out." You're already assigning a position and mind set to them which isn't super town to me
Whoops. I don't think it completely invalidates my read, but it's less telling for a non-new player to be voting and making non-obvious reads. Further infomration required.

I find it hard to believe that you geninuely think this. We've never played together and you haven't asked me about my experience, doesn't that mean you're making an unfounded assumption about me? I think my explanation is pretty clear on how I was trying to figure him out, I just made an oopsie that I should have checked first. Mea Culpa.

Mkay. But you’re going to get proven wrong (or right) anyways so that would be pretty dumb wolf play. Eco is probably somewhat rusty, but I think he didn’t do this on purpose.
We've never played together and you haven't asked me about my experience, doesn't that mean you're making an unfounded assumption about me?
Nope cause your experience really doesn't matter to me. I'm not basing my questions on "this player has X experience" I'm forming them on what you're doing in the game.
Mkay. But you’re going to get proven wrong (or right) anyways so that would be pretty dumb wolf play. Eco is probably somewhat rusty, but I think he didn’t do this on purpose.
Again the right or wrongness and if its AI isn't the important part er. It feels important to me to bring up cause if he's town he's going with a flawed play. If he's scum then its a point to highlight that his "town play" has scumtells.
No more gifs for me because I managed to get blocked by cloudfare for using them incorrectly. Confirmed gremlin over here.
Instead KJ can be town. I don't want to believe this because I have a hard time imaging town really thinking I day vigged them here, but his reaction was so genuine. If he was scum and decided to pretend like he believed he was dead then whatever. We can figure that out later for now I will bust out my bull whip for anyone who comes after KJ. Also I wasn't trying to fake a day vig and I'm mildly confused as to how anyone thought I was?
Axel read is very stupid but I actually believe it a little. It does have to do with the gifs. First thing to note is giffing and wanting to hang out and fluff is NAI, but this is a character break for Axel. Could it be that he wants to take things more lightly but there is always the chance that it's because he's scum and is trying to "hey fellow kids" it up. In situations like these I always want to keep suspicion in mind but not go crazy with it.
I approve of Eco's posts towards Ignoramus and he has used the second best gif in the thread. Sorry sloth and terraine. Your volume is excellent but the stonehenge moment is untouchable.
I'd like everyone to think about what conclusions they'd draw from Ignoramus's assumptions being justified or not. Right now it feels like we have a lot of analysis for the sake of analysis when there isn't much meat on that bone.
I'd like everyone to think about what conclusions they'd draw from Ignoramus's assumptions being justified or not. Right now it feels like we have a lot of analysis for the sake of analysis when there isn't much meat on that bone.
I mean...it's how you get meat on that bone. It's early d1 pretty much everything is going to be over analyses and much ado about nothing which provides us with something.
That is absolutely true but if you can't attach the thing you're analyzing to a concrete motivation for either alignment it doesn't make sense to bother. And there really isn't anything you can backfill as foundation for a player new to a meta assuming a player is experienced when no one acts like they're new and have a massive post count on the site.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

I'm having a hard time following this read, or at least the strength of it.
It's clearly out of the ordinary in that he, or anyone, would think that a gif alone was you triggering a Daykill, so I don't know why or what about his reaction is supposed to be genuine/town? It's too early to tell how scum or town would react to that, given how silly it is. So deciding this early to townshield someone over an interaction that is very much NAI rings hollow.
As either alignment, I would expect [real or fake] anger there if they actually believed they had been shot so early on Day 1, but KJ kept fluffing. It made me think he was joking in return, at least after the intial "wait am I dead" reaction.

Yeaaaa gotta agree. Not sure how you're getting "genuine" reaction from this...it came across as playing along with the joke to me.

I'm wounded. I like hanging out. I will grant that I don't "fluff" as much as some, but this game seemed appropriate to try and cut loose a little. I mean, it's Feel Good 80's Mafia man.
Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.

Sir, I'm the only one that "hello fellow kids" it up in here. This game was an exception.
Yon know what's weird? I clicked on the "replies" link to see the list of who has posted in the game and how many posts they have, and ignoramus isn't showing up at all?

@Vaimes there is playing along with a joke but his reaction after the mod post makes me think it wasn't just playing along with the joke. Anyway my hedgelord status is mostly for scum reads. I've always had strong town reads!
I don't have a take on Sloth yet. He is the type of player that is hard for me to read because he's generally so easy-going and everything comes off as unforced and natural sounding.
If I'm going to get him, I imagine it will be on bad takes and poor logic when that becomes relevant.

So, for the record, I did think that Grape did something, but I was fairly sure it wasn't a daykill. Grape can't read me THAT well, and I don't think Grape is such a massive ******** that he would end the game/fun for me so quickly. Sloth's reaction kinda threw me because he didn't actually kill me, right? Does Sloth know something I don't?
My initial reaction was that the gif was posted in concert with like a private message to the mod activating an ability privately, given when I asked Grape replied "something like that" or whatever he said.
So yea, I was joking, and was like 90% sure I didn't just die, but I wasn't 100%.
@Sloth: It does mean something, but let me ask you: What made Grape's post scummy?

I'm trying to recall a game in which I was in and Sloth was scum. I don't play often enough to get a good grasp on scum!Sloth Meta
DLP Willy Wonka, he was voted out Day 1.
...oof I was...garbage that game if I recall. That was a tunnely sort of sloth. I defended him down to flip and felt stupid there after. I wanna say he was less...playful? I guess? Also I don't remember if he had this play your cards close to the chest mindset there. I'd have to go back and see but if just base memory serves right he feels different here.
And at the risk of hedging? That might not mean a damn thing. I know my play style tends to be different every game I play outside of the one issue

Well, I can't disprove that, so I'll believe you.
If you'd actually been scumreading Grape for potentially killing me, then I'd have questioned the mindset on that. Because Grape killing me is only bad for town if I'm not scum, and how did you know I wasn't scum? You're also typically not quite that reactive.

Like you, I rather doubted a town dayvig, an SK, or an scum would out themselves so blatantly so I never took it seriously.
Surprised you thought I had at all, honestly. J'accuse
(No not seriously.)
