Iso: Huh. I can't actually find where I last asked you that. Maybe I just remember it that way because I always think it.
Chris: Are you just dancing around with word games? Either you're scum or you're trying to play so clever you're being a town detriment anyway.
Ah yes, responding to a request to produce a reason not to be attacked in someone's first post of the game with a little bit of word play is such a detriment to town. I can feel the screams of horror from here.

I agree with Iso regarding DCIII's most recent post. It's basically a t/s list, which is kinda meaningless this early in D1, and there isn't any real, strong reasoning to support any of the entries. Also, I disagree with DC saying that Blindfaeth is the most suspicious player so far... it seems to me like he's just trying to be helpful.

"I'm a compulsive liar no matter what team I play on, but I'm trying to get better about it."
Wow, disregard my previous post. I somehow overlooked that Cantrip is claiming to have investigated Iso as a fiend. Can anyone think of how lying about that would be beneficial to Cantrip if Cantrip were scum? I can't at the moment.
I could get town-Iso lynched (or at least damaged), because I think know he's so good at this game.
Only thing I can think of benefitting scum cantrip would be if they're teammates and assume well trust the one we don't lynch all game. But it is a bold thing to claim if srs, if iso flips town we have an obvious next target amirite?
FTR, I've been down the bus route, and nothing but scumtears and heartache lie that way. But yes, I could be bussing Iso to buy towncred...but what if it backfires and I get lynched? How does that reflect on Iso?
It's hard for me to see a town motivation for Iso's opaqueness. It does make sense to me if he knows the jig is up and is just trying to be incomprehensible to confuse town/prevent himself from slipping and giving away the other fiends.
Iso, if you are town, why aren't you defending yourself more obviously?
Dante: If I may ask: what is your mafia experience? (# of games, as town, as scum, etc.)
Cantrip is obviously lying to bait for reactions, so I played along until I got bored with my self-imposed post restriction.
Holy crap! You are fighter!!! Well, technically half-right. I was baiting for reactions from everyone else; I was trying to push your post restriction.
Cantrip, is Iso correct? It seems a dangerous game to play in a world where attacks can't be taken back.
Perhaps a little, but a) town are going to be much less likely to attack because of that, and b) Iso was screaming "fighter" at the top of his lungs. I figured if anyone was actually rash enough to attack him, his HP could probably take it and we'd have a good direction to look for our first lynch target. And if Iso's scum, then he gets some beats about the head to soften him up.
Did you really take Cantrip's claim at face value? If so...why?
Yes. I believe lack of sleep from finishing school and actually getting to go to work last night played a part, but I'm generally a gullible person and that was a new trick for me. I think normal me has better odds of actually thinking out the logic and puzzle it out.
...but you've played in a fair number of games, haven't you? Reaction baiting didn't even cross your mind? I'm not sure that you're being sincere with your excuse.
Oh, and just in case my above post left any doubt: no, I did not get a pre-game investigation that I used on Iso, revealing him to be a Fiend. I was looking for reactions.

Also modgaming Bur setups is kind of treading down a dark path
I don't like seeing "it's a t/s list which is worthless D1" and "he's better than that."
When I was reading and grouping people, I realized I had more strongish town reads than I expected, so I posted my thoughts. Many of the reasons that I read people as I do early are smaller things, but if the game ever gets muddled, they're often helpful to go back and remember. If you have questions about why I was reading someone as I was, ask.
----------------------------------------
@Bur - my experience with you is that you're still getting your feet wet a bit. When we masoned together, you were pretty regularly asking me if it would be a good idea to post something because of the impact it'd have on the game. I've noticed that you're co-modding with a lot of folks, I presume to learn how to do that well and to get pointers. You seem to be cautious in that you soak up a lot of information and then run with it, which gives me the impression that you're not the kind of player to draw scum (which I don't think you've done yet, if I'm not mistaken) and then be bold enough to draw the scrutiny on yourself by proposing a mass claim so early in the game. Doesn't seem your style to me, which is why I have a town read on you.
Gentleman Johnny's reason for voting Chris was a really weak and a nitpicky type point that scum don't often make and it was hypocritical (which KA pointed out later in a devil's advocate type way, which I didn't like, because it was like he was trying to put it out there for other people to see but wasn't going to push it himself, although I'm since kind of coming around on KA via him not relenting on Chris). My experience with GJ was as scum, where he duped me until the very end when it was too late because of his claim which seemed pretty well thought out to appear too bizarre to be believable, which he added detail to later by speculating on things like what type of universe the player was from and how that might play into his claim. Basically, he wasn't careless like his approach to Chris was - which makes me think like he's not working to hide something like he was there. I think he'd be aware enough not to make such a weak point as scum.
Chemtrails's "I can't argue with that" comment felt self-conscious to me and his follow up about not reading any of those words felt like it was trying too hard to appear like he didn't care about what was going on.
Blindfaeth's #57 I didn't like because the language he uses when casting suspicion on others is tentative and non-committal. Like, I don't think mass claiming is a good idea either, but I also think that KK feels towny because of that proposal and the way he approached it. The way Blindfaeth positioned that post is off because it's not just a post to say that we shouldn't mass claim, the focus on that part of the post is on KK, highlighting that he was the one to propose the idea, but Blindfaeth doesn't take a stance on KK, saying he's unsure if he distrusts him or not, which is a fence sit. So it reads to me, like he's putting KK out there to see who else will see that this is a bad idea and think KK is scummy for it without having to draw that connection himself. If his purpose was solely just to debunk the mass claim (which is often a "good guy" move meaning it's done to look more towny), I don't think he would have focused on KK when he was talking about it, because he took no stance on KK. Basically, I think he used that post dually to try to look better by rejecting a mass claim and to try to make KK look worse without being the one to drive home that point.

On DCIII i find him townie, i admit i have zero experience playing with him but the way he is sharing content and the level of thought he is putting to it (not to mention the fact that his points are clearly setting him for a stance/opinion) makes me confident in placing him on my strongly town list.

Regarding the game, i would say we should attack Seppel because Seppel is clearly Kefka

(Actually my original answer was a simple yes but i feel kinda dickish about answering closed ended questions in such a way since that often feels aggressive which is contrary to the fun im having this game).

Weren't you a part of Mafia Championship games?
If what point do you see in telling "don't attack me, I'm vital" everyone? What are your current thoughts on the game?
Yes, I was. I'm still doing postgame commentary, in fact.
No point, just making a joke since I'm not actually that vital as far as I can tell.
I don't really have any yet. My attention is divided at the moment but I'll get into the game within a day or two (of real life days.)
I've only skimmed about half the posts, but I already want to attack Dante for the apologetic/appeasing tone he took early on. I also don't like the over-analysis of the apparent Cantripmancer gambit.
More later if I have time, or on Friday when I know I will.
@Wheat - you asked me if I've ever read you as town, which implies that I often read you as scum (and has a subtext that I'm usually wrong). What are you basing that impression on?
I'm just remembering that time where we were masons together and you thought, falsely, that I was scum. It came to mind again because you were the one most after my head.
Though now that I think about it I only remember playing one other time with you and that time I think I actually *was* scum.
Forgot to mention in that post but I'm mostly done joking around and doing nothing. Or done doing nothing, anyway. I'm going to go back and see what there is to see this afternoon.
As far as suspicion of me goes it feels odd how Iso dodged the question and left the explanation to wording but failed to elaborate.
I liked DCs analysis, it makes me feel confident he is actually scum hunting and he moves up my town list for it. He is wrong but I think his head is in the right place. I didn't intentionally throw that out there so others would run with it but I'm OK with how he drew the conclusion.
Pizza feels like pizza from the championship I observed. He was difficult to read but I think he'll offer interesting insight.. Welcome to mtgs.
I feel good about cantrip and be2 so far. I want to attack Iso or wheat tbh. Iso feels jokey too long, and I have no confidence that he was 100% certain cantrip was lying.
I'm just remembering that time where we were masons together and you thought, falsely, that I was scum. It came to mind again because you were the one most after my head.
Though now that I think about it I only remember playing one other time with you and that time I think I actually *was* scum.
I started to write up why I thought you were scum last night. Your entry into The Wall felt much more organic as did your interactions with Meg, and then when I needled you about it, you made the comment about do I ever read you as town, which felt like it was trying to discredit me as always being wrong about your alignment, which felt off because we've only played three times together, once a while ago in WWII where I town read you that I doubted you'd remember, and twice recently, both where I scum read you but once where I was right - so the reaction felt overblown based on the amount of pressure I applied (very little) and that we don't have a history of me regularly misreading you as scum. So the "here we go again" mindset seemed like it wouldn't have been tied to anything that actually happened between us and would be more tied to your alignment.
But then I remembered that when I was scum reading you in Wu Tang, it was because your stance on how easy it was for you to read Cyan felt really off considering how scummy I thought Cyan was being and how he'd just beaten you in a normal as scum, so the evidence suggested the contrary. But you didn't back down, you basically just shrugged and doubled down, saying it's how you felt.
So that made me think that maybe I was wrong and that your stance that I always scum read you really was your perception, and that you worry less about justifying your perception when you're town... which is why I asked you the question that I did, to see if you'd basically shrug and double down (which is what you did), or if you'd scramble to justify.
I don't get why people are disliking DCIII's post. Getting an overview of a lot of players is good. Posting a bunch of stances draws attention to him, not a scummy thing to do. If it was a blank T/S list without reasons I'd get it, but the reasons are right there. I think it's a town indicator.
I like Bur's post. I could see myself asking similar questions.
Iso going for first blood: weak town signal. I feel like scum!Iso would prefer to try for a killing blow.
I have third most posts in this thread? WTF.
Relm: 55%.
MisterSins: When you said Chris was at 95% anti-town, why didn't you actually attack him then and there?
Now to figure out how to exploit them. I'll think on that.
I like KK's Attack idea.
Attack re:KK
Benefit:
+We can keep track of our hp and know when a death is coming exactly, so we can choose the likely town to get the hammer bonus xp.
Consequences:
-Scum might learn info about our roles from it.
-Scum might lie about their attack to mess up our calculations (but that might make them easier to catch, so maybe +)
Speed:
Benefit:
+We can judge where people will fire relative to everyone else, at least N1. Specifically, docs and cops and the like will be able to make better decisions as to when they will fire.
Consequences:
-Would not benefit the town directly, only indirectly.
-Scum might lie, messing up calculations.
HP:
Benefit:
+Late game, we can do some maths and figure out how much damage was done to a person, then if their HP is less than the amount of damage, we catch scum in a lie.
Consequences:
-Without claiming this, scum could potentially try to attack someone on the assumption that they might die, but then they don't. With this claim, scum would know who not to attack, or maybe who to attack more.
Claiming what we leveled up:
Benefit:
+Kind of a mismash of all the other benefits if we assume all people start at our personal values.
Consequences:
-Scum might learn info about our roles from it.
-Scum might lie about their attack to mess up our calculations (but that might make them easier to catch, so maybe +)
Others I see no benefit to claiming.
If I missed any benefits or Consequences, let me know.
I also dislike DCIII's big post.
Although I also dislike hans' assessment of DCIII's post.
HP hasn't done much, but I remember that being a thing she does early game.
Pizza claims to have been hit with Delay Attack. This is interesting if true, because not a lot of people in this game know him. Only one of those people are likely to target him. (Unless this means he just doesn't have time to read. That could be a thing too)
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
@DCIII: I had to retype that post 3 times before it submitted, but I definitely read the post immediately before my attack AFTER attacking. The only reason I would have changed my mind about attacking you is if I had read Faeth's post on this page; I definitely would have hit him, instead.
On that note, everyone should maul Faeth, now.
Not sure if I should be sorry or not, yet, DCIII. We'll see.

Hey that's cool and all but you are totally wrong, if you find it awkward then thats your bias but thats cool, i still love you XD.
This is most definitely you and im willing to attack you based solely on that, hurray for first Fiend found
Fun fact if you are undead a zombiestrike weapon should have caused you to die, a more accurate description would have been to subject yourself to poison since that heals you, too bad im out of Phoenix Downs...
1) Why did you see necessary to highlight Iso's crumbs?
2) Why do you want us to class claim (not to mention full massclaim)? What benefits do see in it?
Why do you find BF suspicious?
I strongly dislike this post. DCIII is a good player and can do better than this.
Also, elaborate on the bolded parts, please. Why those reasons I bolded are giving you those reads. And why you want to attack BF.
Why? All I see is Sepi being random herself.
What part of it do you actually like?
Weren't you a part of Mafia Championship games?
If what point do you see in telling "don't attack me, I'm vital" everyone? What are your current thoughts on the game?
-----------------------------------------
I don't like seeing "it's a t/s list which is worthless D1" and "he's better than that."

@Bur: The way post #100 was worded rubbed me the wrong way for a number of reasons.
@Cantrip: It was in response to HookerPunch.
Speaking of,
@HookerPunch: Please link me to one of your scum games not on this site. Thanks.
In the meantime, I slept on ot, and I'm gonna Attack DCIII.
YOUR MOVE, KAIBA.

Why focus on your disagreement with me, specifically, surrounding Blindfaeth? There is reasoning behind all of my entries - if you wanted more detail, why not ask?

(Actually my original answer was a simple yes but i feel kinda dickish about answering closed ended questions in such a way since that often feels aggressive which is contrary to the fun im having this game).
Yes, I was. I'm still doing postgame commentary, in fact.
No point, just making a joke since I'm not actually that vital as far as I can tell.
I don't really have any yet. My attention is divided at the moment but I'll get into the game within a day or two (of real life days.)
I've been hit by Delay Attack. I'll be more content heavy soon.
If this post turns out to be a lie, kill me with great prejudice.
Just need a little bit more IRL time, mmkay?

I've only skimmed about half the posts, but I already want to attack Dante for the apologetic/appeasing tone he took early on. I also don't like the over-analysis of the apparent Cantripmancer gambit.
More later if I have time, or on Friday when I know I will.
I'm just remembering that time where we were masons together and you thought, falsely, that I was scum. It came to mind again because you were the one most after my head.
Though now that I think about it I only remember playing one other time with you and that time I think I actually *was* scum.
This is why I told you that relaxing the 18 player cap is a bad idea.
I'm okay with Wheat.

Not sure if I should be sorry or not, yet, DCIII. We'll see.

@pizza: That's fine. Just know I'm picking up what you're putting down.
-
@Killjoy: I think pizza is saying he's busy IRL, which is what I got out of the context of his post.

Why what?
And ok on Pizza. That's kinda what I figured, but I thought there was a Delay Attack or something in Final Fantasy for some reason.
I am a big fan of Final Fantasy X, so I will make lots of references to that.
I will make it clear whether my references are actually game-related.
No attacks on me have been made, I am just busy the next 12 hours.
And then I'm going to be dead tired and need a nap. I need an item that cures Sleep status.
High likelihood a villager made that post.
I am honored.
I actually think I am reading differently from the champs game in style and tone. What are you seeing that is similar?
