Vezok's suspicion of me is weak enough that I'm not even sure I should answer it. I think it's important to note that I know mechanical discussion is wifom and I said as much in the post ("Ultimately I'm wasting a lot of words talking about mechanics") and I'd really rather not get town read for something I could easily have done as a wolf.
I think I said this in OTG, but I don't "try to get town read," even though good townies should be trying to act towny. All my effort goes into solving the game and town reading others and not really worrying about how I present myself. Yes, I'm playing differently this game. I'm trying out a different playstyle and being a bit more cautious (for reasons unrelated to mafia on this forum). That being said, I'm still suss enough of killjoy that, in the event he flips town, I have to re-evaluate basically the entire thread. There's still no way that argument was t/t and it's unlikely it was s/s because reasons and unless the re-eval turns up something fruitful I'm absolutely going after vaimes next day. That's not going to happen though.
Most likely explanation is that my killjoy/dbs/vezok poe is close enough to the truth that vezok is trying to start a wagon on me lol.
dan, I think this post answered your question for me well enough? If there's something you're unsatisfied with let my secretary know.
Hey Ruma, looks like you're getting tilted. Stap back, pet a puppy (because they're better) and calm down. Come back when you're not just gonna snap at people trying to play the game.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

I'm also not snapping at people. I haven't insulted anyone, I haven't cussed (which I generally do every sentence anyway), and I haven't done anything to indicate anger or tilt. I'm not sure where the 'you're tilting' is even coming from.

@Sentenza: As much as that would amuse me, it's not the case.
I've never had an issue posting scummy posts as town. This is quite commonly known. I also have been busy so haven't had the amount of time I usually have to do my usual stirring up. This is the first time I've had some personal free time in a while. I'm also horrible with readlists, so forgive me for the bad formatting and *****ty thought processes.

10. Vaimes - Look, there is every chance Vaimes is town. However, I myself think he is scum. I dislike how he takes every chance to accuse any action I take as scummy, as though there is no way anything I do comes from a town point. I also am annoyed that he thinks I'm lying that I haven't been lurking, I just haven't had time to write up detailed thoughts. I've been busy. I'm not busy anymore. There's nothing counter to my belief that chaos is good for town. There are plenty of actions which can generate chaos which aren't specifically taken by me. But it doesn't matter, as if/when I am lynched, the FOS will no longer be on me, and you guys will have to infer information from my flip. Treat this read closer to a 'I don't like this mindset' rather than a 'he is 100% without a doubt, scum'.
12. Emcee - Cause of vezok's change of target.
13. Killjoy[/orange] - I really want to read him as town, I do. But with everyone else scum reading me, and killjoy being the only one to consider me as a possible town candidate, it does seem a little pockety. But, paranoia.

@Grapefruit
I don't see how my catch on Rodemy's post was bad, unexplained maybe.
here's the breakdown (for those who don't know how to read):
1. speculating about the setup isn't the kind of attention masons or scum would like to have. we only have 3 types of roles in the game: masons/scum/vanilla. if you aren't mason or scum, you're vanilla (and locktown).
2. I was curious about how to play the setup, since masons/scum are similar. Rodemy's post was enlightening, in a way: I should try to find the VTs~
overall, it was townish, moreso since it was an early post. good catch not really in terms of interpretation, but the mindset. Vaimes calling it 'obvious', or shallow, just shows he's not paying attention - likely scum.
on the side:
- would masons in this setup be 100% town? been wondering about that.
- if this setup consists of masons/maf/vanilla, it would be better to vanilla-hunt and PoE from there. mason cover is a bad idea.
Your point about the catch is bad because if you're not scum you're 100% revealing you aren't a mason and narrowing the PoE they have to shoot into. By thinking that catch was novel it shows you haven't been thinking about the implications of being a mason and your further questions asking if Masons have to be town compounds the issue. If you were a mason or had considered these things before hand they would have been obvious. They are the sort of things that come to mind after thinking about what having masons in a setup means after 5 minutes and is in fact really cool and novel, but also not searingly insightful or worth commending someone for observing. The bonus is you are lock town but the downside is you've made it so much easier for the scum to find the masons for NK's. Please please stop doing that. I want my buddies to live. Also mason cover isn't a problem because short of people doing mason cover being paints on fire unaware they will drop their claim the second a real mason claims (like me!). Note how every mason cover post is using a similar sort of light hearted tone.
KJ is my buddy. DBS is town and we'll all be better off if she spends the rest of the game pretending this is an all vanilla game. Mikey's town, but he can continue covering for me and KJ. His sacrifice is appreciated. Sentenza is town. Vaimes is still town despite the incident. Rod can softly be town.
Dan is approaching that category.
Iso and Dota technically exist.
Vezok/Ruma/Tubba for scum feels right but I think I want it to be right more than it is right.
For the record I think chaos is awful for towns and hate intentional chaos as a philosophy. I have nothing to back this up and am aware it's coloring my play.
Vote: Vezok
Now that Ruma's playing he'll sort himself out. Probably. His reads list is consensusy but that's alright.
@Ruma can you rank your colors for me? Is blue neutral to you? What about orange? Also Mikey is hard town reading you fwiw.
Also leaving me out of your catchup makes me feel unloved.
A difference in philosophy is totally fine. Experience tends to lead people to different conclusions.
Blue and orange are basically the same: unsure/neutral/howthefcanigenerateareadofthispost
Red is scummy
Green is towny.
Didn't notice you weren't in it tbh. Have a pet bunny as an apology.
I'll accept the bunny but would prefer your read on me. Is there a different tier to blue and orange or is completely interchangeable?
Blue is always used for lack of content, but never for neutral reads. Orange is used for reads which are uncertain, but can be used for lack of content.

Don't know what happened to that post. I was quoting grape's post.
Pretty sure the spoiler tags broke and broke the rest of your post. Anyway bussing is a thing, but I don't think I've really solved the game. Just that you 3 are easily the 3 scummiest here. Which is a worry given my bias against Ruma's playstyle and the fact that I always think you're sucm. Anyway deflection denied. Your mikey progression from 435 to 438 is a thing. You say you're scum reading him for not doing reasons X and Y in the first and then you quote posts and say he's scum for doing those same things.
Seriously guys at least look at the rumanshi vaimes 1v1 compared to killjoy vaimes. Much different and the second one is more typical of what t/t looks like.
That further solidifies my suspicion of killjoy, I'll put it at 'highly unlikely to be wrong for now.

But what happens when my Mason buddy KJ flips town? There where have your 1v1 breakdowns gotten you?
9. Sentenza - There were scum vibes out the roof, but I don't feel them anymore and Sentena has made some really valid points.
That's not a read lol
You may as well have pulled those links out of a hat. Saying "these post are from a town mindset" is nothing. It's air. For all I know, you could have literally asked a Magic 8 Ball. That's about as much thought process as you're giving me here.
Take the read on me, for example: what "scum vibes"? What posts made you think that, and why? What valid points did I make, and why do you think making valid points is indicative of a villager?
Just to wrap my head around this one, you're saying that you think vezokpiraka is a wolf... because he switched his vote from you, with a "fairly good" case, to Emcee_Mikey, with a "less powerful" case.
12. Emcee - Cause of vezok's change of target.
And you're townreading Emcee because of that, so you're representing a position where you strongly believe that they're an unaligned pair.
So just walk me through this here. You, a villager, are saying that you suspect someone of being a wolf, because in the world you're proposing, a wolf had a pretty good case on a villager, and then moved his vote to another villager, citing a much weaker case.
Can I have some of what you're smoking?
As youve come from places with obviously higher levels of intelligence, this little one could never fathom to match up to your massive IQ! He can only hope to play in the method he knows how, as he comes from the filthy streets -_-. Yes, they are reads. It doesnt matter if they are bad reads, they are still reads. Dont spout *****, even if you are superior in your ability to pronounce your thoughts.

If a game isn't advertised to be bastard, then it isn't bastard. What you see in the OP is what you get.
Generally, you will almost never see mixed Masons here (when a Mason is mafia). If two or more people share a chat without knowing each other's alignments, that is a Neighborhood.
mixed masons might not be considered bastard if the mod says so? in that setup where masons were t/s, it was considered normal (according to the host), the bastard element was making them the godfather as well. but ok, I'd assume it isn't possible here. (still waiting for the host to lolreply me)
The basic, universal strategy for this setup is that Masons will act like VTs, VTs will act like Masons, and scum will act like VTs but might fakeclaim Mason to bait a counterclaim.
that was what happened in that game I talked about though.. the jailer covered commuter, and vice versa, but it led to inconsistencies from them and wrong solutions from the others - town shot itself in the foot (baiting itself in a way lol). if you think like that though, back to the drawing board.
you have a broken quote
that there would be t/t or t/s teams. that was also considering that masons go in duos from my experience, even in setups bigger than this.
KJ is my buddy. DBS is town and we'll all be better off if she spends the rest of the game pretending this is an all vanilla game. Mikey's town, but he can continue covering for me and KJ. @DBS the whole point of that is I need you to ignore them. You are lock town. You're an IC now but you need to as much as possible not interact with people talking about anything to do with masons. Or point out anything you think might be masons. Just look at the game as 10 vanilla towns and 3 mafia. Please just stop speculating publicly about masons.
@Rod how is his list poor? Does his interaction feeling genuine make him town to you? I agree it felt genuine but it was over almost nothing. So I'm not convinced it says anything about his alignment.

This just feels so weird to me if Vezo is town. He jumps on this post pretty quickly while ignoring my repeated questions about his about face on why Mikey is scum. His main reason for why I shouldn't push him is because Mikey defended my other two scum reads, which is not how scum hunting really works.
Like there is nothing actually point to any reasoning or motives it's just push x instead because they pushed y. And when I try to engage on why I think Xs defense of y is okay I get nothing. I don't even agree with Mikey or his (rather opaque) reasoning.
Talk to me about the whys. Why did your reasoning on Mikey exactly pivot from your reads wall to your in depth look?

Thank you for choosing
Rodemy Pizza
It’s not the best choice, but it’s a choice nonetheless
So, I had a big catch-up post written, and I thought about it and decided, "No, I need to play this game close to the chest. ( dan)" I'm frighteningly good at picking up on PRs, whether as scum or town, and given my utter lack of subtlety when playing Mafia, I think this will be a good restriction to impose upon myself. Prime example of this happening: See the last Invitational game I played in on here where I caught all 3 scum by post 100 and pegged the two Masons in our game very early on, as well.
With that in mind, I'm gonna give you guys two things:
Sentenza: I adore your vernacular, because you write your posts in the way that I think. That said, while multiposting is allowed in Mafia, here, please refrain from aggressive multiposting. This includes posts that could easily be one single post - we do have a multiquote button!
Anyway, taking my mod hat off, I would have told Sentenza that in our Mason chat, but I had to post it publicly so that there was a visible record of it.
The other thing that I'm giving you guys is:
Vote Rumanshi
Either the dude is 12 years old or scum, and since he's been playing for 4 years, I'm disinclined to believe the former is correct. I can write up a case if you guys reaaaally want me to, but that won't be until tomorrow, since I just spent the rest of my free time at work catching up. Besides, it practically writes itself if you read his posts.
I have thoughts on other players but I don't want to give away my other Mason buddy. I'll expand once we've lynched Rumanshi if I'm still alive to do so, and if I'm not, well, the scum still have to figure out my other buddy.
If you guys have specific questions for me about certain people and things they have done, I'll be glad to answer them, but I'm only going to give you my answers in a vacuum because again, I absolutely should not give more information than I need to about my reads.

ugh god I'm on page 3 and I'm already scumreading half of you
This is going to be one of those games, isn't it?
For us it's always one of those games.
@Vezok I want you to give me your full progression on mikey again. Your previous one is scummy and I want to see you dance trying to flesh out your read.
@Rod I think with how much he hedged about being busy he literally just didn't have time/effort to do more. Like it could be a lie but it would be a gross one with the amount of OoG reasoning he was laying.
Anyway I think a quick low effort reads wall that's largely consensus'y is slightly more likely to come from scum. I need to dig into a few more of his links as well because something about them was pinging me but I don't remember what.
But yeah mostly just need more. And wanted you to say more than just "bad".
And take your time on that blow off. I don't need an answer now, just want to see if it was a petty blow up or if there was anything more to it.
@Iso I'm kind of torn. My gut agrees with you and my head doesn't but also thinks ot might be overthinking it. I think Ruma is a good bet for scum but I think Vezo is close to as good of one and with him I'm not worried about a cukture clash read throwing me off.

Please please please be intentional trolling here.
I'm on board with you on Ruma/Tubba, but I have no idea how you have me as your third scumread. Mikey has defended ruma and tubba all game while I've been actively pushing for ruma.
Please re-evaluate and move your vote from me to somewhere more productive.

You did quote his post though.
As youve come from places with obviously higher levels of intelligence, this little one could never fathom to match up to your massive IQ! He can only hope to play in the method he knows how, as he comes from the filthy streets -_-. Yes, they are reads. It doesnt matter if they are bad reads, they are still reads. Dont spout *****, even if you are superior in your ability to pronounce your thoughts.
as mentioned before, uni. Cant do full on ISO and comparison, but my read on you was town last time I checked. Basically, I can reply to posts, but no major analysis until i go home.
Can you expand on the bolded? Where did you check to confirm your read? How did you arrive at that read? Anything special that made you think Grape is town?

that was what happened in that game I talked about though.. the jailer covered commuter, and vice versa, but it led to inconsistencies from them and wrong solutions from the others - town shot itself in the foot (baiting itself in a way lol). if you think like that though, back to the drawing board.
you have a broken quotethat there would be t/t or t/s teams. that was also considering that masons go in duos from my experience, even in setups bigger than this.
ehh.. don't expect me to go easy on mason covers then.
end of post: I'll be rereading the thread.
(don't consider this as me being more active from now on, I just have more time since I can't access elsewhere.)
Be grateful, always."
3 mafia. 7 vt
Where do you get more mafia from masons? 3 + 3+ 7 is... 13.
How many people do we have in the game? 13.
Rumas list is poor.. but the general interaction with vaimes feels genuine.
Ill have to iso tubba and mikey tonight.
Also, vezok... if he is scum thats 3 gsmes in a row. Food for thought

This is going to be one of those games, isn't it?

Ive put out better bull***** reads lists as scum. Just thinking scum would put a little more effort.
That being ssid, he didnt quote where he saw scumvibes from sentz, just that they were there. i wanna see what made him think these things.
wherr did you scumread sentz?
where do you feel kj was pockety
where is your tubba read?
WHERE IS THE BATMAN?!
Speaking of. hi iso.
gotta get back to work, be back in an hour or so
With that in mind, I'm gonna give you guys two things:
