I still would argue that it wasn't as balanced as it could have been. There should have been one more vanilla town, both to offset the D2 lylo situation and to lend credibility to Voxxicus or scum claiming vanilla.
I don't think the balance was good. I agree with Zion when he says we are one man short. The thing is, town is overpowered, to combat this I think the mod inserted an anti-town neutral and reduced town numbers.
I don't quite agree with the solution. Town could've lost N2 and that's not good no matter what. If this was a 13 players game and maybe Wolg and DYH were vanilla plus another vanilla I think it would be better balanced. As it is, game is too swingy.
In the end town could only mislynch once before losing. I think the correct number of mislynches for losing should equal to the number of mafiosos. Given 3 mafiosos town should lose only after the third mislynch not the second.

The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.
Quick notes:
My reads were completely backwards almost all game. If it wasn't for Iso regularly keeping me on the straight and narrow, I would have been either mislynched D1 or D2. Iso called all of the scum team except for Seppel. The only reason I didn't pursue Seppel as hard was because Iso kept telling me he was town. And since Iso was right about Caex, Stardust, and Wessel, I couldn't NOT follow his logic! lol
For the entirety of D1 I pretty much had town reads on Caex/Stardust/Wessel. >>' Bad game for me all around.
Xyre: I'm sorry. I got so caught up in how since Caex was the first to claim a cop that we shouldn't have been killing him. I was getting a lot of town tells from you, but I just kept seeing your push on Caex to be scummy. It never crossed my mind that you were so hard on killing him because you were also a power role. I couldn't put myself in your mindset.
DRey: Sorry about some of the harsh things I said in the mason chat. It was a rough couple weeks for me IRL. I was absolutely convinced you were the mafia toughguy due to the rest of the town power and your play. Then again, I've never played with you before, but everyone was telling me you always play like this. One of the times meta actually mattered.
Wessel: Thank you. Great play this game, phenomenal save of me. In my opinion, you're pretty good at looking town even if you're alignment isn't.
Voxx: Great game. We pretty much had the game won as of post 1160, but then Zinda waffled and that gave me too much time to over think things and wifom the crap out of myself.
Any who: Go town.

Any comments/critiques of my play this game? Ways I should have handled things differently upon replacing in, or on final day?
It was a...frustrating experience, given that Occam's Razor did, indeed, point right at me.
Voxx, while I'm a complete newb, so take all of this with a boulder of salt, but...
I felt like there was a lot of emotion in your final argument. You brought up a lot of great points, but the comments of "Augh this is so frustrating, Seppel is obvscum argggghhh!!" I don't think helped your case, especially since it felt very similar to your final argument in FHF. Some people might argue that it shows how townie you are, but I think if you had stuck to the "These are the ways that Seppel is scum" in a cool logical way it might've been more effective.
That said, as mentioned above, you certainly were pretty good at spotting scum. Someone else in the QT pointed out the post where you noted the votecount was only townies were voting, nice catch. And I think the jailer gambit was a great idea.
Maybe it didn't help, but it was an extremely genuine mix of frustration and exasperation.
It felt like some kind of comedy routine:
Voxx: Let's lynch Seppel.
Iso: But he was jailed, he can't be scum.
Voxx: You can jail me afterwards if he flips town, if it helps put you at ease. He won't flip town.
Iso: But you might be unblockable!
Voxx: ...then why are you clearing Seppel because he was jailed, if you think that kind of role can exist?
Iso: Because he was jailed, he can't be scum.
Voxx: ARGHHHHHHHHH
DRey: Sorry about some of the harsh things I said in the mason chat. It was a rough couple weeks for me IRL. I was absolutely convinced you were the mafia toughguy due to the rest of the town power and your play. Then again, I've never played with you before, but everyone was telling me you always play like this. One of the times meta actually mattered.
Actually it didn't matter that much. Wessel has played with me a lot and he believed me to be scum, I try hard to mimic my town play when I'm scum. I'm not saying meta is ineffective against me (right Iso? ;)) but I don't remember being caught in meta before.
But after I claimed vig, I was confirmed town. It was really impressive the bull**** I've heard since that because:
a)Scum never claim vig as it's terrible play(just Xyre, but he was bad back there).
b)Despite everyone saying it's possible, no one provided even one non-ancient example of a mini with a scum toughguy. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE.
Next time, no bull**** please, guy claim vig in a mini, he's confirmed town after he proves his shoot and he should be allowed to shoot for obvious reasons. Lynching the claimed vig before he has opportunity to shoot and confirm himself is simply unacceptable.

This was an interesting game to follow along with. Must've been a trip to balance.
You should have seen what the game when AI asked for someone to double check it moments before it went live. I think we did an alright job, but the town was pretty stacked, and I must have missed the D2 LyLo scenario.
@AI: What would have happened to Wessel if I were killed by scum? What if Wessel and mafia targeted me at the same time?
Wessel already answered the second question.
The Ring would transfer to your killer, who would become an ascetic. If Azog held the Ring, Gollum could still bypass his immunity and kill him.
I don't think the balance was good. I agree with Zion when he says we are one man short. The thing is, town is overpowered, to combat this I think the mod inserted an anti-town neutral and reduced town numbers.
Completely wrong. The first two roles designed were Gollum and Bilbo. I mean...this is The Hobbit Mafia, after all.
Given that I wanted there to be three mafiosi and an anti-town neutral, I deliberately made the town strong. Ecophagy was against a 13-player game, but I think I could have made Fíli and Kíli into a copy of zindabad's role from Neon Genesis Evangelion Mafia, which would have helped somewhat. (The problem with that being that Azog's role would then have to be tweaked.) I also think it would have been funny if Gollum actually could talk to himself as people were discussing.
Ecophagy deserves a lot of credit for shaping the game into what it is today, and I think we did a good job in a short amount of time.
The Hobbit Mafia Notes
Items (Rules by Kraj, edited by AsianInvasion):
This game contains items (AKA artifacts). Items are an effect that can move from player to player, basically an alignment-less role that exists independent of the player possessing the item.
Whenever a player in possession of an item is lynched, that item is discarded. This will be confirmed in the lynch scene.
Whenever a player in possession of an item is killed by an ability, that item will be transferred to the player who did the killing.
Any player in possession of an item at the start of Night may pass one item to another player of his or her choice during Night. This is a Night action but can be used in addition to any other Night actions that player may have. (In other words, you can use an ability and pass an item in the same Night, and forcing a player to pass an item will not roleblock them.)
Passing an item resolves after all other abilities have resolved; if the receiving player would die that night, the item doesn't get passed. (For example, Xander has the TV Remote item and passes it to Ling-Ling, but Spanky kills Xander. Spanky has the TV Remote at the end of the night. If Spanky had killed Ling-Ling instead, Xander would have the TV Remote at the end of the night.)
Items with limited-use abilities will not replenish themselves if passed.
Items are automatically equipped if able. If a player has more than two Weapons, only two can be equipped at a time. A player with one Weapon equipped who receives two or more Weapons simultaneously chooses which of the incoming Weapons to equip. A player can unequip and/or reequip items during Night, and the switch will resolve before any abilities, but will not enable the activation of any non-passive abilities that Night.
Players can only activate one ability per Day/Night phase. Some players have passive abilities which continuously function or trigger under certain circumstances; passive abilities do not fall under this activation restriction.

{Bow and Arrows|Weapon}: Warning shot (Target player is alerted to incoming arrow, target may continue with action or perform no action; arrow has no effect either way.)
{Sword}: None
Town MVP: DRey had good reads and shot at scum on Night Two. Most importantly, after claiming, he turned his play around and forced the mafia to focus their attention on him. A solid performance.
Mafia MVP: Seppel held his team together as best he could and almost pulled it off in the end. I think he played well throughout, with the exception of Day Three's "coffee" implosion. That endgame was certainly a nail-biter!
FWIW AI, I think making Fili/Kili the masons, while not as flavorful as Gollum/Smeagol, also wasn't as obvious. If you had actually made Gollum/Smeagol the masons, while it would have required flavorgaming, I think people would have been onto it. Besides, it would've meant that Seppel couldn't try to pull the vote gambit, which I thought was pretty interesting reading. (I gotta admit, I thought Wolg was Gollum after that myself.)
Very fun game and a rare win at LyLo for me. I could kill WoLG though. His last post read like a scum hammer for the win, and there I was alone at midnight raging at my monitor. I went to sleep, didn't check the site this morning, went to work - and now I come home to find out we won. A pleasant surprise but a frustrating night.
Very well played by Voxx, DRey, and Zionite. Good play by Seppel too - if he had bussed Star rather than try to pretend his wagon wasn't happening, I probably would've gone with Voxx on the last day, since Voxx's behavior vis-a-vis Star wasn't 100% stellar either.
It has been a great pleasure playing with all of you and I'm glad I'm able to bow out with a win, and a town win at that. I've been talking about calling it a day for quite a while now and I think this is the right time. I plan to remain involved on the modding side of things and devote more time to hosting, reviewing, and improving myself as a mod and game designer. I'll probably be back - everyone comes back - but not in the near future. So happy scumhunting in the meantime and thanks for the fun times.

It's been fun playing with you, Zinda. I think we only played one or two games together, but those games taught me a lot and I thank you for that.
I look forward to reading the next game you host. As you may have heard, I am going on hituas for a while as well once my games end.
Your focus on defense in D1 felt a bit off, but your late game play was excellent. Thank you for being able to look through the razor and objectively judge behavior and interactions. I couldn't have blamed you if you'd just gone 'well, I jailed Seppel, so he has to be town' and lynched me. So not doing that was exceptional play.
Hope to play again with you some day, but I can understand taking a break. I recently took a good chunk of time off as well before reviving my mafia career here a bit.
Sorry i had to replace out, at least i was right about that avatar.
Well you were, but only by coincidence.
Bah. I'm disappointed I didn't just follow my Simpsons/Ataghan meta of posting hollow crap that seems town at first glance and full of enough WIFOM to keep me alive for another day or two at a second glance. With three scum alive we'd have had a win pretty secure going into N2.
One thing I thought was strange was people calling me out for adding Stardust to my scum list out of left field at the start of the game. I did the exact same thing in Giant Robot and nobody said anything.
It really wasn't a coincidence but okay. I'm not going to bother explaining in case i need to use that trick again

I'm gonna /barn LnGrrrR with what they said and add that going on and on about "Seppel is scum, can't you guys see that?" was really uncompelling to me. Both Caex and I mentioned at around the same time that you would've been much better off just laying out the facts. You were like, "Guys, don't modgame to PoE me! But modgame to lynch Seppel instead!"
@Wessel: I don't ALWAYS see you as scum. I just think you have a scummy style.

"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
