I feel like I'm saying things and people are either ignoring me or saying it's scummy but then someone else (In this case wuffles) says the EXACT SAME THING and everyone nods amicably.
I hope osie wins because yall got played with this obvious spy mission

Nah, Killjoy replaces me on your theoretical team. If you did the same mission but replaced me and vezok with you and grape, it would still have 1 failure.
I think the scum on that squad has to be Osie. Vezok has just been playing his towngame obviously and clearly and Killjoy is still the towniest townie so far.
At least 2/3 of the scum have already had their mission leader chances, though.
I think Vaimes/KJ/me/Vezok are the best choices for the next round. I still have no read on Grapefruit. =_=
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Reminder: Game actions and host availability will be significantly limited for the next 7 days.
I will try to ensure phases change no later than Midnight Eastern Time the same day actions are taken but cannot make any promises to that effect.
During this time deadlines will still function as normal; if the deadline is Midnight and I don't get to the thread until 1 AM, game actions submitted or changed during the intervening time will not be counted.

I think he fits better + I can't really see town motivation in his posts.
He hasn't even acknowledged my scumread on him, or how if affects his read on me. Or rather, he noted that I called him a wet noodle, and that's it.
Do you think scum!Wuffles whiteknights the hell out of town!vezok? In what, the hopes that vezok backs him up? That's assuming vezok will have a ton of sway, which Wuffles couldn't possibly know.
I agree with you on not putting grape in the team, Vaimes.
It has to be me, Vaimes, you, Vezok I think.
I don't think I can vote yes to a group with grape in it, currently. Town! Grape was a lot more inquisitive in Arkham but tbh he just doesn't seem to care much here.

And I bussed the crap out of Mikey from the word go because no flips?
And me making one post in roughly 72 hours and not explaining how your read on me is a total scum indicator.
Vamies/Mikey/Osie scum team. I pretty sure Wuffles/Vez/KJ next two missions wins the game.
Anyway Mikey has been obvious scum forever. Osie turbo proposed a mission that failed. Fails on your proposals aren't scummy but the rushing of the mission was. As was Osies inability to explain his scum team except in reference to the others. And Vaimes fits well with mikey and has a sleazy push against me.
Also, vaimes, you definitely shouldn't have said that in the thread. It looks like you're a spy trying to communicate to your team.
This does not read like town talking to unknown or scum talking to town. There is no suspicion in it. Just an assumption of town doing something they shouldn't.
>”I bussed Mikey so early that we can’t be buddies!”
>”Vaimes is scum with Mikey despite being the first one to scumread him!”
>”Mikey has been obvious scum forever!”
>”I bussed Mikey so early that we can’t be buddies!”

Fair on all accounts but it doesn't address the key point of mikey talking to you like a scum buddy.

Osie: I want the next words out of your mouth to be telling my why I'm suddenly scum.
Vaimes: I never actually answered you about Wuffles: I think that in a game like this, white knighting (or any show of certainty) makes no sense from a town perspective. I know it happens but I'm saying like... from a cerebral perspective. In a vaccuum it makes no sense, and he's been really quiet for the most part, but that could just be because he's new? But again Mikey being very likely scum and putting him on the mission proposal makes him <rand scum so I can overlook my lingering hunch I think.
So I've been brainstorming. I have two options: one is dumb and I won't be doing it.
The dumb thing involves sending all the scum on this mission and seeing if we can bait three fails, so we know who the townblock is, confirmed completely. There's no chat so this would theoretically work... but it's ENTIRELY luck based and if they get lucky and only one or even two people actually fail it we're nowhere. It's all or nothing. And for that reason, it's too risky.
The smart thing is exactly to try and guess the townblock from Vezok/Wuffles/Me/Vaimes/Grape and hope we don't hit a scum.
Me and Vezok are for sure going. Wuffles actually has to go because he hasn't gone on a mission yet and if he's town then we need him there.
That leaves Grape and Vaimes.
Grape: Why is Vaimes scum? Independent of Mikey, I mean.
Vaimes: So imagine the team is Vez/me/wuffles/you. Now imagine that fails. Based on how this team formed, who is the scum on it?
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. Osie: I want the next words out of your mouth to be telling my why I'm suddenly scum.
I don't owe you *****.
But okay.
Town!Killjoy aggressively pushes forward thoughts of who he thinks is scum and provides detailed reasons. Scum!Killjoy is lazier, putting forward less force or putting it forward with more tunnel vision. But this game can't do tunneling. So instead it becomes about agendas for scum, and world building for town.
You don't have subtlety this game. You don't have the innocent zealotry and je ne sais quoi that you have both out of game and as town. I was there, reading your chat with Eco. I've seen you talk about your uncertainty in games regularly. You're usually nervous that you're wrong, and a series of incorrect town games seemed to leave you shaken. And I maintain that you're a good player. Because when you hook onto something, you take time to let go. And that nervous uncertainty often balances out your drive to tunnel when you are tunneled on town and gets you back on track. Which works well. And I think if you embrace that style and make it your own even more so, you could go from a good player to a great player, at least in terms of your town game.
But you don't have that nervous uncertainty here. If any nervousness is there, it's in not managing to put through an agenda while maintaining cover. And that looks bad. And that's the conclusion I came to after mulling over things for half an hour in the shower and an hour and a half of perusing ISOs afterwards. That there was no way in hell that you were town. And the more I look at it, the more it looks like you were the fail vote on that mission rather than Vezok. And the more it looks like Vezok is town.
If I was scum, the scum benefits from defending me. As town, nobody leaps to my defense after making a mistake with the mission team and being overly aggressive with my push afterwards. It's straightforward. The town members see that as a scummy action, and the scum members are more than happy to push the idea of me as scum. It rules out Mission 5 being passable if any one town is discredited. And if Killjoy is on Mission 3, Mission 3 doesn't pass, and we've lost.
In the Vaimes-Killjoy-Wuffles world, the one I'm least certain on is Wuffles. But I'm confident that Vaimes and Killjoy are both scum individually, and Grape is most likely town. Mikey actually seems individually town (for similar reasons as I just pointed out for myself). Vezok is unlikely to post the argument that he did, and between Vezok and Wuffles, Wuffles is 99.9999999% more likely to be pushing an agenda than to be misled based on his certainty.
I considered Vezok + Wuffles as both scum, but Vezok legit looks too innocent.
You don't think I'm paranoid as hell right now? Up till now, I was being universally townread. Like I said before, it's like someone (apparently multiple people) know I'm town.
Those games that left me shaken, they also taught me something: giving in to those instincts is what lost me the game. I tunneled on Tom in Token Power. I overlooked Wuffles because he was scumreading (and therefore validating) my read on tom.
I'm still going for a broad strokes type of view this game, and trying not to tunnel like crazy. I keep reevaluating my scumreads in an effort to not fall into that pit again.
But you say that scum would be defending you if you were also scum... in that case, do you think Mikey is town? I don't recall seeing any defense of him pretty much ever.
Actually, people seem content with him being scum. That is kinda weird. When I get back from what I'm doing later I'll reread him again.
For now... Mikey: what's your view on this game? Why are you content to not be on teams?
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. you're right about that being dumb. The same person would just fail the mission everytime, surely, and we'd be wasting lives for nothing. >:(
@Osie - Explain then how Mikey knew clearly that the last mission was going to fail. There was no doubt in his posts. None. No way does a townie have that kind of certainty on success/fail before any missions had even failed.
@Grapefruit why have you been so checked out lately my dude? Everything okay in Grapeworld IRL? You were an extremely vigorous poster in Arkham but your activity has just drooped like a teenager just caught having sex by his parents.
@Osie - Explain then how Mikey knew clearly that the last mission was going to fail. There was no doubt in his posts. None. No way does a townie have that kind of certainty on success/fail before any missions had even failed.

Your statement is full of wine.
Scum is more likely to have certainty. But they know that and therefore would consciously go out of their way to not post that way. But it could just be a scum slip. But it could just be bad tone from town. But it could just be a scum slip. But it could just be bad tone from town. But it...
Your argument is that Mikey posts with certainty, AND calls out Vaimes for slipping, AND doesn't just barn the logical point that I just made about the vast majority of players scumreading him without reconsideration? You must really think nothing of Mikey as a player if you think he's that obvious scum. Or you're just pushing an agenda.
Wuffles. vezok has been basically spewed clear by virtue of being everyone’s top town, and if you’re scum then we already lose; on top of that sentiment, I don’t really see scum!you putting in as much work/effort to fake solve here for no real reason.
I’ve been burned on that read exactly once by Seppel, and you don’t strike me as much of a Seppel.
The spies are Mikey (who’s long since given up after jumping the gun, fearmongered a bit, and vanished), Grape (really bad OMGUS, basically agreed with me in broad daylight that his points were bad), and osie (the only one doing damage control and sowing wine/doubt).
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. That isn’t really a point.
Scum can make other people look like scum.
That’s how social deduction games pan out.
Well yes they try to make people look like scum. That's the point. He didn't try to make you look like scum at all. He wasn't surprised or intrigued by it he was just like "you shouldn't do that it makes you sound like scum, but here's no accusation at all"
At this point he hadn't been locked in as a scum read so fake budding with the assumption he'd be scum read and tie you to him doesn't make a ton of sense.
@Wuffles Just busy and overcommited in real life. Nothing negative just don't have time.
@KJ It's largely just that assoction. I haven't had time to reread over the weekend and don't have any more at the moment.
Also, realistically, what are you expecting me to say here?
“why yes Grape, Mikey is my buddy. we almost had you fooled!”
I mean flip that around. Your scum read is partially based on my reply to you. And your perception that it's lackluster. Like I'm not sure how else you'd expect me to react to such a weak push here. Or why you're so focused on me when there was a failed mission to delve into.

So now Osie and wuffles are spies?
It's osie/vaimes/wuffles, probably
Fail, Pass, Pass
It is now Discussion phase 3.1.
Killjoy is the mission leader and has until 11:00 PM Eastern Time on July 10th to propose a mission team.

@Vaimes: I'm not sure I agree on Grape. Why is he scum again?
My current thought is KJ/Vezok/Vaimes/Grape, Might swap Wuffles for Vaimes. Not sure yet.
I'm not sure we can afford to test people right now, but if we don't we might end up with not enough info going into Mission 5.
He hasn't even acknowledged my scumread on him, or how if affects his read on me. Or rather, he noted that I called him a wet noodle, and that's it.

What has Vaimes done that's been spectacular? And has my absence seemed opportunistic in anyway?
This does not read like town talking to unknown or scum talking to town. There is no suspicion in it. Just an assumption of town doing something they shouldn't.

I don’t think he cares about town winning this game. vOv Especially now, with two spies basically outed.
He was limp noodling, lurked some more, and came back with bad points and an OMGUS read.
Is this mass lurking because forum Resistance isn’t as fun? Demotivated spies? Lazy town? There’s nothing else to say?
Scum can make other people look like scum.
That’s how social deduction games pan out.
“why yes Grape, Mikey is my buddy. we almost had you fooled!”
I think the game is solved, but there’s nothing I can really do until there’s more participation, so.
Ball’s in everyone else’s court.
I’m V/LA for the next two days.
Demotivated town, maybe?
