I'd be tentatively interested in assisting Taredas with Mind Screw Mafia. I have lots of flavor writing skills, some mafia design skills, and plenty of willingness.
I may also work on a lone wolf submission (or ask for help on my own idea).
Cantripmancer has joined the Mind Screw Salvation design team as a second setup man/flavor specialist.
Still happy to take on somebody in a reviewer-esque role for any setup (though if you want to join Mind Screw Salvation I recommend modding experience) or in a predominantly flavor role for Majora's Mask or Iterated.
Also, after thinking it over... this contest needs a joke submission, right? (This is an actual entry...)

Pirates vs. Ninjas Mafia: Bad Idea Edition
"Avast, ye swabs! We be havin' a problem here.
Last night, midst th' carousin' and partyin', ye first mate Ishmael went abovedecks. His mates, they did nae see him in the hammock this morn'. That would be because we found him by the wheel w' THIS in he back!
Yea, mateys! That be a katana! There be some of we ancient ninja enemies aboard!
Some landlubbers would say, "well, ye have ninjas aboard, why don't ye round everyone up and choose men to hang from the mast until tha ninjas be dead?" Pshaw! We be civilized pirates here, mateys! We know what to do! Ninjas, they most oft not have pistols! Men, draw ye flintlocks, and shoot until those ninja curs be sent to Davy Jones's locker! ARRRR!"
This setup probably shouldn't win the Throwdown. This setup is almost certainly very, very stupid. This game is most certainly, in almost every sense, a Bad Idea.
But then again... haven't you ever wanted to see what would happen if you grabbed the MTGS playerbase, took away their votes, and handed out guns?
If anyone enjoys writing flavor and has a creative side to them, shoot me a PM. I have complete setups, but they're bare-bones. Think Checks and Balances. I have extensive design and modding experience, but my games tend to be: "Yep. Someone died overnight. Bummer. Day Three Begins!"
That kind of anti-flavor is fun once in a while, but doesn't allow the players to be truly immersed in the game, either.
#1 Puella Magi Mafia.
Flavour: Here.
Manifesto: Heavily flavour-based. Has two unkillable and unlynchable neutrals. Go wild - balance is probably not really achievable.
#2 Apprentice Mafia
Flavour: Here
Manifesto: Original flavour, fantasy-ish setting. Semi-open setup - all rolenames, but not abilities, revealed. System finalized. Roles mostly not done.
Team: Taredas, DRey, myself
#3 Yume Nikki Mafia
Flavour: TBW
Manifesto: No particular concept at present. Source material is heavily depressing.
Team: Wheat_Grinder, myself
#4 Intellectual Property Mafia
Flavour: TBW
Manifesto: More or less the sequel to Doha Mafia. Needs heavy assistance with the concept phase - the current concept just doesn't work for the mafia team at all.
Team: KCC, myself
Esper Simperer; Even the court homonculi need someone to look down on.
Jund Fangirl; Few things can describe the bliss of the fangirl's cries fading to silence (broken by occasional munching sounds).
Grixis Emo; 'Why should I go out there? They're all uncaring zombies! *sniff* No one understands me...' Bant Wageslave; Behind every successful knight is a corporate drudge doing his taxwork.
Naya Overenthusiast; Because there is such a thing as too much enthusiasm.
And yes, I do actually need help with some of these. (Hint, hint.)

I'm interested in writing a flavor game based on Deathnote. I'm a fairly new forum player and have never designed a setup/moderated so maybe I could handle the flavor and you could handle the nuts and bolts. Might be difficult to sink up the characters with roles if you aren't familiar with it though.
@Des, Tar, Hawk I'm willing to work on the Apprentice, Death Note and Majora's Mask if possible.
@LnGrrrR I could use the help of someone with strong flavor/writing skills.

The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.
I love DeathNote but haven't been able to come up with a way to run it that doesn't involve giving half the game a kill method. I've also been Light Yagami twice in games elsewhere. If you need me, I can help, though I would much rather play in such a game.

I'll probably be working alone, because my schedule is really odd.
Starting off with: Devil Survivor Mafia As He proclaimed, this world, created in seven days, shall be destroyed by the sounding of seven trumpets. You who have a will, fear the numbers your eyes shall see. Fear the time left...
Based off the game, it will be heavily flavour-based (though not completely). The Death Clock will probably make an appearance. Details in a week's time, give or take a week. And as the flavour suggests, you have seven days.
I have been thinking long and hard for what to use for the throw-down, and I have decided on Game of Thrones Mafia, based strictly on the books in A Song of Fire and Ice Series: The only unique mechanic that will be featured is that the setting (day scenes) will take place in each of the seven kingdoms (and perhaps, a trip to one of the free cities). Here is a bit of flavor:
From the the rocky terrain of Storm's End, to the frozen stronghold of Winterfell, many take refuge in the Kingdoms of Westeros. There, there are men whose try to live and get by each day, those who seek to make the world a better place, and those who play "the game" to try and reach true power. Those who play, understand the chaos of the game, and realize there is no middle ground when one plays the Game of Thrones. You either win it all, or lose. Chaos ensues, and many men will die. Only those who may understand how this world works may hope to reach their dreams.
"Chaos is not a pit, but a ladder: Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them... Some, are given a chance to climb, but they refuse and cling to the realm. Soon, they realize all of their Gods, and love, are nothing but illusions. Only the ladder is real, and the climb is all there is."
I am more then happy to work with anyone who wants to in. I also don't mind working by myself.

I think I will try to submit my 20 Questions Mafia for the competition. Roughly 20 players, it will be a very heavy "thinking" game. Players start off only knowing their alignment and roughly how many abilities they have, but no role flavor or ability details. Players can privately ask 20 yes/no questions to the mod regarding their abilities.
I'm looking for someone to help with ability design and balance, preferably someone with a penchant for Cunning PlansTM. I need to make sure the game can't be broken and isn't entirely confusing for the players, while still being crazy and fun.

DRey has joined The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask design team.
The setup formerly known as Iterated Mafia has been renamed to Singularity Mafia.
Current submissions: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Mafia - Taredas, DRey Mind Screw Salvation Mafia - Taredas, Cantripmancer, desCoures Singularity Mafia - Taredas Pirates vs. Ninjas: Bad Idea Edition - Taredas
(Yes, there's been a previous Pirates vs. Ninjas Mafia here, that's why it's the Bad Idea Edition! )
Still looking for a reviewer-equivalent for Singularity Mafia and possibly a second reviewer-equivalent for Majora's Mask (at this point, I'm pretty sure I'm handling flavor for Singularity and Majora's Mask).
Might as well throw in another submission since Taredas's post reminded me I have it:
Pirates Mafia!
Arr, there be a mutiny aboard The Red Marrow! It's up to Cap'n Bones and her loyal crew to find the instigators an' make 'em walk theh plank!
This is intended to be a sequel to my currently running Specialty, The Legend of Lucian Mafia. As with TLoL, everyone is a PR, and tight play all around will be necessary to win the game for your team. It's certainly less swingy than TLoL's setup, though.

I had forgotten that deadlines were already set in place. Looks like I'd best get back to work.
An interesting way to do it. I am glad I went a different route, or I would feel weird. I don't want to spoil too much for any of those with interest yet, but I am trying to experiment with a mechanic I am going to nickname: The Alliance System. Something each player, regardless of alignment/abilities can use.
As Taredas noted, I've joined up with his team for Mind Screw Salvation. Also, I've added Wheat_Grinder for Yume Nikki and KCC for Intellectual Property Mafia (working name) for now.
