Was your vote based on any suspicion that Az was (in particular) scum faking a PR, or simply because he was faking?
Here was my logic:
"Oh look, Az is faking a PR. He did this before, when he was scum. He faked the all-smiley PR that I copied (from SP/jskura in Amnesia, who copied it from Az) in The Family Returns. Okay, so Az probably isn't stupid enough to do the same thing as scum twice - BUT! That's what scumAz would want us to think. So if I draw Az out of his faked PR, not only will that give me less of a headache reading the thread, it'll give me an Az reaction I can read, and if he's town and continues to fake it, I have no reservations about policy lynching him because I have seen what a distraction a faked PR can be."
But then he dropped it so I had no reason to be voting him because I felt his reaction was townAz - which I incidentally didn't want to oust yet, but as astute as you are, I figured that would be the next question.

Not a gambit, but a discussion point that I was thinking about this morning. Do we want to have a system of some kind where people call their realm for the coming day? Like, if I am planning on being in cyberspace for Night 2/Day 3, and would thus be jacking in (or staying jacked in) this coming Night, I let people know in the thread. Regardless of roles that may interact positively or negatively with this, it would let us coordinate things so that we don't have too many people jacked in at one time, which could let the scum ninja the realspace vote on us.
But then he dropped it so I had no reason to be voting him because I felt his reaction was townAz - which I incidentally didn't want to oust yet,
Aside from the that, what exactly about my reaction did you think was townish?
I wouldn't have described my reaction to that as townish in the slightest.

*head scratch* I don't think that's a very good idea.
If people declare their destination in advance, that makes it very easy for the scum to identify people who may be up to something special.
And if we are worried about the scum coordinating voting blocs - I'm not sure we should be until later in the game - declaring where people are going simply lets them anticipate and plan how to counter us.
I do think we probably need to figure out some kind of way of making sure that we don't wind up lopsided one way or another, or revealing power roles. Perhaps assign a certain number of people to random it up, or restrict the movements of suspicious persons.
Wait a minute... *think think think*. *rereads* We can effectively give our analysts and confirmed townies a one-shot protection by sending them to Cyberspace??! Possibly force the mafia to blast subpar kill choices? Awesome!
Hunh, I wonder if the mafia have something that lets them counter that, so maybe we shouldn't bank on it too heavily. Still, that's potentially an awesome advantage for the town.

Not entirely sure if a good idea. There is that caveat in the opening post about jacked-in individuals being 'particularly vulnerable to realspace night actions' or some such.

I was going to suggest we vote on who gets to jack in and who doesn't, but then I realized that's more trouble than it's worth and would potentially nerf our power roles, as well as stagnate the game far more than necessary.
That said, I guess I'm okay with putting out there that I have no intention of jacking in. Ever.

I wouldn't have described my reaction to that as townish in the slightest.
Couple things here. This is where I initially had some heartburn over Iso, but thinking back through the timeline:
Az posts stuff in binary.
Iso suggests policy-lynching him for faking PR.
Az frowns. Az and Iso simul-post, where Iso votes Az, and Az speaks in normal text.
Iso unvotes.
I think you're right, Az, in that Iso shouldn't find your sudden normal-posting a town tell if you had done it in direct response to the vote.
Since it was a simultaneous post, though, it doesn't look like you were backing down in fear of his vote, rather stopping of your own accord.
The former wouldn't strike me as a town tell, either, as you indicate above; but the latter could based on his suggested meta evidence, or even just stepping away from RVS. To be fair, though, I've not read the referenced game - so can someone enlighten me if it's relevant?
PPE: And Axel brings up another good point. Az didn't start the binary, which makes the likelihood of the PR being faked even higher, which fits with the stream-of-consciousness logic Iso presented.

It seems like a very bad idea to have townies going around saying that...
And if we are worried about the scum coordinating voting blocs - I'm not sure we should be until later in the game - declaring where people are going simply lets them anticipate and plan how to counter us.
I'm more worried about almost everyone jacking in, and two scum and one townie on the outside lynching someone who just "happens" to be a townie...
Wait a minute... *think think think*. *rereads* We can effectively give our analysts and confirmed townies a one-shot protection by sending them to Cyberspace??! Possibly force the mafia to blast subpar kill choices? Awesome!
...huh. I had misread that initially that they could be voted for, right up to when I tried to bold that section in response to you here. Not exactly sure what the flavour justification is for not being able to lynch someone because they're jack in, but that certainly seems to be the rule.
Not entirely sure if a good idea. There is that caveat in the opening post about jacked-in individuals being 'particularly vulnerable to realspace night actions' or some such.
If someone is jacking in, though, we are going to find out at the start of that night anyway. How do you see an early announcement making them more vulnerable?
I see no reason to give the scum any information in advance of the night period. The possibility exists for day abilities in this game.
As an aside, nothing about the way RR phrases his posts makes me feel like he's part of the uninformed majority. I am reminded of whatever game that was where I said that a lot, died, and he was scum. Conflux, maybe? The first sentence of the last paragraph, especially.

Hm. Somewhat true. I suppose that depends on whether transitions for that night are listed in the 'end of day' mod announcement.
I can still see possible cases where not giving out this information beforehand might be relevant, though. For example - if the mafia in cyberspace can't talk with the mafia in realspace.

I'm not sure that I want to either. But I thought of the possibility, and I think that we should consider it going forwards. We don't know yet how many people are going to want to jack in, and if that number is too large, it could cause problems.
As an aside, nothing about the way RR phrases his posts makes me feel like he's part of the uninformed majority. I am reminded of whatever game that was where I said that a lot, died, and he was scum. Conflux, maybe? The first sentence of the last paragraph, especially.

I figured the odds were very low. The mods were unlikely to put a crippling post restriction into the game, and if they have, the odds of someone else pretending to have that exact restriction were miniscule. Only reason I was entertaining the possibility at all was because of Az saying "I'm unfortunately serious" or whatever it was when posting.
In addition, a player who is in Cyberspace is still “in” the Realspace thread, but does not count towards lynch threshold and are particularly vulnerable to real-world actions. They cannot be voted for, but can be the target of Realspace abilities.
Cyberspace and the Real World have simultaneously running days and nights, but is primarily driven by Realspace. Once a lynch is reached in Realspace, night falls in both threads. Once a lynch is reached in Cyberspace, the results are posted, the lynched player enters Realspace and the thread enters an extended Twilight-esque period until the Realspace Day ends.
At the start and end of each day, Moderators of both realms inform it’s denizens of important events that have occurred, including all deaths, replacements and transitions.
@RR: The amount of thought process you've put into what happens going into Night, and the "we" in the sentence I highlighted. I'm also suspicious of your concern about the number of people going into Cyberspace and the way that's been presented. Like I said, the phrasing - and focus - just seems off to me.
PPE: And Axel brings up another good point. Az didn't start the binary, which makes the likelihood of the PR being faked even higher, which fits with the stream-of-consciousness logic Iso presented.
TL;DR: Iso's reaction seems fine to me.
I'd agree that the stream of consciousness sounds legit. Still some minor inconsistencies I don't particularly care for.
I have no idea what he means by my meta in Cyan's Impossible having anything to do with my play here.
I mean, different alignments first of all. That game I figured out who everyone was by day two using behavioral analysis, this game, all I have to do is look at my role PM. Very different.

@ced: If Az continued to fake his PR and to claim it true, I would have happily carried out his lynch. But he cut it out so I decided he was worthy of life...for now.

*ahem*
We should just vote Iso to claim range. Because it'll happen sometime today anyway, so we may as well just get it over with.

Still winning the thread.
He is.
Good question. I have my own opinion of Iso's behavior toward Az which I'll withhold until after this is answered.
Doesn't look like that'll be necessary. You're a creative fella, why didn't you just come up with something yourself, though?

Feedback?

Naya Overenthusiast; Because there is such a thing as too much enthusiasm.
Ever.
Meta. Reminded me very explicitly of Cyan's Impafia.

But Az wasn't even the first person to do the Binary post thing. Are you really saying you thought Az *might* have been trying to fake a posting restriction here - but that he also decided to fake a restriction based on something someone else had already posted?
TL;DR: Iso's reaction seems fine to me.

It seems like a very bad idea to have townies going around saying that...
What am I missing?
Also, I rather enjoy not dying.
If someone is jacking in, though, we are going to find out at the start of that night anyway. How do you see an early announcement making them more vulnerable?
As an aside, nothing about the way RR phrases his posts makes me feel like he's part of the uninformed majority. I am reminded of whatever game that was where I said that a lot, died, and he was scum. Conflux, maybe? The first sentence of the last paragraph, especially.
Icky.
V/LA: 3/21-3/24 & 3/27-3/29
To what extent did you genuinely consider that Az might NOT have been faking this binary thing?
Scum enjoy not dying more than town.
And you're missing the bit where jacked-in players count as being both in realspace and cyberspace.
@RobRoy

What about this disturbs you?
I figured the odds were very low. The mods were unlikely to put a crippling post restriction into the game, and if they have, the odds of someone else pretending to have that exact restriction were miniscule. Only reason I was entertaining the possibility at all was because of Az saying "I'm unfortunately serious" or whatever it was when posting.

Relevant parts bolded.
