Another year is behind us, so it's time for another awards thread!
We are planning on doing another podcast this year with help from Osieorb18, but we're still ironing out the details.
Here are your directions!
You may nominate up to one person per category of awards in this thread.
Once nominations are complete, you may vote for as many awards as you'd like.
Send us your memorable moments, including great instances of individual play, sportsmanship, good humor, or anything else!
Patiently wait for the podcast to be recorded and the winners to be announced.
You don't need to submit a nomination or a vote for every category to participate - the more people we have involved, the better the awards will be.
Thanks in advance for participating! Nominations will remain open until at least January 10th, approximately one week from today.

3 games come to mind: Seasons, Voldemort and Prison Block II.
Seasons had that mafia calendar that ended up having a negative impact on town’s fun in the game.
Voldemort had a false mason, which should never exist.
So my pick is Prison Block II
I always love these awards but I'm finding it hard to vote as this is the least I've played/read in a few years.
Player Awards:
Best Town Performance (Individual): Tom in Prison Block 2
Best Mafia Performance (Individual): Umami in Resistance
Best 3rd Party Performance (Individual)
Best Town Performance (Group): Matter Mafia (I might be biased here because I got dunked on for bad play but it felt like town was on it's game)
Best Mafia Performance (Group): Tom/KJ in Token 4
Best Town Player: A bit of a strange year where I don't think anyone had a dominate year the whole way through. I think Wisp and Tom had the highest peaks but weren't consistent for various reasons. So nominating Vaimes who didn't have a game where he was the MVP but was a really solid townie in every game he played.
Best Mafia Player: There just were not many people with repeat games as mafia this time around. I'm going to nominate KJ as he had a great year but there is a part of me that just wants to reward peak and go Umami again.
Best Overall Player: Rhand
Best Newcomer: TerRaine
Most Entertaining Player: Rod/CoolSunglasses
Most Improved Player: Wisp
Mod Awards:
Best Design: Snow White
Best Flavor: Matter
Best Role: Mirror on the Wall from snow white
Best Read: Resistance
Game of the Year: Prison Block II
Best Town Performance (Individual): Jackrito (Matter)
Best Mafia Performance (Individual): TerRaine (Prison Block)
Best 3rd Party Performance (Individual): LastWhisper (Voldemort's Throne Room)
Best Town Performance (Group): Matter Mafia
Best Mafia Performance (Group): Resistance
Best Town Player: Tomslogger
Best Mafia Player: Fontisian/fulcrum
Best Overall Player: Rhand (I mean, he championed for a reason lol)
Best Newcomer: Umami
Most Entertaining Player: TerRaine
Most Improved Player: Vaimes
Mod Awards:
Best Design: Resistance
This game was a nightmare and complicated as hell, but it was well designed and clever, and the scum earned that victory.
Voldemort's Throne gets an honorable mention but people didn't do enough with the neat Dark Mark mechanic.
Best Flavor: Covid-19 in the Palace
Best Role: Vanilla (don't @ me - simple is best!)
Mod Poster from Voldemort would definitely have gone here if done ~better (i.e. you could actually use it as a mod post).
Best Read: Tiniest Hunt
If watching town!me dominate the thread with a read that results in an immediate D2 scum victory is not hilarious to you, we have nothing in common.
Game of the Year: Matter Mafia
It was intricate and complicated and there's something to be said about scum being so driven into a corner they have to surrender.
@Sloth you can vote for it if you want but resistance was a stock standard forum adaptation of an existing game. I think it's an awesome game but zero effort on my part went into designing it. The designers of the base game are geniuses but my hosting it here is akin to a mountainous game.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Player Awards:
Best Town Performance (Individual) — Tomslogger in Prison Block II, he had a bad start but after this he was on top of his game (/barning Grape).
Best Mafia Performance (Individual) — Orangeandblack5 in Voldemort, for replacing into a suspected spot and quickly getting himself town read. His death after he messed up and got himself modkilled (which I don't hold against him, he wasn't trying to cheat) was the turning point that led to the mafia's defeat even though their victory seemed guaranteed at that point.
Best 3rd Party Performance (Individual)
Best Town Performance (Group) — Snow White, so many players were on the ball, it's amazing the scum lasted as long as they did.
Best Mafia Performance (Group)
Best Town Player — ZeDorkSlipeur, every game I played in ended in a town victory, every other game ended in a mafia victory. This has to mean something!Ampharos (actual vote), she exemplifies great town play: she puts in a lot of effort, is extremely easy to town read and she's a joy to play with as well.
Best Mafia Player
Best Overall Player — Rhand, he's great in any role and has no major flaw.
Best Newcomer
Most Entertaining Player — Lastwhisper, zoomiest zoomer that ever zoomed.
Most Improved Player
Mod Awards:
Best Design — Prison Block II, simple yet elegant and fun.
Best Flavor — Snow White, I prefer short and sweet flavour over walls of text I don't read, and I loved the macabre humour of the death scenes.

I wish we still did "funniest false claim", so I could nominate Rhand's gambler claim in Prison Block II. :-p
Also, who is actually new among the newcomers? (As in, didn't play forum Mafia at all until this year?)

I see myself more voting the game than the mod in all those categories (Sorry!) so I'll keep my vote lol.

I'll note this and see if we can get it into the podcast; we mainly did away with those so we could just talk about more funny/great plays there instead of just shouting out one of them
Best Town Performance (Individual) - Axelrod in Snow White. True to Axelrod form, he sort of does his own thing for Day 1 before using his role in such a way that was absolutely backbreaking for us as the scum team. Clearing Grape was huge because it was a mislunch we needed to potentially win the game and he was able to bury the cayvie slot as well due to JoeTerry's bodyguard.
Best Mafia Performance (Individual) - ZDS in Prison Block. Even though the scum lost this game, I think ZDS's only flaw this game was that he was so townie, he couldn't still be alive in the end.
Best 3rd Party Performance (Individual) - ???
Best Town Performance (Group) - Snow White Mafia. Town absolutely demolished my rag-tag scumteam and the average player quality was fairly high as well.
Best Mafia Performance (Group) - Seasons (ignore this vote if you're not counting self nominations). Team gave me the push I needed to replace in, not post for a month, and then carry it to endgame amongst a star-studded town group. To be fair, the setup also played a large part in that because we had very good control over the mechanics.
Best Town Player - Silvercrys. Every game, even when he doesn't put 100% into it, he dominates. He was operating at like 30% capacity in Snow White and he managed to even catch me in the end.
Best Mafia Player - fulcrum. She's great as town and deadly as scum (though it feels wrong to nominate someone to this when they only have one scum performance..)
Best Overall Player - Rhand. Gotta give this one to the dude who repped us this year and had great town and scum games on MU.
Best Newcomer - Slothful
Most Entertaining Player - CropCircles/Slothful
Most Improved Player - Slothful. God he threw me in such a loop in Seinen 2, even though he was dead to rights
Mod Awards:
Best Design - Snow White. Simple design but I thought it was fairly balanced.
Best Flavor -
Best Role
Best Read - Matter Mafia
Game of the Year - Matter Mafia
Best Mafia Player - fulcrum. She's great as town and deadly as scum (though it feels wrong to nominate someone to this when they only have one scum performance..)
Three games, if you count a 3p one. Azrael and I won Tiniest Hunt and I kind of trolled as 3p in Voldemort. It's been a year. :x
