Welcome to the game. Here are a few rules to accommodate yourself with (passed down the line through the many hosts before me).
[0] Please copy all PMs to Gentleman Johnny.
[1] I will enforce the rules strictly, because I'm evil like that.
[2] Your vote must be in bold. You don't need to unvote before voting.
[3] If my vote count doesn't seem to reflect your vote, just revote.
[4] Once your death scene has been posted, you're dead. Dead people don't make forum posts. If you make a post after you are dead, I will hunt you down. For the record, I actually have a text file on my computer of all the people who've broken this rule in the past. I may or may not have plans for it.
[5] Post at least once every 48 hours. If you don't, I'll hunt you down. And prod you. After that you’ll be given at most another 48 hours or so before you are either replaced or modkilled. If you're going to be without computer access for more than 48 hours, let me know ahead of time either in the thread or by PM. Remember, people: if we work together we can have a replacement free game, but that can only happen with your help.
[6] No funny stuff like invisible text, tiny text, cryptography, or acronym claims.
[7] Don't edit posts.
[8] Don't quote PMs.
[9] You may not talk outside of the thread to anyone about anything that goes on in this game. Period. Whether you're dead, or they're dead, whether they're in the game or not.
[10] Have fun and be nice to the other players and me, even if we don't deserve it.
And my own rules:
[1] Feruchemy Abilities
During the start of the game, or during the night: you must pm me that you will be "filling" your metalmind. As long as you are filling, you cannot use that ability, even if you would already have a charge. At the end of the night, you will be assumed to stop charging, unless you let me know ahead of time.
Ability types can will be classified as either: Active or passive. An active ability must be used by pming me, while a passive ability won't be used unless triggered (Id est, bulletproof).
[2] Allomantic Abilities
Allomantic abilities are already filled up. Most of these abilities are considered active, and do not require a "filling" phase, but can be used immediately.
[3] Twinborn Abilities.
Twinborns have at least one of each ability. As long as they are not filling and still have a shot left, they can use both abilities in the same night. In the event of a roleblock/redirect, both abilities (if targeted) will be stopped/targeted at the same person.
Here is a handy guide for ability resolution. Ability order happens starting at the top (note, the example abilities may or may not be in the game)
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
As the day starts, you all awaken to greet the new day. Some walk off the streets, some come from the Terris Refuge just north of the main gate, while others open their eyes to a magnificent mansion. While you may come from different trades, practices, religions, and races you all have one thing in common: You posses special powers that puts you a step above the mortal men. Perseverance allowed humans to burn these metals to draw on power, or to fill wells of extreme power in order to fight against Ruin and his plot. But this was many hundreds of years ago. While full Allomancers or Feruchemists no longer exist, the lines have mixed a bit in the populations, and some special humans have access to a single power to both. Since the time of Harmony, that power has been referred to as being Twinborn.
There is discontent. No matter what generation exists on this world, poverty can never be fixed. Corruption will never be truly purified, while strife and oppression peer their ugly heads too often for some of you. There is thickness in the air. A talk of some unknown power attempting a coup against the current government. While some may welcome changes, these men and women have no noble desire for fairness. As with many leaders, their simple goal is power. Power over humans of Divinity, and power over the ability to produce Allomancers and Feruchemists. Much like the Lord Ruler's attempt to curb Feruchemists, these people will try to be the last ones standing in a world full of powered people.
Welcome to day 1. With 12 alive, it takes 7 to lynch. The deadline will be 28 days and some change from now, ending neatly at 11:59 pm on April 28th.
The town win condition is: You win when all the non-town forces are dead/incapacitated.
The scum win condition is: You win when you control the vote during the day.
For Night 1 only, I am a Paranoid Gun Owner. That means that whenever someone targets me, I'll instantly kill them in response. I can be targeted on later Nights without repercussion, but I felt that the possible damage my role could cause outweighs the chance to possibly kill scum.
I assume it is Tom's no lynch is to do with GJ's Sig.
So for a 12 player game usually means a 3 man scum team right? So if we no lynch it would be 8 townies vs 3 scum assuming no NK's other than the mafia NK.
But lynching normally yields either 7 vs 3 75% time or 8 vs 2 25% of the time, assuming no bias toward lynching a player from either team i.e. completely random lynch.
Is the 25% chance of lynching a scum worth the 75% chance of being down a townie, particularly if that townie is a PR?

I like Proph's claim. Although my Proph-is-always-scum sense triggered as of post 22 (last psot as i'm writing this) because it feels like he wanted to claim something beleiveable.
But then again, I ALWAYS think Proph is scum, so there's that.

I'm actually sad... that is my all time favorite role...
Is the 25% chance of lynching a scum worth the 75% chance of being down a townie, particularly if that townie is a PR?
The math is pretty simplistic here. For one, unless the scum is really dumb, they aren't going to target proph N1 (although they are free to call his bluff IMO). So that changes the odds a bit.
But yeah, 25%, it's worth it. We only need to be right 3 times if you're correct in scum counts. Sure D1 is sorta a dice roll, but that's no argument for not trying.

made even worse by Day 1 lynches usually being a lurker or something. like, if theres actually someone we want to lynch, sure. but that doesnt usually happen

Wait, I assumed you wanted a no lynch because of something role related. I wouldn't even consider no lynching outside of that or MyLo

That's when I bust out the PoE, and take a closer look at those who I'm reading neutrally. (And if I have 11 town reads Day 1, I'm doing something very wrong)
Well, the thing is, we have plenty of time. And plenty to talk about. So pushing no-lynch based on how we feel that somebody might not look scummy enough or because we might accidentally lynch a townie by mistake, seems premature.
I don't really feel like indulging this discussion any more since you seem to be set on discovering that next radical strat to change the mafia metagame.
It's probably null since it seems like something you would try to do as either alignment, but I'll be watching closely to see if you use it as an excuse to avoid actually playing so BE WARNED.
I like KJ the most out of you guys so far because he thinks like me. Proph might be scum actually, I feel like he'd be peppier if he was town.

I wrote that post before reading props claim, yeah props claim does change the math slightly. I'm trying to figure out in what case is a no lynch worthwhile aside from the mislynch or lose situation.

while i think no lynching is more likely to be right in this game because johnny designed it, im not exactly planning on pushing it hard.
but if we do get to a point where we dont really agree on anyone and just settle on lynching a lurking huntzilla or something ( huntz), i may start pushing it again.
id rather if someone just distinguished themselves as lynchable though. im not as serious about it as johnny is.

The added vote feels weird. I'm assuming it's rvs, but rvs votes usually come with a funny explanation. Especially after a serious post like this. Is it rvs Proph?
@Rhand: Yeah, it's RVS. The quote was a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference (which Togs loves)

Why are you more interested in doing the math to calculate the optimal chance of a no-lynch, rather than finding scum?
@GJ: Just wanted to let you know you missed an awesome opportunity to put the quotes from the beginning of each Mistborn chapter (they're about the Hero of Ages, I think? Maybe the 3rd book, which I'm halfway through, will reveal more about those) at the beginning of each votecount.
I can see a situation where jd is town and fixated himself on these calculations instead of participating in RVS. I can only see a situation where's he's a bit nervous as scum and wants to avoid RVS entirely. The fact that he completely ignored my vote on him makes him lean towards... the former, I think. I do want to see him start talking about anything that isn't no lynching tho
Admittedly, I kind of ruined RVS, but I think there is a fair amount to analyze this early in the game.
I'm just showing my work and listing out what I think about certain players. I'm kind of over naked voting people for reactions, at this stage of my mafia career.
I thought a bit about proph's claim and I'm pretty sure it makes him town. Proph is a player who always likes to go with the safe option and I don't think he'd ever fakeclaim unless he absolutely had to. Since what he's saying is probably true, it really only benefits town and doesn't benefit scum at all to claim on Day 1. Sure, he could be running a gambit, but that doesn't strike me as Proph.
@Rhand: Yeah, it's RVS. The quote was a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference (which Togs loves)

Someone was voting no lynch off the bat and they said it wasn't random, I was trying to get my head around that. Also one has done anything particularly scummy yet imo.
