The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.

@seppel: I was told to remind you of Arianrhod's Eco vs Tan post in Ataghan where he voted someone completely different after spouting off all the reasons why either should be kept alive/be lynched.
In mafia there's something called dichotomy, it means that when 2 guys claim same role one of them is certainly scum, we don't want to solve dichotomies at lylo. Scum are afraid of creating non-lylo dichotomies because in the long run it ensures they will take the fall.
Mafia has no interest of solving dichotomies, and hoping they will do our work for them is naive at best. They will just manuever around the real power roles as I've already explained.
They didn't claim the same role. All three of them claimed separate investigative roles, one of them with a passive condition, one with an active condition. That's not a traditional dichotomy, and saying that all three can't be town is creating a false dichotomy, which in fact IS a scum tell.

You're flipping so much on your opinion this game it's impossible for anyone to accurately figure out what you're actual agenda this game is. You're repeatedly gaming the setup trying to figure out this "dichotomy" regardless of the fact hat there isn't an actual one.
Unvote, Vote: DRey
If anyone agrees that we should not be lynching any of the investigative roles today, lets kill the likely scum. The majority of his posts since I last called him town have been him changing his opinion and his mind within a few posts of each other, spouting terrible logic, and trying to fear monger this sense of a false dichotomy where we absolutely have to lynch an investigative role. Keeping a vig alive on the off chance he's telling the truth is not worth losing a power role.
I'll be checking the thread often enough to change my vote before the deadline in needed, but if I can help it we are not going to no lynch today.

@WoLG: The sad thing is that means absolutely nothing when it comes to DRey, as he does that stuff all the time. Scummy behaviour is his norm, and upon claiming he frequently complains about how he's obviously town and how everyone else sucks. I'd still be willing to lynch him, but Xyre.
Ah, yes, another default lynch. (And everyone's following my "pick three" plan, which I think is cute, despite the tragic consequences.) Oh well, I suppose it was inevitable.
I stand by the list of reads I posted a ways back, except I'd put Voxx into Leaning Town. I still think the scum are some combination of Cyouni, zindabad, Wessel, and Caex, contingent upon the validity of Caex's claim. And I suggest telling Caex to investigate a randomly-selected target among the former three.
zindabad's effort is interesting, but I don't think it acquits him, because it doesn't demonstrate any desire to put in effort beyond the means of self-preservation. If it means anything, the zindabad/Seppel exchange makes Seppel look worse just due to the mediocrity of his arguments. zinda's plenty lynchable without the stringy meta reads.
I think there's too much setup speculation; for all the "cop and watcher can't coexist" notions, I think you should judge Caex first and foremost on his play, and second on the results he gives for his supposed claim. Trying to guess what Asian has added won't do you any good, because you don't know how strong the mafia are or what safeguards he's put in place to counteract the town.
DRey, after this game you and I will have a talk about your play and why you're a little awful to play with at times.
It's kind of stupid I got lynched because "oh no we can't have too much power though" by all the people who ragged on me for wanting to kill Caex. This town has memory problems.
He sounds justifiably mad.
He's being lynched for something he doesn't agree with. Why wouldn't he be mad?
Watcher is usually the scum role, and tracker is usually the town role. Iso will attest to the overpowered nature of a Watcher+Doc combo when the mafia are down a roleblocker.
And on top of that, Ecophagy reviewed this game, and he just learned from Cyberspace mafia that you don't do Watcher+Doc (and definitely not Watcher+Watcher+Tracker+Doc lol).
They didn't claim the same role. All three of them claimed separate investigative roles, one of them with a passive condition, one with an active condition. That's not a traditional dichotomy, and saying that all three can't be town is creating a false dichotomy, which in fact IS a scum tell.
I know, I was just explaining the basic premise to him.
Tell me how these statements mesh:
You're flipping so much on your opinion this game it's impossible for anyone to accurately figure out what you're actual agenda this game is. You're repeatedly gaming the setup trying to figure out this "dichotomy" regardless of the fact hat there isn't an actual one.
The statements mesh perfectly. I remembered something, when Seppel posted that and I reread I had to agree with him. I'm certainly not antagonizing people just for the sake of it (like some people out there), Seppel had a fair point and made me reevaluate.

My logic is stellar, my mind is set into Xyre and Caex since the mezozoic times and there's no false dichotomy, Caex, Xyre and Cy can't all be town. Are you seriously advocating they can be? Are we even in the same game?

I disagree. The modgaming will have to wait until we have some confirmed roles and alignments. And a Cyouni wagon can totally happen if people would just vote him.
My vote on Xyre bugs me too. But I'd rather lynch Xyre than No lynch. People are too thick headed to see that Caex is lying. I've shown how several times. I doubt that Cyouni will get enough support to be lynched but I can switch my vote to him if it happens, only because Cyouni has given us less content to work with and has not been scum hunting.
Do you think Cyouni's role as claimed could be scum, Seppel? Because that seems like a difficult conclusion to accept.
I don't understand why this is so difficult to fathom, really.
It's optional - meaning he wouldn't have to let townies get the extra vote when tracking them. Or, he could choose to give a townie an extra vote and buy some street cred. Choice.
If he uses it on a scum buddy, the power of tracking is lost - in exchange, an extra vote. So power lost at night to gain power in the day. Choice.
It's not a permanent gain, so if roleblocked or killed, or his buddy is killed, the cause is lost. Once people connect the dots, it's a two-for-one, potentially. Risk/Reward. Choice.
It's elegant and skill-intensive.
@Seppel: As I ponder this further, I would be willing to lynch Cyouni today. I really disliked his last post - it struck me as one of those "gotcha!" type posts that scum like to make when they're caught but find a logic hole. I like my analysis of the claim, and I don't care for his passive play throughout the game. I am not at all reminded of Cyberspace.
Yes this flies in the face of my previous stance. I've reconsidered and I'm confident enough to make this call.
I will not vote for Caex or Xyre.
Second the call for Zionite's explanation.
There's one other reason I believe Cyouni is both telling the truth and scum - I'm the foil to the speed-lynch. Elegance concluded. (No, I will not elaborate at this time.)
And now we have a governor claim, oh well (please no one say I'm helping the scum because everyone can understand that, we have no newbies here, and anyway I don't want any confirmation from DYH, I couldn't care less about his role).
Now we have governor, mason, cop, tracker, roleblocker + doc (from Caex claim) and watcher claims. I know the vig is real, but if all those roles are real I will eat my hat. And people still say I'm the one creating false-dichotomies. Heh.
Meanwhile this counterclaim of sorts seals the deal for me, tracker being the weakest of powers also makes this a low risk lynch. unvote, vote Cy

One of the criticisms AI received in his last game was that the narrator was also one of the participating players, Katniss was the narrator and one of the reasons for the guy that played her to be lynched was "Katniss as the narrator can't also be part of the game, or the player playing her would be confirmed town, therefore you are scum falseclaiming".
The guy was town and he raged at AI post-game, AI apologized and said he would not do that again. And this is his next game.

One of the worst drawbacks of flavor is the flavorgaming, and I genuinely don't think Katniss being both a role and a narrator was a game-changing issue, just a minor nitpick after-the-fact.

Everyone, listen up! Lynching Cyouni (or Xyre for that matter) is the worst plan at this moment! If we lynch either of them the scum will just NK Caex and roleblock the other, or, depending on whether Cyouni is town, NK the one remaining town investigating role. We'll lose every investigating capability for a mere 33% chance of hitting scum! Even lynching Caex is better than Cyouni or Xyre at this point.
Also, DRey is trying to paint Cyouni as scum! Can't you see? He's painting everything Cyouni does in a scummy light, just to push through a mislynch! Why would scumCyouni falseclaim Gandalf? DRey is SCUM, everyone!
Just look at his posts the last few days- he just tries to push through the mislynch, first with Xyre, and now suddenly he turns around and says Cyouni must be scum because of some idiotic argument that DRey knows that AI would not put characters in the intro into a game as players. What does that mean, that Bilbo and Gollum are also not characters? Apart from that, in the game DRey is referring to Katniss was the narrator. Here Gandalf is just mentioned. It's different! And it's just typical scumDRey trying to push through a late-Day mislynch!

I mean, I credit you for digging them up instead of just saying something happened in another game and trying to bluff us that way, but you can see the situation you describe does not bear much resemblance to the actual quotes. Why doesn't anyone see???
This post has the ring of a panicking scum to it - lots of exclamation points, triple question mark at the end, lots of exhortation and "everyone!"s, caps on how DRey is scum, no actual quotes or evidence. It gets even better (for better, read worse) when you suggest Caex as a viable lynch over Cyouni or Xyre, which is just not true.
This is a lot of emotion for someone who has been almost entirely blase this whole game and I think it comes at a telling time. In fact, compare his total lack of interest in or comment on the Xyre/Zionite, DRey/Xyre, and Caex issues to his reaction to a wagon on Cyouni here and you will see where Wessel's interests lie, I think.
I can't say I'm 100% sold on the Cyouni lynch but his and Wessel's reactions to the wagon do enough for me to accept it as a deadline lynch. Unvote; vote Cyouni.
If this hadn't happened I would've cased Voxxicus; if we had more time before deadline, I'd have cased Zionite. Both remain firmly on my scumlist.
In fact let's just throw a scumlist here while I'm posting:
Safe on dry land:
WoLG - Could've easily dismissed my eleventh-hour defense of one week ago and continued to vote me; left the wagon at a critical time, prompting its dissolution. Town as the day is long in my book. Stardust - I continue to get mostly noob town vibes here and I think he's been thorough in his play. DRey - Mostly misguided and all over the place but I think his heart is in the right place. I have to reluctantly conclude that his million "medium-sized" posts do not qualify as a scumtell for him. Seppel - A little more dubious on this one as I think he's been a little selective in what to read and respond to and what not to but there are also encouraging signs here. His push on me was utter garbage but that reflects his town play in SC - I almost think his attacks as scum would be better researched.
Treading water: Caex Kothar - His behavior is nothing to write home about and the stuff about "trying to draw a roleblock" was a load of mumbo-jumbo. Firmly on notice, but definitely worth keeping alive for another day. Xyre - As the day went on his behavior got steadily worse. I think he won exchanges with Zionite and DRey, but to be honest I would expect a Xyre of any alignment to get the better of them on D1. Another one in the "wait and see" category. DYH - Replaced someone with very dubious behavior and has mainly pressed the attack against Voxxicus (I agree with it, but I could also see DYH in the role of cultured veteran grinding down a newer player for an easy D1 mislynch, compounded by Voxxicus's vanilla claim) and YT (with weak meta and misrepresentation.) I've contributed more content than DYH thus far and that really worries me.
Risala min taht al-maa': Wessel - Sinking fast. His standoffishness about major events is in stark contrast to his fevered reaction to this late Cyouni push. Cyouni - I was quite convinced of his towniness when I saw his claim but having reviewed him and read his posts over the past 5 RL days I'm now comfortable with placing him here. Voxxicus - Would be my preferred lynch although I think his behavior is slightly better than Zionite's, mostly because of his lack of attention paid to the game, the poor behavior of his predecessor, and yes, his vanilla claim. Zionite - This goes without saying. Zionite is the scummiest player in this game. He exhorts people to do things that he isn't doing himself (like use behavioral evidence), loudly bemoans that nothing is happening when he is doing nothing either, and pushes an abysmal lynch attempt on Caex before melting down, taking the huff, and throwing his vote absolutely anywhere. Should not live to see tomorrow.
Ugh. I'm entirely unenthusiastic about a Cyouni lynch. His behavior hasn't been a shining beacon of towniness but I'm not reading him as particularly scummy either. Since there's really no way the momentum is going to swing back to DRey considering the number of players who believe him to be town () I'm just going to skip doing a case on him with Cyouni at L-1.
Here's my scum list since I'll most likely be dead toNight.
1)DRey
2)Xyre
3)Zionite
And my town list just because.
1)Wessel
2)DYH
3)Voxxicus
Also, I apologize for my terrible play. My interest in this game has waned a lot since I claimed and that's really not fair to you guys.

Gandalf's plan had backfired. Literally. The burning pine cone he hurled had ignited the dry brush on the forest floor, and the flames now threatened the leafy perches of the dwarven party. The orcs urged their wargs to attack, and the bulk of the great beasts nearly toppled the slender trees. With no way out, Gandalf boldly leaped from his pine, staff in one hand and Glamdring in the other. Bilbo cried out, fearing for Gandalf's safety. But the hobbit never discovered the wizard's fate, as at that very moment, great eagles descended from the sky and plucked Bilbo and the dwarves from their trees. Gandalf breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the others were in safe claws, and faced his foes with grim determination. Between spell and sword, orcish blood would flow.
Cyouni has been lynched.

Track (Choose another target player; other players that player targets this Night are revealed to you.)
After becoming separated in the Misty Mountains, you have struggled to keep the company together. The dwarves seem increasingly distrustful, keeping to themselves whenever possible. It may be time to show them all that you are no conjurer of cheap tricks.
It is now Night One.
Night One will end no later than 11:59PM EST, Thursday, May 9th.
Please send in Night actions as soon as possible and inform me if you have an optional Night action you do not wish to take.
The dwarvish party wept for Gandalf. Without the wizard to guide them, the eagles flew them back the way they came and deposited them at the foot of the Misty Mountains before flying away. Grateful for their help but unsure of what to do next, the dwarves set up a makeshift camp to wait out the rest of the Night. In their haste, they failed to keep track of all of their number. A howl in the dark cut through the air, followed by the clash of metal and a sickening thud. The others swarmed to Xyre, but it was too late. The damage had been done. Would their trials never end?
Xyre has been killed.
Balin, Town Watcher
Watch (Choose another target player; other players that target that player this Night are revealed to you.)
When Thorin requested your aid in retaking Erebor, you felt duty-bound to join his company. You still feel guilt over your inability to locate his father, Thráin II, following the original attempt, and are determined to make amends by lending your watchful eyes to the cause.
It is now Day Two.
With 10 alive, it takes 6 votes to lynch.
Day Two will end no later than 11:59PM EST, Thursday, June 6th.
If a spectator or dead player would like access to the spectator thread, please send me a PM.
Surprising NK, I expected them to roleblock Xyre hoping I would kill him for them. The best part is that I spend a great deal of time rereading the game and I noticed Xyre was town after my reread. So I shot Caex, yet, he's still alive, so he lied about being unprotectable and the mafia have a doctor or something bizarre is going on. I still have one shot though cause I lied about being one-shot, I'm actually a two-shot vig.
Things I discovered in my rereads.
a)Well is town beyond doubt. I have no doubt's he's with Iso, there's some things he said only Iso could have know.
b)Stardust is very, very likely scum, if he's scum Seppel is scum with him.
c)Voxx is likely scum.
d)Caex is scum, but everyone knew that already.
@Seppel did you do something last night? Better yet, did you do something with my shot last night?
If bullets can't pierce your armor, votes can. unvote, vote Caex

So... DRey, you shot Caex, but he didn't die. I'm not really surprised that you decided to do that, but the nightkill seems odd. Why try to save Caex if they're just going to kill Xyre anyway?
Whatever, the fact that you both tried and failed pretty much confirms you as town, unless someone else claims to be roleblocked (or otherwise) instead.
Anyway, Xyre's town and Caex is alive, so Caex is scum, big surprise. Before I place my vote, Caex, you get to tell us who you investigated.
Barring any dramatic revelations, I don't think I'll be voting anyone who's currently claimed - either because I think they're town (Voxx, DRey) or because I think leaving them alive is more productive at the moment (Caex, Cyouni).
It doesn't. But if Wessel's scum, it makes Stardust look worse.
I'm scum if Wessel's scum.
And his list (a bit old, but holds the same scum anyway - Cyouni, zindabad, Wessel and Caex).
So Voxx should be town. Xyre was probably killed because scum is within zindabad, Wessel, Caex and myself. Seemed like he was coming around to Zionite as scum towards the end of the day as well.
But that's just a conversation starter. Caex should be the lynch today regardless.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
That actually seems like weird wording. I'd assume I'd just receive a straight "scum" result if he was scum, not a "not town". That would mean he's a neutral, I guess?
I'll clarify with AsianInvasion and get back to you.

1.) I'm very clearly town, it says so in both my role pm, and in the role information listed in the quicktopic that both me and Iso can see, so you're lying.
2.) I'm pretty sure you said you'd go along with everyone's scum lists for your investigation, and I wasn't on anyones, so you lied.

They didn't claim the same role. All three of them claimed separate investigative roles, one of them with a passive condition, one with an active condition. That's not a traditional dichotomy, and saying that all three can't be town is creating a false dichotomy, which in fact IS a scum tell.
Tell me how these statements mesh:
and
You're flipping so much on your opinion this game it's impossible for anyone to accurately figure out what you're actual agenda this game is.

He's being lynched for something he doesn't agree with. Why wouldn't he be mad?
I think I've expressed my feelings on this situation, ie. I want to lynch Xyre because he's less likely to be town out of the two.
Oh?
Do explain.

First paragraph: Watcher usually isthe scum role.
Second paragraph: This game was likely reviewed long before Cyberspace Mafia even began, so the entire point is null. This was just an attempt to see if I could glean any OOG information. Nothing was gleaned.
Zionite's vote on Xyre bugs me.

Wessel hopped off of Xyre, then DRey hopped on, then Zionite says, "You people are impossible." and throws a vote on Xyre.
@Zionite: What is up?
Also considering Cy will not be lynched toDay, who is your second and third options?
Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.
1. Cyouni
2. Zindabad
3. Zionite? DYH? Wessel? Caex if he's alive D2.
Cyouni or Zindabad, definitely. The rest will require rereads on D2.

With 12 alive, it takes 7 votes to lynch.
Day One will end no later than 11:59PM EST, Tuesday, May 7th (less than 31 hours from this post).
You are scum, proceed with the lynch.

Also it doesn't matter because we have DYH.
Zionite will vote anything that moves at present.
Shocking post. This alone might be worth your lynch.
This does nothing for me...
...and does even less when you actually provide the direct quotes. I mean, I credit you for digging them up instead of just saying something happened in another game and trying to bluff us that way, but you can see the situation you describe does not bear much resemblance to the actual quotes. The player did not "rage" at AI post-game; AI neither apologized nor promised anything.
Treading water:
Caex Kothar - His behavior is nothing to write home about and the stuff about "trying to draw a roleblock" was a load of mumbo-jumbo.
Risala min taht al-maa':
Wessel - Sinking fast.
"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."

Gandalf the Grey, Town Ring-bearer Tracker After becoming separated in the Misty Mountains, you have struggled to keep the company together.
Xyre has been killed.
Balin, Town Watcher When Thorin requested your aid in retaking Erebor, you felt duty-bound to join his company. You still feel guilt over your inability to locate his father, Thráin II, following the original attempt, and are determined to make amends by lending your watchful eyes to the cause.
With 10 alive, it takes 6 votes to lynch.
Day Two will end no later than 11:59PM EST, Thursday, June 6th.

Whatever, the fact that you both tried and failed pretty much confirms you as town, unless someone else claims to be roleblocked (or otherwise) instead.
Anyway, Xyre's town and Caex is alive, so Caex is scum, big surprise. Before I place my vote, Caex, you get to tell us who you investigated.
zindabad and Wessel named as scum.
Voxx was named as town. More unlikely choice.
