Welcome to Porcelain Waltz, a Mini for 9 players reviewed by Iso and Cyan. Some rules to begin with—
All MTGS Mafia rules apply.
I reserve the right to change any rule that isn't an MTGS rule.
Don't post when you're dead. Not even a "bah" post. The dead can't talk.
Don't communicate to anyone about the game outside the confines of the game, whether you're alive or dead.
Don't reference the goings-on of ongoing games.
Don't threaten to replace yourself or be modkilled.
Don't edit or delete your posts (or others', if you've been blessed with that power). This includes posts in a QT chat.
Don't thank posts.
Don't discuss my formatting unless I explicitly allow it.
Don't crypto-claim or use other crypto-text.
Don't quote anything game-related from outside the game thread unless I've given explicit permission to do so. This includes role PMs and QT chats. Please,
don't quote your role PM, borderline quote your role PM, or do anything that could be construed as quoting your role PM. You may loosely paraphrase a quote, but when in doubt, ask me if a paraphrasing is acceptable.
In general, when in doubt, please ask me. I love answering questions, and I may not tolerate ignorance of a question you didn't ask.
If you ask a question in the game thread that pertains specifically to you, in whole or in part, I may not answer it in the game thread but will answer it in a PM.
Put anything that needs to be read by a mod in bold text at the beginning of a line; preferably on its own line. This includes votes and requests.
You don't need to unvote in order to revote, but it would help. Vote Y while voting X is assumed to be shorthand for Unvote X, Vote Y.
Players cannot vote for themselves. A vote for yourself will be ignored, but if revoting from another player the unvote will still count.
A player is lynched when their lynch threshold has been reached (typically a majority of living players). Twilight begins at that moment and lasts until I say that Night has begun, even if I don't say that it's Twilight. You may post during Twilight but not a moment after—please make sure Night hasn't begun when you post during Twilight.
You may vote for no lynch instead of voting for a player. When the majority of players do so, Twilight will fall as normal and the Day will end without a lynch.
If you're going to be V/LA for more than 72 hours, tell me what dates you'll be V/LA from and till in the game thread if it's Day (if it's Night, PM me instead).
You are required to make at least one post every 72 hours. If you go 72 hours without a post, any player may request a prod in-thread and I'll do so. If you go 120 hours without a post, I'll prod you automatically. See new rule here.
At the beginning of each Day, I'll set a deadline equal to [No. of Living Players] + [Day 1 Lynch Threshold]. I reserve to right to move that deadline up or back in time -- time will typically be added for replacements, major holidays, and major MTG-related events when applicable.
If the deadline is reached without a majority lynch, the player with the most votes will be lynched if and only if there's no tie for most. Otherwise, the Day ends with no lynch.
At the beginning of each Night, I will set a strict deadline for the end of that Night, typically 72 hours from the end of the Day, possibly rounded to the top of the next hour or the next day. All Night actions must be submitted by that deadline, even if I haven't started the next Day yet. Night chats, however, can continue until I start the next Day.
Force-replacement and modkills will be handled on a case-by-case basis. However, this is not license to break the rules. Flagrantly breaking a rule, repeatedly breaking rules, or breaking a major rule will be punished by either force-replacement or being modkilled. See new rule here.
Play nice and have fun
I use the following resolution order for Night actions:
Actions that occur at the beginning of Night
Gaining actions
Losing actions
Becoming untargetable
Blocking redirection
Redirection
Blocking blocks
Blocking other actions
Protection
Item & message actions
Miscellany
Killing & other deaths
Recruiting
Information gathering
Actions that occur at the end of Night
All actions within the same step resolve simultaneously if possible, and will never resolve on timestamp order.
The town win condition is "you win when the mafia has been eliminated."
The mafia win condition is "you win when the mafia controls the vote."
On occasion, a Doll may join the game. There are two kinds of Dolls:
Figurines are beautiful human likenesses cast in bisque porcelain. They count as players for all intents and purposes—they can vote, they can be voted, and they count toward the lynch threshold.
Poppets are simple playthings sewn together from roughspun fabrics. They count as players, but can't vote, can't be voted, and don't count toward the lynch threshold.
Alive:
fulcrum (Human)
Lain Iwakura (h. Prophylaxis & Taredas) (Human)
7hawk77 (Human)
SelesnyaNewLife (Human)
Burning_Earth (Human) *
hansanator Doll (Figurine) **
Kosakosa Doll (Figurine) *
kpaca Doll (Poppet) *
Dead:
Killjoy (Human Town Hostess), Lynched Day 1
hansanator (Human Town Pediophobe), Killed Night 1
Ah. Hello again. It seems it's time for Day 1 to start, and I've been caught unawares. Flavor? I'm afraid today's as flavorless as the tea I'm holding—which is to say entirely flavorless, since there isn't a drop of tea in this pot. Do what your lot usually does, I suppose (this "scumhunting" business is quite beyond me). Cheers, and the best of luck to all.
Day 1 has begun!—with 9 alive, it's 5 to lynch. A deadline has been set for May 9th, 11:59 PM EDT. And yes, good luck!

KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

While I'm sure the doll mechanic is new and innovative and Gives Something For The Players To Talk About (one of the cardinal rules of specialty-level design), I would prefer to ignore them unless something crops up that uses the dolls in some manner or a Figurine shows up. This one appears to have a posting restriction, which won't really make it all that helpful.
My thoughts on the Dolls are figure them out while they have no teeth. If we wait till one can vote, then we're gonna be trying to figure it out AND work out it's alignment in tandem. It's just easier to see if we can't hash it out now while it can't vote.
Lets take a vote... Everyone who wants to figure out the dolls now vote yea, opposed vote nay.
If the majority say nay I'll lay off it for now. But till then.. I wanna figure this out.

I don't like how Killjoy wants to focus solely on the doll, especially one that can't even vote. While I agree that we should figure out the extent of what these things can do, it shouldn't overshadow hunting scum.
/vote Killjoy
What was there to hunt at that point? It was RVS and noone had posted anything that looked suspicious, except MAYBE Lain, but given his boner for reaction baiting... it's null. Don't worry... it hasn't stopped my scumhunting.

How is voting someone "for being the first to post" any way serious?
@killjoy
Stating that we're town wasn't a reaction test. It was me expressing my joy of being town after the disaster which was Dark Age of the Law (sorry SSK :embarrass:)

Unvote, Vote Lain
No vote in the RVS? Attacking me based on weak evidence? Cool. Lets do this.
I was referring to your plan for the game going forward, not the current situation. You seem to want to guide this game in the direction of making the doll toDay's main focus.
The doll already said that it's here to "contribute", which seems to be all we're going to get out of it in regards to its purpose. All we can really do is play the game normally and decide for ourselves what its agenda is.
Firstly, my logic is fairly clear on the subject as to why I think it's a viable way to go toDay, at least in the beginning. If the Figurines are player controlled, and the person behind it happens to be scum, I'd prefer to have as much knowledge about them as possible, so they can't use our ignorance against us.
Secondly, GD posted that after my last post. I acknowledge that GD is likely not a harming influence here. He seems to not be, at any rate. And just because a task is difficult doesn't mean we shouldn't at least TRY.

@Lain:Also, while I'm thinking about it, if you were expressing joy at being town, I'd expect that joy to come out in your hydra qt. Why did you extend it to the have thread, and why did you forgo an rvs vote to do it?
@fulcrum: Reasons? Also, idk if you noticed but it's 5 votes to lynch. Be careful with that vote.

The fulcrum quote was because, in this game size, it's easy to forget the reduced lynch threshold. I wanted to make sure it was her intent to put me to l-2.
And I think the reason we do l-2 is to avoid accidental quick hammers, btw. Someone could vote without reading and that might result in two possible mislynches.

My girlfriend said the same... she was obvscum, but I only noticed after the game was over. Tough times.
So let's save time right?
Oooh idea! Everyone who's not town please raise their hands. Then we can lynch you and win.
Because Taredas.
See how you like that.
Remember, Poppets count as players, but can't vote, can't be voted, and don't count toward the lynch threshold.
