Wanted to pop by and publicly compliment Dagger for the flavor in this game. Very macabre and creepy. Much appreciated. Vaguely reminded me of 13 Ghosts, which I consider a good thing

My Clan Is Dead.... Long Live The Izzet! Johnny, born and raised. Always lookin' for the Next Level Combo. Thanks to Bornover of FHLS for the banner!
Seperiel- It was my idea. I wanted you dead n1 actually, hoping that pinkflyod would get lynched the next day. As for the particulars of me wanting you dead, you seemed like gigas' mason buddy, and I feared you because you seemed like one of the more experienced members in this game, and I wanted o get all the biggies out, which, in the end, was the towns main downfall.
I see... you are giving me far too much credit though
IUD- I got the feeling you knew what you were doing, but I'm a bit disappointed you never actually did much here.
Agreed.
kill-joy- Haha, I liked you. From n1 I said that I didn't want you killed. You were good. To bad I couldn't get you lynched...
I was honestly thinking kill-joy might be a set up, he looked kinda scummy early game due to his interactions with Mu but at the same time i kept getting 'red herring' gut feel since i cannot see any scum acting that scummy and their buddies not bussing.
Scaruis- POST MORE!!!
x10 to the power of 100.
Gigas- Ditto.
Giga's Lynch pissed me off so hard i kinda gave up hope when that happened.
Sir Mu- You realize that you kinda messed this game up for the town, right? And I need you to pick out my avvie, you won the bet.
Anything i had to say i already said it in spectator chat.
Anyways, good game! I love being scum, though like Yanni said, I'm surprised none of you picked up on me until the very end.
Personally i am not a fan of cross game checking (although i do mention it if i mentor since i know not all playstyle's have a problem with it), i prefer to base my reads on people based upon actual experience with the person which is why i didn't pick on anything early on.

Actually, in the very beginning when you were talking about lynching pinky I kinda got scared. It was fun playing with you though I was cracking up when I read most of your posts.
First google image search result of pony. I thought it was fitting.
Can't say I played fantastic. But even if I wind up getting lynched, I was confident in my buddies to gain a ton of townie cred from it, and win the game from there. So, worst case scenario, I die and we still win. So I was okay with it.
Fun game though everyone. We went nearly replacement free I think too right? Only one? Impressive,

I also think it was one of the fastest games, but I could be wrong.
Unvote. Vote: Tezzeret12: I started thinking you were scum somewhere around "Why me=Fry me". But I was so sure about NA that I thought I could put you off for a day. Unvote. Vote: Anak:I thought you were scummy because you seemed to be trying to validate tezz's bad posts on me. And the "too helpful townie" thing as well. (Is that actually a scumtell, or did you make that up?) Unvote. Vote: Pinky: I thought you were town. If you and I made it to a 3 person endgame, and the other person wasn't IUD... I prolly would have voted the other guy. I was tunneled hard that you were town. Unvote. Vote: Scarius: A few points of advice. Firstly, the reason everyone thought you were scum... was because you posted little to no content. If someone posts in a way that other player's can't see what they're thinking, those posts tend to be scummy. Secondly, never vote without a reason. The reasons you gave weren't really all that good, so we had to assume you were scum. Also, you seemed to be avoiding answering questions. Unvote. Vote: IUD: Was confirmed town when we realized you were the other mason. Unvote. Vote Sir Mux: Oh Mu. There's really nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. I am wondering though... did you actually have reasons about Pinky, NA, and Anak? Or was it all random? I was surprised that you weren't the other mason, actually. After your intereactions with Gigas day 1, I thought the other one was you. Unvote. Vote: Pinkfloyd: WHY YOU SO SCUMMY?? lol. Your town play is hella scummy. You're very reactionary. Now I know that. Unvote. Vote: Gigas: Your death was one big cluster...bunny. I wish you hadn't died. You/The Masons really were our best asset. Unvote. Vote: Sepriel: You played well. I wish you survived longer though. You had experiance that the town lacked. Unvote. Vote: NightArcher: Sorry for lynching you, dude. You were just... there was just a lot of stuff against you I guess. Unvote. Vote: Willow: You didn't do a whole lot except get the town to claim. That helped I guess.
It was nice playing with everyone. This was a great learning experiance!
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
In my view (yes I was scum but even I can look at it from an outside observer) you were pro-town. the case from Tezz against you was bad in my eyes.
Also I did not plan on hammer voting Gigas. I hate hammer voting as town or scum. There are a few times I enjoy hammering as scum that one was a bad, bad hammer from me.
I always hate playing scum. It takes me a few days to really get a flow and look like I'm scum hunting.
Some things were just hard to ignore (anak's), other times I felt myself biting my tongue because last day even I was seeing Tezz as scummy.
NA made it easy for me to use by tunneling on Sir Mu and Gigas, while ignoring Anak's.

I just throw around anything I feel like throwing around, usually based on my gut, sometimes based on nothing at all. This serves a dual purpose:
1) It makes me look scummy. Most people would think that looking scummy is a bad thing, and it is. That is, if it's not intentional. Doing this allows me to stay alive through the night, as scum don't want to waste a night kill on someone they feel like they can get lynched. It also allows me to explain away my scummy behavior when push comes to shove, so I don't get lynched. Oh, and seeing how people treat someone acting scummy is great for alignment reads.
2) Sets the accused on edge; town or scum, people react negatively to being called out on scummy behavior or incorrect thinking. When people are on edge, it's generally easier to gets reads. Not on them, mind you, but on the people around them. If you see an angry guy in a department store, you'll know more about the employee handling him than the angry guy.
I should note that it was not this behavior that got me lynched; out of the two other games I have completed, I used it there as well, and survived to end game both times, although in one of them (Twilight Mafia) it did unfortunately lead to a speed lynch of me by one of my set-on-edge targets before I could take out the master stroke. You live you learn, I guess. Anyway, what got me lynched this game was a third behavior that I went into the game to intentionally perform, as testing. High-and-mighty, I-know-all, ******* playstyle. It sort of mixed with my normal strategy to kick that up to 11 as well, as I flung out a lot more baseless attacks than I usually do. I know now for the future.
Oh, and a funny tidbit of info about my usual playstyle; the more people that use it, the less effective it is. While it increases personal knowledge, it decreases the knowledge of other players, as the basis of it is a lie, typically the tool of scum. It's give and take, and you don't typically leave the town with much information if you die.

You would think that, but the other game I referred to made both of those a non-factor in every way, and this idea still bloomed and I really don't know why. There has to be more to it than that.

I stared grimly at pinkfloyd’s back. Speak of the devil, and he appeared in front of me. He seemed preoccupied however, looking around as if searching for someone or something.
It mattered not.
My grip on the hammer tightened. I lick on my suddenly too dry lips. I was about to murder another person.
Aim for the head. Aim for the head. Aim for the head.
The first blow staggered pinkfloyd around in surprise. His mouth was agape. He looked stunned. He cradled his suddenly bloodied head.
“Wha-” was all he managed to get out before the second blow caved in the front of his skull.
My breath hitched and I felt like vomiting.
But I persisted. And I hammered. And hammered. And hammered.
And with every hit, I felt my humanity permanently chipped away bit by bit.

You have successfully watched Anaklusmos: No one else targeted him tonight.
You have been killed.
There was a trickle of red running down the baseball bat.
I breathed heavily, staring at it.
I hesitated.
No, I could not... cannot do it.
Sepiriel lay unconscious on the bathroom’s floor.
It was his misfortune that I caught him here unaware.
But I could not proceed further.
Spying the water hose, I thought, there was another way.
Oh and I watched anak night one, and I watched him kill me D:
Did I? I didn't mean to convey that, though in retrospect, it must have been obvious. -_-
And now,
onwards to the game.
1. No daytalk this time. Learned my lessons from #26. >_>
2. Again, generic role PMs. Seems like the best way to handle a Basic.
3. Thanks to Eco and ZDS for hammering out with me the setup for this Basic. I cannot believe I have more problems designing a Basic as compared to a standard normal/specialty game.
4. Masons are fun. First time I have really used one in a game design. Also, with no Roleblocker on the Mafia's side and only Masons on the Town's, the Watcher is essentially a full cop, if he aimed correctly.
5. Having masons coincidentally, is the main reason I am not including Mentors in this Basic. The last thing I wanted was for Mentors to supersede the Masons in this game. I wanted chatting and discussion between masons, not just as a method of confirmation on alignment. The second thing is that Mentors role are vague enough that I am not really comfortable in including them. Certain things like being pressured with no one to rely on, relying on own's read and judgment, and generally bumbling around learning the ropes on the fly are something I considered vital in the development of a new mafia player, and having what essentially were minor mason groups feels wrong to me. This is personal opinion however. I am sure as time passes by, the role of Mentor will be refined further.
6. I am not really happy with the flavor writing for this game. The switch to the pronoun "I" was awkward for me, as compared to "you". But it was something I wanted to try to induce a more immersing experience. Not that it actually works better. I think I will stick to "you" in the future. Also, the lack of time available to spend on flavor writing also contributed, which was ironic considering the only power role in the game is the Watcher and the Mafia performing the mafiakill. I hope the ending flavors more than make up for them.
7. Also, this is probably the last time I will host a Basic. I will stick to more interesting and less restrictive projects from now on.
Now, onto the game itself.
1. Sir Mu started off as he did made me wonder for a tense moment whether I handed out the role PMs wrongly. At any rate, it was funny seeing him go at it, though the newer players might possibly find it distracting and irritating. I enjoyed it however.
2. Gigas' lynch was a lynch that should not have happened, considering his claim. Still, considering the last 3 votes on him were actually from the Mafia, it might actually be a valid lynch. Of course we know the Mafia will deny it. Still, the town lost one day based on it, and two power roles, since the Watcher was killed the very same night.
3. The game's speed is very fast, which I approve.
4. At one point of time near the endgame, only the 3 mafiosos were actually posting in the game thread, chatting among each others, plotting the day's lynch for the town. Congrats for a perfect victory, again.
5. Many thanks to Sir Mu and Weeping Willow for replacing in. I owe you both one.
6. Did I miss anything else? Oh, thanks to everyone for playing, btw. Having you around made my day.

We do actually, although unfortunately for you, I don't tend to hand out MVPs as a mod.
Feel free to vote on MVPs among yourselves however.
We'll make you an offer you can't refuse.
