With the few last survivors, you all gather in the lobby in order to finally put an end to this all.
The discussion about who is responsible for this and who isn't goes on for a moment, until one of you points out to a blonde man covered in blood and carrying a bloody fire axe with him.
"Why don't we start with him?"
The blonde man responded to these accusations with a simple "What?"
This didn't stop the man accusing him.
"Look at him, he's all covered in blood and guts and is obviously the killer!"
Others finally looked at the man to notice that he was indeed covered in blood.
It took them only a moment to grab the axe out of his hand and end the man by his own weapon.

"You heard me. Shoot me. Don't worry... I won't die. Even if this body is destroyed, my conscience will be---"
You're a firefighter who has decided to take part in the Nonary Game in order to pay your sister's medical fees. That means that, unlike many of the others in the facility, you have a clear purpose for being here and know more about what is going on than you let out. Delta approached you and offered you a large sum of money to take part in a game "where your life may be put on the line". Knowing that you would never pay the medical fees by simply working as a firefighter, you've decided to put it all on the line and participate. While the idea of murder is repulsive to you, you won't hesitate to kill if necessary in order to get what you need.
You have the following abilities:
Passive Abilities: Avoiding Death: All killing actions taken against you will fail. Miraculous Comeback: If you were to die for having 0 or less BP, you will not. Instead, your BP will be restored to 1 and you will lose this ability.
You start the game with 3 BP.
You win when Mafia has taken control of the game.

On the dawn of the eighth day it came to your realization that Lady Luck is a fickle mistress.
The last of you had attempted to sleep, but no one was able to sleep really well, living in the fear of getting killed next.

Actually nevermind, the scum are probably already aware of what happened and they're going to be aiming for a kill on me anyways since they will assume I got enough BP to protect again tonight.
LW and I gambitted. He gave me an extra BP the night before and helped me lie about it, so I had a doc protect available for Jenna. Pretty sure I blocked the kill last night. Finally. So, I believe that gives us some leeway. Propose we lynch Tom, who hopefully was tracked to the kill. And if we are somehow wrong, we now have a spare mislynch to knock out lngrr, who is the only other remotely likely culprit from my perspective.
I'd say no way it's Jenna. Why would scum!Jenna reveal that scum!Phoenix was tracked to the kill? If the day somehow isn't over, and tonight Jenna is killed, then Az is my choice as LW has used his ability in a super towny way.
After the third missed deathless night, people started to realise that something was amiss. Maybe their captors hadn't bothered to kill anyone. Maybe there required sleep...
... or maybe it was because the one performing the kills wasn't in any condition to actually kill anyone.
It was then when everyone else's attention turned to me. They all stared at me, like predators who had just found their prey.
I guess my time had finally come. But, it doesn't matter anymore. I have gotten what I wanted. My plan was successful.
Even if they kill me know, they can't stop it anymore.
-----
"Hey guys, what about that old guy in the wheelchair" said Jenna, when wondering who they should kill today.
"Wheelchair? Did we have such a person here" wondered LnGrrrR loudly.
"Yeah, that guy who is supposed to be mute and deaf and can't move without his wheelchair" added Lastwhisper.
"If it means escaping from here, I guess we have no other choice" sighed Azrael.
Then, Jenna picked up the shotgun and aimed at the old man.
To their surprise, the man stood up from the wheelchair without any help and said:
"I must congratulate you all. You did a splendid work figuring this all out. Now, it's time for you to shoot me. That's all that you need to do in order to escape from here, so get on with it!"
And then a loud bang was echoed in the room and the old man slumped down.
tomsloger has been lynched! They were:
Delta - Mafia Mind Hacker
"But that's just the way of life. Sinner or innocent, people will die or be killed in an unjust manner."
Being old and senile doesn't mean that you are harmless. Most people around you regard you as an old man, who couldn't even stand his ground against a little kid.
They have no idea who they are talking about.
You are one of the most powerful espers to ever have existed on this planet. While your physical body is no more at its peak, your mind is still working clear as ever.
Being able to manipulate people and read their minds has really proved to be convenient powers,
when you are orchestrating a deadly game of distrust. You have complex motives for doing this all, that normal people couldn't even comprehend.
In this timeline, your aim is to put people in life-threatening scenarios, such that people with
access to SHIFT abilities SHIFT out of this timeline and into a timeline where everyone is alive and motivated to prevent humanity's extinction. As such, you must terminate everyone in this facility in order to achieve your goals. You may die in the process, but that is fine - you have countless other selves from other timelines succeeding. You hope that this timeline is the one that will, but it's not a problem if it doesn't.
You have the following abilities:
Active Abilities: Mind Hack - Decision (4): Target a player. If that player has an active ability, you will choose their target on their behalf tonight. Mind Hack - Revote (3): Target a player. You will be able to choose whether that player allies or betrays that Night. (If this causes to have their vote changed, that player will be informed.) Mind Hack - Mindread (2): Target a player. You will read that player's mind, receiving their full role PM.
Passive Abilities: Free the Soul: When you die, choose one of your active abilities and an another mafia member. That mafia member gains that active ability.
You start the game with 3 BP.
You win when Mafia has taken control of the game.
Taking a closer look, Azrael approached the body and after few moments, declared the old man dead.
Diana - Town Doctor
"Six of us are... dead. Counting myself, there are only three left. They were killed. I... I guess you could say I killed them... No...no, that's not quite right. Not just them. Not just these six... All of them... All six billion... Soon, I will have killed six billion people..."
You are a pacifistic and gentle woman, who'd love nothing more than people getting along. Having worked in a hospital for years and having medical training will help you to survive through this nightmarish ordeal.
Still, even though the game has just started, you can already feel the pressure upon your shoulders. People and putting their faith in you, maybe too much for your liking. You are not worthy of their faith. You can't save everyone. People will die because of you. You are not perfect. You aren't ever enough. You can't do anything right.
You hate others for putting their faith in you.
You hate yourself even more for accepting it.
How will you manage to escape alive?
You have the following abilities:
Active Abilities: Medical Training (2): Target a player. You will use your skills to keep them alive against a single attempt on their life.
You start the game with 3 BP.
You win when there are no threats remaining.
After that, Jenna Tolaria threw away the shotgun, finally feeling relieved that they had managed to survive.
Sigma - Town Tracker
"ARGH! GODDAMNIT! ENOUGH ALREADY! Guys, listen to me. We REALLY don't have time for this."
You are a 67 year old man inhabiting a 22 year old body. Compared to your much younger self, you are more rational and logical, often reluctant to take actions that your 22-year old self would have recklessly done in the past. (In addition, you are less prone to sticking your foot in your mouth by making perverted statements). Even though you have worked on the Nonary Game in the past, you can't imagine why someone has decided to make you a participant in one. Still, because your knowledge in designing a similar Nonary Game, you know more about this specific facility than others, and can utilize that to your advantage.
You have the following abilities:
Active Abilities: Bionic Eye (2): Target a player. You will keep an eye on them and will find out who they targeted tonight.
You start the game with 3 BP.
You win when there are no threats remaining.
That left LnGrrrR and Lastwhisper looking at each other, both feeling really lucky that they had made it out of this alive, despite both being children without any special talents...
Sean - Town BP Giver
"I can't go... I can't leave him behind, sorry!"
You are a young amnesiac boy, with no memory whatsoever how you ended up in this situation. Still, this entire place is giving you a really strong feeling of déjà vu.
The thought of leaving this place doesn't really feel appealing to you, but you still want to get rid of the evildoers running the Nonary Game.
Luckily for you, even though you can't remember the reason, you just happen to have some level of access to the system running this game, letting you manipulate the bracelets to some degree...
You have the following abilities:
Active Abilities: Access to the System (1): Target a player. You will use your access to the game system to give that player 1 BP.
You start the game with 3 BP.
You win when there are no threats remaining.
Quark - Town Analyser
"No, I'M fine... YOU'RE the crazy ones. Getting so... serious... about this stupid game... We should just stop... End this... End all of it... End everything...
You are a cheerful and energetic young boy. While you aren't really strong like the adults here, you know that you can use your wits to help others to find the traitors.
No one will assume that you have an agenda behind your inquiries, since you are still a child. You just hope that you can be of enough help to the adults...
You have the following abilities:
Active Abilities: Perception (2): Target a player. You will learn whether that player chose to ally or betray tonight.
You start the game with 4 BP.
You win when there are no threats remaining.
Soon after that, the huge door in the lobby opened up, revealing the elevator that lead them to outside.
They quickly made their way to elevator and used it to get away from the morbid facility.
After the elevator reached the top floor, they all saw a door leading to outside.
Jenna quickly rushed to it, and pulled it open.
Sunlight filled everyone's eyes. The air of Nevada desert filled their lungs, while the bright light from the sun hit their faces. They had survived this trial. They were still alive.
Zero Escape Mafia has ended in Town Victory. Thank you everyone for your participation!

Fun game! I'm glad we decided not to lynch Azrael. Sorry to DBS and LW for not trusting them sooner, but I came around. I wish my ability had been slightly more useful, and honestly, I think the scum team did awesome. Tom kept up his streak of being a great player no matter what alignment he pulled. I think MVP goes to either Az or Jenna.

N1 tracked

N4 redirected
N5 blocked

N7 doc protect AND tracked to unsuccessful attempt
Actually, shoot, maybe DBS for MVP for blocking those kills. Gave us the time we needed. Yeah. I'll say DBS. He also helped convince town not to lynch Az.
GG town! Was a crazy game with a lot of ups and downs.
First thing this game got really unpleasant on a lot of sides but I'm glad people were able to calm down and not be as rude or insulting later in the game. Made it a much more pleasant experience towards the end. But early on the level of toxicity was unpleasant and as a result I said some really rude things venting in the spec chat and to the mods directly. Fighting fire with fire never works on the internet and I'm glad that as a group the game calmed down later on.
Second Phoenix and Tom played absolutely incredible games. Phoenix had no business surviving as long as he did and played an awesome behavioural game. Tom had me fooled in the dead chat for ages including me calling him the town MVP multiple times. So yeah I'm bad at this game. Really bad.
Third I can't give Azrael big enough props. He fought like hell and never gave up. He was under consistent pressure for many days in a row and close to being lynched multiple times. And he didn't let it happen. He had a true claim that looked suspect given flips and had pressured several townies and gone to bat for a member of the mafia team in a big way and he still didn't let himself get lynched. He kept fighting and trying to solve the game. And he did. He was to my knowledge the first (though many arrived there at a similar time) that the scum team was Tom/Phoenix and he saw it through. Just an awesome performance by him.
A lot of people had great moments Jenna with the clutch track that gave town an outside chance to catch phoenix, DBS blocked kills twice, Wisp had some well timed donations, Axelrod was a rock and had a great redirect that made the game easier to solve, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting working of the top of my head. That said there was a lot of faulty logic used to make reads and while town won I hesitate to say that the town played this game well. We were prone to getting distracted by unimportant things (me on LnGrrrR wanting people to ally, Jenna on the random pairings, DBS on Shin's claim being scummy even after Kaba's flip) and just made a lot of bad arguments. I think reflecting on this game should be an exercise in humility for a lot of us.
Lastly major props to Bur, this was not an easy game to host given the fraught tensions and he handled it well. The design he and proph came up with was great and he executed keeping the flavorful updates coming.
1st game win for this site. apologies for the number of posts (and Grapefruit21/Shinichi for the tunnel)
a bit salty that I never got to be vig in the end what did I live for?
I'll give myself credit for pushing my townreads to the finish line - weakest became the strongest (Azrael/Last)
still looks like I do best at reading new meta ~ I tend to look through lenses with old meta
this game was such a mechanical throwoff that... I'm so glad I never relied much on mechanics
surprisingly, there wasn't any tpr
a bit town-sided without confusion from the 3rd
but I think the duplicate roles were a good confusing element
scumteam were pretty good
lynching reviver and killing cop sure took town back
I think Phoenix should've betrayed (I mean ally) me N1
Tom should've sacrificed himself first with that passive
Azrael and me not being lynched early probably cost them the game
Phoenix/Tom carried the other players well
town win despite the infighting is hmm.... impressive!
didn't think I would tunnel town after forever - ended up on Shin lol
Axel and Azrael are probs the most insightful players here
I really liked Terry's way of thinking/observation
it was probably a blessing that Iso killed Shin - narrowed down the PoE
I love Jenna's posts and way of thinking haha
I'll be around tonight to field any questions about the setup, but tldr: I didn't account for a late design change and that probably made the setup more townsided than it should have.
Late design change was changing +3/-2 for Ally/Betray to +3/-1, I designed the game assuming that scum would get at least one free kill off of betrayal and going down one BP was trivial given how many points were being added due to BP.
Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
-2 would definitely have made the AB game way more impactful. On the other hand, that really would have opened up a game breaking strategy for forcing extra kills, I think.
Maybe 2 and 1, instead? I think the setup was pretty great, one or two mafia roles could have been strengthened (NO was worthless), but Jenna and dbs just utilized what they had really, really well.
Also DBS is 100% the reason I survived that many lynch attempts. That was huge.

I have many questions I think this would have still been townsided if you added a 5th scum and changed nothing else
Feel free to post them in here, then, and I'll get to them when I have time.
why was there 4 different roles that could mess with our nightkill (AND two that could see it)?
Why did the town counter to our "extra kp" cost half as much?
Why stack all the important scum roles on me so we never had enough bp?
Why were NONE of our roles claimable?
Why did redirects advertise themselves?
Why did they have more kp AND more manipulatives than us?
Like, I'm not mad maybe a little frustrated. But I don't think we ever had more than a punchers chance
My vote is DBS for town MVP. Great analysis, best voting record, good use of her ability. Well done.
Scum played a very tough game also. Would have been very difficult to catch some of them without good fortune on our abilities.
See I think (and not being a jerk) but Dawning's analysis made absolutely no sense almost ever. Her actions were great, and she had a decent voting record, but I think it was more a reverse of cftwr. Right for the wrong reasons?
Mmm. The town wasn't totally stacked, especially considering that roles like mine and DV and Grape needed significant investments to come online, but the mafia was definitely on the weak side. The redirect notification was also a gigantic nerf to that ability, that likely wasn't properly accounted for.
I do think the mafia outplayed the town, but it's a bit of an exaggeration to say that town abilities made this impossible for the mafia. There were several chances earlier for the mafia to take out Jenna and DBS instead of the chosen targets. That would have greatly helped. As is, I was just praying that you guys kept buying that DBS is neutral line I kept raising, because that no cost ability plus the analysis were absolutely vital. Take her out, and we would have collapsed, and my lynch would have gone through easily, leaving Jenna alone and exposed.
Town had some nice advantages, but mafia could very well have made a few minor adjustments to win.
@Az: we tried to take her out, but Axel ruined that and that made toms role claim get a little more scrutiny.
Also, I'm a gimmick, hence the no meta. -_-

DBS was most effective as a town reader. She didn't get the chance to participate in the final two lynches, but she would have, for substantialmy similar reasons. But she staves off a number of bad lynches, and town read people well enough to point herself in the right direction, and IIRC helped with Cyth and kaba.
Sometimes, right for the wrong reasons is just a matter of being better at identifying townies, than making the scum case. Wrong reasons doesn't really take away from the achievement, if the real underlying reason was a POE that reliably works.

Yeah. I think I'd have wanted her dead somewhere in the first three days instead.

I think as an observer I had a hard time seeing this because she more than anyone else caused my lynch to happen and she hard pushed Shinichi with more effort than she did anything else during the game. But you do raise a point that outside of that she did a good job identifying townies.
I'll also slightly disagree on scum misplaying by not killing DBS at an earlier stage. N1 DV I think was a good kill. If they target her N2 the kill is blocked regardless. N3 they had a role cop result on Terry and he was about to be a fully active Doc so he was an equal level role threat and both were widely town read. N4 they tried but Axel successfully redirected the kill. Like maybe they should have killed her N1 but at that point she seemed mislynchable and it wasn't until the blocked kill that people actually believed she was town. After that they never really had a chance unless you want to argue they should have left Terry alive.

After that, Jenna Tolaria threw away the shotgun, finally feeling relieved that they had managed to survive.
"ARGH! GODDAMNIT! ENOUGH ALREADY! Guys, listen to me. We REALLY don't have time for this."

Bionic Eye (2): Target a player.

Access to the System (1): Target a player. You will use your access to the game system to give that player 1 BP.

You win when there are no threats remaining.

Perception (2): Target a player.
Speaking of Jenna, where's my apology?

Scum played a very tough game also. Would have been very difficult to catch some of them without good fortune on our abilities.
The design he and proph came up with was great and he executed keeping the flavorful updates coming.
a bit salty that I never got to be vig in the end
what did I live for?I'll give myself credit for pushing my townreads to the finish line - weakest became the strongest (Azrael/Last)
still looks like I do best at reading new meta ~ I tend to look through lenses with old meta
this game was such a mechanical throwoff that... I'm so glad I never relied much on mechanics
surprisingly, there wasn't any tpr
a bit town-sided without confusion from the 3rd
but I think the duplicate roles were a good confusing element
scumteam were pretty good
lynching reviver and killing cop sure took town back
I think Phoenix should've
betrayed(I mean ally) me N1Tom should've sacrificed himself first with that passive
Be grateful, always."
Be grateful, always."
Late design change was changing +3/-2 for Ally/Betray to +3/-1, I designed the game assuming that scum would get at least one free kill off of betrayal and going down one BP was trivial given how many points were being added due to BP.
Maybe 2 and 1, instead? I think the setup was pretty great, one or two mafia roles could have been strengthened (NO was worthless), but Jenna and dbs just utilized what they had really, really well.
Also DBS is 100% the reason I survived that many lynch attempts. That was huge.
Anyone I know and love?
And know? Yes. Love? Maybe
If you have a guess you can PM me.
