I'm a bit peeved either way because I got lynched partly because of being honest about my role. If I'm GF's backup that's kind of jank, being a back up to a one-shot. If I'm Shadow's backup its pretty jank too, especially because it's pretty jank if he's a worthless flavor cop.

I'm a jank worthless flavor cop. Worse than worthless, detrimental.
This is super gross. Like, super, super, super gross.
But the fact that Terry isn't grasping how those posts by Cyan make him lock town just makes me want to lynch Terry even more. Because it shows a fundamental difference in how people approach the game of mafia and what is acceptable and means I don't... feel as bad for scum reading him due to his own posts.
This post game is going to be brutal when we get around to it a month from now. I've tried to ignore most of it I really have but there's been like, 4 people who have made posts that go against the spirit of the game this game and it'll need addressing.
lol @ "Well I was too good and people took that into account, so I made a new account to run over people with all over again'.
Whatever. I was wrong all over the place this game, no one to blame but myself.
No, not at all sorry.
I generally just play on Voxxicus when I play, but there's been a couple games where I join games on gimmicks when it's purely a favor to the mod, and I have no expectations of actually playing the game with investment or effort.
Proph is a good friend, and when half the game replaced out on D1, I reluctantly agreed to take a spot despite having zero time to play mafia for another 2 weeks or so.
I just...eventually decided that Proph deserved a game that would be remembered for something other than replacements and apathy, and threw myself into the game full bore to at least make it interesting and memorable.

Putting our fist fight aside. You need to not be so abrasive and arrogant, neither are good town-traits. I couldn't stop tunneling on you even after I did the Hunt VA that said you were probably town. I guess people can read this game and figure out how to push my buttons and get me mislynched.

Wow, I'd love to give you crap for being so full of yourself, but man you earned it here.
I mean, I'm never going to stop being abrasive and arrogant as town. It is what it is. It's hard to fake as scum though.
I think you got buried by your role first and foremost, it just seemed like you were tacking that on to get the lynch on Rhand to finally go through. It was never a believable claim, sadly.
Sorry about my lack of effort; I only replaced in as a favor to Voxx, and he basically said "all you have to do is reinforce the Mind/Rhand dichotomy, then make it look like you're clumsily bussing Mindreaver, and then Terry." I wouldn't call this effort really indicative of my overall game.
I'm... probably not the right one to do it, but someone, maybe someone objective, should really talk in depth about the CoC violations here.
Like, Terry, from your point of view you were just doing whatever you could to clear yourself, but you need to take a step back and look at things from a game health/game fairness perspective. There are things that town should absolutely not be able to do, because if you let them do it, you either have to accept that it's okay for scum to fake them (which is terrible) or you have to let town clear themselves for doing it, which isn't at all fair to the scumteam.

Which is why I'm a bit peeved that I had to fight through an honest town claim.
Anyways, you really should have been warned by the mod. It really killed this game for me. I just can't accept that as a valid play style, it's against your wincon and you aren't supposed to make personal attacks according to the CoC. I admit you got me and I'm guilty of the same, but that sucks it was Town v Town. I even thought that several times and just couldn't get over your play style.

Part of me is bothered that the OoG conviction really did mean both of you were town. A big part of me is frustrated that I didn't run with it. I *suspected*, but let apathy get the better of me.

Yeah, I'd like to see the setup. Hoping it makes more sense after that than it does now.

Don't mean to come across that way. Just I literally couldn't post at all D1, and had trouble getting invested into the game D2. I just made the conscious effort to try and engage with people and make people care about the game more, because in the end we're playing a game together that I want to be /fun/ not something that is a chore and we just want to be over.
There's no joy in stomping over a scum team that is apathetic and replacement filled, and there's no joy in winning as scum in a game that town doesn't care about. It's why I did some of the things I did on D3. Win or lose, it'd make the game more interesting than it was on D1/D2. I'll talk more about some of it once things are fully revealed.

Can we all just take a minute to consider how funny it was that Mind had to start making /intentionally/ over the top wolfy posts to get himself lynched, as opposed to the /unintentionally/ but still incredibly wolfy posts he made for like the entire game?
I don't think I've ever seen anyone try to take a dive and repeatedly fail like that. It was kind of beautiful.

Yeah, I really dislike my role but recognize its purpose. Nice that I could count on Mind to make me look stupid

Like what? Please explain what I did?
Like I said, I'm probably not the right person to try to make this point, but.
Okay, consider a hypothetical game where two players, let's call them Cerry and Tyan - get into a huge fight. Cerry makes a post that says, "if I'm scum this game, I give you permission to ban me from the forum."
Imagine the kind of toxicity and *****show that would come about from Cerry making that post as a wolf. Imagine what people would think of him, and imagine the kind of precedent it would set for future games. Cerry is bringing something outside the game into the game, and using it as a reason he's town.
So from a hypothetical random town player in the game's perspective, you pretty much just have to clear Cerry. He "went there," in a way that no scum would ever do, so he has to be town. Which is not at all fair to the scumteam. For it to be fair to the scumteam for Cerry to post something like that, you have to say, "okay, scum, it's perfectly okay to fake a post like that, just to get townread." Like I said - imagine the kind of games we'd have here if that was the norm.
Since we don't want incredibly toxic games, town cannot be allowed to post things that are so over the top gross to fake as a wolf, that town has no choice but to clear them. Because getting a clear like that for OOG reasons is incredibly unfair to the scumteam. It's not "baked-in" in the sense of normal game balance of PRs, info roles, etc.
It's like... imagine that at any time, some random town could become an Innocent Child just by saying "I bet you $1000 I'm not scum, here's my PayPal account." Does that seem like a good thing for game health?
Idk if I'm being clear here. It's a pretty widely-accepted rule most places I play, and it's not something I've ever had to really articulate.
Now we need to see how town!me stacks up against scum!you.
I can't wait!! Go /in for ISO's game and we can see!
Eh, really tempting, as I'm sure it's going to be a lovely game, but I have one of my own that's about to fire, AND I've been neglecting things IRL..... ah heck wit' it. Ok.

I feel like you did an excellent job of communicating the issue, Newcomb. I'm a little ashamed that for a bit I considered that Cyan may be making those posts as scum, with the intent of leaving the forums after the game. But that's exactly the problem.
Since we're getting into OoG stuff can someone talk to me about my Newcomb angleshot. I'm legit at a loss. When I posted that I knew it was on the edge of acceptable, but figured since it was all in the thread it wasn't too too egregious. I could tell it really upset a few people and maybe it wasn't as close to the line as I figured. And I'm definitely sorry if I made the game less fun for anyone because of it. Once it became clear that it wasn't being viewed as kosher I messaged Proph and asked him to modkill me if it was really that far over the line.
Basically I'm sorry and lost and didn't mean to take away from the game.
More importantly huge good game to the scum team. You had me pretty much completely fooled.
I came pretty close to just conceding and refusing to post.
I did not want to be forced into a position where I either had to town read Terry for stuff that was OOG and almost certainly lose the game, be forced into making gross posts to continue to scum read him to further my win condition.
I set up the Terry lynch so that he had zero behavioral outs. He was never not getting lynched today unless he did something against the spirit of the game to clear himself.
I don't want to put Proph on the spot here, because he's a good friend and generally a good mod - but he put the scum team in an impossible position by not just modkilling and ending the game. I value game health, community health, and game integrity, but I felt like I had to violate some of that to continue playing to win this game.
And that is why you just can't say some of the things that were said.
Imagine the kind of toxicity and *****show that would come about from Cerry making that post as a wolf. Right. The fact that that was a thought you had to consider, as town, is not something that should happen in a game of mafia, like ever.

There's a lesson to be learned that defending people based on flavor or role assumptions is very dangerous.
When someone is as scummy as Mindreaver was, it generally means they are just scum.
Idk. Still think you and Terry are scum for defending Mindreaver so heavily.
I wanted him dead so badly, D3 was beyond exhausting.
For what it's worth, I enjoyed playing with you very much this game, and I definitely felt all kinds of empathy and pain for pocketing you so hard.
I honestly thought you were town. Oh well. I got Sir Chris'd all over again.
Meh this seems like a good time to take a break, this game was hugely exhausting.
Sorry about Ultimate Showdown version 2, Cyan.
Whatever. I was wrong all over the place this game, no one to blame but myself.
Bah and humbug.
10/10 would Town with again.
No, not at all sorry.
