Good to see you all my buddies.
I am up for a mass claim, I'll keep track of all CC votes if no one else wants to.
Now my scumdar is just beeping as normal, nothing popping up.
I can understand the people against massclaim, but in our current set up, it would be WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more helpful for us.
Also I don't
Remember the mass claim in Shrek mafia to be that helpful, which doesn't help with my bias against them.
That was a Basic. This is a FTQ. You couldn't get much further apart in terms of game complexity. The key reason mass-claims are more beneficial in more complex games is because game mechanics have a much larger impact on the end result than in simpler games. And scum naturally have an advantage in this area due to the nature of the informed minority (esp. if said minority has special abilities exclusive to the setup that the town is unaware of). A Day One mass-claim in a Specialty-level game forces the scum to keep all of the moving parts of their claims in line with town consensus or face swift retribution. In a Basic half of the players have no abilities so there's nothing to keep track of to keep people honest.
I'm glad you're thinking through what the scum players' strategy will be - I think?
I'm just rehashing what other players (Emo_Pinata, atlseal, possibly more) have been saying. It seems obvious that the scum are going to benefit from coordination of their votes while the town has no way to do so without knowledge of what kinds of roles need protecting or investigating, etc.
Liking atlseal & Puddlejumper for town.
Liking Reya Cookiebringer & Squeege for scum.
I do, however, think it's worthwhile to try to prevent the terrible concept of a massclaim from getting any real traction, so I will keep up my opposition to that idea.
On the bright side, for you: I truly believe you believe that it is a mistake, which is +townie points for you. That is, unlike Yanni who seems very easily swayed.

Here's an exlpanation for my massclaim reasons.
Ok, we might have a vanilla here or there, but probably not, all of our roles are complex roles, and if we play it out right, we can catch scum when they mess up, then smack them for it.
So then we know who to do to what, and how to carefully play our actions.
On the bright side, for you: I truly believe you believe that it is a mistake, which is +townie points for you. That is, unlike Yanni who seems very easily swayed.
Having very recently played a game with Yanni where he turned up town; I'm going with that being his nature in general. He never managed to hold an opinion for longer than two consecutive posts.
Wit's End is the PERFECT answer to your opponent's Monomania however.
Just hold on to your Wit's End when they Monomania, so you can Wit's End them on your next turn!!!
I think this is fairly reminiscent of the "Jace Battles" we have seen in past standards.. My guess is we will soon witness the great Monomania-Wit's End battles.

You get the point, be sure to bold. Is this okay with you gigas?
It shold be 13 to agree, considering we agreed a 2/3 majority for votecounts so the mafia couldn't sway the game with post related roles. Vote Massclaim: Yes
To answer the second poster of this page. Altseal broght up some good points I did not think of. I've been in 1 game when a massclaim happened, then I was modkilled, so I have a very shaky opinion of massclaiming. This could work for this game.

Well, a majority would guarantee that the vote goes as planned (assuming all the townies go along with the agreed-upon vote to prevent scum interference). I'm just stating that it's not explicitly necessary to have a majority for the game mechanics to work as listed. Not really worth mentioning in retrospect, if we do publicly vote for these things like we seem to be doing.

I'm not liking JTM's posts. He jumped in on counting the votes, and it feels like trying to be "helpful" without actually contributing to the detection of scum. I also really didn't like this post:
So maybe make something like, after lynch during twilight, we post which one we are voting for and who. Ok with everyone?
This is a terrible plan. It assumes that there is a twilight, that it lasts long enough for everyone to weigh in, and that votes cast during twilight count - and then it still leaves people potentially voting for different abilities, resulting in scum being able to control the vote.
Coordinating abilities needs to happen before the lynch, and once we've reached an accord, everyone - not just a bare majority - should be voting for the selected set of abilities.
I keep hearing that they're a bad choice, but I think I've only been involved in 1. Therefore I don't feel I have the experience with them that I should in order to have a valid opinion in the argument.
As far as game experience, I believe this is number 7 for me, 4 completed 3 in progress. Maybe I should start keeping track.
I have never been involved with a day 1 massclaim (I think?), but I have an opinion about it. Day 1 massclaims are rare (as they're only a good idea in very specific setups), so most people here probably aren't too experienced with them.
So, what's your opinion (even if you don't think it's valid)?

Woops? Knew I should have thought that one through more carefully.
We should all be cagey about our scum reads. Our victory will be assured!
In other news, we're now in the ultra ultra late game at 80+ posts. You're continuing refusal to share your dirt at this late stage of the game is increasingly unjustified. Inquiring minds want to know: just what is it that puddlejumper has to hide?
Ok, and the award goes to Azrael for being super comedic while scum hunting at the same time. ;).
1. He is a power role we need to keep alive
2. He is scum
3. He is just a vanilla trying not to distract you.

I think a more pertinent question is, what don't I have to hide? Going through my posts thus far would suggest that the answer to that is 'very little.'
Sir, I will have you know that I conducted a lengthy and indepth post by post analysis of your history in this game, and I have concluded, that despite having the highest number of posts in this very thread, you have yet to post a scum read.
That, sir, is criminal. I denounce you for the dastardly backstabbing villain that you are, and I demand THE TRUTH.
Dang, that's a reference to something, but I can't seem to think what it's from.
I'll make you a deal, let me make a read on you, and I'll tell you whether or not you're scum.
Why are you picking on Puddle Azrael? half the people here haven't done a scum/town thing yet. AND 80 POSTS IS LATE GAME?... 0_o

Well, that's not true. He called both Yanni and Archonoid scum. Although if you're talking justifying a read, he hasn't done that at all yet.
His conversation is taking us somewhere, regardless, so I'm interested in seeing where he goes from here.
Not keeping up with the thread already, while we're still under 100 pages, hmm? That bodes well.
That's actually scum read #4, for anyone at home who's counting.
Y'all better step it up, because there aren't going to be many of them left for the rest of ya before too long.
Huh? No one's stopping you from making a read on me. As for Yanni, I'd like to hear why HE think he's on my list.
