If I was going to bus GJ I'd have tunneled him into the ground rather than -shrug- all over the place about him.
I voted GJ because I thought the other wagons at the time were bad, and my vote wasn't being used after unvoting upon Mal replacing out. Can't remember what the wagons were at the time, you/Cyan/Iso? I don't mind a Cyan lynch at this point, but at the early stages he simply hadn't been around much and couldn't tell if it was town or scum cyan tunnel on you.
I liked the self-meta here; it's something that's easy enough to fake, but it seems genuine and it makes sense.
I like the way that you talk about why you voted GJ; the "I don't remember the wagons but I think one was Cyan who I think is scum now but before is lurky" line in particular gets me for some reason.
Perking up after I get a confirmed scum 'flip' isn't exactly unusual. Gives me something concrete to read back through and look at.
I like this and I like the fact that you're perking up after the GJ flip. I think that if you were scum and you had -shrug- interactions with GJ as opposed to good bus interactions you would feel more deflated than you already did and thus we'd be looking at a dropoff in energy as opposed to an increase.
I also liked your eyeing interaction with me; I think that when you're town and you're excited about catching something you get too seriously and I think if you were scum posturing to mislynch me then you'd go about it differently.

Eco wagon is pretty trashy, Iso pretty much proves he can only actually read me for ***** when he rolls scum (and then waffles on it day 2). Crap, gave away Iso scum tell.
Unvote, Vote Azrael.
tom is lean town. Going past the roleplay, he seems more interactive than anyone here, and cares about interactions.
MT feels really low impact from the one game I remember he was town in (I think it was Dota's grid something)
Newcomb can also be town. I know, I know effort =/= town, but when no one else is doing anything, well....you get the idea. I just picture the state of the game, and the team being tom/Newcomb/X probably means we just get destroyed by apathy.
Considering the last Invitational, you were hellbent on me, DC, and SC, one would think you wouldn't stick to fricken long to a preliminary read.
Cyan's slot could be replaced with MT's slot, I suppose. Taking the path of least resistance when Cyan usually goes for the long game feels suspect.
The way he talked about Mal just feels like a contrast to the way he talked about others and what was happening in the thread. It's hard to explain, just pinged me when I was reading through his ISO.

Soon after the Yeti's death, some cards thought to ask Yogg-Saron, Hope's End what had happened. Yogg-Saron was one of the newer cards, but he knew basically of every spell in Hearthstone. Maybe he would have some insight as to what spell could have caused the Yeti's death - to figure out what the murder weapon was. That spell would certainly come under some suspicion.
The cards made their way to the Old God's lair to speak with Yogg-Saron. The cards immediately peppered Yogg with questions. "Do you know who killed the Yeti?" "What spell do you think caused the Yeti to die?" "Did a minion kill the Yeti, or did a spell do it?"
"BOW DOWN BEFORE THE GOD OF DEATH!" Yogg screamed, clearly being annoyed by all of these newcomers and random questions. Spells started to fly around, such as Ice Block, Twisting Nether, Cleave, Mind Blast..
While all the spells were flying around, though, one couldn't help notice the stench of blood permeating from Yogg-Saron himself. "Could that be..." one of the cards mumbled out loud. That same card remembered the Yeti's words: "I believe that it was the advent of the Old Gods which ushered in this terrible path we may now be headed towards."
Before long a five-power bumped into Yogg himself. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Yogg yelled, as the evidence of the murder quickly revealed himself: Yogg slew the Yeti himself.
Gentleman Johnny was:
Yogg-Saron, Hope's End - Mafia Rolecop
I spell your doom... Y-O-U-R D-O-O-M!
You are the ultimate RNG card of all of Hearthstone, and the ruiner of tournaments and the cause of many stolen games. When Mother Blizzard designed you, they intended for you to be some "fun" card that wouldn't really be competitive, but something for casual players to have fun with. A couple of Brian Kibler videos and a Monte-Carlo evaluation later, and competitive players quickly grasped your game-swinging powers and abused them - so much that Blizzard nerfed you. Even after the nerf, however, your game-changing power is still incredibly powerful, and should be respected. There are no other cards that can get you out of a hole like you can.
Once per Night, you or one of the other mafia members may perform a nightkill. You may not perform the nightkill and perform another action unless you are the last mafia player remaining.
Once per Night, due to your vast knowledge of every spell in the game, you can target another player and receive a copy of their role PM.
It is now Night 1. Do not post. Actions are due within 72 hours.
The cards were overjoyed to have caught the Yeti's murderer and to have expunged Yogg-Saron into Naxxramas, but it seems that Yogg-Saron was not acting alone. As soon as all the cards woke up from the Collection, they faced a similar situation - another murder.
Equality was one of the most important Paladin spells as it gave the Paladin a board-clear combined with other spells, which they normally do not have with the exception of Consecration, which also combined well with Equality. However, it seems like Equality's life was cut short, as the other cards could no longer find him nested next to Argent Protector and Grimestreet Outfitter.
Instead, he was out exactly where the Yeti was when the Yeti died - in the center of the Tavern, with several deep gashes on the card. The murderer probably had to resort to some different tactics if they were killing a spell instead of a minion. Still, this tore a deep hole into one of the Paladin's most defining cards, and there was no easy replacement for Equality. It seems as though they will need to wait until Mother Blizzard prints a card with similar functionality.
Azrael has been killed. He was:
Azrael you are:

We are all special unique snowflakes... with 1 Health.
Who says Paladin doesn't have a board clear? With four or six mana, you can combo with one of your two friends, Wild Pyromancer or Consecration, in order to diminish even the most powerful boardstate into nothingness. Seeing as you aren't often played by yourself, you are often paired with one of your friends in order to savagely devastate the board. Luckily, the Pyromancer is here with you today! Since you two are always at the beck and call of each other (and both being in the same deck, and both being played at the same time), you know that you can fully confide in him. Here's to yet another round of board-clearing!
You share a private chat with your partner REDACTED. You both are confirmed town to one another.
It is now Day 2. With 10 alive, it is 6 to lynch.
The deadline is set for Monday, December 29th at 9:00 PM EST. I will probably give you guys a holiday extension or something near Christmas if you guys need it.
Not even a word. Oh well, time for me to TAKE OVER THE GAME.
... Starting tomorrow, when I am off for two weeks. Btw the scum is screwed, I have free time and I was on point with GJ, time to tilt the board again.

Any chance you could actually finish posting your catchup note dump?
I don't really have plans on catching up until I find another large block of time - right now, my main focus is getting engaged and making myself more of a presence, and I'm not sure that catching up would change my reads overmuch; if someone thinks I'm pushing something stupid, it shouldn't be an overly inconvenient request to have them make a case for it.
I also have jumping off points that I'm happy with; I didn't like Cyan's part in the claim wars and I'd like to talk to him about it. I expect that Voxx is going to push me plenty today and ask me things about specific times so I'll be happy to read back and digest portions of the game that way.
I also had a thought yesterday that Tom might decide to play a more conventional scumgame with Cyan as a scumpartner - @Tom, what do you think of this thought?
gj is dead scum
cyan/iso are the most connected to him
voxx is unconnected but seems scummy
vaimes/seppel/eco approximately equidistant in shrug/poe land
chris confirmed town
newcomb nearly confirmed
thug was very town, nacho less so
Why do you think Iso and GJ were connected? Because of the "selective wagon" thing? How does that apply when his other vote would hypothetically be his other partner?

i doubt scumiso would put two buddies on his scumteam
so if its cyan or eco, its probably not iso
and hes lock town if theyre both scum
but yeah. iso had this push where he wanted to lynch any of the three but didnt ever actually push gj until i called him out
i think he wanted to lynch cyan and eco over gj. he didnt even say anything as the gj wagon was initially forming

OK, that's reasonable. Could you summarise you current reads then so we know exactly where you stand?

It stood out to me that you picked GJ out as the one that Iso was "protecting" when it certainly didn't seem that way to me.
I guess it was odd that Iso didn't notice the winds shifting towards a GJ lynch, but sitting there and saying that he didn't think GJ would be lynched when GJ had a 5 man wagon on him seemed to be the type of thing that would be so silly to lie about that he was probably just derping. It also seems strange to me that Iso would be unwilling to bus a partner on Day 1 and yet willing to put him in his "I'm willing to lynch all of these players" reads; the only real thing that he would have to do in order to protect a scumpartner is say that he had a weaker read on scum and a stronger read on town and push the hell out of it; dancing around it is considerably riskier and doesn't actually reduce the chances of your scumpartner getting lynched.
I was kind of expecting to be dead, so I haven't really thought about the game at all over the night.
I'm kind of mentally browsing Cyan's ISO and I see no reason not to lynch him.
Vote: Cyan
I just finished a couple really brutal weeks of work and starting tonight I have two weeks off. Yay. As a special reward for myself I'm giving myself permission to do absolutely nothing for a couple days and that includes mafia. I'll be around, but I'm not diving into this until like, probably Sunday. If anyone has anything specific for me, ping me.
@tom, please give me, with quotes, your reasoning for Iso and GJ being connected. That is, for them possibly both knowing they are on the same scumteam in this game.
@Eco and @tom, please give me, in four sentences or less, your best overall/elevator pitch/crystalized and distilled case for why you think Voxx is potentially scum this game.
@Seppel I would like for you to pretend that I am just now entering the game, but am ready and willing to go read any particular part of it you point me towards. What part do you think I should read to catch GJ's two remaining buddies, and what would you like me to focus on while I read?

but its too much hemming and hawing about important things and jumping on the trivial
also poe and fits on a lot of teams etc etc

Is a town tell for me if anything. I don't fake conviction. I don't know the answers as town, so I don't like to pretend I do. I just kind of putter around until something small jumps out at me, and I jump at it, while gradually narrowing down the game.
I fight against the lynches on town reads, and shrug-accept the lynches on people who aren't scum.
I fought against the Vaimes lynch, I fought against the Iso lynch, and I was an early advocate for lynching GJ over them because he wasn't a town read and the other wagons were.
Like. If you're town I feel like you want me to be scum rather than actually thinking I am.
If you want to pursue this, show your work - show how I fit on a team with GJ, show how I fit on a team with other people you think could be scum. Blanket brushing it off as 'lol fits on a lot of teams' is lazy, and well. Wrong, given I'm town.

Gonna be honest, I didn't think Az and Chris were masons. I thought they were VT's (or scum) who took the wild guess Iso had to try and draw the NK's, but I was getting pretty paranoid of both of them. Glad to not have to worry about that, for a lot of reasons.
Hum.

Gentleman Johnny
Almost definitely 2 scum in Cyan > Seppel > Nacho > Eco > Tom.
I think it's most likely to be 2 in the first 3 names, though.
--
I'm town!
Azreal flipped, townfirming Sir Chris.
Newcomb counterclaimed GJ, pushed against him consistently, and has been overwhelmingly his town self.
--
Vaimes is very unlikely to be scum given the GJ flip and the way they interacted. If Cyan also flips scum he's effectively lock town.
I covered Iso yesterday, but I don't think he's scum with GJ, and I believe that he believes in the world he's selling. I don't necessarily like how he's played it, or agree with having that level of conviction and refusing to consider given future data points but I think he believes it, and therefore is town.
--
Tom is kind of shrug, and will probably be shrug all game until we either win, or he's PoE lynched. I've disagreed with almost every single read he's had, but that's not actually alignment indicative in of itself. If I had to bet the game on his alignment right this second I'd...probably say town, but I wouldn't feel great about it, unlike all the names above him.
Nacho is also pretty shrug. I think Mal fits really well onto a scum team with GJ based on how GJ treated Mal at the start of the game. There was a contrast in the quality of scum read GJ had on Mal from the quality of scum read he had on other people. It reeks of 'knowing Mal is scum'. But I liked the tone Nacho had at end of day, even if alarms kind of ping me that he's trying to appease me/pocket me. If he's scum it's probably with Cyan.
--
Eco could be scum. I think he's marginally less likely than the two below him, but I freely admit that part of that is stubbornly trying to not have the same reads as Iso, because his playstyle bothers me and I don't want him to be right. Eco coming into today and immediately voting me is terrible, though - I can absolutely see a narrative where he's running out of mislynches and feels like he needs to cling to the hope of lynching me to have any chance. The reason it's terrible is it shows literally no regard for /just having a scum flip/. I regard Eco fairly highly as a player, and I really struggle to see worlds where Town!Eco gets a scum flip, goes through looking at flipped interactions, and thinks I'm the most likely partner of GJ. That's the <redacted> that I was looking for yesterday in one of my posts. Eco's posts are generally technically good. They're fundementally sound, the rhetoric is believable, and he's concise. I'm not going to lynch him off anything he /says/, so I wanted to see how he /thinks/, and the complete lack of adjustment based on a scum flip sets off all kinds of alarms to me. It's static, in a world where information was interjected that should make reads not-static. I've seen no signs of actually thinking and trying to solve from Eco, and the razor points towards it being that he's scum trying to find any mislynches he still has.
--
I talked a lot about Seppel yesterday, but he's pretty much the only possible vote on the GJ wagon that could be a bus, and the way he did it - trying to chain lynches from GJ to me, pinged me strongly, given I know I'm town. He had one good post at the start of the game 'CONSIDER MY A GAME BROUGHT', and then proceeded to bring his D game the rest of the day. And that's being generous.
Cyan seems relatively obvious. The strange claim drop, the tunnel on someone who is very likely town, almost no interaction with the rest of the game, the lack of energy (not super indicative of alignment, admittedly). Basically he's just literally done nothing this game that makes me go 'That's town!Cyan'.
If you want to pursue this, show your work - show how I fit on a team with GJ, show how I fit on a team with other people you think could be scum. Blanket brushing it off as 'lol fits on a lot of teams' is lazy, and well. Wrong, given I'm town.
well, no
i dont really want to pursue this
like, obviously i dont have an actual case.
youve felt... off. the word i used was flat, but its not quite right.
going-through-the-motions-y
really i want to lynch cyan today and as everyone starts to talk about their PoE i want to loudly shout WHAT ABOUT VOXX AND ISO? and make people talk about you both
or, if you prefer (which you do not): vote cyan
*glares at voxx with many eyes*
*throbs poison sac at iso*
Like. There are ways for Cyan to be town. I can see Mason/Mason/Bodyguard/Bulletproof if I squint, even if I don't think Proph would have done that kind of anti-setup gaming setup in an invitational.
But he hasn't been behaviorally town, at all. There's no passion, no fire, no nothing. Coming in and dropping the counterclaim and not... drawing a conclusion from it is /weird/ more than it is scummy, but the only way I can read it is 'desperation play hoping one of the two gets town read off it'.
@Cyan
Vaimes is almost certainly town. Iso is almost certainly town.
If you're town, it's almost certain that there are two scum in Eco, Seppel, Nacho, Tom. Who are the scum in that cluster, and why?

It is now Day 2. With 10 alive, it is 6 to lynch.
The deadline is set for Monday, December 29th at 9:00 PM EST. I will probably give you guys a holiday extension or something near Christmas if you guys need it.
'Cause I'd really like him to do that.

@Chris: Did Az say anything useful overnight?

I also had a thought yesterday that Tom might decide to play a more conventional scumgame with Cyan as a scumpartner - @Tom, what do you think of this thought?
gj is dead scum
cyan/iso are the most connected to him
voxx is unconnected but seems scummy
vaimes/seppel/eco approximately equidistant in shrug/poe land
chris confirmed town
newcomb nearly confirmed
thug was very town, nacho less so
so if its cyan or eco, its probably not iso
and hes lock town if theyre both scum
but yeah. iso had this push where he wanted to lynch any of the three but didnt ever actually push gj until i called him out
i think he wanted to lynch cyan and eco over gj. he didnt even say anything as the gj wagon was initially forming

What part do you think I should read to catch GJ's two remaining buddies, and what would you like me to focus on while I read?
like, i get that he is a considerate dude.
but its too much hemming and hawing about important things and jumping on the trivial
also poe and fits on a lot of teams etc etc
re: iso
ill have to get back to you.
and really id rather lynch cyan anyway and come back to iso with that info.
Why do you think the bolded is more likely to come from scum than town?

see you guys Day 3

Why are you townreading tom?
I don't really understand that read.
Like.
I've probably already explained this, somewhere.

Almost definitely 2 scum in Cyan > Seppel > Nacho > Eco > Tom.
I think it's most likely to be 2 in the first 3 names, though.

GJ is ded scums.
i think you could be, and someone needs to talk about it.
well, no
i dont really want to pursue this
like, obviously i dont have an actual case.
youve felt... off. the word i used was flat, but its not quite right.
going-through-the-motions-y
really i want to lynch cyan today and as everyone starts to talk about their PoE i want to loudly shout WHAT ABOUT VOXX AND ISO? and make people talk about you both
or, if you prefer (which you do not):
vote cyan
*glares at voxx with many eyes*
*throbs poison sac at iso*
But he hasn't been behaviorally town, at all. There's no passion, no fire, no nothing. Coming in and dropping the counterclaim and not... drawing a conclusion from it is /weird/ more than it is scummy, but the only way I can read it is 'desperation play hoping one of the two gets town read off it'.
@Cyan
Vaimes is almost certainly town. Iso is almost certainly town.
If you're town, it's almost certain that there are two scum in Eco, Seppel, Nacho, Tom. Who are the scum in that cluster, and why?
