People saying things that aren't true isn't necessarily a scumtell (case in point, this silly Highroller/ZDS slapfight that's probably tvt), but the team fits nicely based on the content they have, or lackthereof, and I'm in a weirdly confident move so I'm just gonna go for it.
i'll join you when i'm finished with what i'm doing, probably
kind of just want to poke cropcircles with sticks until he does something relevant
also sorta want to give axel some room on day 1 because i know he's the type of player who gets good/ramps up in late game but kind of just chills d1 as both alignments? thinking about how in seasons mafia he was pressured a lot early but we eventually had to NK him because his midgame analysis was TOO STRONK
tbf i can't really remember when i've played against scum axelrod
kind of just want to poke cropcircles with sticks until he does something relevant
I'm gonna say to you what I tell all the straight boys that try to poke me with something: don't start something you ain't gonna want to finish.
@Proph The mindset isn't malicious as much as it is just, not villagery. A villager who believes that villagers should be voting suspicious people regardless of how thin their suspicions are ought to have had something more than an rvs vote by that point?
Also maybe "curt" isn't the word you wanted but I don't really think I am, certainly not intentionally. Vague, maybe, but I'm not exactly "hiding" reads as much as I am not volunteering them to see who actually asks about them.
Back and re-reading now from page 1. Giving up the sound-like-a-moron speak because it's too much of a chore, plus I can't come up with dumb nicknames for half of you.
Am I the only person who absolutely hates hates HATES when people say "Meh, I don't want to lynch [this dude] because he's soooooo good later in the game?"
Seppel and Iso got away with murder so many times over the years because of that nonsense.
We are at the halfway point for the Day and considering the pace, we should decide now who we want to remove (so we still have some leeway in case of a clearing claim).
My current case on CropCircles: He started the game by taking pointless stances ("non-stances" as I call them) that do nothing except help him maybe justify bad votes later on, and after that he's been lazily retaliatory-voting me without ever adding anything substantial (be it about me or about the game at large).
My opinion on the other scumspects: None of them is as clearly scummy as CC is, but feel free to try and convince me otherwise. You will probably need to towncase CC though (Vaimes, I'm looking at you).
I was going to point out that this only makes sense if Highroller is town, but then I remembered that you probably know he's not mafia because he wasn't listed in your role PM.
Like I've said before, I'm townreading him. You can do better than such a weak "gotcha".
DK and JT are too low content to be valid trains just yet imo.
Thus concludes my "the scumteam is JT/Jack/Axel" case, courtesy of Jackrito.
I don't get it. I can see Axel (the proactive thing), but why JoeTerry and not dkings? And why not anyone else he's town-reading / null-reading?
@Highroller, now you are accusing me of not doing the exact thing scum-me would have done to get you off my back and make myself look good (looking back to find whatever can be construed as an inconsistency). At least it's something new.
Question: Do you consider yourself a good scum player? Do you have a good reputation as scum?
I'm asking because if you play as scum the way you think scum-in-general play, I assume the answer is no.
Anyway, I'm sticking with my vote on Proph for now.
Main takeaways:
1) Holding onto my earlier stance that his "Poppin Bottles Theory" post was too tryhard.
2) He has emphasized one too many times that he's not familiar with the flavor (see more below).
3) He seems to be asking a lot of softball questions, and I haven't seen much follow-up.
4) He is doing a fair amount of sucking up to the long-time vets (ZDS, CC mostly)
5) Weird interactions with Grape on multiple levels. His defense of me and the posting gimmick was... odd?... especially since no one has been listening to Grape. Also, I found it curious he asked if he had ever seen scum!Grape, when Grape was scum in the most recent game Proph hosted.
Other players of note:
1. ZDS - didn't love his RVS vote on Grape (which actually looked serious to me), he's been over-zealous in explaining/defending his "gutsy" classification of Rodemy's early posts, way too early vanilla claim, seems to be way too wrapped up in flavor (Proph is going out of his way to ignore stuff like this by saying he's "unfamiliar"). I played in a game with scum!ZDS several years ago (Gatecrash), but his old account must have been deleted because his posts no longer exist in that thread and I'm a little miffed I can't do any comparisons.
2. Jackrito - more or less /barning Vaimes here. Also, his use of the word "gutsy" in reference to Rodemy in 92 pings just a bit, and his defense of Proph in 174 is bad (but my read on Proph could be clouding my judgment there).
3. Grapefruit - Weird interactions with Proph, poorly articulated defense of Highroller on page 2 (Vaimes hit him with a good question in 90). I may be personally biased on this though since he tried pushing me D1 for bad reasons in Modern when he was scum and I was town, and a little bit of that is mirrored here (namely downplaying the read as "weak").
4. Silver - I've only played with him once, but he seems really low presence compared to when he was town in Seasons. That's kinda all I have to say, though.
Joe Terry almost makes the list because of the RVS self-vote and the super weird Trump stuff, but he has one specific post that is making me hesitant that I'm not going to talk about right now for reasons.
Everyone else is just there, except for Highroller and Vaimes. Highroller is putting in work that I don't believe scum does on D1 and when I read his posts on ZDS, I firmly believe that *he* believes what he is saying. Vaimes has some mind-meld, but he's also reminding me of Modern where he was kind of a high-activity goofball with jokes, but would nail the occasional hard-hitting question. @Vaimes, I wish you would articulate what you're seeing in Axelrod, though.
Am I the only person who absolutely hates hates HATES when people say "Meh, I don't want to lynch [this dude] because he's soooooo good later in the game?"
Seppel and Iso got away with murder so many times over the years because of that nonsense.
ZDS: it looks like he’s listing a buddy and a villager but trying to group them in the same way. It means nothing on its own, but for me, specifically keeping my eye out for a JT/Axel/Jack team, it’s an elegant addition.
I don’t feel any need to towncase CC. Right now I think he’s a misyeet scum need. I’ll read your posts about him again and marinate on it, though.
dk, I could be wrong or right on Axel, but if I’m right I’ll chalk it up to a lucky guess more than “catching” him, since apparently nobody thinks he’s outside his villager MO.
I normally trust you early because you have a good early game as either side, its your midgame where you tend to get a bit lazy is where I start to have issues.
Ok, I'm trying to get my head in this game, so going back and re-reading each page.
Page 1 Takeaways:
-High Roller is a Bird
-Rod is role playing, yet no one is crying about fake/not fake posting restrictions. Have we determined it's just RP and not a PR?
-I thought ZDS' vote was a joke but it turned out to be real and ZDS got a bit of push back for it. I don't think ZDS is scum at the moment, so I wonder about the push on him
-I actually don't like Silver's push on ZDS in Post #20, it feels forced. I wasn't particularly offended by Highroller claiming bird or Rod role playing.
-I hate that DK is voting (RVS or not) using incorrect names. It may be NAI, but I also find it a bit bothersome
-Proph seems to be thinking along similar lines as myself, except I hate the post count "Popping Bottles" theory. I mean he lists half the players then says, "This is probably simple probability but 1-2 wolves here i guess?", might as well flip a coin and make your reads that way.
-Vaimes post #32 seems like theatrics to me and not particularly helpful, but not necessarily scummy
-I know I'm not one to talk, but I'm noting it anyway, DK does not post anything substantial on this page, but still has a handful of posts.
Page 2 Takeaways:
-Axel seems to dislike the Popping Bottles theory also
-I like where Grape's head is at RE: DK
-Highroller dislikes Popping Bottles too
-Interesting, Proph seems to point Highroller at ZDS before Highroller goes off on ZDS
-Proph:
"When I look at dkings, I see someone who is very much enjoying his posting restriction and having fun with it, not someone who is "in control and comfortable with his position". Can you point out specific posts that make you feel this way?", Did I miss DK claiming a posting restriction?
-Wow, I'm starting to miss Goo. Vaimes vote on Highroller seems bad to me too.
-I dont' like the ZDS OMGUS vote on Highroller
-Silver votes Proph not for Popping Bottles... interesting
-Oh good, ZDS unvotes Highroller, I can go back to thinking he's town
-Man, I'm having a tough time reading Rod with his rhymey bold posts. I'm starting to get suspicious.
Page 3 Takeaways:
-Not loving that Crop Circles complains about unjustified bandwagon votes and then puts an unjustified bandwagon vote on ZDS
-Now Highroller begins pushing on ZDS, I get a bad feeling about the ZDS wagon. It feels forced.
-GAAAA, but I like Highroller's other non-ZDS posts like the ones against popping bottles, and about lynching mafia!
-Darn it ZDS, too early to claim, especially if you're vanilla!
-Proph jumps on to the Crop Circles wagon, +1
-Proph's posts from this page are good in general, I think I'll forgive the terrible PB theory and his sympathy for DK
-Phew... I'm glad Axel is town.
Interesting claim by Rodemy, and gutsy if he had any reason to believe flavour matters this game.

Are you watching Vaimes' Fake News? Because words like "I", "Hate" and "Like" are opinion words..
Been away from my computer. I am skimming on my phone now.
I think Vaimes is probably town, terrible read on me notwithstanding. Think this is solid since I normally tend to scum-read people who think I’m scum. Therefore, if I’m not in this case, it’s probably right....
That makes sense.

I still need to read back to follow what Highroller is saying about ZDS. He’s using so many words.
Says a person who occasionally uses many words. Is this how other people feel about me?

I'm gonna say to you what I tell all the straight boys that try to poke me with something: don't start something you ain't gonna want to finish.
Silver - I mean, Highroller literally FoS'd me without using his vote until I pressed him to. And I know that it might be a little silly for me to bring this up given how much flak I've gotten for my "popping bottles" post, but I did not have anything I really wanted to prod at less than 24 hours into the game.
Do you expect people other than me to be hounding you over your intentionally vague style this game?

I guess I could see you reacting specifically to the FoS that way but like... Idk I'm gonna ruminate on this some I guess.
Regarding your question... I'm not really being intentionally vague *this game* this is just my usual d1 strategy. But yes I expected/am expecting to catch flak for it because it usually happens. Being left in the sidelines d1 and not a central topic of discussion is not something that happens to me often. Ever?
dkings - I feel like when I say "give this person time" it means something /way/ different when it applies to say, Axelrod as opposed to someone like Iso or Seppel. I mean, do you remember how much flak he got D1 of Seasons Mafia and how we tried to engineer a counterwagon on him that game because his town early game was so lackluster?
1) Why do you think that me being unfamiliar with the flavor is a scum tell, and why do you think I am going out of my way to ignore it because of that? I'm not understanding exactly what you mean here.
2) How am I "sucking up to" vets? I am literally voting CC right now lol.
3) I wanted to pursue that line of questioning with Grape because I didn't understand at all how Grape thought you were "in control and comfortable" when in my mind you were just conforming to your self-imposed posting restriction. And my memory of hosted games is a little foggy - I tend to remember player's alignments/meta more when I am actually in a game with them.
Vaimes's catch on Jack is good, and I want Jack to explain that.
Silver - you would say that being kinda floaty/vague/low presence is your usual d1 town strategy? I seem to remember the exact opposite in Seasons - you were on the ball early game then as the game went on and you transitioned to only mobile posting (?) your quality of play plummeted
I agree with Rodemy that JoeTerry's catch-up is extremely narrativy. In addition, it reminded me of something I saw him do as scum in Prison Block 1 (which I partially read out of curiosity during Prison Block 2).
However, reading the post I had in mind, it turns out they are superficially similar but also significantly different (ie: this time JoeTerry isn't commenting on every single post).
Inside my head I went from "yay I found scum" to "hold on, maybe it's a thing he does as town and sometimes mimics as scum".
@JoeTerry : Do you have example of recent town games and recent scum games where you did that type of catch-up/analysis?
Okay the long awaited Page 4 Takeaways...
-I actually really like High Roller's first post of this page HERE. It shows HR's looking for scum, even if I don't totally buy the ZDS case being made. I don't totally buy it because some of the things that he's accusing ZDS of can be done by town as well as scum. As town, I'll say stuff like "implied", when it was outright said.
Plenty of times I double check people's posts after my initial read and change my interpretation of it as town. It just seems like a bad argument when you get caught up on definitions of terms instead of the content. I don't know, it's not an entirely bad argument. See, I can fence sit even if I'm town!
-I also agree with ZDS' response. Could HR vs ZDS be TvT?
-At this point, I have to disagree with Jack's read on Vaimes. I think Vaimes is not town.
-I'm not sated with GF's posts, but at least there's some opinions
-Vaimes isn't scum with Highroller because of Bird Conflusion
-Jack's catch up is good. Thanks Jack
-Crop Circle's #192 seems defensive
-Proph's point in #198 regarding ZDS vs. CC is interesting

@JoeTerry : Do you have example of recent town games and recent scum games where you did that type of catch-up/analysis?
I don't remember what my last town game was, but I just do these catch-ups to get my head in the game as any alignment, so it's not a good meta thing for me. Frankly, I don't know what is. I really have no flaws.
I'd also like to address the fake news that my catch-ups are narrative. I have opinions in there if you read them. Yes, I make narrative comments, but they are things I feel are noteworthy whether or not I make a statement about them.
Page 5 Takeaways...
-I like Proph's comment on Jack's stance on Axel, even though I did the exact same thing to Axel, but I have my reasons.
-More worthless posts from Vaimes
-CC threatening to get serious!? Yikes! I better back off.
-DK confirms his crumbs
-DK with content! It doesn't seem overly helpful, but at least there's something there. Not sure what to make of the content itself yet.
-I'm liking Proph's content more and more as the game goes. Can't wait till he tears into me!
I can't wait till Rod drops his act. It makes communication very difficult and will eventually become anti-town if it persists.
All game, even starting on Page 1, I get the feeling that Vaimes is one bad hombre. Like I said, it feels like theatrics, I don't see a lot a reasoning, just short statements with very little to back them up, I don't agree with almost everything he's said. This feels like a different Vaimes to me because I don't remember him being so, oh I don't know if this is the right word, but arrogant.
I think HR vs ZDS is probably town vs town. ZDS seems to be playing in a familiar manner to me, he flipped town in Voldemort and I was reading him scum. I think his playstyle is easily confused as scummy, but I think you can see his good intentions if you look carefully.
I remember HR and I got in some exchanges and I'm not really surprised about his tunnel on ZDS and I can see where he's coming from, from a town perspective.
I actually have been unimpressed with Axel, but I have to pretend he's locktown for a bit due to some role stuff, which I won't say anymore about at the moment. Step it up Axel!
Crop Circles seems super defensive too. I don't know this person at all, so if this is standard for their meta, please let me know. I can site sources on their defensiveness if you'd like.
Aside from the terrible Popping Bottles Theory, I've liked Proph's play. Proph can be town.
I hated DK's play up until the last page, I still have to dig deeper into what he actually posted in #213, but it is a bit disconcerting that he's locking in a vote on a player I think is town. I'm willing to cut him some slack because I too took a bit of time to get going in this game.
Silver and Grape just seem to be hugely underperforming. I have serious concerns about this.
Jack I feel pretty good about, but there have been some good points against him that have recently been brought up.
With all that being said, my top two concerns right now are:
So are you purposefully not mentioning how I'm the one (I believe, maybe Grape or someone else said it first) that brought up ZDS/Highroller being a tvt fight, or that the "good points" brought up on Jack was also me? Or how we both don't really like Axel? Or how I'm townreading Proph?
I don't understand how you can be saying "I don't agree with Vaimes and he's scummy" but also "Here are my opinions, some of which are similar to Vaimes' which is a little worrying so here's how it affects my thoughts." It's like you're trying to divorce me from my own opinions, so that you can have those same opinions without it looking weird.
Like I don't understand how he comes to this read at all.

I should probably be voting Jack or JT but my vote is on all three in spirit.
That said, I have light townreads on Grape, Highroller, CropCircles, Silver, Proph, ZDS, and Rod.
Kind of want DK to make himself relevant or explode. There was a birthday? I think. Come back to us now.
Seppel and Iso got away with murder so many times over the years because of that nonsense.

Says a person who occasionally uses many words. Is this how other people feel about me?
Silver - I mean, Highroller literally FoS'd me without using his vote until I pressed him to. And I know that it might be a little silly for me to bring this up given how much flak I've gotten for my "popping bottles" post, but I did not have anything I really wanted to prod at less than 24 hours into the game.
Do you expect people other than me to be hounding you over your intentionally vague style this game?
Regarding your question... I'm not really being intentionally vague *this game* this is just my usual d1 strategy. But yes I expected/am expecting to catch flak for it because it usually happens. Being left in the sidelines d1 and not a central topic of discussion is not something that happens to me often. Ever?
Silver - you would say that being kinda floaty/vague/low presence is your usual d1 town strategy? I seem to remember the exact opposite in Seasons - you were on the ball early game then as the game went on and you transitioned to only mobile posting (?) your quality of play plummeted
kind of just want grape and jack to come back and answer my questions
However, reading the post I had in mind, it turns out they are superficially similar but also significantly different (ie: this time JoeTerry isn't commenting on every single post).
Inside my head I went from "yay I found scum" to "hold on, maybe it's a thing he does as town and sometimes mimics as scum".
@JoeTerry : Do you have example of recent town games and recent scum games where you did that type of catch-up/analysis?
Page 5 Later...
Vaimes and Crop Circles
Let's test the waters
VOTE: Crop Circles
I don't understand how you can be saying "I don't agree with Vaimes and he's scummy" but also "Here are my opinions, some of which are similar to Vaimes' which is a little worrying so here's how it affects my thoughts." It's like you're trying to divorce me from my own opinions, so that you can have those same opinions without it looking weird.
