Lynch Mechanic
1. Votes should be bolded for them to apply in the game. E.g. Vote: Dagger
2. Unvotes should be bolded for them to apply in the game. E.g. Unvote: Dagger
3. You may Vote: No Lynch to end the current Day phase without lynching a player.
4. Unvoting a player first before voting another player is not necessary, but is appreciated and will put you in my good book.
5. Lynch will occur with a simple majority of votes. This is irreversible.
6. If a deadline is set, lynch will occur on the player with the highest number of votes at the deadline. If there is a tie, lynch will occur on the player who reaches that number of votes first. If there is no vote at all, No Lynch will occur.
Action Choices
1. There are two phases in this game: Day and Night.
2. There is a deadline for action choices. Abide by it. Any player who misses it will be counted as not submitting any action for that current phase, and will be put into my bad book.
3. Choices can be sent in advance if you won’t be available during the coming phase.
4. Any action choice is to be sent to me via PM, my preferred method of bookkeeping, and should have this game’s name in its title and the current phase listed. E.g. Intrigue Mafia Night 2
Upon the threat of replacement or modkill or blacklisting
1. Do not communicate, discuss, or even hint about this game with each other or with people outside of this game at all, unless your role explicitly gives you permission. This applies even when you are dead, unless permitted by me. I am the only person you can speak to.
2. Direct quoting or minor paraphrasing of your role PM or any PM at all from me is forbidden. The same threat holds if you ask other players to do the same.
3. Modifying or deleting your posts in the game thread is forbidden.
4. Posting in the game thread during the Night phase is forbidden.
5. If you are dead, posting in the game thread is forbidden. I will tolerate a “Bah” post on the condition there is no relevant information being conveyed to the living players, explicitly or implicitly.
6. Inform the game thread or me if you will be unavailable for more than a 72-hour period. No activity for the same period of time without prior notice will result in a prod being sent. Failure to respond to the prod is not optional.
7. Crypto-claiming and its variants are forbidden.
8. Outing or revealing your scum mates, whether faked or otherwise, is forbidden.
Miscellaneous
1. Please consult with me if you have any doubt or query. Better be safe than wrong. I don’t bite… much.
2. Any request to be made of me in the game thread is to be bolded.
3. Any request to be made of me in the PM should have this game’s name in its title.
4. Respect the Mod, the players, and the Forum Rules. This is not optional.
5. Have fun! This is not optional.
You can play as many actions as you like, Day or Night.
All interactions with the following 7 neutral parties are to be done via PM to the Mod.
1. The Guild of Coins ~Money begets money. Trigger: A player is lynched or killed. Effect: All tokens that player owned is donated to The Guild of Coins. Whenever the amount of tokens owned by the Guild of Coins equals or exceeds the threshold amount, all tokens owned is removed and all living players will gain an additional token. The threshold amount is then increased by 2. Threshold Amount: 7 Tokens Owned: 6
2. The Courier Post ~We know where you live. Trigger: During Day, any player may inform The Courier Post of a living player’s name. Each player can only inform The Courier Post once per Day. Effect: That player will give 1 token to the specified player at the beginning of the incoming Night. If that player does not have enough token, the exchange will not happen. If either player does not survive the Day, the exchange will not happen. The receiving player will only be told the total amount of tokens received and not where they came from.
3. The City Watch ~Guards! Guards! Trigger 1: During Day, any player may give 3 tokens to The City Watch. Trigger 2: During Day, an amount of days has passed equal to the number of living players X 2. Effect: Either trigger will impose a 12-day deadline for the current Day phase. This deadline is absolute. Deadline Imposed: Nil Days Left: Nil
4. The Beggars Sect ~The value is in the info. Trigger: During Night, any player may offer any amount of tokens to The Beggars Sect together with a living player’s name for investigation. There are only 3 such services in the entire game. Effect: The Beggars Sect accepts the highest offer and gives the bidder the alignment of the player investigated at the beginning of the incoming Day. All other offers are rejected. Only the winner loses the offered tokens. If there are multiple same bids, the fastest bidder is the winner. Remaining Services: 0
5. The King’s Justice ~Everyone is guilty of something. Trigger: During Day, any player may give The King’s Justice 5 tokens. The fastest player to do so gains the service of The King’s Justice. There is only 1 such service in the entire game. Effect: During Night, if a player possesses the service of The King’s Justice, the player may calls upon such a service to kill another player. A service rendered is a service gone. Remaining Services: 1
6. The Dark Cult ~Darkness comforts. Trigger: During Night, any player may give 1 token to The Dark Cult. Every subsequent visit to the Dark Cult by the same player will increase the token cost by 1 each time. Effect: Any action against that player will fail that Night.
7. The Holy Tabernacle ~In faith, trust. Trigger: During Night, any player may give 1 token to The Holy Tabernacle. Every subsequent visit to the Holy Tabernacle by the same player will increase the token cost by 1 each time. Effect: That player’s action that Night cannot be prevented. This effect will supersede the effect of The Dark Cult.
Great House of <player> House Emblem: <as stated in The Great Houses>

FoS: poggydude
Why is this worth an FOS to poggy? All he did was make a suggestion and you fos him because.....what you think he is scum looking for information to exploit the rest of the town? You think his comment was sinister?
If you’re explaining why it's bad do you think he knew or thought about anything when he suggested it?
Those questions asked; I don't think claiming coins benefit the town and I agreed with Caex comments that the info could help scum more then town.
I need more then 10 minutes to sit down and read all those beautiful things the mod posted that can be bought. There may be something there to help and strategize in game to benefit the town.

I think it's a somewhat suspicious move from someone with his mafia experience. If he's read the setup, he knows all the town is vanilla. The only hidden info the town has from the scum is the amount of coins they have, and he wants everyone to give it up.
It's a bit of a suspicious move from an experienced mafia player, in my eyes. Maybe if he'd simply suggested it for discussion I wouldn't have given him the FoS, but he immediately went ahead and claimed his coin amount. It pinged my scumdar a little. Not enough for me to vote him, but enough that I went "Hmmm". Hence the FoS.

i am an experienced mafia player... in the strictest definition of experienced i suppose.
Well, you've got more experience than me, at least.
Caex, you seem to be suggesting that we hold onto this information just because it is hidden. that isnt actually a good reason.
I disagree. Remember, this is a game in which all players are vanilla. The scum knows everything about every one of the town's roles, because they're all the same. Except for one solitary piece of information, which would be the coin counts. If they learn that, they have everything.
i say we spill it because it gives us much better coordination and therefore we can eventually catch liars with it.
Except if the scum lie about their amounts. How will anyone know if they are or not? All the abilities are anonymous, so we gain no info about who spends what coins to use what abilities. The risk of showing the town's hand so early far, far outweighs the risk of somehow catching someone in a lie.
If the scum know how many coins the town has, they'll be informed who to kill to stop people from utilizing the ability pool, or how much to bid on abilities to win their use.
It's almost entirely downsided for the town to reveal that info this early. Maybe later in the game it could be useful, but not at the start of the game.

No seriously. Every coin to me because if I don't get coins, I won't be able to do anything else, and I'll play like I'm Vanilla because I barely understand the game at this point and when I'm Vanilla **** gets crazy.
That being said, while I'm not entirely support of this notion, an idea: We could do poggy's mass coin claim and choose 2 targets for everyone to give their coins to (obviously we choose the two people most widely heralded as town). Then we find out who's lying. And if the scum die and have coins, we know who their buddies are after some math.
Who thinks this is a path worth pursuing? I'm not for it - not yet, anyway.

Hm. It's a thought, but I can think of a few holes in it.
First, whoever gets the coins won't know who gave them.
Second, you can only give one coin at a time.
Third, the scum could simply kill one of the coin targets and that action would fail, thereby rendering half of the plan obsolete. And if we accidentally choose a scum as one of the people, we're boned.

That's why I plan to wait til the end of the day to decide. I'm sorry if I did not make that clear. You are an experienced player and if I believe you are town, you'd probably get my coin(s) (if I have any at all for that matter).

The cop investigation is the most attractive option, but if multiple people bid only a single player gets the investigation. It can only serve to drain coins from the players, and if the town mobs it then no one benefits.
If you want to use it, my best suggestion is to have a group of 3-4 townies bid on it at a time. But you'd better hope people didn't choose the dark cult, where a meager investment bests it. Oh, unless you invest more money to make it unblockable.
There's a ton of risk involved, and it makes better economic sense to avoid that risk.

I don't see how math finds other scum if scum is caught lying after lynched.
I don't trust you enough to you give coins. Convience me you are town and well talk.
If the coins are distrubted after we die, having the information stay a secrete is better. There is nothing to stop scum from killing those with the most coins then to obtain more coins that way to help themselves.

Not sure what Mr. Pinata is going on about regarding the Beggar's Guild. Seems suspicious, but it's so overtly suspicious I don't think a scum would say that. Basically screaming "Nobody investigate anybody else!!!" is obviously madness.

Suggesting mass claim on Day 1 with no explanation. Scum.
Logic dictates that the town must have a superior bankroll compared to the scum in order to preserve game balance.
I posit that the cop scan is one of the most important town abilities and must not be allowed to fall into scum hands. Therefore, I believe we should use it early (before the scum acquire additional currency) and guarantee that the town gains control of it. I propose that tonight, all town members that are not otherwise occupied, should bid on the cop scan with as much as they feel comfortable spending to make sure it doesn't fall into scum hands. I doubt the scum have any members with 2 coins and it's almost unforeseeable for them to have a member with 3 coins. Therefore, a bid of 2 coins should guarantee town control of the scan. Even so, multiple houses should bid in order to increase our chance and prevent the scum from singling anyone out.
Target at your own discretion and report your results in the morning.
If at any point we have a confirmed townsfolk, it will not be unreasonable to pool money to them in order to check coin claims and to allow them to purchase the kill. That same person should buy protection the night we transfer to them in order to avoid being the night kill and having our efforts be for naught.

So how do we guarantee that the town gets their bid in first?
We hope a townie pays enough attention to bid first, I guess. There's no real way to guarantee the town gets it. But a mass bidding is, from what I can tell, the best bet. The town outnumbers the scum 3-to-1. We hope the math works in the town's favor.

My question to you is Iso, is do you think any of the 5 people to have "followed you" to be scum? Obviously, I am not amused with your technique, because it made me have to reread to go where the heck did tezzeret do to be scum?
I thought I would have a lot to respond to, but page 18 (I do 50 posts per page) looks like it would belong in Mafia theory, while a good chunk of 19 is either fluff, or yelling.
I will say this though: @JD: Get your vote off of IB. We are almost at 1000 posts, and don't even have an L-2 claim (I don't even know/remember why our vig claimed). Focus on Choc Pi, Poggy, or Atogaholic (or another large wagon I may have missed). If you feel that wary of IB, deal with him tomorrow.
...Can't believe I have to do this every game, but I will be damned if I have to go through another 2000 post day.... Grumble Grumble....
Im not saying vote him, I am saying make a fricken vote. Are you telling me you think every single person who had gotten close to L-2, you think town?
I am also not on my high horse, you are wasting your vote if you think you can get even remotely close to a lynch on IB. He hasn't even pinged the scumdar (although, I am not paying that close attention to him), and instead of figuring out on a group consensus, you are trying to make us go around in a circle.
Push him into claim territory then. You don't have to lynch him, but saying he has been lurking, does not mean you give that person a free pass when what little you have to work with, even you yourself said you dislike.
See specific sections. This is in response to IB.
I can go for an IB lynch, but I'd rather see Laset hung to dry first. That's my opinion.

I don't believe we should jump on poggydude for his coin claim. Yes it was too soon, but the mechanics of this game could (later) benefit the coin claim. I mean that's all the concealed info we are likely to have.

Vote Iso because of "Suggest a plan, but not commit to it to see if it sticks." reads as looking for approval without trying to stand out. You also read like your brother playing clueless, and when you play or are clueless, bad things happen.
Not sure what Mr. Pinata is going on about regarding the Beggar's Guild. Seems suspicious, but it's so overtly suspicious I don't think a scum would say that. Basically screaming "Nobody investigate anybody else!!!" is obviously madness.

You're silly. I need some silly in Mafia at the moment
And also you're wrong. Emo's points are so far the best posts I've read, even if they are convoluted in their Vizzini-like ideas. This is why this game is elegant in design. It makes for an ugly power struggle to manipulate an open setup.
I can get behind the idea of this post, but the execution of it seems short sighted.
Yes, we could all bid 2 coins, if we have them, and then cross our fingers that a player gets there, but this assumes the scum don't just Dark Whatever up and 2 coin vs 1 coin us to death. These Cop shots seems more critical and approachable in the late game when we can pool our resources more reliably to make them unblockable through more "redistributed" wealth, if I understand the setup.
Same goes for the Vig shot. It won't be "unlocked" unless we pool our resources, and even then we have to pool them in secret.
I suggest we actually don't coordinate who we do or don't collectively give coins to for the first Day phase, and that we see where we are at Day 2. Any coordination done through in-thread conversation is just asking for a scum to talk their way into more resources.
Either hang on to your own coins, or consider then an "anti-vote" to be used in Night phase on a player you trust, which you can later reveal and which will make associations and choices clearer as the game goes on.

You can play as many actions as you like, Day or Night.
All interactions with the following 7 neutral parties are to be done via PM to the Mod.
1. The Guild of Coins
~Money begets money.
Threshold Amount: 7
Tokens Owned: 6
2. The Courier Post
~We know where you live.
3. The City Watch
~Guards! Guards!
Trigger 1: During Day, any player may give 3 tokens to The City Watch.
Trigger 2: During Day, an amount of days has passed equal to the number of living players X 2.
Effect: Either trigger will impose a 12-day deadline for the current Day phase. This deadline is absolute.
Deadline Imposed: Nil
Days Left: Nil
4. The Beggars Sect
~The value is in the info.
5. The King’s Justice
~Everyone is guilty of something.
6. The Dark Cult
~Darkness comforts.
Trigger: During Night, any player may give 1 token to The Dark Cult. Every subsequent visit to the Dark Cult by the same player will increase the token cost by 1 each time.
Effect: Any action against that player will fail that Night.
7. The Holy Tabernacle
~In faith, trust.

{Magic: The RPG}
Caex, you seem to be suggesting that we hold onto this information just because it is hidden. that isnt actually a good reason.
i say we spill it because it gives us much better coordination and therefore we can eventually catch liars with it.
Vote pinkys_brain because for some reason I've only been in both of her games run on this site as a gimmick.

Well, you've got more experience than me, at least.
I disagree. Remember, this is a game in which all players are vanilla. The scum knows everything about every one of the town's roles, because they're all the same. Except for one solitary piece of information, which would be the coin counts. If they learn that, they have everything.
{Magic: The RPG}

Not sure if serious.
{Magic: The RPG}
Well it depends on what type of coins you have and if you have a washer/dryer that takes coins.
As for the idea, I'll consider giving coins to Iso, because Iso is a power player. I'll wait though until near the end of the day to decide.

Thank you.
Isn't that your own fault?
I don't see how math finds other scum if scum is caught lying after lynched.
Where did you see this?
I don't trust you enough to you give coins. Convience me you are town and well talk.
If the coins are distrubted after we die, having the information stay a secrete is better. There is nothing to stop scum from killing those with the most coins then to obtain more coins that way to help themselves.

First sentence of Post # 3:
"Every player starts with 0, 1, or 2 coins."
This does not invalidate my post and in fact makes it more likely (Read as: 100% chance) that a 2 coin bid would win the cop scan.
I believe the cop scan is of utmost importance and must not be allowed to fall into scum hands due to lack of diligence for any of it's three shots.
If it's a tie, the first bidder wins.

Anyways, I agree we need to shift the convo to finding scum.
I don't believe we should jump on poggydude for his coin claim. Yes it was too soon, but the mechanics of this game could (later) benefit the coin claim. I mean that's all the concealed info we are likely to have.

Blah blah, vote somebody, unvote somebody, etc.
Absolutely against the usual poggy Day one claim gambit. This game requires a velvet hammer armorsmith, not a farrier.
Or maybe some falconry. Can we get some falconry?
Yeah not a fan. Lets not and say we didn't.
Vote Iso because of "Suggest a plan, but not commit to it to see if it sticks." reads as looking for approval without trying to stand out. You also read like your brother playing clueless, and when you play or are clueless, bad things happen.
You're silly. I need some silly in Mafia at the moment
And also you're wrong. Emo's points are so far the best posts I've read, even if they are convoluted in their Vizzini-like ideas. This is why this game is elegant in design. It makes for an ugly power struggle to manipulate an open setup.
Johnny, born and raised. Always lookin' for the Next Level Combo. Thanks to Bornover of FHLS for the banner!
