Recently, quoting inside the mafia forum was changed from the forum default to nested quoting. If you have a dog in this race, please vote on whether or not you want this feature to stick around. We're working on making the nested quoting optional, but until then, what should be this sub's default behavior?

I'll be glad when it shifts back to being optional. I thought it would make things easier, but for me it became a mess. I think I've made as many posts with screwed up formatting since the change as I have since I first joined without it (around 2-3, I'm good with single quote formatting).
I'm probably in the minority and can always preview posts, so I'm fine either way until it becomes optional. But once optional, I'll probably turn it off.

Good to a depth of one for context. Past that quotewalls may get absurd
This is the best solution imho.

The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.

Agree. I like it, but when you start getting 3-4 levels of 1 sentence question/response and you get several of those in a quote, it gets pretty absurd.
That said, I like nested quotes and until a less cumbersome solution appears for the minority (optional, fixed limit), we need to police ourselves and preview before we post and snip excess context unless it's necessary.

There is a discussion that occurred in the CI about nesting quotes (This poll was a result of it).
The staff is talking to Hannes to try and implement a check box for optional use of Nested Quotes. They were unable to give a time frame and could not specify whether it was possible or not.
I have never had an issue with too many quotes. As far as something being too spammy, I don't see nested quotes being any different than those long, long posts we all know too well about.

The problem I see is that as it nests deeper and deeper, the possibility of quote misattribution increases dramatically.

Ah, I see what you mean.
Still, I couldn't see it as a horrible issue. How are people enjoying it now?

Other than having issues trying to pull a single quote with the correct number configuration for that post I would say that Nested Quotes are a non-issue.
Personally though, I would want the Nested Quotes removed until there is an option in place for Nested Quote, but I know a majority of the Mafia Community will disagree with me.
Alright, the populace has spoken. We will keep nested quotes as the default for the mafia sub as well as attempt to add a pineapple ... er, make them optional.

Seriously though, it's an excellent tool for keeping flow of conversation in frame, especially when there are multiple discussions happening.
People do need to use it with some sense, so as not to spam a wall of text that they've just quoted a post back.

I've been finding myself having a difficult time when trying to just get a couple quotes rather than all of the them.
