Yeah, doing anything productive this weekend is looking less and less likely. I'm basically entertaining family and can't devote much time to this game. So it's skimming and random thoughts until next week I suspect. Maybe if something dramatic happens.
I'm going to do the thing I said I didn't want to do though and give my very uninformed gut reads because I feel guilty.
The Town:
10. Axelrod - that's me!
The Town-ish:
6. vezokpiraka - I don't actually have a super town read, but Mason claim for now is not being lynched.
14. Gemma - the best poster?
11. Killjoy - next best?
15. Nachomamma8 - he likes to overwhelm with words which I don't care for, but seems sincere?
8. dkingsland967 - fine
2. Lastwhisper - goes up and down. His style is hard to read. More fine than not so, here.
The True Shrugs:
12. tomsloger -
16. fulcrum - remember nothing except I feel he's been posting more than the others
13. SlothfulGrapefruit21 - remember nothing
17. Asta - remember noting
3. shadowlancerxJackrito - remember nothing
The at-least-a-little scummish:
7. Rhand - sneaky no trust
4. Vaimes - sneaky no trust
9. M1ndreaver - not posting. Really bad disappearing act.
1. Silvercrys3467 - fanning flames on Mindreaver? He's posting though. Probably should not be this low, but, sneaky no trust.
5. KittyCupCake - not posting. Not agreeing with her when she is posting
If this helps someone, more power to you.
It's raining reads, hallelujah, it's raining reads, amen!
I'm gonna go out to run and let myself get absolutely soaking wet!
I find it very difficult to believe that anyone could believe I am the best poster in this game. How did you arrive at that conclusion?
It has been brought to my attention that Slothful made a slight OOG comment on this game. He mentioned in a post game chat that he was sorry that he had to swap out due to IRL situation. The other players involved told him to "Stop talking" and that was all that was exchanged. What Slothful said was near identical to something he said to me. I don't think Slothful meant anything of the comment he made. I am only bringing it to the attention of everyone so that the informational playing field is level.
K I'm back! Gonna do stuff now. Got a few pages to read harder.
Welcome, Jackarito and Grape.
@dkingsland: First, do you believe Vezok's claim? You made a big old post in 801 about her, but following her claim on your post back there was a noticeable lack of comment on that. You moved your vote, sure but given the conviction in that read I was expecting a little more. Second question for you here is a two-parter: If you believe the claim, who are the scum pushing him when he claimed, and if you don't believe it, do you think the wagon is pure?
Vezok: If you indeed have a mason partner, they should not claim yet. That role will be much more useful with fewer people alive.
Axel: So you have a reason to scumread him, cool. So you apparently are scumreading him enough for legit want to lynch him.
You didn't actually answer the rest of my question though. Why is [basically inactive player with bravado with no follow through] better than [players who are here and with enough poking you could make a decently strong case against] to lynch? Why are you satisfied with such a weak-ass case?
Vaimes: re: fulcrum's point about defending: Her point is not wholly without merit, Vaimes. Your resistance to it isn't entirely uncalled for either, but her point is mostly correct, I'd say. The only correction I'd make is to say that "removing someone from the lynch list isn't only ignoring, but is also defending." I'm not a huge fan of your reaction to this accusation, nor her vote.
Also while I'm actively scumreading Rhand, I do agree with the focus on LHF. On that point, what do you think about Axel? He's been very vocal about how scummy Mind is. Do you think he's trying to attack the low hanging fruit?
Talk to me about tom as well. He keeps kinda defaulting to voting Mind. Now I think he's voting you. Is he scum?
Same with KCC actually. She's recently made a mini-post about Mind that has him as scum. Is she attacking the low-hanging Mind too?
Discuss those three reads for me.
Silver: Why are you voting Mindreaver, then saying you don't want (a lynching amount of) more votes on him in the next few days? Wouldn't not voting, but declaring he was scum or something achieve that goal a little more?
Fulcrum: On your reads list, you have tom as town(ish). Can you give examples as to why?
God, 915 dropped my read on Asta a bit. Specifically his reads are like, opposite mine quite a few times. Not sure whats up there.
935 possibly feels sincere though. I'll dwell on that.
Rhand: Why does that post (941) make Vaimes look good unless Grape is scum with him?
Gemma: Maybe by 'best poster' he's referring to the poster he's printed out and hung above his bed. It's the only explanation I can find for me being up there as well.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Bleh, I’m gonna be without my laptop tonight so I’ll pull quotes either in the morning or tomorrow night.
KJ, I really don’t agree. To me defending implies an attack somewhere, whether current or impending. Saying I’m defending tom is ludicrous and makes no sense to me, given how the thread is treating him and how he’s treating me.
I’ll talk about Axel in a bit.
I don’t have a scumread on tom or KCC, though her remark about scumreading me but not wanting to deal with it right now was weird and I’m waiting to hear back on that. tom seems to have completely forgotten how to read me, and I just don’t feel like talking to his gimmick. Unless he wants to put actual posts in spoilers or something.
And I’ve said multiple times that Axel feels like he’s LHF hunting. At the moment I can’t recall who he’s been poking at other than KCC or Mind. Probably Silver too, just based on his list, but haven’t noticed as much.
And a lot of his townreads don’t look sincere with all the hemming and hawing.

Mind is kind of the most important topic that's happened so far this game I feel, so here's a little explanation on that. I've realized that if he's scum he's beyond the point of really having scum gaining town points for his lynch. It's like, completely stale, and continuing to push that way is just... not good scum play. It's kinda for that reason I'm kinda thinkig that slot is town. I feel like he's more likely town LHF than scum being sacrificed because people keep coming back to it. It's just weird behavior for a scum wagon.
I'm still in the process of deep-reading but that's kinda where I'm at now. I'll draw up specific explanations for whichever spot is asked for, but I'm kinda working on doing them all at once right now/tomorrow.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It can imply an attack, sure. One could make the argument that the environment of scrutiny and analysis is a constant form of attack in Mafia. Saying that you don't want a person lynched is alao saying you don't want others to lynch them either, including people who are scumreading them.
What attack do you think fulcrum is accusing you of defending from?
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. I just think that read is wrong, and idk why town!Rhand wastes his energy on vaimes unless you are both wolves
The problem with vaimes is his polarized playstyle, and it's not just tone, like you can see that he truly cares when he is town, I don't get that vibe here
I just see bad defenses, excuses for inactivity, and "no u" arguments, also his false bravado which is just overkill at this point when it comes to his responses to scum reads
Why does that post in particular feel like it wouldn't come from a wolf?
Why do so many reads this game just feel like TMI and/or have really reachy reasonings behind them

That is the point.
Unvote, vote Axel
The thing with him is I haven't really liked his targets. He's been poking slash making off-hand comments at KCC, KJ, Mind. Somewhat easy-to-justify targets, and he did mention that he doesn't have strong stances Day 1 but it's still very very eh, will check that out when I have time. I can't trim quotes and don't want to post a huge wall, but his ISO isn't that long.
The one where he called out KCC for going V/LA without content seemed very out of character for him. I think the villager version of that post is "can you please post about xyz before you go?" or "when you get back, can you answer xyz questions I have for you?" or something Instead it's just shade for shade's sake.
I'm also kind of weirded out by his interactions with Nacho. He looks like he should be a scumread for Axel, but isn't. Feels a little posture-y.
I was going to pull quotes but then I saw it would involve a lot of trimming and decided not to. His ISO isn't that long, and I'm citing more a general overall feel rather than a smoking gun. Aside from the KCC post, and maybe the Nacho interactions, and such.
I think part of my issue this game Vaimes is that one of the main ways I read you is by how you exist in thread and interact with people and that's not really possible here. Tbh everything about the way this game has been played so far has kind of hamstrung me.
I guess my position on Mindreaver isn't as clear as I thought?
I think he's probably a wolf
I think if we're going to keep talking about his same ten posts we should just maj him, replacements can catch up over Night and such
I think that's not necessarily the *correct* thing but at the time I said it, it felt like a lot of people were focusing on him and I wanted to avoid grinding the game to a halt
Prior to my vote for him, I wasn't voting anyone pending a reread. I voted him so that if people wanted to maj him they could. I pretty specifically said I wouldn't be terribly upset if he got maj'd over the holiday and then a bit later I told Axel that wasn't necessarily what I wanted but I'd much rather do that than talk about nothing but him for the next week and a half (now one week, but still)
-------------
I still feel like Last is describing Vaimes' meta and not his actual play this game, it happens almost every time he even mentions the guy.
It's really weird but I'm not sure what to do about it, he's relatively villagery other than that? Ehhh
Guess I'm going to focus on Axel when I get computer time later, he's felt villagery to me though
Random question, but has anyone scumreading Axel actually posted why they’re scumreading him?
Who is scumreading Axel besides you and Killjoy?
I don’t know, I just had a moment where it seemed like some other people were but no one was really talking about it. At one point you and Nacho voted him and I followed, and then we did that with dk.
@Last: Vaimes was in my possible lynch pile, and what he did there was townie (if Grape is town).
@whoever asked: if Grape is scum, Vaimes can say whatever without it mattering. If Grape isn’t, then what motivation could scum!Vaimes possibly have to suggest to ISO him? That would make no sense whatsoever.
@rhand
I don't get why scum!vaimes couldn't say that either... It's literally just words
@silver
And yes it is mostly a meta read since vaimes greatest weakness as a wolf is consistency, unless he's forcibly trying to change his meta this game which I don't believe
As well as no one is omg obvious scum right now, I'm trying to find anything that gives me doubt that someone is town.
I think KJ is scum. After all the times he was wrong about my alignment, I should be at least in his lean reads.
As town I always saw him evolve the read at least. Now he just throws me in his mafia reads.
I think he sees me as an easy “scumread“ because I always catch flak early game.
I had a dream that I was mod-killed in this game for inactivity.
For some reason I find that humorous.
I have said, more than once, which I think you probably are aware of, that I'm not really pushing anyone right now. Because it is D1 and there have been no flips, and everything is mostly just feeling, and I don't really do that. I generally need more to work with. On D1, ironically, the best info I get can is from people attacking me, because at least I know that's wrong, and I can attempt to judge sincerity.
That and claims.
And lurkers.
Basically those people.
It is also possible if I re-read the thread from the beginning something might stand out. But that's hugely time consuming and so, so much more productive to do after there have been a few flips. My dedication to this game has not reached that level yet. If I live to the end, I will kill it. Promise.

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
Gemma: I'm not seeing a lot of town motive in your posts. That's why you're null. You're actually on the low end of null.
Silver: I feel like the best way to keep the game from grinding to a halt is to... focus on other people. Just let Mindreaver get replaced, focus on whatever scumreads you have who aren't Mindreaver, then people can talk about that for a bit.
So Silver, who is your next favorite lynch today and why?
Rhand: You don't actually believe I'm scum. You don't care why I think you're scum. You're strawmanning it as "because it's easy" when there's a whole post devoted to which posts I was scumreading (not why, but you could have asked) so it's obviously not "because it's easy".
And with regards to Vaimes asking someone to ISO Grape... it's weak. Especially since Sloth had.... basically nothing to his name. He didn't post enough to formulate a coherant mindset. ISOing Sloth doesn't really give much in the way of alignment for Sloth, let alone Grape.

Ok. That's fair for the most part. Lurking doesn't imply active intent to lurk (which is the scum thing) but sure.

@Last: It's fine to have a meta read but I don't feel like you're connecting the dots between "this is Vaimes' meta* and "this is Vaimes' alignment" by actually saying things he's doing that match that meta. You just keep referring to it as if it's self explanatory.
@KJ: Yes, I've literally been saying that for days now. I don't have one at the moment, was planning on rereading at least parts of the game because Vezok's claim threw a lot of my thoughts on the game state into disarray but I haven't gotten to it yet because of the holidays. If I had a second choice I'd be voting them.
@silver
So ur point is what? Lynch a lurker and move on? Like I think vaimes meta and alignment are super polarized, so yes I am connecting the dots
Maybe u think he hasn't done anything wolfy per say, and that's fine
Inconsistent vaimes = wolfy vaimes, I'll take that to the grave, if he steps it up I'll probably flip it, since it's possible that everyone win is just dead because of the lack of content from half the playerbase, but I'm not going to just plop my vote on a lurker just because they are lurking either
Yeah, because Grape won't pay attention at all to Vaimes unless Vaimes points him that way, obviously. /s

People in tiers not in order.
What attack do you think fulcrum is accusing you of defending from?
Also, wanna lynch Axel with me?
I wanna do that. Vote Axel
Would appreciate a post or two about where you're at with the game right now, big picture, and a readlist.

I'd avoid Twilight. That's about what I've got.

Hotdog Taste Test, Lisa Hanawalt
A few of my favorites.
Why do so many reads this game just feel like TMI and/or have really reachy reasonings behind them
Me, Lastwhisper, jackrito

So what about vaimes posts make him townie then?
@whoever asked: if Grape is scum, Vaimes can say whatever without it mattering. If Grape isn’t, then what motivation could scum!Vaimes possibly have to suggest to ISO him? That would make no sense whatsoever.
I don't get why scum!vaimes couldn't say that either... It's literally just words
@silver
And yes it is mostly a meta read since vaimes greatest weakness as a wolf is consistency, unless he's forcibly trying to change his meta this game which I don't believe
As well as no one is omg obvious scum right now, I'm trying to find anything that gives me doubt that someone is town.
As town I always saw him evolve the read at least. Now he just throws me in his mafia reads.
I think he sees me as an easy “scumread“ because I always catch flak early game.
vote Killjoy
How is telling someone to ISO yourself as part of a catch up just words?
Do you believe in alignment tells at all?
Ok so thinking about it, I guess I can understand what you are getting at somewhat
For some reason I find that humorous.
Promise.
Of your detractors, who is sincere? Who isn't?
@KJ: Yes, I've literally been saying that for days now. I don't have one at the moment, was planning on rereading at least parts of the game because Vezok's claim threw a lot of my thoughts on the game state into disarray but I haven't gotten to it yet because of the holidays. If I had a second choice I'd be voting them.
