why is the elephant mad?! in korea we say that elephant is doong doong and bābo. it is most suspicious that mr. ricks is so haste. loxodon does not have haste unless it is abnormal!
He's either:
1. Scum (which I don't know)
or
2. A player who is barely comprehensible and that will I 100% guarantee you be a liability to the town.
If we find a better target I'm open to being persuaded to change my vote, but in absence of that I wouldn't feel terribly bad about having jiggernuts out of the game.
I don't have a read on him as scum yet. that's why it's only semi-serious.
Oh, and r_0 hasn't put it in the first post yet, but I'm being mentored by Wheat_Grinder in this game.
I would also like to take this opportunity that my political advisors (Beth Myers, Peter Flaherty, and Eric Fehrnstrom) have all been fired and replaced by Iso.
I like being able to fire people who provide services to me.
Rather agreed. I've played in other forum games (over in Custom Card Creation, a while back). Or rather, spent weeks telling him that signups had already ended and he couldn't join. If I recall, he's South Korean. His English is terribad, so I dunno if it's even fair to him.
I don't think that's a scumtell. Jiggs has that posting style because he has horrible English. Gonna be a long game though.
If it's not just how he posts and actually represents that he has a difficulty with reading comprehension, I'm then doubly concerned with having him in the game.
DOES JIGGERNUTS EVEN UNDERSTAND ENGLISH?
HOW DID HE FIND THE MAFIA FORUMS ANYWAY?
HOW DOES THIS IMPACT OUR OWN LIVES?
Are you sure he's not actually a gimmick?
Kahedron: Gotta get through RVS somehow, right?
Since these two posts address the same question, I would like to address something.
My campaign manager (Matt Rhoades, big props to him), dug up some research about Jiggernuts.
First of all, he is posting under an IP located in America, even though he is claiming to be Korean. I'm running for office for Pete's sake, we can't have illegals.
Second, he noticed these two posts in the signup thread:
hello it is be jiggernuts. it is back from korea good!
i will like to play please?
/in
From these two incriminating pieces of evidence, Rhoades concluded that he must be a gimmick of Brofaux, who is currently located in America.
Brofaux's meta points to only one game (Club Flamingo Mafia, which is apparently a gay bar and club in Pontiac, Michigan - a state which I won. I don't discriminate.)
I encourage people to look at that game if they want to form a meta case on him.
Care on providing content? Too much "spam", as they call it (I'm getting five to ten as much social spam than my other compatriots) can hinder the ability to catch scum. Case in point: See Starcraft Mafia, a game where two players got spam warnings. The mafia pulled out a scum victory - I do not want the same thing to happen in this game.
I also do not like Jiggernuts' posts as well, for the same reasons.
#1: Gets angry sounding and tells jiggs that meggido isn't in the game. #2: Complains about the number of gimmicks. #3: Explains to jiggs what a gimmick is. Asks presidents to contribute. #4: Acknowledges Kahedron's mentioning him. Responds to Rick Santorum, jumping into the jiggs conversation. Says he doesn't think Jiggs' posting style is a scumtell. #5: Talks some more about jiggs not being too english and that he might be confused about where he is. #6: Agrees with bolly when he says he is getting bored of the game because of the gimmicks. Tells jiggs he is going too far with his being wacky and korean. #7: Says he doesn't have a mentor #8: Complains about other players being non-contributive or silly. #9: Shoots an FoS at Arcanine for wagonning onto jiggs. Says jiggs(brofaux) is a familiar face and he is happy to see him.
So the first thing I've got to say is that Zeld seems more interested in jiggs than the average bear. seven out of nine posts mention jiggs, with the other two being essentially non-content. Scolding tone towards him right off the bat, defending him even when someone doesn't really attack him at all, and then responding to a wagon on him with an FoS makes the relationship seem a bit close to me.
The "too far" post is also a bit weird to me, since it seems to imply that Zeld knew jiggs was putting on an act, but that was before he was "outed" by Mitt Romney. Probably just reading that one wrong though.
Second thing is that he complains about contributing and the state of the game a lot without doing much himself. The only things he's done that are vaguely related to player's alignments is saying jiggs' posting style isn't a scumtell, and his most recent FoS on arcanine. That's suspicious to me mostly in contrast to the number of posts he's made. He's talking a lot, but he's not saying anything.
He hasn't even casted a vote yet. The FoS on Arcanine instead of a vote is possibly him playing it safe when there's no real danger anywhere.
So basically:
1: Weird relationship with jiggs
2: Too eager to make talky posts
3: Complains about the game without doing anything to fix it
4: Seemingly afraid to vote

1: Jiggs is Brofaux. We played in a forum game a while back, during the summer I think, and our team got pretty close over the couple weeks we played. We'd dick around and talk card dev for longass periods of time, etc. Jiggs, who I now know is a gimmick, was responsible for all sorts of antics that I remember vividly.
2: Whatever you say
3: Like Voting for someone because he knows people who are in the game with him?
4: Or maybe I don't think it was a severe enough scumtell to warrant a lynch? Is it possible that some players feel it's important enough to discuss a player's supposed scumtell, assess their reaction and then decide to proceed?
But yes, I knew Jiggs was a Gimmick. He and I had a (one hundred percent non mafia related, I swear to you. He made a joke about his Engrish, and I proceeded to guess who he's a gimmick of) conversation in PM, and he admitted to being a gimmick.
For all your talk of me going "too far," you're going pretty overboard yourself. At the time I had the conversation with Mr. SweaterVest (Rick), I had no idea Jiggs was a gimmick (though I was starting to have suspicions), and was genuinely worried that he wouldn't be able to play to the best of his ability. The reason I didn't think his posting style was a scumtell is because, as I said, I didn't think english was even his first language, or one he spoke well.
So let me explain each of the posts you so kindly referenced, and this time, without deliberately exaggerating them to make me sound like a blubbering idiot who is conspiring with Jiggernuts to bring down the Republican Presidential Race.
1: Actually, I was laughing, for a lot of reasons I've already explained. It was just a hilarious reminder of the forum game (Magic Wars).
2: It looked like there were at least four, and I honestly couldn't tell if you and Arcanine were gimmicks or not, given all the RVS nonsense. I know now that all are capable of contributing (even if one of them is somewhat paranoid).
3: Jiggs asked, and I was still confident that he was just a South Korean know-nothing. But no, I didn't asked them to contribute (it was still RVS, I didn't really give a damn). I was wondering if they intended to play some mafia; and they've shown that they do.
4: What about it? I responded to an RVS stage goof, and had some conversation about Jiggs (whether or not he was fit to play was kind of the topic of discussion).
5: Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I said. Problem?
6: At that point, none of the presidents were playing Mafia, as far as I knew. I had just discovered that Jiggs was a gimmick, so I joked about how ridiculous it was getting.
7: Because someone asked
8: I guess. The RVS was dragging out a little long, and I was ready to get the game in gear.
9: Yes. That's exactly what I did. I stand behind the FoS, and yes, Brofaux is a familiar face, and it's good to see him.
There you go. I addressed all of your ridiculous "points." Any reason you feel the need to be ridiculously aggressive out of the gate, based almost entirely on RVS banter?
Because inanity might not be a scumtell, but it's certainly anti-town.
So, you were doing it as a Policy Lynch, because Jiggernuts was sort of obstructing the game, even though others were considering replacing him- not lynching him. Can I ask how many games of forum mafia you've played before this? I wanna know if you should have known better.

Not many. Of the few that I've played, at least half of them took place 5+ years ago.
I don't see anything wrong with pressuring someone into taking the game seriously.

I'll take your word on that.
No, but I don't think that a bandwagon is the way to go. A lynch based on policy (anything that's not based on behavioral analysis, investigations, deductive reasoning, etc) is always a bad lynch. (there are some policies for lynching, but these are all based off of strong scumtells.)

I don't think anyone has provided enough (i.e. any) evidence of being scum for me to suspect them. He seemed like the least useful person in the game at the time for the town; I don't see why voting for someone who refuses to contribute makes less sense than randomly voting.

It makes more sense than randomly voting, but I don't think that a game of mafia should ever come down to anything near the quality of a random vote.
Anyway, given the way the conversations are going, I think we'll have a fairly solid lynch in a five days to a week, depending on how the pace holds.
The first day isn't generally full of legitimate scumtells. I wouldn't be that surprised if we ended up with a pseudo-random vote. I'd like very much to avoid that, though.
The only way anything is going to happen is if we actually /do/ something.

At least somebody agrees with my positions.
I would be surprised if we had to pseudo-randomly vote. You are aware that we're out of RVS by now, right? All of these posts just now can be examined for content.
I'd like some evidence as to how successful they are generally so I have an idea of whether or not they are "psudo-random". I should probably wait to research this until after this game ends, so that I don't waste the town's time.
His exchange with Bulbasaur doesn't sit well with me, entirely. The odds that he's just town standing up for a village idiot are high, but he could very well just be scum trying to defuse the potential lynch of a teammate.
The former is much more likely, but if Jig came up scum, I might reconsider giving Zeld the benefit of the doubt.
I think it's too early to call Jig scum. Far too early to even consider it. The broken-english posts were obviously a joke, so I hope he plays properly now.
I don't think he has any more chance of being scum than anyone else. As long as he plays like a normal person, I don't see any reason to pressure a vote on him.

All my defense of Jiggs was because I legitimately thought he was a lost South Korean with horrible english. You didn't notice the posts where I wondered if he was actually fit to play? Can I ask what part of that exchange doesn't sit right with you?

Bulb is there any particular reason why you want to rush this game along?
We are still waiting on a couple of people to check in once the game has started and you already have a solid read on a player. From the single conversation that has been had about a third party.

I actually misread what was happening and missed that he was defending jiggernuts rather than attacking him somehow . So I do follow what you are saying.
I buy that Zelderex actually thought Jiggernuts was foreign though. Zelderex doesn't know it yet but I know both of them.

Sincere apologies for my earlier clowning post. I'd edit it but, you know, not allowed
can we get a mulligan here?
So we're still waiting on one player, but otherwise things are moving alone.
Kahedron has a mentor for this game. Does anybody else? I'm not sure how relevant it is but I'd like to know.

You got it the wrong way round. Bolly has a mentor who I have a history with. I am stepping out into the wide unknown with no safety net or cat again.
Would be nice if a couple more people would check in now the game has actually started. Be a bit boring otherwise.

If he's town, mafia certainly won't lynch him and we might end up having him in a Ly-Lo situation, which would be terrible.

Who have we got lurking?
Chances of hitting scum are low, yes, since there aren't many opportunities for them to slip.
However, even if we do miss, the information provided for D2 outweighs the loss of a town member.
A D1 no lynch gives us very little info.
That is something, at least.
