I personally wouldn't choose being self aware as means to read Vaimes. I think we're alike in that we ooze self awareness regardless of alignment. I went back to check his first 30ish posts in DitF and he's reasonably self aware there too. Though it's not worth fighting about given our agreement.
Talk to me about RE. I know the book on her used to be that she's unmotivated and tends to crumble as scum. Is that still largely true? I saw she was nominated for champs by MAL and I'd figure there was some degree of level up to her scum game.
Semi-hot take-Rhand is well above rand to be town.
I will, as ModShadow is my witness, make every effort to keep this a positive game. If your plan is to be a jerkbutt, I recommend you change your plan or I WILL CHANGE IT FOR YOU. Don't make me meme.

I feel like this is a genuine post from cantra that should be completely nai and yet you put a read on it why?
THRRROOOONNNEEES YEAH. GAME OF THROOOONNNNEEES YEAH.. GAME OF THROOONES. (THRONES YEAH GAME OF THRONES YEAH GAME OF THRONES)
vote sir chris
Hey budddddy. How ya doooooing.
nice to see you rolled town this game
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM.
Also, how the **** did you get that from just one post?
Scum with inside information.
Vote Wisp
Hey ya'll I'm neutral that can with the town. I am the Iron Bank.
Basically I can offer up a JOAT of abilities to players and if they achieve their faction achievements I can consider the debt paid off. I need to achieve a few repayments in order to achieve my win condition.
I have abilities to offer up such as,
The Golden Company - Which gives a player a Vig shot that also can't be RoleBlocked.
I also have abilities such as,
Ledger of Titles - Which allows a player to recruit that player to their faction.
Overall I think that I can help the town win the game and will provide a full list of my abilities to the town so they can determine how to use them. I'm up for popular vote.
I have finals today so I'm going to be pretty busy, but this claim is about as serious as my vote on Wisp.
@Shinichi Your brother rolled scum lets end his misery.
Honestly I believe your claim, i don't know how you relate to town so i'll be wary but i see the town motivation in revealing this early. Which means for once I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but I won't push my brother off of shallow reads.
Rodemy I hate you so much. So, so much. So so much.
Vaimes I saw what you said in the scum chat of the last game about the experience humbling me and let me assure you it will not.
Anyway I am campaigning for the Iron Throne because clearly I know how to lead as long as Killjoy doesn't shank me repeatedly without me getting to say a word.
##vote:Killjoy
Please die before you can hurt me more, bad man.
Also D_V claiming neutral is a ... bold move. I also vote we give me the vig shot. Basically give me all of the powers please so that I can murder scum before someone has bad ideas.
Also Tom if town please stop saying "I am the towniest as defense" ty love you.
----
I am the towniest of towns now fight me :D, also its bold but smart.
I went from school to work, I'll have to reread and see if I can work the same magic, but it's doubtful, since how someone enters a game is more so based on the player rather than the alignment, unless they are deeply self-aware
Also in terms of my own self-meta, I'm a walking ball of contradiction, so good luck trying to make any read off of me based on my opinions from one game to another, in every case it's NAI
@highroller
You are on my watch list, that shade was kinda cute given that more of the people in the time that I called the votes poor, were scum...
Literally, grr, vaimes, mindreaver, and rodemy, then there was Tom? And someone else?
Rhand. Tau. KamikazeArchon. Killjoy. EtR. Riku. That's a total of 10 people in a 16 person game. In other words, you mafia-read 2/3 of the players who weren't you.
I don't do read lists, and most certainly not when people ask, or this early anyways
Yeah, I'm not buying it. While you didn't post a read list, you had no problems declaring other people mafia/town, or posting commentary on the read lists of others, within the first handful of pages in Death in the Family mafia, and that was in a game that you specifically said you were going to "take this game slower" than your previous games. Timidity towards making declarations early is definitely not you, not you as town anyway. Vote LastWhisper.
I personally wouldn't choose being self aware as means to read Vaimes. I think we're alike in that we ooze self awareness regardless of alignment. I went back to check his first 30ish posts in DitF and he's reasonably self aware there too. Though it's not worth fighting about given our agreement.

Semi-hot take-Rhand is well above rand to be town.
Man with all of the separate factions I don't know if I trust these hot take reads.
Wisp's read on Rodemy is shallow, but so are the reads on Wisp.
the reads on me are level 0 that's for sure, but my read on rodemy is 11/10... They just mad cause they ain't me
It's an okay read.
I see where you're coming from - scum!Rodemy would probably be sick of rolling scum so many times in a row that they would not enter the thread how they did here as scum. But it's also the correct way to approach the thread as scum, mimicking the excitement they'd feel as town hypothetically.
ur right it is the correct way to approach the thread, but not to ***** on Rod's ability as a player, but I don't think from last game he has this exponential jump in skill, and it's not even only that, I am highly skilled at tonally reading entrances even outside of the slight meta I am using, anyways gotta drive for an hour
Think about it thought, for someone who really loves GOT its very possible to come into a thread with genuine excitement about the flavor. That shouldn't really clear him at all because if i am excited about a game my alignment wouldnt change that excitement.
Talk to me about RE. I know the book on her used to be that she's unmotivated and tends to crumble as scum. Is that still largely true? I saw she was nominated for champs by MAL and I'd figure there was some degree of level up to her scum game.
I can talk about myself, unless you were looking for another player's perspective?
I'm actually kinda mad that people on this site think I'm so polarized that they could even hope to find me scum this early, or by even assocations, I'm referring to Minds comment before he voted you.
Apparently Lastwhisper declaring that it's too early to do something pages after he declared someone mafia for their entrance alone is NAI after all. Unvote.
Vote Rhand for not travelling to Stuttgart! Real talk though, I will probably end up somewhere in Belgium this summer, hurray!
Throwing my vote behind Sir Chris for the Iron throne for now. Anyone else down for Sir Chris as D1 chair sitter?
I also accept DV as an Onion Knight to Sir Chris.
I would rather vote DV to the throne because I tend to have a hard time reading his slot and it be easier for me if the slot was just revealed as town unless hes mafia that be even more funny

This is LastWhisper this game when one person claims he's not clairvoyant.
Vote LastWhisper. The fact that you're simultaneously claiming you can guess someone's alignment in the first post, while simultaneously arguing it's too early to post reads might be something you did in Death in the Family mafia, but this level of defensiveness isn't.
I went from school to work, I'll have to reread and see if I can work the same magic, but it's doubtful, since how someone enters a game is more so based on the player rather than the alignment, unless they are deeply self-aware
I do realize those statements aren't mutually exclusive but they also come on.
Also why would being self ware change it? If anything being very self aware is more likely to make an entrance subject to the players individual idiosyncrasies.
@HR yeah I think you're correct in reading into that aspect of the rules. The raised wights as scum theory is cool, but I'm guessing this will lean into the political backstabbing aspects for reasons.

I mean, if you knew who to trust and weren't afraid of constantly being backstabbed, this would not be Game of Thrones.
Now, the thing that I really don't know what to make of is this:
and flavor will be functionally random between the factions.
Vote Rhand for not travelling to Stuttgart! Real talk though, I will probably end up somewhere in Belgium this summer, hurray!

Not much -- more in person than online. Nevertheless, I self nominate for the iron throne! I'm assuming I will not be especially good at this game given I don't know how all the rules work yet and I know you guys might want to go with Sir Chris or someone more experienced, but experienced people can do some real damage with power so I think I'm ultimately the safer option. Side note, why specifically do we want the iron throne? Like I assume it gives you power or something?--I'll reread the rules again

still on the fence of highroller, seems to quite sure of this bad read on me, cant conclude if hes just playing poorly as town, or he's scum, the amount of detail and research between games he has done points more to the latter, but I doubt im that good, and a decent amount of players still havent posted yet

hmm, meta reads are piss poor, but I think this could be town!highroller based on his iso of Death in the Family, still too early
I do like that he actually re-evaluated me, even if he ended up back on me, makes it feel like it isnt forced
@highroller
It was my first game back, it was kinda cute, since the game prior to it, I was put at L1 in the first few posts of that game
How I choose to act one game, has no prevalence on how I choose to act this game... We can also talk about mafia theory, and how putting myself in the lime-light is poor, if I was mafia, I dont need to do anything, I mean I tried it once on MU, I was super hyper-aggressive in my posting style, but did a complete 180 day 2, since I realized I didnt need to do anything for town to tear its self apart
The player that takes the throne will be revealed during the end of day scene.
Nothing in there about the person's rolename or alignment being revealed.
Though, that would be hilarious. Imagine people electing the person they trust least to the Iron Throne because they want to know whether or not they should kill him or not?
-------
Oh, I actually missed this part:
While flavor is not relevant to traditional alignment, it may be relevant to another player or house’s alternate Wincon, and revealing it may not be in your best interest. You have been warned.
This explains what flavor being random among the factions means.
Vote Rhand for not travelling to Stuttgart! Real talk though, I will probably end up somewhere in Belgium this summer, hurray!

Hey dude, so admittedly still learning how to read people without the benefit of facial expression and body language, but Highroller's pointing out that your instant read was a little sketch, which a lot of other people pointed out, and then taking an example from a previous game comparing it to this game and explaining that a super defensive tone is off for you seemed to make sense. So big question for me is why would his read be considered "playing poorly as town." Like is there a specific flaw or inconsistency you see with his read? Is there a reason that your tone has changed this game compared to last if you're town? I've never played with HR but the points he makes seem grounded in some (weak) evidence and make sense to me. Your response that he's either scum or playing poorly seems pretty defensive, which is what he called you out for in the first place
Alright I'm going to spend some time theory crafting on page three, because why not?
So, as I said in the sign ups I played around with a setup really similar to this. However, my smallest player group was a faction of three.
There being at least one faction of one comes as a surprise to me since it wasn't something I had thought of as design space. I assumed that all players would have access to a chat due to the primer, and that is not the case.
There are multiple potential one man houses in my mind.
Sir Onion Knight(Davos Seaworth), but also could be part of a Stark. But Stark probabally isn't Stark its probabally divided into the two pretendors.
Bran makes some sense, but I think Bran also makes sense in Stark.
Baelish wouldn't surprise me as a possibility either.
Frey could also be on its own, which is a great meme in itself due to how many there was.
Free Cities as well perhaps?
In game faction opens up a lot of other options as well. Alright enough on names who really cares other than largely anti-town mechanics here.
I'm also wondering if the Black Watch has the option to gain more members too, like if some players can "Take the black" etc.
In terms of Iron Throne there may be some players that achieve victory on winning iron throne X times(More than 2 seems cruel), or on certain days.
I'm 99% sure that if Arya exists this game she must kill certain players.
On to the Iron Throne mechanics. I'll need to take a long look back at Phoenix Wright Mafia. Because that's basically the same mechanic but only one elected. I personally don't think the Iron Throne is THAT big of a deal, and that it will likely be more about achieving goals for players more than something that is highly game changing for either side.
Also, let's look at your votes, in Death in the Family, where outside voting scum once, which was Grr, you went back and forth on town throughout the rest of the game, till you die going into F3
maybe leave scum hunting to the big boys?
Whats more dangerous? having wrong reads and strongly pushing them? or letting others make the cases and sheeping those?
@1053
because again I am the leading train, and he's producing evidence to garner votes on a town train, so should I think he's playing well?
Gotcha, confirmation bias is bad
But then again, would scum feel the need to add more evidence onto the leading train? Like it seems like a bit of a risk with little reward. But you think it's more likely he took that risk and is scum?
Talk to me about RE. I know the book on her used to be that she's unmotivated and tends to crumble as scum. Is that still largely true? I saw she was nominated for champs by MAL and I'd figure there was some degree of level up to her scum game.

its as risky as me being as upfront as I am as scum, we can argue personality plays some parts in how someone chooses to play, and I've seen a few scum who rather create and push the narrative rather than allow town to do it, but a player like that is few and far between, my current conclusion is that high roller is probably just town, maybe its premature who knows

But don't make up some kind of win record that doesn't exist. You can't declare 11 out of 15 players who aren't you to be mafia and then claim some kind of clairvoyance.
And your over-defensiveness is in stark (not a pun) contrast with your behavior in Death in the Family mafia. I openly invite people read Day 1 of that game. Not necessarily the whole day, it's over two-dozen pages long, but read at least the preliminary pages because that's when the LastWhisper bandwagon happened.
