Well Rhand/Umami, y'all said this mission would solve the game for you. Walk me through your thought process.
We're gonna take this nice and slow.
Yeah, how I planned on using the mission as a test ended up changing when sloth showed up and gave more info. But in terms of going with the mission my first instinct was to reject it and try to get you/rhand/me because I was like 90% confident we were all good but paranoid about the possibility of a you/rhand bad guys team. Then I thought it through and realized that even if you guys were a team, you could easily pass the 3rd mission if it was you/me/rhand to get a double fail on the 4th and then spin it for the 5th. Given Rhand’s confidence about GJ and my overall feel about you/rhand, I thought we had it. If it failed, I thought it would mean that rhand/you were bad guys setting up GJ to take the fall given how you said you would tunnel him if it failed and how rhand/you avoided being on missions together.
Then sloth showed up and made it clear he was bad, so that initial test plan has gone out the window.

And, to answer the follow-up question, the way sloth approached attacking me just screams bad guy. He asked this super leading rhetorical question pretending he was interested in the answer or hadn’t already decided (“I need some feedback”) but it was pretty obvious to me that he already had decided on the answer and was just seeing if he could get anyone to bite. Not to mention it was about something we’ve already discussed in depth. He’s asking me all these questions but he’s not actually interested in my answers. Especially since he didn’t even bring up the possibility until after GJ nominated me for the mission. Town can tunnel, but town doesn’t pretend to be open-minded with the intention of orchestrating a tunnel.
Also total misrepresentation of my idea to take vaimes on a mission. I was clearly leaning towards bad guy sloth world (I even specified 'more likely shadow/sloth/GJ' in my block or something along those lines and listed it at the top) but I wasn’t sure. Him saying I would choose two people not on that mission and wouldn’t suggest taking Vaimes as a good guy instead of choosing 1 and 1 is blatantly wrong. I had this info 1 out of Vaimes/Sloth bad (with possibility that both bad considered but dismissed as unlikely) so a 50/50 shot between them even if I didn’t have suspicions/a clear preference (also, my preference should be pretty damn clear by me proposing the mission…) and then 2 out of remaining 4 bad so again a 50/50 shot of choosing 1 good guy out of that groups. At worst, my odds are 1/2 x 2/4 = 1/4 chance of choosing right. If I chose only out of people not on the mission, I would have to perfectly choose 2 out of the 4 which would require: 2/4 x 1/3 = 1/6 odds of choosing correctly. So, Sloth, why exactly can you “only think of some uncharitable reasons?” That was rhetorical btw
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

I’m not sure of anything anymore.
Following my gut, I still think Sloth is spy, which automatically means you are as well.
But I also reread Vaimes and lost my conviction of him being a rebel. Which still means you are a spy because then Umami isn’t.
I can’t get rid of the Umami tinfoil in my thoughts either though.

I am afraid you are mistaken sir.
If you are a rebel, it means that if I am the spy, Umani is clear. Umani being the spy would be huge to you as it would mean that Sloth and Vaimes are both clear.
Why would sloth be a spy unless he is exactly spies with me? He surely can't be a spy with Umani at this stage.
Alright guys, I just got done with two of the most stressful days of my life.
I'm drunk, I'm exhausted, and I haven't read a SINGLE POST since my last one.
LET'S DO THISSSSSSSSS
@Vaimes, if you were to make a proposal for 4 players that does not include you, who would your picks be right now?
Why on earth would I do that when that guarantees [whether you believe it or not] selecting a spy?
'Cause I wanna know who you're townreading and in what order to see if you're actually town or if you're scum pretending to have reads you sexy beastttttt
Yup, not spies together at all!
Wait, hopefully this is cheek and not senility. You didn't forget who your spyfriends are did you?

Super defensive to minimal pressure, all else aside.
Believe it or not, I was trying to be objective and get others to be the same. I led them to revisit their conclusions on you, I didn't point out what was wrong, and how it was scummy. Any conclusions they drew, they did themselves without my influence.
And given that no one seems to be particularly against you right now, they didn't draw any negative conclusions.

I'm not. I'm just saying he's not obviously playing to a Spy wincon.

@Vaimess
Your proposal should not have Umami / KJ / [GJ/Rhand]
Not sure which of that last two. Throw a dart or something.
What makes Shadow a rebel?
And how did a team with Umami / [GJ/Rhand] fail last mission with 1 fail?
Luck.
If I had more time, I would go back and try to see if I can find some sort of signal between one of your three to see who would fail. Perhaps on a weird comment like "Rhand's definitely a good Guy" that seems out of nowhere.
Also, perhaps I'm not getting things but passing Mission 3 as scum is not unaffordable, despite what Vaimes claims, specially if it gets you in today's team and then the next one just needs one scum to fail - so it's somewhat possible that if Mission 3 had 2 scum, one thought to pass it simply thinking that's what they'd do. But, well.
As for your other question, kinda what you said: Shadow probably could have failed Mission 1 and try to bury me over it, with enough success for one more mission, at least. Plus he had early solviness (that I kinda wanna see more now), and I'm interested in hearing more from him.
Unless the team included Vaimes, of course - Shadow/Vaimes/?, given the order of the proposals, makes sense in this world.

Not sold on it myself.
I just think Vaimes is less scummy and one of those two HAS to be scum.
Plus she didn't have a great reaction to literally zero pressure (like, I didn't even say she had to be scum?)
That could be NAI though.
@umami btw you have like 3 "please continue"s hanging over you lol
My full thoughts:
Sloth / Shadow: Probably not but possible: Shadow would not have pushed for a repeat of those 2 for the second mission. Sloth however didn’t do the repeat, so it is possible that Shadow was saying that while counting on Sloth not to do it.
Sloth / KJ: possible
Sloth / GJ: possible
Sloth / Umami and Sloth / Vaimes: no because of mission 2
Shadow / KJ, Shadow / GJ, Shadow / Umami and Shadow / Vaimes: all possible, but Shadow being spy without Sloth would have most likely been a fail mission 1. He could have pinned that on Sloth, making mission 2 fail too, putting us in lylo with 3 missions to go.
Considering Shadow is most likely only a spy if Sloth is too, possible worlds:
Shadow / Sloth / KJ
Shadow / Sloth / GJ
KJ / GJ: possible
KJ / Vaimes: possible
KJ / Umami: possible
KJ however rejected all the 1 spy fail missions.
GJ / Umami: no because of mission 3
GJ / Vaimes: possible
Umami / Vaimes: no because of mission 2
That leaves as possible worlds:
Sloth / KJ / GJ
Sloth / Shadow / GJ
Sloth / Shadow / KJ
KJ / GJ / Vaimes
I can’t fit Umami in any teams unless we had a mission fail with 2 spies, which, seeing how fast missions were accepted, I don’t think happened.
Yeah, okay, I’m defensive at baseline. For the record, I don’t mind Sloth questioning me or urging others to, it would be crazy not to. But the timing plus the way he presented his arguments/his approach/misrepresented/etc. is what pinged me (or what’s a stronger term?)—which I’ve already explained. Sloth, I’m not going to continue, I know you’re bad so 1) I can’t change your mind and 2) I don’t need or want to — I’m not going to waste my limited time.
If other people have questions that they need me to explain similar to sloth's, let me know. Otherwise just ignoring and moving on.
I need to read back from the start but don't have time right now. Hopefully will get time this evening. Who has played resistance/avalon with sloth before?
Team three can't exist unless Umani is a wolf if Rhand is town. I really want to buy rhand is a rebel, but he is missing some really weird obvious stuff, even for someone like me that still doesn't quite understand the why the mechanics are balanced. This seems like such a wolf sided game, unless one of two things happen.
I think the other possible part is that looking into fails is hard to do. Will spies 100% pass a mission with 1 spy, and 100% fail one with two or more spies or all rebels?
Like, I will probably vote fail on any mission that doesn't include me. Sorry, but true.
Let’s aim for the easy worlds first and assume only one scum in each mission.
-Umami is lock clear in this world.
-KJ is lock scum in this world.
1 in Sloth/Vaimes + 1 in Rhand/GJ
This is my rough order of likelihood without yet looking back at antialigns. Basically Vaimes seems slightly more above sloth and GJ is above Rhand. The 2 main factors here: Sloth picked a non me grouping (Yes, this is me centric, but I had been signaling readiness to have a strong showing if the mission went south), and I kinda feel like he had to then go for the mission he proposed when Umami re-proposed it. Second, GJ’s coming around to think Rhand was likely town enough to take him on the mission is kind of bizarre to me.
Oh a point slightly in GJ’s favor, him complaining multiple times about the game balance would be cheeky scum maneuvering.
Harder worlds: multiple scum on a mission.
Since it doesn’t matter at this point, the easiest way scum can get a single fail in a double scum mission is by the leader being the fail.
In this world, Rhand/Umami I can safely rule out. Probably sloth/Vaimes as well, as sloths proposal was voted down, and umami running it would make that a tossup for them. Vaimes/umami is a little more possible, but with Vaimes voting yes when sloth proposed it, which would be another tossup. The most plausible world here is GJ/Umami.
Of note, (and this is why I just asked my KJ question) in all scenarios except a double scum mission both times, KJ is always scum. I haven’t gotten an answer yet at the time of writing this, but fingers crossed he outs himself here. Conclusion:
The ideal mission I’d accept for this proposal is me/umami/Vaimes/GJ. I think.
Tomorrow (fake edit: Today) is going to be about working out Rhand/GJ; depending on Vaimes proposal, digging in to him as well.

So you’re a spy. Unless there is a mission with multiple spies.

@Umami: at one point you were unsuccessfully posting gifs. What was in them?
When I copy the links, I get that the host marked them as private.
Oh, I spent forever trying to post a “let it go” frozen gif. Sloth eventually posted it for me.
Thx. I wasn’t sure if you were trying for the same gif.
It looked like secret communication for a sec, but you posting that particular give first looks better.

That’s why I didn’t rule out KJ
Or Umani is. From your perspective, to believe this absolutely is troubling.
ugh, too bad that wasn't proposal 4.44 on post 444 :/
I don't really care if this mission gets accepted. These are my townreads, I think. I almost want GJ over KJ, but I think GJ is playing up the "oh no this game is spy-sided" thing and. It's kind of working on me.

I think.
Tomorrow (fake edit: Today) is going to be about working out Rhand/GJ; depending on Vaimes proposal, digging in to him as well.
heh wth how did I miss that?
So you’re a spy. Unless there is a mission with multiple spies.
That’s why I didn’t rule out KJ
Thx. I wasn’t sure if you were trying for the same gif.
It looked like secret communication for a sec, but you posting that particular give first looks better.
Or Umani is. From your perspective, to believe this absolutely is troubling.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
Based on?
Shadow hasn't been on a relevant mission.
The GJ way path to no lynching:
I don't really care if this mission gets accepted. These are my townreads, I think. I almost want GJ over KJ, but I think GJ is playing up the "oh no this game is spy-sided" thing and. It's kind of working on me.
GJ over KJ would mean no one on the spy team failed mission 2
You have 24 hours to vote and submit your mission choice.
I feel like Sloth.
