KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
@Prophylaxis
(nice #144. lookit what the weebs can do. lol)
Do you think Shinichi and Last are both town with the way they RVS'd each other? Can you go into a little more depth on this, in particular the Last townread? I have him down as making housekeeping comments/fluff but I don't think there's nothing really alignment indicative to his posts right now.
both sides clashed naturally, and gave out their thoughts in a way I say...wasn't forced. Last is something like a nervous wreck as scum, and it's more pronounced when pressured, but in that debate he handled himself in a relaxed manner, hence the townlean. it's like, the fluff is what makes him a townread, since he's prone to go over and beyond as nervous scum.
If you think that shadow is not looking townie, then why not vote him? Is your read on Vaimes stronger?
I haven't played with Vaimes before. Shadow is also someone I'm sure will respond to suspicions without pressure voting.
given how ZE town ignored the lurkers for the first couple of game days and they ended up being scum I want to hold their feet to the fire early and often
MAL lurkers tend to be town though. but I'd agree that lurkers make the game boring.
@Vaimes
I asked you a question at #133. why do some players remind you of Shinichi?
@Grapefruit21
why are you so interested in the logs? I kinda understand the basis for it, and that you're a mechanical player, but I don't really see it as a concern now when town is the majority.

"I still remember the days I prayed for the things I have now.
Hey all just wanna say I haven't been posting not because I've been flaking, but actually because I've been sick AF. I slept for like 20 hours straight and I spent all of today desperately trying to catch up to assignments. But it looks like not that much has been going on tbh with the number of pages, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing right now lol.
Idk what to say thats my reasoning, take it or leave it grape XD. I have my reasons for suggesting that proposal, regardless I dont like the idea of players voting on who should be allowed to bid on items.
So which is it?
Going back to earlier points if that's your reasoning for revealing first person to bid on an item then you need to think about it more because you clearly haven't thought it through. I'm telling you that limited reveal gives us no benefit and comes at a real cost. I'll leave it and you should too, because it's a bad idea.
I'd rather not out anyone, including 77. And now that I've given them a reason they claim claim if they were scum trying to get it into the game.
And the question of why I voted DisplayName. I thought you'd asked but it wasn't you checking again.
@DBS town are the majority but we're disorganized and distrust each other. Scum are organized. If the logs give information on what items are or where they are going that is much more valuable to them than to a disorganized town. I'm very apprehensive of giving scum any insight into the information that is hidden from them. I only have been making it a concern because someone voted for it and I think that is beneficial to scum.
Also that nervous energy you're describing for last is what I'm seeing here. In his early interactions with Shin in particular.
Also a general request: I know some people have different names on MAL but can we try to refer to people by the name they've chosen here.

trusting each other is the key to winning. saying that we are meant to play distrusting each other is not a good look.
Last does react wildly to accusations (ZE is proof of that), but it's not as "ambitious" as when he is scum. he would be more ready to pounce on any little fault as scum, and I did not see that in his debate with Shin.
and yeah, I'm addressing others by their names here (I have Phraze in my forum subtext though, so it shouldn't be confusing).

I am 100% on board with this.
Slightly related thought, I also think people should be mindful not to fluff post over and over for the sake of it/to text wall over pedantic details.
as much as was thinking of pressuring lurkers etc i was thinking about sort of giving a day 1 pass for any new MALers (Gwendolly/DisplayName/yurkin) given that they are new to the site and lynching them day 1 would leave a bad taste in my mouth, since they're still getting used to the site/meta + being lynched in your first game in a new site sucks, personally speaking
100% disagree. Scum is scum, and giving people a pass for non game related reasons is a really good way to lose.
Rhand if you think Grape is town, who do you think the possible scum are on his wagon? What are your thoughts on shadow/DoTA/Terry?
If there’s scum on that wagon, it’s probably Shadow.
I have a light townread on Terry for the natural reactions on my auction idea, and on DoTA for a bit of mindmeld.
Shadow hasn’t posted enough to get a real read there. But if I’m right about all the town reads I have now, then the lurkers almost have to be scum.
Can you post a reads list? Having enough town reads to start PoE reading people this early in the game seems baffling to me.
If you think that shadow is not looking townie, then why not vote him? Is your read on Vaimes stronger?
I haven't played with Vaimes before. Shadow is also someone I'm sure will respond to suspicions without pressure voting.
What makes you think this exactly? (Yes, I realize the irony of this reply)
I’m not exactly sure why you think you really understand my play; ZE I was caught solely on mechanics, and I helped mislynch you in both Haiku and pirates Mafia day one. We don’t really have a rapport. That actually didn’t take that long.
I’m really not a fan of the hypothetical mechanical discussions going on. If you have a point about mechanics that’s relevant and necessary, speak it, and we can analyze it. If you don’t, this weird half talk about it is not adding anything to the conversation and acts as a smokescreen for the game.
The gentleman tipped his hat as he briskly entered the door.
"Evening, chaps, ladies. Sorry for my tardiness; I've, ah, come from a long way away."
He eyes his watch.
"I have an appointment to make with an old friend, but hopefully we can take care of this ordeal in due time. Chop chop!"
The man took in the surrounding people and their thoughts.
"I am not in favor of revealing our auction identities. This seems poorly thought out, and I would dare even cast scrutiny towards the one who suggested it."
Vote vezokpiraka
"I am also inclined to disbelieve those with opinions who seem a little more ah, ethereal. Especially those with which I have had prior dealings to this effect."
FoS Atogaholic
The man walks up to Shinichi.
"You seem to be in a strange place mentally. Would you care to tell me what your angle is in your approach to the happenings around us thus far?"
Clearing his throat, he addressed Grapefruit:
"I am not in favor of your proposal. I have reason to believe that information is king in these parts, and the less of it we share with unscrupulous individuals, the better. As KamikazeArchon said, there are rats in the walls...one must not tread too far into the dark, lest they ambush you."
FoS Grapefruit21
"I sense dark tidings among those with loose lips. Let us keep our hands close to our chests for as long as it behooves us to do so. Prophylaxis, who are your top suspects at this juncture? shadowlancerx, I am also interested in hearing your take on this question."
As the man named Rhand speculated on the nature of the auctioned items, the gentleman the group would come to know as "Iso" continued to analyze the on-going mystery around him unfold.
"While I sense your intentions are pure, friend, I would continue to advise against such speculation in an out loud manner. vezokpiraka, do you plan on contributing to the investigation, or are you simply going to gawk at the items on display?"
Iso continued to pace about the room, as though it would somehow help him think.
"dawningbluesky, I like your ideas thus far. Please continue on your trajectory. Grapefruit, why the disconnect between your ideas expressed towards DoT and your vote on DisplayName? Such non-sequitur seems like a grandiose display of deflecting attention. I see you inadvertently voted the wrong person, but my sentiment on the vote, itself, remains the same. I enjoy LastWhisper's take on vezok's reaction to this vote, as it was the exact sentiment that reflected my own thoughts on the matter."
Iso looks towards Prophylaxis.
"Do you believe Shinichi's incomprehensible speech is being used as a scapegoat for pressure? I do believe you are more familiar with the gentleman than I. Atogaholic, what is your familiarity with vezokpiraka like?"
Iso looks distracted, scribbles a note in his pad, and looks up triumphantly with a cunning smile on his face.

i've played with shinichi a fair number of times and he has the tendency to either be lynchbait as town, as i'm sure you're aware of, or pretty easily identifiable as scum

@Grape: My read on last kinda started in post 11. Vezok proposes a plan on how to get the game going.
Last responds to this is kind of a casual, sincere way. I feel like he continues this tone with Shin in 30. It's not like, super telling... but it's going in a good direction that I'm seeing there.
That's as of your question in 101 btw. I'm still getting that from his 109 and 112 a bit too.
@Rhand: Cool. Good answer in 102. Your willingness to give more than I asked points more to a 'has less to hide' mentality than other, more sinister ones.
As to your question... the answer seems kinda obvious, so don't take this answer as sarcastic or anything... but I'm asking you guys BECAUSE I have a hard time reading you. Talking to you will create dialague from which I may be able to discern your intentions.
Counterquestion: You're townreading Grape for specifically his position on his proposal? Or is there more to it than that?
@Last: How are you my most solid townread at the moment? I suppose you could say thats in part because you're asking this question.
@Shin: Hm. I didn't actually ask for a read on him. Reads are certainly a subfolder of the main directory "Thoughts" but it's not the only one in there.
So, lets be more specific. Look at post 15/17. My initial thought on it was his response to Vezok's proposal was a bit softball/fence sitty. Do you agree? Disagree? Why?
@Proph: Why does asking that question lead to maybe figuring out your alignment? Because talking to people (like one on one) is how I get info.
You specifically I feel I need to dialague with for reasons. I beleive I discovered in our last game together a way to maybe read you correctly? Or at least not just hard scumread for for being you. This MIGHT help there?
Note: I'm trying to resist the urge to townclear Iso for not immediately trying to lynch me.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. I'm torn on Iso right now. On one hand I feel like he is copying KA's gimmick to look townie, his thoughts are really jumbled and his statements are not something I'd expect from Iso.
On the other hand, his opinions aren't bad or scummy by themselves.
@Iso: What do you like about Phrazes line of questioning? Provide quotes if it's possible.

@Proph: Thoughts on Phraze?

"My dear Mister Vezok, are you certain you're not throwing suspicion my way due to my own suspicion of you? I do believe there's a term for that.
With regards to my speaking mannerisms, I fully intended to utilize this approach from the beginning. No, my initial entry was not as such - but when one is as pressed for time as I, these things are easily understood to not be of nefarious origin, unlike the crawling creatures of the dark we have fallen victim to countless times.
As far as Miss Dawn is concerned, I approve of her questioning of Mister Vaimes, as well as her pressure on you, and generally where her mind appears to be with regards to solving this mystery.

If you are asking if I'm going to stop with the setup spec and scumhunt, then your question should be answered if you read my posts. I'm forming an opinion on players and give my thoughts wherever possible. If there was another question, I missed it.
It's foolish to assume I was OMGUSing you, when this is your first real contribution to the game. Can't say I agree with your vote on me, but it's not the reason I'm questioning you.

@Shadow: from the people who had actively posted when I said that, I have light townreads on Shinichi, Terry, Proph, Grape, Kami, Dota and Vezok.
Possible scum in last and KJ.
That doesn’t bring the game in POE because too many people weren’t really part in the conversation yet.
@KJ: Grape feels different than the game we just finished where he was scum. There he wasn’t afraid to go for his own goals, while here he shows fear for certain AH items that seem anti-town.
That last game is also why I townread Vezok here. He was solely focused on getting the neutral lynched there as scum. Here he’s spreading his questions and is not taking the easy way out (which would be only talking about mechanics).

I actually thought that ISO's gimmick and OMGUS accusation of you were slightly off-putting.
Especially because I said earlier that I didn't want to vote Kami because I loved the role playing.
What do you find off putting about it other than this? Just based on it being Iso I’d assert than he almost certainly didn’t choose to gimmick because anyone else said anything of note.
Iso, I have a slight tingle towards Vaimes slot, but my question isn’t going to get answered so that’s annoying.
I viscerally want to scum read last and Shin, but that’s a play style thing and I don’t actually think it’s fair.
I like rhands reply to me, so I’m fine with him.
Other than that there’s no one I’ve been particularly pinged toward, which is probably my own fault for not actually feeling drawn into this game yet. Ask me in like 3 days again?

I feel like you are just asking me to repeat myself. I'm sure he probably planned on it, but it makes me slightly uncomfortable having two people role playing and the one that jumped on it later did so after I specifically said I was going to go easy on Kami for now because I liked it.
Terry is town. He overvalues his personal statement about the role-playing and thinks scum would do something to work on just his opinion. Scum wouldn’t even think of that. Town mindset in its purest form.
@Terry: I think some items might be disastrous in scum hands (or bad town) while others can be a big boon to town.

An astute observation improved both my existing view of Rhand, and my previously neutral opinion on Terry. My attention was quickly turned elsewhere, however - claimed by a vigorous man who'd just entered the conversation.

"Gentlemen, I believe I have a plan."
I must confide in you, dear reader, that those events in Arkham were not my first brush with the inexplicable. Years ago, in another place and under far different circumstances, I had experienced such an adventure as might abrade the sanity of men. I had thought those memories buried and gone, but the words sent an unmistakable and familiar chill up my spine. I had undergone great risk, both to my life and to my mind; I had witnessed knots of impossible shape, worked in an inhuman geometry; must I experience those days once more? Was I seeing once again the beginning of that dread and arcane ritual, the madman's working known as the Iso Gambit?!
Then my vision cleared. No, I must hold fast to the belief that those days are gone, lest paranoia consume me entirely. I shall hear this fellow out, and see whether he sheds light or darkness on the proceedings.
I am disquieted by the silence from the very edges of the crowd. Cyan, the one I thought I had glimpsed earlier, was nowhere to be seen. Merely absent, held up by unforeseen circumstances? Or perhaps he was the source of that nagging feeling that something was watching from behind and around, always at the edge of my vision?

But don't you think we should worry about that when we get to it. I just can't even fathom how we can try to control who gets what in the auction and once scum have it, the info is out and there's nothing we can do about it.
Greetings and salutations. I was following along for about the first 75 posts and then dropped off. I am going afk for (likely) the rest of the day, so I'll work on catch-up and contributing tomorrow. Feel free to ask if there are any questions pending for my slot that I might be able to answer.

HOnestly if u actually read into the top quote properly you would realize i made a type, but guess you too up on the high horse to realize i meant to say i would rather my idea than the idea of voting, whats confusing about that??
Also what does revealing more do but gives scum alot more information to work with? Bad idea or not i like my idea lmfao smh.
I feel like that doesnt just depend on town as a whole but as a each player individually, because ik some people can do well with an item like that even has town.
Iso sighs. This Vezokpiraka fellow is caught, but is in denial about it.
"Mister Vezokpiraka, you flagrantly stated that you were paying more attention to mechanics than behavior - therefore, why should I take your word at face value that you are, in fact, reading into the players as you should be?
How is it foolish to presume your accusations are based in malicious intent when you have expressed nothing of value to the game, other than to the benefit of those who would see us dead?
Your supposition regarding the good Sir KamikazeArchon's rhetoric has be somewhat boggled. Are you revealing that you believe Sir KamikazeArchon's style of prose is indicative of his intentions? Would you care to elaborate on that? Because, to me, it sounds a lot like you already know where his allegiances lie."
Iso looks over to the gentleman, Rhand, again.
"Sir Rhand, I'm disappointed in your stance on Mister Vezokpiraka. I believe the gentleman has ill intent. Can you say nothing of the fact that Mister Vezokpiraka speculated primarily on role analysis in the aforementioned venue, this ah, 'Pirates Mafia' you have so colloquially referred to it as?"
Iso puts his arm around the shoulder of shadowlancerx, pulls out his pocketwatch, and taps pointedly at the face of it.
"Time is precious, Sir Shadowlancerx. Who's to say we won't be dead in 3 days? The longer I am away from my safe haven, the greater I fear for my safety. Can you possibly elucidate me as to the nature of your suspicions regarding Mister Vaimes? Do you agree with my assessment that Sirs Shinicni and LastWhisper mean well in their intent, even if their drunken-seeming delivery is garbled? Look into the contents of their words and the meaning behind them, not necessarily the infuriating incomprehensibility of it all."
A delighted look crosses Iso's face.
"Ah, Mister Cantripmancer, good of you to join us on such short notice. What, praytell, is your take on all of this madness? And Sir Shinichi, your defensiveness is unbecoming. Please contribute to the discussion in such a manner that does not allow our nefarious nemeses to take advantage of your ah, shall we say, quirks. Much obliged!"

Do you agree with my assessment that Sirs Shinicni and LastWhisper mean well in their intent, even if their drunken-seeming delivery is garbled? Look into the contents of their words and the meaning behind them, not necessarily the infuriating incomprehensibility of it all."
Well unless one of gets daykilled then I think we should both still be alive in 3 (real life) days.
Since Vaimes is gone it doesn’t really matter; his comments regarding Kami were as though he had only skimmed the surface of kami’s posts because of the posting restriction, when in actuality I think Kami has done a fine job actually conveying his thoughts and opinions through his word play.
I would agree that I don’t really see ill intent with it Shin and Lasts posts, but I don’t so far see the good natured-ness you proclaim to see.
Side note, I really appreciate your play so far this game, this feels like the Iso of old that put work into the game.
@Shin I couldn't decide if it was a typo ir not. It can be hard to tell with your posts sometimes. And yes I'm on a highhorse at the moment, but you're brushing off of giving scum more information like it's a negligible cost is not something I can agree with.
@KJ I'll have to take another look at the posts you mentioned but at a glance I didn't see the good intent you were referring to.
@Iso Do you think scum Vezo would really make such an anti-town proposal immediately? I feel similarly about bidder 77 that I do about Vezok proposal. More misguided than sinister.
I like Rhands read on Terry and for anyone else I'd be all in, but for Terry that feels par for the course. I'm still in on Terry being town, just only wading rather than diving in from the deep end.
Can agree with you there; I think shadow warrants investigation since I don't have much on him in my notes aside from the fact that he's been asking a lot of questions. I'll take a closer look at his posts tomorrow.

Whoever I think is town ofc
Sadly not each and every question can be telling.
Don't really like the taking control over the game proposal, the question I asked is low key showing this. If u were scum herew taking that sort of position would be in your plus. From where the disliking of the idea.
If you don't like Grapefruit's taking over the game proposal, then why are you not voting him for it? There's been a fair amount of content thus far, what are your thoughts on it?
What do you mean by "From where the disliking of the idea"?
Quote from Shinichi »
-Glad u agree on the mechanic stuff I do agree that it shouldnt clog the thread but its kinda inevitable when a new mechanic like the auction house is present, and you are correct about the vezo thing i basically saying someone was gonna do it so i cant sit here saying hes scum because he said it first when he could easily have just been town bringing it up.
Fair, thanks for clarifying. And yeah, I agree it's inevitable, and it should definitely be discussed, it's just that I don't want us missing the forest for the trees here.

-#53 Question-I see RVS in a more different way than you, like for example rvs is suppose to be a simple you vote this person. SOmetimes its more than that which I find scummy, i dont see why someone who is town aligned would put so much effort into a vote thats suppose to be random
While it's great to hear your stance on RVS theory, I'm not really looking for that? My question was why did you want to ask DoTArchon permission to vote him?
Quote from Shinichi »
-What do you think of vaimes and DBS?
Vaimes is null for me at the moment; I'm a little annoyed that he replaced out because normally he's really obvtown when he's town and I enjoy playing with him, but Cantrip is also someone I haven't played with in a while. I like DBS's comments regarding shadow but I have not paid much attention to her yet.

-#136 - Idk if i am allowed to answer this question dota and shadow are the ones on that train that worry me, outside of terry's over justified RVS vote he doesnt seem to bad.
What is your read on Grapefruit? Judging by how you made this comment I'd assume that you have him as leaning town of some sort but I checked your ISO and didn't find a read on him; can you enlighten me please?

-Why give them the benefit of the doubt? They're all experienced players and should not be ignored due to being on a new site espically since day 1 will last 3 weeks which gives them all quite alot of time to post content if they get scum read thats on them not the site. I honestly just not a fan of this post from you, kinda feel's like u want ms players to pocket you unless i am reading into it wrong.
that post was mainly for game health reasons
there was a lot of culture clash in Zero Escape Mafia and some people did not have fun with that game. while this game is going slower than that one i wanted to try to erode that type of culture clash since in my experience it's pretty actively harmful for town
like, agree or disagree with it, but i was just listing out my thoughts there
both sides clashed naturally, and gave out their thoughts in a way I say...wasn't forced. Last is something like a nervous wreck as scum, and it's more pronounced when pressured, but in that debate he handled himself in a relaxed manner, hence the townlean. it's like, the fluff is what makes him a townread, since he's prone to go over and beyond as nervous scum.
thanks, this was the type of nuances read i was looking for
i don't have much experience with Last!scum though, but I do know he is unfiltered and headstrong as town. is he easily readable as scum in your experience?

thinking about it, my top suspect would probably be shadowlancer? 170 is basically a post that says a whole lot of nothing, and i don't.. recall any townie trains of thoughts coming from him. going to look over him in depth more later this week but his ISO is just pretty underwhelming from a quick skim

i think the content of his posts is solid. like i said, he plays differently than how most people play mafia but I liked his responses in 155, plus in 157 it shows that he's thinking about things from a town mindset i feel

I'm fine with having specific townies we can all collectively trust claim to use specific items, but I don't want that discussion to take up a major part of the day. Not the biggest fan of massclaiming though, I feel like the correct strategy for MTGS Specialties is to treat the game as vanilla/behavioral based until necessary.

Quote from rhand »
@Proph: when Shinichi has answered you, please give your read on him. It bugs me that you understand Grape’s townread while at the same time you’re throwing scum-hunting questions at Shinichi.
(for the record I haven't forgotten about this now that he has answered my questions, i'll get into it tomorrow)
when i get some free time in the next two days I will look more deeply at vezok/dbs/etc
Unvote vote shadowlancerx
really hope lurkers start showing up and playing, especially cyan. would be sad if he dropped out
Question for people with more experience than me: how drastically does the game change being this large? I'm already more of a coalition builder than a scum hunter in the first place (though I do both) does the extra size make forming a town circle less valuable? Or the opposite which was my original take, but I've since wavered on.
Town: Shin, Rhand, Proph, Terry, and maybe Iso isn't a bad starting point.

nervousscum.I haven't played with Vaimes before. Shadow is also someone I'm sure will respond to suspicions without pressure voting.
@Vaimes
I asked you a question at #133. why do some players remind you of Shinichi?
@Grapefruit21
why are you so interested in the logs? I kinda understand the basis for it, and that you're a mechanical player, but I don't really see it as a concern now when town is the majority.
Be grateful, always."
Also, lol, Bur makes the best memes even when he's not in the game.
What exactly do you want me to respond too?

trusting each other is the key to winning. saying that we are meant to play distrusting each other is not a good look.
Be grateful, always."
(Unvote) I am 100% on board with this.
Slightly related thought, I also think people should be mindful not to fluff post over and over for the sake of it/to text wall over pedantic details. 100% disagree. Scum is scum, and giving people a pass for non game related reasons is a really good way to lose. Can you post a reads list? Having enough town reads to start PoE reading people this early in the game seems baffling to me. That would be me.
"Gentlemen, I believe I have a plan."

Yes I do. But weren’t you saying earlier that item spec is a worthless discussion?
I think the logs will couple players to their numbers, either for everyone or for those that won auctions.
Please understand that I would have focused the neutral even as town. I think neutrals are inherently anti-town and need to be lynched the moment they claimed barring special cases.

Cyan has been prodded and has until Thursday till we start seeking replacement
A gentle reminder that posting every 72 hours is required. Some leeway due to it being Easter weekend.
HOnestly if u actually read into the top quote properly you would realize i made a type, but guess you too up on the high horse to realize i meant to say i would rather my idea than the idea of voting, whats confusing about that??
Also what does revealing more do but gives scum alot more information to work with? Bad idea or not i like my idea lmfao smh.
I feel like that doesnt just depend on town as a whole but as a each player individually, because ik some people can do well with an item like that even has town.
Much obliged!"

explain your light townread on me, rhand? more specifically, can you walk me through what changed from this post to that post now:

really hope lurkers start showing up and playing, especially cyan. would be sad if he dropped out
Question for people with more experience than me: how drastically does the game change being this large? I'm already more of a coalition builder than a scum hunter in the first place (though I do both) does the extra size make forming a town circle less valuable? Or the opposite which was my original take, but I've since wavered on.
Town: Shin, Rhand, Proph, Terry, and maybe Iso isn't a bad starting point.
