@Vezok: Why is Dan a better lynch than people who have done things?
@Vaimes: You worded that thing you quoted in a way that shaded me for not declaring a plan for future questioning while not taking ownership of doing it.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

Uh, no, it was pretty obvious, given it was a direct response to a memepost.
So? That doesn't mean anything. IDK how the town/scum spread of posting memes goes, but maybe there was towniness in Grape's meme. IDK. It wasn't obvious.

That's my point. It wasn't an accusation, and it passively shades me for not doing those things.
"Oh, I thought you might do these things" implies "Oh, it's kinda weird that you didn't do these things".

This is important, because your case (or vote) relies heavily on flawed understanding. There's no disconnect because one post was a joke and the other one was part of a read.
Now that you know the context (if you didn't get it the first time), do you stand by your original assertion?

Oh if you wanna try and dig into grapes meme, he implies dota is so obviously not scum that me doing so would be like calling a butterfly a bird.
Which is kinda scummy concidering that standpoint would mean he knows exactly what dotas alignment is.
But that is a very dumb rodemy idea that should not be indulged.
As for dota, still think he's scum. That reaction was too textbook to just wave off as meta.

Thank you for choosing
Rodemy Pizza
It’s not the best choice, but it’s a choice nonetheless
@Vaimes: I don't see how it could be intended in the manner which you meant it. Saying *shrug*, *shrugs*, or anything similar generally implies the negative meaning, rather than the neutral conversational tone. Imagine saying it verbally, then shrugging physically. This action generally implies shading. However, I'm not sure this can be used as a reason to scum read you, but it is something to keep in mind.
I'm not sure what it is about Sentenza, but I've actually been getting scum vibes from them, rather than town vibes that other people have been saying. I cant exactly say what it is, but I'll probably be able to fix this when I see more.

I am also called Riku. I tend to prefer being called riku.
@Vaimes: I understand what you're trying to say here. Here's the issue, though. That "joke" has an alternative, game-relevant meaning. I read it as a kind of derp-clear of Grape (as you can tell) instead of a joke. I actually don't understand the origin of the joke, TBH. Is there some kind of 'stigma' (I feel like this is the wrong word but its the one that came to mind) of people posting memes to appear town? Is it a weird inside joke?
Another issue is that I feel like you're not being very aware of other possible interpretations of your play. Like, you're saying "Oh, I meant this" while apparently expecting me to accept that context as immediately true. I do not.
@Rodemy: I'm not delving into memes. I'm sure you could get 1000 words from that picture but I'm not gonna analyze it too deeply unless it becomes relevant somehow.

@Rodemy you're correct that I was saying Dota wasn't scummy, but I was also implying you weren't either. Felt you both were reasonably not!scummy for that interaction. Which is why I couldn't resist meme'ing, you were both being your normal townie selves.

I...see no fathomable way a joke like that could be a derp clear of any sort. I'm inclined to consider memes or jokeposts NAI.
Well, if you don't believe it, that's not really something I can control. You evaluate my response and life goes on.

In general, I don't see any variation of shrugging as having any negative connotations. Personally I use it as a filler word a lot, like "hmm."

@KJ: Simply put I don't find any of the people who posted by now scummy. I'm getting a bit of a bad vibe from Vaimes, but nothing to warrant a vote. Rumanashi is also not being his usual townie self, but I think it's too early to tell.
Ganderin on the other hand came in to post nothing and then vanished. I'm a lot more convinced he is scum.

So people actively doing scummy things are less scummy than someone who isn't posting perhaps for IRL reasons?

Yes? Who would seriously give anyone a pass because they they made a silly picture at the start of a game?? That’s like giving someone a pass for a cleverly worded RVS vote or something.
If you want to townread or scumread jokes, go ahead?
Do you think any of the people pushing on you are mafia?
I think Killjoy could be mafia. Might have a better idea several days from now, after he's talked to non-me people.
To my knowledge Rod has never townread me, plus he seems more free-flowy rather than looking to push anything, so he's a light town.
vezok seems town to me only because last time he was scum he tried to mislynch me, and he came off as super unreasonable and pushy. Didn't work. Small chance he could be wary of pushing on me again.
KJ is leaning to hard on his mason buddy (me) to clear him and is trying his hardest to be wolfly right now. Only plausible explanation for thinking the D1 pass was anything but a joke and reacting seriously to my joke mason claim (that happens to be true).
I also would want to lynch KJ if he wasn't my mason buddy because he's really scumming it up out here. Instead I'll just keep pressuring him without strong follow up to distance us
I dont know how to feel about this post
I think he's doing exactly what kj said, getting bad masons to claim.
That's not very townie.
This post on the other hand feels opportunistic to me.
Can you explain why, even if it's just a gut impression? I realize Rumanshi's post was very short, but what struck you as off about it?
Ruma is doing the same thing you just broke down KJ doing (who is totally my mason buddy so you should vote Rodemy with me, who also did a similar thing). Making a very surface level take while ignoring the content and what would be behind it. People of both alignments make jokes. That doesn't mean jokes are automatically NAI. Especially jokes that are also reads. It's also a case of why even bother making that post as town. It just doesn't accomplish anything.
Also Sentenza MTGS has a reputation of being a very experience community with really analytical games but we lost a lot of numbers in recent years and the reputation has stuck more than the reality. This game also has over 1/3 players with 5 or less games experience here by my quick guesstimate.
It's funny, I specifically chose this site for my first game because I have very little time in my day to play, and I wanted longer deadlines because I was worried about falling behind. Now that I'm actually in a game, though, I feel some combination of frustrated, anticipatory, and antsy for anything to happen.
Would definitely appreciate a general increase in volume/pace. Some people still haven't posted and the game has been on for almost 72 hours - is that normal?
My current take on the game is that one of Killjoy and Rodemy is mafia, but not both. I have tentative, very ephemeral feeling townreads on Grapefruit21 and Vaimes. The former for having thoughts I've agreed with, and the latter for a certain nonchalance about being voted/pushed, although the lack of any drive to really do anything with the admittedly scant information we have makes it a weaker read than Grapefruit21.
Would not be at all surprised if there was at least a wolf between Rumanshi and ganderin_dan, but that's a pretty obvious take which, while potentially accurate, isn't worth discussion at this point.
This game is very below average activity-wise and the number of people who haven't checked in at all yet is worrying (I don't believe any of Dota, DBS, Tubba, Mikey, or Huntzilla have posted yet) and that is very frustrating for a first game with all the anticipation and excitement that goes with that. Right now the pace is probably about average for a mini or micro but very low for a normal. Which I guess coincides with over a third of the game not having made a post yet. Which for the record isn't normal.
I agree on KJ and Rodemy being exceedingly unlikely to be scumbuddies here. I'd have Rodemy at about 10% more likely than random to be scum at the moment, but I don't want to rush because so many people just aren't playing the game.
Since we're opposed on which of KJ and Rod is more likely to be scum (and I can't be wrong because masons and all that jazz) why do you think it's KJ?
Since we're opposed on which of KJ and Rod is more likely to be scum (and I can't be wrong because masons and all that jazz) why do you think it's KJ?
Gut, I think? Killjoy feels more careful / concerned with appearances, and Rodemy feels more brazen / unaware of appearances. In a vaccum, I'm betting on the first archetype to lynch more wolves in the long run.
Plus, if I'm correct about there only being one possible between them, then there's definitely at least one villager, and I find it easier to imagine Rodemy's potentially just a villager several standard deviations away from the mean in terms of solid mafia foundational thinking than I do imagining that Killjoy warning the Masons not to claim was a real thought a villager typed and put into the thread.
Hmmm my thought process (beyond KJ being my buddy) is that there is no world where a wolf tries to A: gain town points for that warning because it was so clearly not needed and he actually appears thoughtful about it. B: also tries to push me over it. I think a wolf would content themselves with angling for one or the other because it's incredibly greedy to try and do both over something so obvious.
On assuming that wolves are lazy I think that is dagerous. I usually assume they are better than I am unless I have reason not to. And in this case I just think that wolf KJ makes it more about the attack and less about the generic wisdom and getting credit for it.
But we're splitting hairs and don't want to overly spam the thread with this when so many people haven't posted yet.
If we're in fact taking Rodemy's statement at face value, as you appear to be doing here, what exactly was a "catch" about his observation?
he's looking for the differences in masons and scum. I'm new to that (past games had masons as "surprise!" roles). it was a good catch, and something I'm having a townread on.
I'm not at all familiar with the players in this game. The only player who was in a game I read is Huntzilla, and they didn't leave enough of an impression on me to give me a sense of their style. (No offense).
I see. mind telling us your overall experience? also, what would you consider your playstyle?
I'm not sure what it is about Sentenza, but I've actually been getting scum vibes from them, rather than town vibes that other people have been saying. I cant exactly say what it is, but I'll probably be able to fix this when I see more.
I get the feeling he's standing to the side a lot, but it could just be a playstyle.
I also would want to lynch KJ if he wasn't my mason buddy because he's really scumming it up out here. Instead I'll just keep pressuring him without strong follow up to distance us.
hmmm... is this a joke post? looks pointless and redundant. ok I looked at later posts and it looks, like derp-gamesolving.
I think it's going well in terms of activity. don't wanna make this another drag to deal with.
end of post:
I find Vaimes suspicious (then again I'm already voting him). there could be scum among those who haven't appeared yet.

@Rodemy: Why do you think it's not a good idea to go after people who haven't posted a lot on day 1? Also do you think it's a bad idea for the entire day 1
@Rodemy: Why do you think it's not a good idea to go after people who haven't posted a lot on day 1? Also do you think it's a bad idea for the entire day 1 or just specific parts?
Because the game just started.

I think he's doing exactly what kj said, getting bad masons to claim.
That's not very townie.
This post on the other hand feels opportunistic to me.
Vote: Rodemy
Trying to find motive behind your fake mason claim isnt opportunistic though.
Kj presented a good motive. I agreed. I would ask why you faked it, but 99% sure i'm not getting a serious answer.

Thank you for choosing
Rodemy Pizza
It’s not the best choice, but it’s a choice nonetheless

@Vaimes: You worded that thing you quoted in a way that shaded me for not declaring a plan for future questioning while not taking ownership of doing it.
Given the context of the post, the first one is clearly a joke.
And you never specify that in the time around it.
It wasn't obvious so don't pretend like I was supposed to know that.
I'd vote you but that already happened and so far it's still happening.
The verbiage of it is passive and shades me for not doing these things while at the same time not outright accusing me for it. It's like you attribute a supposed scummy thing to me while having no opinion on it.
^^^^^^
This is what you're doing. See how you look bad while I am not actively attacking you for it?
And here's where I attack you for it. I find this very scmmy.
"Oh, I thought you might do these things" implies "Oh, it's kinda weird that you didn't do these things".
Still not around. :/
Well, if you don't believe it, that's not really something I can control. You evaluate my response and life goes on.
He came back and said he will post later, but didn't. I think it's because he is scum and doesn't like his role.

You see no fathomable way that jokingly saying that Grape should get a day 1 pass could be taken as... seriously saying that Grape gets a day 1 pass? Seriously?
Also noticing that you included 'jokes' in there so as to include yourself in this. So it's not just Grape's meme that's NAI, it's jokes. You know, like the one Vaimes told.
I want to lynch this post.

See, this is a joke.Although it's a bad one that might make bad masons counter claim him. Do not do that.

Doing scummy things day 1 is relative. I simply don't know what to think of Vaimes and people who talk are easier to sort later.
@Rumanashi: Thoughts on the current state of the game?

Leave dan alone for now and actually weigh in on who is posting.
Can you show me a post that puts ruma in a town slot for you?
But you are going after the two people with the fewest posts and vaimes.
There are people who haven't even posted yet. I feel like going after the people who have, but not a lot is not a good idea d1

If you want to townread or scumread jokes, go ahead?
To my knowledge Rod has never townread me, plus he seems more free-flowy rather than looking to push anything, so he's a light town.
vezok seems town to me only because last time he was scum he tried to mislynch me, and he came off as super unreasonable and pushy. Didn't work. Small chance he could be wary of pushing on me again.
This post on the other hand feels opportunistic to me.
Vote: Rodemy
And about Ruma yeah can't read too much into someone not reading into things early. But posts like that make me want to.
But we're splitting hairs and don't want to overly spam the thread with this when so many people haven't posted yet.
Can you ask them questions to further expand on that? I'm just seeing normal play from both of them. Also the fact that KJ is mason with grape/s

anyone who gives town points tend to be scum from my experience.
he's looking for the differences in masons and scum. I'm new to that (past games had masons as "surprise!" roles). it was a good catch, and something I'm having a townread on.
I see. mind telling us your overall experience? also, what would you consider your playstyle?
I get the feeling he's standing to the side a lot, but it could just be a playstyle.
