aight joe gimme just like. brief rundown on who you think we should dunk and why
Right now I'm not liking the way Triss has been approaching this game. It almost makes zero sense, none of it seems like it's from a town perspective.
I hated the vote Starling made on DB at the end of Day 2, then the TerRaine hammer was just as gross. I had TerRaine in my town pile up until that moment.
After those two, I might want to look back at WMU. I still have a bad feeling that one of my top towns is scum or more likely a Carrow.
My bet (for post game credit) is TerRaine - Carrow SK, Tubba/Starling/Goo Scum (maybe +1).

Hokay.
Crabbe and Goyle I would expect to be aligned in some manner other than just being on the same team, due to how both they and their sons are shown in canon. They're also portrayed unintelligent strongmen (not the role, though maybe?) so unlikely they are of investigative/roleblocking/information roles. Maybe bodyguards if town.
Expecting Axel, if claim is true, to be Nagini, Pettigrew, or Snape. Snape only if we do have a hidden Harry Potter in here somewhere, which would be amusing theme-wise. If Nagini/Pettigrew then Axel's target is likely one of the original Tom Riddles, not sure who else would even fit the Angel role honestly.
Rhand claims Jugson from a previous role, and is apparently now a Tom Riddle. Going to assume this is correct for now to make things simpler.
Travers might be a roleblocker.
Yaxley was one of the guys who was helping Umbridge "prosecute" Muggleborns during book 7. Roleblocker or info role?
Rosier died during the first War now I look again, taking him out next pass despite his dad still being around apparently?
Mulciber Jr mostly just escaped from Azkaban a lot. Might be a native bulletproof or something.
Nott avoided Azkaban the first time, and then was imprisoned in Book 5. Gravedigger fit Avery cause of the cowardly/flipfloppy portrayal but feel like this one would be at least slightly different.
Selwyn might be investigative.
Rowle didn't do much else besides miss a killing Curse shot and miss out on capturing HP later on. If extant, probably a chance heavy role.
Macnair might be investigative or a roleblocker I suppose.
how does narrowing down which flavor names exist in the game help us solve people's alignments, given that flavor is apparently randed between factions
I assuming Triss is trying to force a name claim, which seems naive or just plain scummy. Flavor is typically unbreakable on this forum. If someone designs a game that can be broken by flavor it usually doesn't make it past review.
@Amy "no i mean

I'm not looking for alignment, I'm looking for abilities. Alignment isn't going to make any sense at all with an entire group of evil villains under a dictator.

Sorry Trisscar. Just stop. There is no way you're breaking this game on flavor. I can't get my head wrapped around what this means right now.
@JoeTerry "I assuming Triss is trying to force a name claim, which seems naive or just plain scummy. Flavor is typically unbreakable on this forum. If someone designs a game that can be broken by flavor it usually doesn't make it past review. "
No I'm not, thanks. Also I was calling that if Rookwood existed, it would be investigative to Osie in Discord from D1. Hence my immediate reaction of "I was right!" when this day started. This game is totally flavor-readable since every flip has made at least some sense thematically so far. What even dude.
The alignment is the issue. Not the flavor and role.
Carrows are 3P in this game and they were ardent Voldemort supporters.
Bellatrix was town and was THE stan/fangirl of vold
Malfoy was town and a lil ***** who turned on Voldy to save his own ass twice.
You're trying to force flavor logic to the alignments when there's no evidence of it and in fact evidence to the contrary. Maybe some to the roles but the alignment is this issue here.

Like why would you go through this whole exercise just to look for abilities? That doesn't matter. You should be spending your time looking for motives and reads INSIDE the thread. You should be looking for alignment. People that don't look for alignment, already know who has what alignment because you know... they have scum chat and know who's on their team and who's not on their team. The only reason I'm not voting you right this second is that I'm starting to think you may be new to this game.
@Amy I fully understand your point about Lagoon, and it makes a lot of sense. Unsure how you assumed everyone would go that far, but your argument is valid and probably correct.
My flavor isn't in Triss' list lol, but I agree that it probably won't be the most helpful to try to flavorgame, even though I'm sure it is fun to speculate lol

This doesn't help town. We don't need to ability hunt. We need to scum hunt.

Disagree. Both are useful.
Yes..... but they were also stated to be devoted to each other to the point of incest. Of the possible teams here they would be the best candidates for a SK team.
...K?
Yes, at the end of Book 7 when his son was threatened. Hence my wondering if we're in the first War or the second, though this game would fit into either right now regardless.
I am not trying to force it to alignments, I've already said this. And given that I could and have laid out why all of these flips make sense thematically I'd say there is evidence.
I still think alignment here is much less cut and dry than yall think. We have at least three different ways to win besides Town majority and Mafia majority. We're also all playing literally the worst people who had much less intrigue in the books than the fandom would prefer. This game is uber multiball shifting of alligences and yall are trying to form a town core isn't of playing it like an actual politics game.
@TerRaine "This doesn't help town. We don't need to ability hunt. We need to scum hunt. "
*Looks at two mislynches and 3-4 NK'd town, 50 pages of arguments and no one listening to each other till Wisp came back in*
*Looks at you*
You'll have to excuse me if I'm doubtful as to the possibly of that helping at this point, I'm afraid.
Modgaming, setupgaming, and flavourgaming will be particularly ineffective.Flavour is mostly random. The setup is unusual for me and unusual for MtGS. I'm probably going to laugh at you behind the scenes if you try this.
You are being.....deliberately scummy and that's suspicious as hell to me.

I did this before when Deadbananas asked me about it, and I've directly asked today with no reply. I'll stop if Osie wants me to, but they've said nothing about it to my knowledge, and I am confident in the patterns I'm seeing.
Ah yes....we mislynched and are struggling...OBVIOUSLY the answer is to do something the Word of Mod said NOT to do. A cunning strategy!
....No....not cunning. What's the opposite of that?
They said it would be ineffective, not that it was disallowed. Again, if Osie would prefer I not do this I will shut up about it immediately.
Yes, struggling. Gee I wonder if we should continue doing the exact same thing as before and hope it ends up with a different outcome. Oh wait there's a meme for that.
Ok Terraine. This is why I have to keep town reading you. Tell me more about your bad hammer.
Not much more to say about it. I thought I was putting DB at L1 because that claim and the idea of wasting a potential vig shot JUST to prove a role mechanic...not even an alignment one was so bad. To me what town says "SURE! Don't try and take out scum shoot ME in the chest like a bunch of hillbillies testing a bulletproof vest in their backyard for *****s and giggles!"
Even if we went along with it...all it told us was that DB didn't lie about the role and jackall about alignment...a BP scum when town has a vig isn't a bizarre game mechanic. We had one in Prison.
It was self serving and not town so he got my vote.
I unfortunately was both wrong in my read AND wrong on what I thought the rules were. I saw Tom said that star's had to be bold and rolled with it cause I figured it was a site mechanic. I will own that muck up.
Ah yes....we mislynched and are struggling...OBVIOUSLY the answer is to do something the Word of Mod said NOT to do. A cunning strategy!

I'm not saying it's not allowed. I'm saying the mod literally says in the rules "performing action X is not effective for solving this game"
....and you're going "BUT WHAT IF WE PERFORMED ACTION X!?!?"
No one is arguing you're breaking rules...they're telling you that this isn't helping Town. I am personally telling you that I think you're ramping this up a notch and I think there's a reason.

It’s not forbidden, but ineffective? Sure.
Unless you can explain why Jugson is a doc.
@Rhand Jugson seemed to be a somewhat impatient man, as shown when he shoved Dolohov aside after the latter had been hit with a Silencing Charm. Despite this he may have possibly cared about his comrades to an extent, as he may have been attempting to help Nott after he was injured when Lucius told him to "come here", though it's equally possible that he was merely trying to catch up to Harry Potter.
@Trisscar you seem to forget that the mark changes/gives abilities so even if everyone will claim, speculating for what is really unknown doesn't help.
Terry saying very explicit that scumhunting itt is what we have to do makes me doubt my read, i have to put a hold on it for now.
Not sure about Terraine, she mentioned a thing but the vibe is different.
I need to change perspective, maybe i was looking in a wrong direction.. Idk.
but honestly i don't feel super strongly about it. think there's a very good chance that flavor claims producer 0 helpful information for either faction tbh
@Rodemy claiming may be more useful for town than for mafia.
I am vanilla until i receive a mark. No one gave me a mark, so i still am vanilla. Regarding my alignament i am town.
I am not poisoned.

Still with 100 posts behind, i thought i have 4 pages to catch up but i had 6.. something pings me really bad but i will say it after i finish the read.
Initial reaction to Triss going on about flavor is “but y tho.”
You are posting few ideas but i don't get where is your head at when you look at the game as a whole.
Can you share your full reads with few reasons for them?
1 wolf in [terr/starling]
1 wolf in [joe/triss]
WMU would be the player without a pairing and thus lock wolf if not for wisp and jack metaclearing her
joe/triss antilign is a much stronger read than terr/starling so terr/starling/joe + triss carrow is also a thing that works
worldbuilding beyond that requires unclearing lagoon or tom. much more likely to reconsider the former than the latter
@Amy posts few variants of possible scum while she clears some players, and the last sentence says she can unclear them and see other worlds, i wonder if i get this right, because if it's like this, this is a typical wolf behaviour who needs to keep their options open and is focused on wordings, to explain in the eventuality of a mislynch that they were not really sure, and make excuses.
Regarding myself, the fact she can't link me with anyone gives her a scum read for my slot if my meta weren't so clearly explained by Wisp - if anything, the lack of connection shows a villager, because this is how things are logically working.
Failing to see a villagery logic here is a problem fmpov.
I would analyse the big reads posts who pinged me first but is way to big to do it on phone.
There is obvious that she can go with so many lynches that my scum radar went nuts. She is pleased with the gamestate, by tone, and she takes her time to explain that so many people may be scum that is worrisome. Her posts are not moving the game forward and are not useful to solve the game.

What? Her poe is four people in the post you quoted. Do you think all of them are town?
I'm down with a full flavorclaim, but I'm really not sure that it'll be AI at all.
I think if Amy is scum, Lagoon likely is too, and vice versa. Not sold that either is yet, but I think it's likely both or none
