Hey, we may have the birth of a new mafia vocab word.
ISO- noun- to create a smokescreen/attention vortex using walls of text and hyperdefensiveness that effectively draws attention away from anti-town roles/plays by drawing all attention to oneself or severely diminishing other players' desire to read the thread.
Use- "Oh crap, Megs FOS'd someone when he wasn't voting anyone. I'm going to pull an Iso and hope no one notices."
@Iso- don't take it personally, I'm mostly joking. I actually enjoy the wide variety of playstyles and personalities that play on this site, you included.
If that's seriously the only thing I remember to use it for, it'll be worth it. I never remember to take notes on things.
Okay, it is the plugin. Damn. Oh well.
Wish I had seen this earlier.
Scumdar does display a popup on games you're in if you try to edit a post. I'll see about making it something you can say, "Don't show me this again this game," or something.
One last thing: Love AE's comment in the scumchat. ("Right. I'm on board. I just hate when I'm scum and Cyounis not. He always seems to cop me or something to the manner and I'm outed. But him and Gricky have me on their side for the time being so I think his priorities are elswhere.")
*Blah*blah*blah*Let's kill Guardman*OK*...*OMFG Why is he still alive?*blah*blah*blah*Let's kill Guardman*OK*...*OMFG Why is he still alive?*blah*blah*blah*Let's kill Guardman*OK*...*OMFG Why is he still alive?...
I couldn't stop laughing.
I can't wait for the game I'm an SK and your in the game. Your dead asap.
Guardman sucks as town. He hunts out scum but he doesn't push hard for his scum suspects to be lynched. Hopefully the other town doesn't just follow Seppel onto me.
AE 09-19-2012 05:49 PM ET (US) Edit: Thats a compliment G. 669
Lol. And thanks for the compliment. And I try, but it is so hard being right and having to push the truth onto the non-believers.
Yeah I agree with AI forcing a modkill is both unsportsmanlike (and blacklistable) and I question the intent of the rule if it is used for the clear benefit of a team (it's like in the Superbowl when the giant's took a penalty to run time off the clock).
I wouldn't of done it. I agree with this as you can see me saying it in the scum chat.
I think you guys got it all wrong. Self-voting is not a modkillable offense and Charm never wanted to say it was, that rule only meant that anyone who self-voted would be instantly killed and there's no escape, there's no:
A: I hate this world, I will vote: A
B: Why are you doing this dumbass?
A: Actually you are right, I should not do this, unvote: A
It's a feature, and I feature I greatly enjoy. I think trading a scum life for the end of the conversation can be worthwhile for scum. It's a big price to pay sure, but it may be handy sometimes.

The game is not being dumbed down. Control is doing fine; Draw-Go is not the only kind of control. Aggro is doing fine; Red Deck Wins is not the only kind of aggro. Creature combat is an important core concept and belongs in every color. Mythic rarity is not destroying the game. People whine too much for no good reason. Magic is more popular than ever, so keep calm, brew some decks and play some damn cards.
Valid how? That town Iso responds like this all the time? That scum Iso never responds like this? I can tell you that Iso did not react this way to his wagon in The Family Mafia, he pretty much rolled over and took it.
Seriously, does anyone actually buy that swampland Iso is selling? EVERYONE IS META-able. Don't be so high and mighty from your throne that is Iso's Grand Mafia and believe for a second you are not meta-able.
I got that from the Brazillian flag. I'm not laughing at you per se, but the mental image of you flying to Iso's city and holding him down while splooging in his face was just too much. If it makes you feel better, my mother was born and raised in Sicily and some of her mistakes in English have left me in tears from laughing so hard.

Told you I should've gotten enhanced, Gricky. Would've broken the game. I should've just continued to keep my head down.
E: I do think the town was too strong as far as the information roles were concerned, but they all must've been a blast to play. This game was certainly solvable by massclaim, especially with my role being completely unreasonable once enhanced. Scum did play better than town early.
AE proposed the false claim, and I thought it a good one, risky not to use my own but hey. (And I thought my ability would resolve since it was on the stack dead or alive.)
And I'm glad I was right about Seppel. Dear god, that would be a broken ability. Announce, "I'm looking for someone to win the game" then proceed to find them and win?!?
I'm amused that [Shalako], of all people, are talking about terrible reasoning. "Hey, PF's RVS daykill must be serious, therefore I should shoot him to prove that I have a daykill!"
Oh man I just realized Void's role could have actually done things he said it couldn't.
He said a statement could not be used as long as it confirmed a person, while the limitation was "declaring any player to have a certain role, alignment, or win condition." Oh man that would have been useful.
@Arcadic: You do realize that by pushing the "Iso meta" argument any time I'm town that players like you make it impossible for me to get any better as a player? Any time I try to do something to tighten up an end of my play, someone goes "DERF ISO IS SCUM BCZ META LOL" and I have to revert to whatever the **** it is that I was doing before that game which was probably less than efficient to begin with if I felt it needed fixing at the risk of getting mislynched? You're propagating a cycle that rewards poor behavior by advocating a lynch any time an aspect of that poor behavior is changed. I know I'm by no means the best Mafia player to ever exist - but I also know I'm not a **** player and when people attempt to meta me despite me attempting to make my town and scum games parallel it prevents me from improving further. I don't intentionally do stupid **** just to obfuscate my meta anymore and people seem to not realize that.

I'm ok with losing this game because the odds were against us from the get go. Nothing against charm or his set up, it just needed a little more tweaking. Any game with a lot of power can get swingy if there is nothing to counter balance it.

Honestly, I think the mafia could have had a perfect win if not for the perfect mess of town actions the first few nights. If Gricky hits, say, Wheat night 1 (which just makes them masons and lets wheat talk to whoever just got lynched), and Wessel doesn't block the kill on guardman, the scum were well on their way. Day 3 pre-massclaim was the penultimate point of that effort: there were 3 kills the town could use that day and hit townies on two of them, the third being blocked by DV post-massclaim.
Looking back, I think what I should have done is removed the full-cop abilities from the town entirely. 4 half-cops should have been more than enough to lock the scum into their claims, and force the game to actually focus on play analysis rather than getting there on the back of big abilities.
I'll keep this in mind for the next mafia game I run. Hope you all are ready for absurd levels of crazy!

Good Plan? How many mislynchs/kills did he lead us too. 3? 4? He was right on all of 1 person this entire game.
Seppel pushed through discussion when it was stagnating in the midgame, and between the two of us, we killed two non-town players (Prophylaxis and AE). Even though his lynch/Daykill hit rate was less than 50%, his overall play was a large factor in us winning the game. Trying to argue otherwise is just employing flawed, potentially biased, reasoning.
Killing proph when you did was not as useful as you think. At the time he was still doing exactly as we wanted.
Also just pushing discussion doesnt make him an asset to the town when the discussion he was pushing was 75% wrong.
Didn't we almost policy lynch you because you were useless and then you claimed it was a ploy? Then you went back to being useless. O yeah that is right that did happen. Fancy that.
....looking at the roles, I'm of the opinion town wins 9 times out of 10.
Nothing else makes this clearer than the fact that the game is pretty much solvable via a day 1 fully truthful (on the town's part, obviously) mass-claim. The mafia have, effectively, 1 x roleblocker and 1 x redirector to mess with night actions, and have no roles (well, perhaps pardoner) which can be placed under 'auto-town', whereas town has multiple roles of the sort. A day 1 massclaim activates pretty much every single info, half-cop, and full-cop role, with very limited capability for the mafia to mess them up. Add that to the Phoebe Halliwell role - already powerful enough if it just gives targets, but I understand it used terminology that implied what kind of ability was used as well? - and the mafia would get randomly screwed over by the role catching them in the act.

Yes, yes, the town won because you're awesome. Lets put that to a vote.
@Town- Please answer the following question.
The town won this game because:
A- The setup favored the town
B- Good doc choices
C- Fortuitous other night choices
D- Some combination of A-C
E- Excellent day play
F- Tordeck is awesome
G- Mafia group just plain sucked
And please be honest because after all, Mafia is a game where we learn from the critques of others.
But hey while you trolling how bout you go piss up a rope.
You have no clue what trolling is.
I am not doing this for entertainment sir. I am making a point. I am not trying to make you mad. Please learn what you are talking about before you attempt to say I am trolling, because I am simply not.
Asking anyone why someone else was banned when they were not is a perfect example of attempting to get a rise out of someone or in net speak terms, trolling.
Hey, could we please end this tangent? It's not really related to the game and we're just getting people upset for no reason at this point. Not pointing fingers here or anything.

Calm down guys. We all love you both. Also please don't leave salvation Tordeck.
Maybe I don't have perfect knowledge but from my POV Charm did make lots of mistakes, that's not a big problem because we are all humans and humans make mistakes (this is Charm first game right?) the thing is, one need to understand from his past mistakes to improve and to fix them in the future, if you don't understand where you failed you can't improve, apologizing is the first step forward that imho. Maybe it's just me but I'm not feeling Charm has quite understood his mistakes since he's still mad at DH when he should be apologetic to him.

Speaking of torches, I'm going to address DH now. As I said earlier, I knew he was going to be a bit of a problem child when he said in PM's "this role is strictly worse than vanilla town". I really didn't think that it was going to be as bad as it was, though. To say nothing of his "confirmed scum should be kept around to see their interactions" line of bologna, he was overly belligerent, attacked everybody who didn't fall in lockstep with his views, and generally made the game unfun for the rest of you. I got PMs from at least 3 players asking if his behavior was warranted. Guardman even asked to be replaced if he wasn't going to tone it down. But Post #493, the one that I had reason to believe was edited (later turned out to be unfounded, although the modkill was more than justified for any of the other reasons I listed) just was the final straw for me, and I couldn't wait any longer for Prophy to do my dirty work.
DragonHeart, on the other hand, was a complete menace, made at least 2 other players uncomfortable enough that they felt it worth PMing me about, and made one of the most blatant PM quotes I think I have ever seen. I know that my word isn't law or even close to it, but if it were up to me, I'd have him placed on probation indefinitely, and not be allowed to sign up for any further games for the rest of the calendar year.
I'll also say that I was on the verge of asking to replace out myself due to what DH was doing.
I've replaced out once, and that due to being in Hawaii for three weeks.
Night actions, favored town, doc choices, mafia group claimed themselves into a pigeonhole (Nieve cop? Unlynchable & unkillable?), my role was awesome.
Asking anyone why someone else was banned when they were not is a perfect example of attempting to get a rise out of someone or in net speak terms, trolling.
No I am sorry guys I have to correct this.
In terms of bad net speak this is trolling. In terms of anyone who knows when and where it originated from was part of the group that originally did it and was generally on the internet this is such an incorrect statement.
That statement wasn't meant to create a rise it was meant to facilitate a point. I hope sir you figure this out one day.
If you were half as intelligent as you think you are you would understand that words and their meanings evolve over time for one. And for two trolling was always used as a way to get a reaction from someone. Whether it was to get them irritated or just see who was a n00b and would actually react to the question.
