Void was fine but he said he was good with a FIGHTING or Idle lynch so I was hoping he'd hustle in there.
My vote surely escalated things but I was dead sure and I really thought that my play throughout was clear town enough that it couldn't be turned on me. Also, that Rez vote was the backbreaker. Idle and myself were voting FIGHTING and Void had checked in and not hammered. So Rez knew that scum couldn't quick hammer FIGHTING.
had dc3 not voted for fighting right off the bat, we probably wouldve had another day. Fightings post along with idles that i quoted made me think dc3+idle instead of fighting+idle. I probably should've put more thought into fighting bussing the **** out of cythare.
Can you tell me what I presented that you didn't find convincing? I got next to no interaction out of you.
I thought I called out how FIGHTINGs momentum on Cythare changed after my push several times.
I had two hammers in my first scum win, my only win. 2 out of 6, though did have a practical 3rd one as a town player claimed he would self hammer in a certain spot just to prove himself town and me scum. I voted he hammered.
And now I know what it feels like to be on the opposite sides dead chat watching a whole game sink. Game in question is here. Some similarities in the endgame Day.
I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
I guess in retrospect I could have pushed for Idle today, which would have gotten Void and Rez on board... but, unfortunately, I didn't trust FIGHTING to get lynched without me in the game.
Sigh. Read the scum chat, dagger.
I'm really shocked that I was the lynch today because I did think I was easily the towniest player left in the game and that I'd have to be NKed as I wouldn't be lynched.
lol. DCIII was the townest of town members this game. I got caught up because of one thing he posted that sent up red flags with him and the small amount of time was enough for Idle to come in snatch the win.
Either way this was a great game to play in and great flavor as well, EtR!

Once you claimed the delay of Idle you kind of went MIA. I think posting more content and working to put pressure on more players would be beneficial. I wanted to lynch FIGHTING over you, but the way you clammed up had me paranoid over what you were up to.
It's like you dropped the grenade into the room and then walked away letting us deal with it, haha.
I can see what you mean there, DCIII. But if I did happen to do something that would have made a mess, you shouldn't be afraid of pointing out who made it in the first place.
At least that is how I would handle it.
But yeah, didn't have much going on then. Kind of getting burned out from a game where I was being called "Scum! Scum!" as town. Even watching people derp about the fact I had a claimed delayed kill ability used on me and still wanting to lynch me even though it wouldn't amount to anything.

Not sure I follow your point about being afraid to point something out.
I thought that your initial claim of delaying Idle had to come from town... but once you claimed that, it was like you took your foot off of the pedal and didn't follow through or drive any additional pressure anywhere else. You didn't even vote him, I don't believe, and just weren't being that active in the game otherwise.
So, by D4, once it was determined that I was role blocked, there was still a lot of doubt that there were two scum members left. If it was JUST one person left, then it made most sense for it to be you since you claimed the delay... but I still thought it was FIGHTING and Idle at that point.
I think you're probably taking on too many games at one time, and that is likely causing you to appear more scummy or keeping you from being quite as involved in solving the game.
Balancing this one and my other was hard enough on me at times.
"It has to have been you, FIGHTING. You're behind this." DCIII was not willing to pull any punches. There was no reason to anymore. "It was you and Idle Muse and I can prove it!"
"He's right!" Idle agreed. "Well, about the FIGHTING part anyway. You guys have to know that I couldn't have done it. I've been by your side since the beginning! It was FIGHTING and Rezombied... or maybe Void."
"There's no way. Look at the facts. I would basically have to be two people to make this happen." The icy smoothness emitting from FIGHTING was enough to convince at least Rezombied.
"Enough! We need to think this through! We've lost too much already to rush forward with any more hasty decisions!" Void looked at each member of the crew in turn, trying his damnedest to maintain order.
"Nope." The coordinated strike from FIGHTING and Idle was quicker than the others were capable of reacting to. It was then that they realized that the end had been upon them since the beginning. "Planet Express is ours now."
It wasn't long before Void, Rezombied and DCIII were tied up and on their knees in front of FIGHTING and Idle Muse. "You see, if you had just gone peacefully, you'd still have jobs...You'd still have your lives." Idle was leading the conversation. "All we wanted was the business. It would have served MomCorp so well. We planned on using it to have our robots built with cheaper labor on one of the lesser developed planets and shipping them back to the factory here in order to increase profit margins, but you just couldn't stay out of the way."
"MomCorp would have increased it's margins by a minimum of 3% worldwide. And 3% of a lot of money is a lot more money." FIGHTING continued on, "Smitty and I would have run security for the company, Scruffy there would be the owner of Planet Express as a shell corporation and Mom would have continued to run the whole thing."
"But you just couldn't stay out of the way." The first shot ran through DCIII. "Could you?"
With an understanding that their fates were unavoidable, Rezombied and Void hung their heads. "All of this...just for money?"
"Money makes the world go 'round, Void." FIGHTING shot Void in the shoulder. "Damn, that's gotta sting."
The next shot rang out and bounced off of Rezombied. "Huh, you are bulletproof. Idle, unplug him."
The light left Rezombied's eyes. "Let's start putting all these bodies in the ship. We can dump them somewhere on the way to Vinci." Idle motioned to the back of the Planet Express ship. "And don't get any blood or oil on the carpet."
"Void isn't dead yet though."
"He will be, soon enough."
___________
The walls of Planet Express were rebuilt. The new name on the building was Mom's Express Shipping (A MomCorp Corporation).
FIGHTING took over as the new owner and CEO of MomCorp as it had been willed to him by Mom. Apparently the two had been married in a secret ceremony a few years prior. Mom's three children, Igner, Larry and Walt, were never heard from again.
Smitty and URL were installed as Co-Heads of Security. This was mainly a job in title only as the robots that were built were pretty capable of taking care of this themselves. In a clever side project, the two struck a bargain with the New New York mayor's office that would see MomCorp supply the city with Peace Keeping officers throughout the end of the next century. It was quite a lucrative deal that saw them make millions on their own.
While the fall of Planet Express was quick, there was a certain...tragedy to it. Two separate generations were destroyed. Several species were gone. It was the destruction of hard work and the entrepreneurial spirit.
In the end, it was the end of the 21st century.
__________
The Hostile Takeover has ended. The Mafia has won.
Congratulations to FIGHTING, Idle Muse and Cythare.
You are Smitty and URL, the only police officers in New New York City. That’s right. The only ones. You can do whatever you want from police brutality to accepting bribes, murder to arson.
With that knowledge you approached Mom with the offer of becoming her personal security. She accepted and let you in on her plans for the hostile takeover of Planet Express. Excited with the opportunity to be richer than you can imagine you go along with the plan.
Once this is done you’ll be collecting quite a paycheck from Mom and you’ll be able to fill out the fill out the police department with specially designed robots made for law enforcement. They just may or may not be programmed to look the other way when it comes to You, Mom and Scruffy.

Scruffy the Mafia Killer.
You are the Janitor at Planet Express and you were hired by Professor Farnsworth many years ago. All the regular Planet Express Crew have so little to do with you that they can’t even remember your name when you interact with them and it makes you sick. How could they forget such a genius?
You’ll have the last laugh though. Through the years you’ve managed to acquire more than 40,000 shares of Planet Express stock. With the help of Mom and “Smitty and URL” you need to eliminate all the members of the Town so you can use your majority share of stock to put yourself in charge of Planet Express. Once that’s accomplished you can sell the company to Mom and just collect a paycheck for being a figure head. And with Smitty and URL as your new personal security, how can you lose?

1 Shot Ninja Kill (Unwatchable/untrackable)
These do not count as an additional kill for the team, they replace the standard kill

You’ve come to discover that Scruffy the janitor at Planet Express is the majority share holder of the company. Together with his help and the help of Smitty and Url you will eliminate all those that stand in your way, install Scruffy as the figurehead of Planet Express, and acquire the company to add to your already sizable portfolio.

TOWN
Professor Farnsworth, Town Delivery Assigner and Doctor
At 172 years old you have seen some stuff. You’re also a little bit crazy, a little bit brilliant and a whole lot of honorary Globetrotter. As the owner and CEO of Planet Express you are in charge of the day to day operations. Or at least, you were. Now you have a whole crew that supports you and you just tell them where to deliver things.
Born in a prison you have lived a fruitful life but you are not willing to give it up yet. With the rumblings of a takeover popping up here and there you have doubled down on making Planet Express a profitable and reliable company. By any means necessary.
Leela: Remember, Professor, Bender is Santa. So we don't need to hurt him, right? Professor Farnsworth: Yes, yes, yes. You sound like a broken MP3! [Bender lands in the fireplace...] Bender: Ho, ho- [...and gets shot by the Professor.] Ow! Leela: Professor! Don't you remember what I told you?! Professor Farnsworth: No!!!
Abilities:
Doctor: Each night you may PM me the name of a player. That player will be saved from any attempted kills by some invention.
Delivery Assigner: Each night you may PM me the name of a planet listed below. You know that each planet corresponds with a player, but you don’t know which. That player will steal the shipment intended for that planet. (They will be given a random one shot ability)
You cannot deliver to yourself but you may use the delivery and the doctor abilities in the same night.

Lord Nibbler of the ancient race, the Nibblonians, was born in 274 BC. You’ve lived all over the Universe and done many things, but as of late, you’ve chosen to just act as a pet for Leela and be part of the Planet Express crew.
Honestly, none of that matters right now. You’ve heard rumblings that someone is planning on a hostile takeover of Planet Express and you intend to put an end to it.
“He must be controlling them with some sort of hypercuteness. Well, two can play at that game, and one of them is me.” –Nibbler

Philip J. Fry, Town Limited Back Up
There is so much that can be said about Philip J Fry. Let’s see here…You came from the year 2000 after being frozen in a cryogen machine for 1,000 years. Originally it was believed that you just tripped into the machine, but it is later revealed that you were pushed in by Nibbler. You were a delivery boy (the pizza variety) in the year 2000 and you are the Executive Delivery boy at Planet Express, so I guess that’s an upgrade.
While you appear to be quite a dolt, you do occasionally come up with some brilliant plans and since you lack the Delta brainwave you are actually immune to telepathy. I think that’s a good thing.
Recently, you have come upon some information that there are some folks scheming to take over Planet Express. And you can’t let that happen. It’s your many-times-over great grandson’s company and you hope to run it one day when he passes on. You better get to work. There’s a lot of figuring out things to do.
Fry: Hey, I'm beginning to think you guys don't think I'm very smart. Professor Farnsworth: You can barely remember your own name, Einstein. Fry: Einstein is a hard name to remember!
Abilities:
You are a limited back up. You don’t know for who and you don’t know for what, but you do know that if a particular player dies you will take over their role.

Bender Bending Rodriguez, Town Bulletproof Robot
Bender Bending Rodriguez is the Assistant Manager of Sales at Planet Express. Born in Tijuana Mexico, he is a crude, smug robot not known for his compassion or sensitivity. He has no problem committing crimes to get what he wants.
Through his relationship with Countess de la Roca he has been able to find out that there is a take over of Planet Express being planned. He might hate having to work but at the end of the day he loves the people he works with (and the cover having a job provides to go to random planets to loot and steal things.) Bender will do whatever it takes to prevent this take over from happening.

You’ve come to love earth as it has provided you a lot of personal freedom. Freedoms that you didn’t have on Decapod 10 and you’ll do whatever it takes to not return there. Through your daily routine you’ve heard that there are those planning on taking over Planet Express and you will destroy them. If you don’t bungle it and get killed first that is.
Zoidberg: “Fry, it's been years since medical school, so remind me. Disemboweling in your species: fatal, or non-fatal?”

Frankly, without your human horn and sitcoms you wouldn’t be able to put up with Ndnd’s constant nagging any longer.
You’ve heard rumors of a hostile takeover of Planet Express and this simply won’t do. They have been shipping you human horn for the last few months, ever since you reached that deal with that human…whatever his name was.

Robot Santa, Vanilla Town
Robot Santa was originally designed by Mom’s Friendly Robot Company in 2801 to judge the Naughty/Nice quotient of children across the globe. Unfortunately, due to a programming error, for almost 200 years you have judged everyone as naughty and Christmas Eve became a night of terror.
Recently, however, you’ve heard of a plot to takeover Planet Express and that simply won’t do. The Planet Express crew helped you get back your naughty list when it was taken by the Nudist Alien Scammers, so you owe them a debt. And as soon as you’ve removed all the threats to Planet Express, you’ll be able to start planning this year’s murder spree.
Robot Santa: Ho... ho... ho. Oh, my heart's not in it. I'm too depressed for murder and mayhem. Amy: Aw, try some antidepressants. They're gummy. Fry: What happened, Santa? Robot Santa: The scammers cheated me out of my naughty list to use for telemarketing. Can you imagine the harm they could do with that information? I wanted to do that harm!
Errors
1. As you guys have noticed if you read the spectator chat, TK-421 should have been able to win with the town. I messed up the the town win condition. My apologies to TK for that
2. There was some confusion on the player that was selected to be the night kill on Night 3. FIGHTING's intention was that it was processed as a Shockwave Kill and I processed it by iRebel. Fortunately (depending on which side you were on) Shockwave had delayed this kill and I had time to correct the error without any additional impact to the game. I know that FIGHTING was regretting saying anything when Shockwave ended up as the lynch for the day but the scum team handled my error flawlessly and I appreciate it.
3. I didn't provide the scum team with full safe claims as I'm not really a fan of hand holding to that degree past a basic/normal. I did provide them with safe names, planets and species. Again, a slight error here that I was able to catch before there was any damage. If they had used their fake planets, iRebel would have been able to find out all three scum due to Rebel having the list of Planets. I let the scum team know that it was safe to claim their home planet.
Lessons learned from the above:
The Devil's in the Details.
The 1st and 3rd issue were easily avoidable but I overlooked them. In TK's case, this probably contributed to his lynch which is something I really regret. The false planet claim was rectified before it did any damage, but as a player, it could undermine your confidence in your mod.
For the 2nd issue - From now on I will be insisting on a consolidated, clear and confirmed night actions list.
_______
What else, what else:
Two Docs?
First note on the two docs issue - AI didn't notice it during review and that was most likely due to the way that I had it laid out in the review chat.
I think to understand why I had two docs I need to discuss how the game came to be. I'm a pretty big Futurama fan and I've always found Morbo interesting. He hates humans but he's a news broadcaster. Such a conundrum. I got to thinking that it probably infuriates him to be there. From there I made the game with Morbo as a Serial Killer, but in order to accommodate a Serial Killer and a Mafia in a mini I would have had to have a bunch of protective roles so the game didn't end on Day 3.
Well we dialed back Morbo to a 2 shot hit man, but I was still nervous about the amount of potential killing power so I left the Mafia and Town Docs in there. That plus a delayer and a Bulletproof is a lot of protective power, but it all seemed to jive pretty well here.
Of course from Cythare's perspective it didn't jive at all. Going hand in hand with the fact that I didn't provide safe claims to the mafia, I did tell them as a hint that they should not claim their role. This was for two reasons: 1. Idle and FIGHTING had extremely scummy roles and 2. I knew that Cythare would be immediately counterclaimed.
I regret that this exact thing happened, but I don't know that I agree that there shouldn't be two docs in one game. I believe that Mafia should be able to protect each other outside of a roleblocker and shouldn't be limited to what they can have based on what the town has. I'm sure there are going to be other opinions, which I welcome. Maybe I'm wrong.
Using more than one ability at night?
For this game it was something that felt natural. None of the abilities were truly oppresive (Shockwave's delayer could get out of hand for sure since it couldn't be blocked). When combining them with any of the one shots available and/or the mafia kill, I didn't think that it would be damaging to the game. Based on the way it played out I hope that you agree.
The Poison Kill didn't line up with the delay timeframe
This was a good point that FIGHTING brought up via PM. Why is the time frame on the poison kill different than the delay Shockwave had? It was intentional, but looking back it was inelegant. I didn't want anyone to be able to doctor the poison kill, so having it trigger during the next day's lynch felt like the best way to avoid this. Looking back, I should have just made the Poison kill undoctorable and had the two triggers match.
Play
As discussed in the spectator chat, TK claiming hit-man may have been a mistake, but he did so based on the fact that he thought he could win with the town. I think the better claim regardless of win-con issues would have been 2-shot Vig.
DCIII is a strong player that I've enjoyed watching in both my games. His reads are really good and his ability to read through the crap and analyze the game state is amazingly good for as new as he is.
Void played a super town game this game. I don't think that I would have doubted his town status for a minute if I were in this game. Also, Void absolutely made the right play at the end of the game. Quick votes in Lylo never end well for the town. For another example see Avatar the Last Airbender. Iso and I got into a fight because I was dumb. We both voted each other and the scum team swooped in and quick lynched.
Guardman and Shockwave both picked Idle to Track/Delay N1. This says two things, in my opinion: First, Guardman and Shock's instincts were spot on. Unfortunately, Idle used his Ninja Kill so even if he wasn't delayed Guard wouldn't have seen it. The second point is even being under that much suspicion Night 1 and coming into Day 2 having both those guys looking at him, Idle was able to squirm and WIFOM his way to End game. That was pretty impressive.
FIGHTING was another impressive player to watch. He did an excellent job of puzzling through the game state each night and making good choices.
Town MVP: This is super tough because there was definitely some good play from several people, but I'm going to give this to DCIII. I look forward to seeing him play as scum.
Scum MVP: Again I'm going to call this one very close. For Idle Muse to squirm and WIFOM out of his situation for 4 days was impressive, but in the end, FIGHTINGS ability to correctly interpret the game state and make the right decisions gets him the MVP.
I hope everyone had a great time playing and I appreciate the kind words.
After a bit of thought, I think this setup was reasonably scum-sided, but the multiple doctors existing (which I was the first to point out) actually served as a bit of a counterbalance.
Entertaining to watch, but the town probably should've won if things were executed correctly. All the same, well played by the scum team.
As noted in SpecChat, I felt safe in making my claim because I hadn't realized the rules specifically mentioned only town could win as town. I had intended to make myself look just valuable enough to make it to Night 2 where I could hopefully kill a second human and just win by myself. If I failed that, I thought I became a survivor who could win as part of the town, so I could claim to be in the town's best interest to keep alive (I help add a vote to keep the mafia from controlling it).

DCIII, you were very impressive. I rolecopped you N2 because I wanted to know if it was worth shooting you.
I said something to the effect of "DCIII is my favorite kind of townie: Very good, but very wrong."
Of course, "very wrong" doesn't last forever.
Well I really appreciate that. This was my third/fourth game (another started around the same time that's currently ongoing). I was just happy that I could at least hold my own against a few of the site's better players.
My biggest regret this game after thinking about it is not actually pulling those quotes from you around the time we were pressuring Cythare and I speculated on the two of you gambiting and you shifted gears. I referenced them many times, but I think I took for granted that some either knew what I was talking about or were going to go back and reference what I was talking about. Should have just quoted the posts and really driven that point home.
You were very good, though, as it wasn't until Day 3 that I really started to look at you and your case to convince Rez Today was very convincing if you didn't read the fine print.
I need to learn to follow my instincts more. Having Megs/FIGHTING as a such a null read should have been the red flag that sealed the deal for me.
I'm a little surprised to see 3 Scum in total considering the Neutral. And with that I agree with Dan that the Scum team had more power than the Town, but, in the end, the Town still had a great chance to win. Oh well.
Good job to Megs and DCIII for the MVP awards. You both deserved them.

Well, you have 3 legitimate PRs (although the mafia doc in this setup, while able to backfire, is a huge boon for the scum because of the hitman and volatile nature of Farnsworth) on the scum side as well as hitman/survivor, both of which are worse for the town than the scum (especially considering the doc).
Compare this to two very minor PRs (backup, delayer) and you see that a huge part of the town power is condensed into two roles: the tracker (borderline cop in this setup) and Farnsworth. Bulletproof will rarely come into play, the backup doesn't know what he's backing up (more often than not, the best part of being a backup is the setup information that comes with the role), and delayers can be a detriment as often as they are a boon to their team.

That actually makes a lot of sense Dan, thank you.
My take is that it was do able if the TK role could have won with town. Basically having to lynch 4 times correctly was going to be difficult, especially with the potential for TK escalating the game along.
If the town win condition was mafia instead of non-town (which I understand was a mistake), then the town could have dictated TK's shot and, if he missed, let him just place his vote with the majority.
I think it would have been more achievable with that. That being said, it was there for the taking for Town, so no complaints.
I think the idea that two docs is viewed as an automatic trap for the mafia is interesting as well. Makes me think there should be a few more designed games out there with the same role (two town vigs, for example), etc.

I like the idea as a whole. I think it places more emphasis on behavioral analysis instead of roles letting people skate by.

While it does have that benefit it typically doesn't go down that way. From my experience it comes down to who claims first followed by a CC depending on whether the Scum want to take advantage of the situation or not and vise versa.
Ah, this one stings.

lol. DCIII was the townest of town members this game. I got caught up because of one thing he posted that sent up red flags with him and the small amount of time was enough for Idle to come in snatch the win.
Either way this was a great game to play in and great flavor as well, EtR!

That's just my two cents.

MAFIA

You’ve always been evil, so this is nothing new for you. Your next target? Planet Express.

Errors

I said something to the effect of "DCIII is my favorite kind of townie: Very good, but very wrong."
Of course, "very wrong" doesn't last forever.

You got it buddy!
Since I'm still new to designing games, I'd love to understand why you guys feel that the scum were slightly stonger.

This occurs more often than you think on this site.
