many scholars believe rock paper scissors has been around since before humans developed fingers. Mostly everyone chose rock, and would often illustrate the pure power of the choice
It is now day 1. You may post.
With 7 alive, it takes 4 votes to lynch.
Deadline would be... christmas...
Uh... lets make it the 26th at noon PST.
I love how the OP picture has rock all like "i pity the foo'" and then scissors is like "don't mess with the shredder" and then paper is like "HI ROCK I KILL YOU WITH KINDNESS HAVE A HUG YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!"
@Shadow: How will you convince me you're town this game?
...do I take your memory lapse concerning mafia terminology as you just not having played for a while (despite plenty of spectating), or are you intentionally derping?
I don’t think so. Maybe neutrals since you get to play the game in a rare and untraditional sense.
Ah, a man(?) after my own heart. It seems like very few people actually enjoy playing neutrals, but I appreciate the additional challenge. What's the most memorable neutral role you've played?
Hope the game picks up soon; I'm in a sorting mood.

Neither, I just could not think of the word, you know the feeling when something you know just doesn’t come to mind?

I am genuinely annoyed that I’ve never rolled neutral.I want to say something wrt grape’s cether read, but don’t have anything substantive, so I’m just gonna see what unfolds.
Hmm, I’m wondering, and I think this might be helpful to get out early so that it can’t be used later, does everyone prefer to win at R/P/S (P/R/S for Grape) or do people prefer to tie/lose as well. I specifically don’t think anyone should be claiming any part of their role currently, just curious about preference here.
It should be obvious from how that’s written, but I want to win.

I debated posting something very similar to this, but I wasn't sure it was in our best interests...
I am explicitly abstaining from answering your question at this time for [reason], but there may be benefit in other people answering. Take from that what you will.

I think it’s probably those cultist games from SC2 arcade that make you realize how broken that role is. Super fun to play, not too great to play against.

I think this would be useful later maybe for coordinating certain players to get there desired result by having them dual someone that would decide a specific R/P/S before the night but I don't know if it helps on day 1 or if maybe it provides more help to mafia than the town but I don't really know how to analyze it.

Possibly noteworthy info for later?
because what I want is noteworthy later on, it should make sense that knowing what everyone wants is useful. I specifically think that knowing before we’ve established feelings for other players will help insofar as if scum ends up being under suspicion, they can’t tailor their desires later on. And in general this information isn’t actually huelpful to scum because it’s incomplete.
Thinking more it might not be the worst idea to mass claim here. My main concern is a mafia role that messes with the mini game but outside that a mass claim and night action plan is probably a decent way to play this game.
I don't think I would agree with a day 1 mass claim. But looking back on it I would be OK with claiming what rock/paper/scissor result is desired for each player because Shadow said he wants to win, but my R/S/P preferred result doesn't exactly match.
Maybe we can figure out if certain players have specific preferred outcomes. Then again though I think that if the scum all had the same preferred result and the town had the same preferred then that would just be poorly crafted roles and I don't want to believe that. So now I'm not as for it as I was when I was originally typing this but at least I can bring the thought out while I have it written here and see what everyone thinks.

I think we’d should table the massclaim idea at least for now and just do result preference and then do some behavior gaming from there.

as usual, no. mass claims are *****.

I am also called Riku. I tend to prefer being called riku.
I believe day 1 should try and avoid as much claiming as possible (the usual claims that are acceptable to me: miller and when almost hammered).
in general I agree with you. I’m suggesting we claim desired results because it specifically gives zero information and can be used later on to hold people accountable. @Grape, it’s specifically not intended to help coordinate later, as I think that’s sub optimal currently.
Ohhh. Interesting. I was completely misunderstanding your idea then.
So the idea is get that out now to lock people into that aspect of their claim later. I'm still not convinced that does anything, but I'll think on it.
Allows us to put a non detrimental amount of information out in to the game that can be later looked back on and used to know when players could have won their R/P/S and that they would have been able to use their role when they said they did. No impact on day 1 I don't think, (unless the way each players preferable results match a pattern which would be weird. Which would lead to a whole other problem but this is unlikely) but useful on later days.
The point really comes down to it being non game-able data points that could help us later. It’s possible that it won’t be of any help, but it’s good to have down.
Either way, I think people should say “I prefer to win/lose/draw” and then we can stop talking about it and get to real Mafia. Because while I brought this up, it does start to create a smokescreen for scum to hide in when let go too long.

I've decided I'm okay with this even though I partially think it won't do anything.

@Shadow: How will you convince me you're town this game?
Anyway, if you’re also town, then I figure we should veer towards synchronized thoughts at some point.
Anyway, yeah. Infinity, I’d also like to hear what your Mafia experience is.
I’ve got a couple of games on this site from some years ago, mostly casual games with friends in rl, not much on forums.
I don’t think so. Maybe neutrals since you get to play the game in a rare and untraditional sense.

Slightest of slight town vibes from Cether.
Call me dubious. What in Cether's posts plucked your town!possible strings?

On Cether it was the tone talking about favorite alignment. Just felt so relaxed for someone away from the forum game for so long.
I still have no feeling either way as far as that take on cether.
I wouldn't expect you to. It's a weak stance but I feel it.
And yeah having win/loss/draw preferences doesn't do anything on it's own other than leak information. Doesn't let us plan or ID anything.
I think it’s probably those cultist games from SC2 arcade that make you realize how broken that role is. Super fun to play, not too great to play against.
Pls not alread.
Dude who prefers neutral is the best person itg.
Cantrip has had a good SOD or something.
Reads reads reads.
Well,
I usually play Mafia on epicmafia.com. Have a 80% win rate.
Anyways,,,
I don't have a constant internet connection, so please dont bandwaggon me because I'm not alwawys here.
I have a really big problem with that on other sites.
Looking forward to scumhunting with you!
Infinity, deadlines and activity are pretty relaxed here, so you should be fine as long as you don’t disappear for like 3-4 days straight.
I know how it goes - all good. Just always find day starts awkward on slow sites like this.
I flourish in an environment of constant *****posting and on MTGS we're at like... 2 *****posts per decade.
CN you elaborate on your grapefruit thoughts a bit?

Ruma, address my last post to you.

Anyways, I was scrolling through the messages and found "MASS CLAIM"
So the way I see it, you want us to reveal one possible result of rps?
Uuhh, what does that achieve?
I could almost garuntee that would spread misinformation.
Still dont understand what the point is

I prefer draw>win>loss
I prefer Lose>Win>Draw
