Lynch Mechanic
1. Votes should be bolded for them to apply in the game. E.g. Vote: Dagger
2. Unvotes should be bolded for them to apply in the game. E.g. Unvote: Dagger
3. You may Vote: No Lynch to end the current Day phase without lynching a player.
4. Unvoting a player first before voting another player is not necessary, but is appreciated and will put you in my good book.
5. Lynch will occur with a simple majority of votes. This is irreversible.
6. If a deadline is set, lynch will occur on the player with the highest number of votes at the deadline. If there is a tie, lynch will occur on the player who reaches that number of votes first. If there is no vote at all, No Lynch will occur.
Action Choices
1. There are two phases in this game: Day and Night.
2. There is a deadline for action choices. Abide by it. Any player who misses it will be counted as not submitting any action for that current phase, and will be put into my bad book.
3. Choices can be sent in advance if you won’t be available during the coming phase.
4. Any action choice is to be sent to me via PM, my preferred method of bookkeeping, and should have this game’s name in its title and the current phase listed. E.g. Conflux Mafia Night 2
Upon the threat of replacement or modkill or blacklisting
1. Do not communicate, discuss, or even hint about this game with each other or with people outside of this game at all, unless your role explicitly gives you permission. This applies even when you are dead, unless permitted by me. I am the only person you can speak to.
2. Direct quoting or minor paraphrasing of your role PM or any PM at all from me is expressly forbidden. The same threat holds if you ask other players to do the same.
3. Modifying or deleting your posts in the game thread is expressly forbidden.
4. Posting in the game thread during the Night phase is expressly forbidden.
5. If you are dead, posting in the game thread is expressly forbidden. I will tolerate a “Bah” post on the condition there is no relevant information being conveyed to the living players, explicitly or implicitly.
6. Inform the game thread or me if you will be unavailable for more than a 72-hour period. No activity for the same period of time without prior notice will result in a prod being sent. Failure to respond to the prod is not optional.
7. Crypto-claiming and its variants are expressly forbidden.
8. Outing or revealing your scum mates, whether faked or otherwise, is expressly forbidden.
Miscellaneous
1. Please consult with me if you have any doubt or query. Better be safe than wrong. I don’t bite… much.
2. Any request to be made of me in the game thread is to be bolded.
3. Any request to be made of me in the PM should have this game’s name in its title.
4. Respect the Mod, the players, and the Forum Rules. This is not optional.
5. Have fun! This is not optional.
Items
1. Items cannot be transferred to another player unless permitted by the items themselves. Casting the lynching vote on another player or killing another player with a non-lynching action does not give you any item(s) from that player.
2. Abilities of items belonging to a dead player or discarded due to actions are revealed and relegated to the Discarded Items List.
3. Using one-shot items will cause those items to gain the Exhausted status. Items that gain the Exhausted status are kept in a player’s Inventory and not discarded. Abilities of items with Exhausted status are nullified and cannot be used until the end of game or until the status is removed.
4. There are three categories of items: “Artifact”, “Spell” and “Follower”. Rules governing each category of items are the same.
5. The following are keyworded traits that may be found on items: Day – This item can only be used during the Day. Night – This item can only be used during the Night. Concurrent – This item can be used in addition to another action. Discard – This item has to be discarded when used. One-shot – This item will gain Exhausted status when used. Transferable – This item may be given to another player at night in place of an action. Items with Exhausted status cannot be transferred.
Vulnerability
1. Vulnerability is a special player status in this game.
2. Vulnerability is a status that will harm your team far more than the opposing one.
3. Vulnerability can only be imposed onto a player via in-game actions.
4. Vulnerability status will only be told to the player who gained it.
*In case this is not clear, do note that this is a full reveal game. If you die, your role PM will be revealed in the game thread. Every item discarded is also revealed in the game thread.
Name: Dagger Alignment: Town Title: The Moderator Domain: A Moderator is the ultimate Arbiter, a position acknowledged worldwide as the definitive impartial intermediatery between the world’s major powers. Trained from birth in the arts of diplomacy and politics, and with both personality and mental conditioning, a Moderator’s first and only duty is to the world itself. And in times of great crisis, to facilitate its safety. Win Condition: Eliminate the scums.
~~~ Name: jskura Alignment: Town Title: The High Abbot Domain: The Iris Monasteries are sacred places that house the most exotic of all living creations, the Goo. From dawn to dusk, serenaded by thousands of soothing chants from the Monks, the hundreds of tiny multicolored bouncing blobs living there would preened excitedly at the attention they obtained from everyone, especially the tourists. Win Condition: Eliminate the scums.
~~~ Name: creampuffeater Alignment: Town Title: The Director Domain: The Corporations operate with the efficiency of a well-oiled machine, all cold logic and data streaming in sequence. They serve as the technological hubs of the world, even dipping their hands into researches outright forbidden in every other field in the name of progress. There are whispers of many a missing person report being linked to them. Win Condition: Eliminate the scums.
~~~ Name: desCoures Alignment: Town Title: The Guildmaster Domain: If there is power in numbers, then a guild would be the penultimate symbol of that power. The next logical step then would be the Workers Union, the ultimate incarnation where numbers are indeed strength, where all the guilds are combined into a single frightening mass of workers demanding their rights and going on strikes. Destruction is optional. Win Condition: Eliminate the scums.
~~~ Name: Wrath of Dog Alignment: Town Title: The Oracle Domain: Above the highest peak under the sea of stars stand the Observatories, a place of worship to the Sight as well as a center of learning on the movement of heavens. So profound was their understanding of the charts of fates that they are often sought out whenever great world events occur, calamitous or otherwise. WinCondition: Eliminate the scums.
~~~ Name: AlphaInsidious Alignment: Mafia Title: The Pirate King Domain: Standing in the crow’s nest of your main warship, you looked out over your world. A violent vista of blue topped with frothing waves, ripped through by a fleet of warships with flocks of seagulls and schools of dolphins as constant companions. And you see a dream of gold and gems and ale and blades and blood overflowing. Win Condition: Mafia must be equal to or more than non-Mafia.
~~~ Name: dropkickdude Alignment: Mafia Title: The Dark Patriarch Domain: Assassination is an art of the greatest finesse. The amount of discipline it requires. The knowledge of the blades unparallel to any others. The mindset honed to such perfection. The stench of blood pervades every breath. The cloak of shadows wrapped like a second skin. The lives extinguished without a single blink. That is the creed. Win Condition: Mafia must be equal to or more than non-Mafia.
~~~ Name: DYH Alignment: Town Title: The Merchant Prince Domain: The Merchant Guilds are a force to be reckoned with due to the amount of wealth they command. If there are clinks of gold to be heard, rest assured their influence will be keenly felt there. It is a pity among people equally wealthy but with far more authority, you are relegated to a less prestigious position. Win Condition: Eliminate the scums.
~~~ Name: Infinis Alignment: Town Title: The Keeper of Secrets Domain: There is a secret sect of magicians that live in the wilds, dedicating their lives to uncovering the truth of existence. Their communion with nature is so potent that nothing could be hidden or kept from their reach for long. Unfortunately, their secrecy is so paramount that everyone knows about the existence of the secret, if not its nature. Win Condition: Eliminate the scums.
~~~ Name: RobRoy Alignment: Mafia Title: The Divine Voice Domain: The Holy Tabernacles are the voices of heavens, linking the hope and prayers of the billions to the Divinities above. With such an encompassing grip upon the entire world’s faith and belief, they are a power in their own right, and one that equally affects the common folk as well as the upper classes. Win Condition: Mafia must be equal to or more than non-Mafia.
~~~ Name: Shalako Alignment: Mafia Title: The Emperor Domain: The lineage of the Emperors is the birthright of Heavens, with each successive holder of the Golden Throne anointed by the Mandate handed down from fathers to sons, unbroken through the generations. Their blood is divine and their rule absolute. Long live the Empire, most sacred of kingdoms, and may their blood hold true and pure for all eternity. Win Condition: Mafia must be equal to or more than non-Mafia.
~~~ Name: Wolf with a Bass Alignment: Town Title: The Monarch Domain: The Monarchy is one of the major political powers in the world. It is also the most ancient and longest lasting of all established political realms, richly steeped in cultural history and traditions. For those more informed, it is also the place where one is most likely to obtain esoteric items as well as obscure rituals. Win Condition: Eliminate the scums.
~~~ Name: Ecophagy Alignment: Mafia Title: The Forgemaster Domain: Artificers, Blacksmiths, Sculptors and a half dozen other crafting professions collectively have the title of Forgemaster as their most esteemed and prestigious honor. Sadly, this often causes those conferred the title to be fully immersed in being a spokesperson dealing with political and economic affairs instead rather than continuing the crafts they love so much. Win Condition: Mafia must be equal to or more than non-Mafia.
Artifact: White Mask Note: A simple white half-mask, designed more of a ritualistic tradition and less of a fashion statement. While it looks rather wicked and mysterious when worn, it is mainly used to cover one’s face rather than as a magical instrument of death or destruction. There is nary a single trace of magic on it other than its smell. Ability: None.
~~~ Follower: White Goo Note: Arguably the cutest among all species of Goo, there are tons of reports of a general sense of wellness and serenity when this Goo is staring at you with its cute little moist eyes that just seem to pummel whatever ill intents and harmful feelings you possess into submission and beyond. Ability: One-shot, Night, each player targeting you tonight will be protected from all kills.
~~~ Follower: Green Goo Note: The ultimate secret spy – tiny, cute, green, and bounce a lot. No one knows why but this species of Goo just excels at digging out dirt on people. In fact, there are rumors going around that it is the only Goo species being used in intelligence services. You didn’t hear that from us, of course. Ability: One-shot, Night, name of each player targeting you tonight will be revealed to you.
~~~ Follower: Black Goo Note: The ultimate watchdog, even more of a watchdog as compared to a real watchdog, this species of Goo is known to be extremely vigilant against any and all intruders attempting to invade its owner’s house. It is awfully unnerving when stumbling into a lightless area and seeing an entire wall of darkness blinking their eyes at you. Ability: One-shot, Night, each player targeting you tonight will be immune from all non-kill effects.
~~~ Follower: Red Goo Note: The most protective and violent among all species of Goo, it has an almost paranoid and psychopathic tendency towards whomever it perceived to be threatening against its owner. In all actuality, this is the only species of Goo with reports of lethal attacks against humans, a most surprising fact considering its physical attributes. Ability: One-shot, Night, each player killing you tonight will also die.
~~~ Artifact: The Monocle Note: It is big and round, with a golden frame to kill for and a capacity to glint off light in such a manner as to make you seem highly dangerous. You delighted in the fact that whenever you brought it out to use it, everyone else shuddered in fear of you. Tragically, its primary function is purely aesthetic. Ability: None.
~~~ Follower: Subject J Note: Highly dexterous and nimble, subject has been noted to be able to sneak past all securities guarding a certain position in order to determine all articles being held there. The ease in which it adapted to such a task suggested previous experience. May be pushed to obtain more information out of infiltration but will be rendered null after. Ability: Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Artifacts. One-shot, you may immediately follow up to determine the abilities of all the listed Artifacts and whether they are Exhausted before the Day is over.
~~~ Follower: Subject K Note: Talented unnaturally so in mind infiltration, subject has a sight limitation and a working range of up to half a mile. A delicate procedure still in experimental stage, so restriction to casual brushing of thought surfaces is suggested for repeated usage. A more straining and deadly variant may dig out more conclusive results, though highly dangerous to subject. Ability: Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Spells. One-shot, you may immediately follow up to determine the abilities of all the listed Spells and whether they are Exhausted before the Day is over.
~~~ Follower: Subject T Note: Subject has been noted to have an almost unnatural sway with other people. Side effects of the combination of drugs and training has given it an almost hypnotic-like persuasion skill that has been confirmed to manipulate subconscious brainwaves of all living entities. Powers are still at preliminary stages and attempts to enhance them are ill-advised without further data. Ability: Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Followers. One-shot, you may immediately follow up to determine the abilities of all the listed Followers and whether they are Exhausted before the Day is over.
~~~ Artifact: Crest of Conviction Note: A symbol of office where the faith of millions are placed onto your shoulders. With the heavy burden of such responsibility on your shoulders, how can you even fail? Or falter? Or even show the tiniest hint of weakness? For were you to fail, who else can these millions look up to? Ability: Transferable, you cannot gain Vulnerability status. Whenever you receive this, if you have Vulnerability status, remove the status.
~~~ Artifact: Ancient Ledger Note: A weathered yellowed script of ancient papers that looks set to crumble the moment someone breathes on it. As far as you can ascertain, it has a divinatory purpose though you doubt you should actually use it. Divination is a tricky business. What if the result stuns you so much that you accidentally destroys such a priceless antique? Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Day, you will be told the number of non-discarded items in the game with Exhausted and non-Exhausted given as separate numbers.
~~~ Spell: Secret Note: Being weak is not something one likes to air to the public. And a great many people would take great steps and lengths just to ensure that secret will be taken to their graves with them. But if you do not know where they are, how else can you help them? Unfortunately, this divinatory ritual is rather loud. Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Day, reveal all players with Vulnerability status in the game thread.
~~~ Spell: Representative Note: When the weak falter, the strong shall rise in their stead. It does not really matter if the weak protest such a notion, for is it not the strong’s obligation to graciously guide them? This calling spell will immediately identify all the players afflicted with weakness and allow you to act on their behalf. Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Day, all players with Vulnerability status will be informed of their loss of votes and you gain that many votes for the day.
~~~ Spell: Mindsight Note: A very powerful invasionary mind magic that duplicates the exact workings of another spell right out of an unwilling mind. The incantations to initiate this magic is very exhaustive however to both magical reserve and strength, and will most likely kill you if not enough time has passed in between casting to recuperate both. Ability: One-shot, Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Spells. If that player has any Spell, you gain a copy of that Spell permanently. If that player has more than one Spells, you gain a copy of one of those Spells of your choice permanently.
~~~ Follower: Thousand-Face Servant (Exhausted) Note: A most skillful servant, it is a master of disguises with a thousand faces. So adept is it in the arts of mimicry that it can become anyone of any talent and training. Though to fully immerse itself into such a deception, it must abandon all pretenses of its original nature, and that can be difficult to return from. Ability: One-shot, Discard, Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Followers. If that player has any Follower, you gain a copy of that Follower permanently. If that player has more than one Followers, you gain a copy of one of those Followers of your choice permanently.
~~~ Artifact: Spyglass Note: A simple enough equipment, made from a series of interlocking metal tubes inserted with focusing lenses. It can be used to observe someone from far away without that person ever noticing, though more information might be gained if the person you are observing is careless enough not to cover its own tracks. Ability: Night, watch target player. If that player has Vulnerability status, then watch and track instead.
~~~ Artifact: Ancient Pennant Note: A truly beautiful creation, it was crafted using reality alloy as the core and entwining it with the magical distillation of the aspect of dread. Even when it remains hidden from sight, the emotional emanations it exudes washes all with a general sense of unease. It will only truly affect those weak of mind and spirit of course. Ability: All players with Vulnerability status have a Lynch threshold of -1.
~~~ Follower: Sellsword (Exhausted) Note: You have a mercenary under your hire although it has made it clear it will not kill for you. A mercenary with a sense of honor. You almost rolled your eyes at that but you didn’t, since that can be rather undignified. Still, you have paid so you might as well have some use out of it. Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, target player gains Vulnerability status.
~~~ Spell: Decree Note: The blade struck; therefore the heart must have been pierced. This highly dangerous spell reverses the laws of causality so that the reverse is true. The heart pierced; therefore the blade must have struck. The act of killing is a mere formality as the blade had already pierced the heart even before the attack was initiated. Ability: Concurrent, Night, all kills targeting the player with the least amount of total posts cannot be prevented.
~~~ Spell: Shade Note: This ritual manipulates the shadows inherent in all things to seal the things themselves partially out of synch with the rest of the world. This causes the identification of those things near impossible until a sufficient enough time has passed for the effects of the ritual to unravel themselves. The beauty here is that the caster is not affected. Ability: One-shot, Concurrent, Night, all items on targeted player that died tonight will only be revealed to you and not to the game thread.
~~~ Artifact: Ring of Command Note: A beautiful golden ring inlaid with rubies around it is certainly a sight to behold. All the rubies seem to glow with an inner light when the ring was kissed, giving hints as to its magical nature. The ring houses an elemental servant of the air that will serve its master’s every command. Ability: Linked to 1 Follower which can only be moved together with the Ring of Command.
~~~ Follower: Djinn Note: A djinn of the ring is a creature out of myths that will reluctantly serve the whims of its master. While those same myths portrayed these djinns as creatures with insidious cunning or malicious wit, the one you control is little more than a mindless magical summon that bends to your will easily enough. Ability: Linked to Ring of Command, Night, track target player.
~~~ Artifact: Chest of Gold Note: Drop a chest of gold into someone’s lap and that lap is probably crushed if said someone is a normal mortal. But that aside, that much amount of gold is not something to be brushed aside casually. It could even be used to bribe anyone away from their former master to serve you. Ability: Night, giving Chest of Gold to target player will steal for you all Followers that player owns at the end of night.
~~~ Artifact: Orb of Whispers Note: If you whisper to the orb, it will whisper back to you. If you scream at the orb, it will still whisper back to you. It is a mysterious chrome orb that thrummed with power with each word exchanged. Every single past wielder of the orb has claimed that the whispers sometimes contain shards of truth. Ability: Night, name an Artifact, Spell or Follower. If it exists in the game, you will be told every detail pertaining to it.
~~~ Spell: Resonance Note: Morphological resonance of each artifact has a unique signature to it, unduplicated by any other means. However, if one is aware of such a fact, that signature resonance can be modulated carefully from another source to retrieve that artifact from its space-time position. Regrettably, such a morphological disorder destroys the structural integrity of the base artifact used. Ability: Night, name an Artifact. If it exists in the game and has yet to be discarded, discard an Artifact you own to steal the Artifact you have named, no matter where it may be.
~~~ Spell: Pillars Note: This is a prayer invoking the might of a Divine, casting a single person within a column of invisible light so intense it feels almost solid. Within the active duration, the person is protected from all lethal harm but also unable to affect the outside world. To prevent panic and hysteria, that person’s consciousness is forcibly blanked out. Ability: Night, protect target player from all kills. That player is prevented from using any actions. The targeted player cannot be you.
~~~ Spell: Silver Mark Note: A cantrip invocation that blesses another person from all danger and harm. While it originates from a midwife’s repertoire of folk charms and minor remedies, this particular cantrip’s power has been seriously augmented to the extent of being able to ward off anything that would outright kill. Alas, such a boost reduces its effective length. Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, protect target player.
~~~ Follower: Fanatic (Exhausted) Note: The best type of follower to have around is one that would be willing to die for you. A much better one is one that would be willing to kill for you. This particular follower is so devoted to Light that it is willing to kill only those whom it perceived to be Evil or weak. Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, kill target player. This is only successful if target player is non-town or has Vulnerability status.
~~~ Artifact: Mandate of Heaven Note: This perfectly circular white disc symbolizes the favor of Heavens upon you, rendering you entirely immune to whatever machinations that may be done covertly against you. Legends passed down from the lore state that it was crafted from the scales of a white dragon, slain by the first owner of the Mandate of Heaven. Ability: All actions performed upon you will fail.
~~~ Follower: Spymaster Note: Sometimes, circumstances dictate that your allies must be protected as well. So while the Mandate of Heaven may or may not be yours, it would serve a greater good in someone else’s hands for a while. This is where the Spymaster comes in. Though of course, when said circumstances have passed, the Mandate must be returned to you. Ability: One-shot, Night, target player receives the Mandate of Heaven if it has yet to be discarded, no matter where it may be. At the end of night, Mandate of Heaven will be returned to you if it has yet to be discarded.
~~~ Follower: Bouncer Note: It smacks its fist into its palm and leers at everyone that walks by. A total brute, with all muscles and no brain, but it serves its function rather well. It does have the propensity to go around at nights thrashing up any poor unfortunate souls whom it perceives to be weak and in need of a good beating. Ability: At the end of every Night, the living player with the least amount of total posts will gain Vulnerability status. This ability could be used repeatedly on the same player.
~~~ Artifact: Insignia of the Wind Note: For something called Insignia of the Wind, it is neither an insignia nor has it anything to do with the wind. Still, it is an artifact of potent power, able to reduce the probability of death occurring to a single person. Repeated usage on the same person has been noted to increase said probability however, so caution is advised. Ability: Night, protect target player without Vulnerability status from all kills. If the protected player is the target of a kill, that player will gain Vulnerability status instead of dying. If instead, target player has Vulnerability status, kill that player.
~~~ Spell: Sanctification Note: This is a spell ritual known only to a select few. While it doesn’t mend the body or heal the bones and thus of less interest to those pursuing the noble arts of healing, it does one thing remarkably well. It strengthens both the mind and the soul, two rather insubstantial attributes to most people. Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, remove Vulnerability status from target player.
~~~ Spell: Tinker and Tools Note: An enchantment that cycles the state of an existence back to a previous state. Due to the chaotic nature of temporal magic, spells like this are severely regulated and restricted. There is no denying that if such an enchantment is properly applied, the benefits could be tremendous. Alas, some people are not interested in only benefits. Ability: Transferable, Discard, Night, remove all Exhausted status from target player’s Artifacts, Spells and Followers.
~~~ Artifact: Talisman Note: It is a short strip of paper inscribed with sigils and runes of power. Very traditional. Very potent. Almost certainly going to do something. That is what you believed anyway, judging from the instructions jotted on it. Whisper a name to it and the Talisman’s power will burn up, together with the functionality of the named article. Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, name a one-shot Artifact, Spell or Follower without the Used status. If it exists in the game, it gains the Exhausted status. ~~~ Spell: Solemn Vow Note: Among the most important of unspoken vows between craftsmen is the vow of brotherhood and kinship. This is the bond forged through the same profession, of an understanding based in the similar dangers, hardships and trials that have to be endured. That one would not take advantage of each other but will still come to the other’s aid. Ability: An aide’s primary ability is nullified in your presence. Night, name an Aide. It will be returned to you at the end of Night if it has yet to be discarded. ~~~ Follower: Tactical Aide Note: In the battlefield of military war as well as those of political nature, the Tactical Aide offers advices and suggestions that will both lengthen your lifespan and career. When its contract with you has ended however, at a time when the Aide deems fit, it will leave your service for another. Ability: Transferable, your Lynch threshold is +1. ~~~ Artifact: Lidless Eye Note: It is a piece of marble, carved in the likeness of a lidless eye. An exquisite craftsmanship to be certain. Almost certainly going to be worth a lot, judging from the way the almost lifelike eye seems to follow your every move. But closer inspection reveals that alas, it is as non-magical as it can be. Ability: None.
Many thanks to Wein for this piece of fantastic writing.
In retrospect, the tumultuous events that were about to unfold in the following days were not all that shocking. Indeed, the arrival of a broken, white-masked figure ought to be seen as a disquieting harbinger of some sort. Sure, there was the distraction that was the man’s chronic halitosis, but for those who both heard and listened, the forewarning implicated underneath his sombre speech could never be mistaken for anything else.
It was noted with a certain irony, therefore, that the man who urged unity in weathering what was to come could not even survive even one day in his newfound refuge.
He was still impassionedly making his case when a well-thrown blade hit its mark, slashing its way gracefully mid-air before lodging itself into his throat with clinical finality. It happened so quickly that everyone barely reacted, especially the victim; he merely froze for a second, allowing himself moments to express his silent shock and pain before crumpling to the podium floor. There probably were some hand spasms and choking breaths emanating from him too; considering his theatrical nature, however, those was somehow befitting.
Save for its alacrity, the assassination was not very remarkable. It really was an efficient one, though.
Dagger, The Moderator (Town) was impaled at Prelude.
Name: Dagger Alignment: Town Title: The Moderator Domain: A Moderator is the ultimate Arbiter, a position acknowledged worldwide as the definitive impartial intermediatery between the world’s major powers. As for the spectators, the assemblage of twenty in which you were a part of, the delayed responses were definitely more varied, though it was pretty certain that none would be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder just yet. There were the larger gasps borne out of surprise and excitement, but the stifling murmurs of annoyance and apathy, even pleasure, could be discerned underneath.
Still, there was a dead body in the chamber, and something had to be done. Someone called for an investigation, and the congregation prepared to leave the assembly hall.
It was then that they realized someone had sealed every exit to the place.
The wards that held the enchantment were alien to everyone, and despite an exhaustive, frustrating hour that had elapsed, none could remove them. Finally, all stopped trying. It was altogether most bewildering.
It did not take long for everyone to link this latest setback with the preceding murder. Suspicion turned inwards. Furtive, shifty glances began to dart around. Accusations and denials were welling up, silent and unsaid, in each and every one of you.
So much for unity.
Yet, the perpetrators must be caught before more damage was done. That much was clear.
Maybe PTSD and claustrophobia were not so bad after all.
Fastest replace ever of someone who actually got to post in the game?
Hey, is anyone here a hobbit, dwarf or elf?
Why, yes. You.

Jund Fangirl; Few things can describe the bliss of the fangirl's cries fading to silence (broken by occasional munching sounds).
Grixis Emo; 'Why should I go out there? They're all uncaring zombies! *sniff* No one understands me...' Bant Wageslave; Behind every successful knight is a corporate drudge doing his taxwork.

I'm amused that [Shalako], of all people, are talking about terrible reasoning. "Hey, PF's RVS daykill must be serious, therefore I should shoot him to prove that I have a daykill!"
Great! thank you for admitting you are scum, in an attempt to smear me you just gave us our first scum lynch! heres to hoping all the scum is this awesome

That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die.
Funny because since i have no way to talk to you outside of the game i have no idea about this arrangement you mention, however please keep going you just gave us the first scum lynch and thats just awesome.
I see you trying to implicate me but no defense against the actual accusation of being scum, not a town action so im seeing this as scum trying to drag a town with him after being caught, yay town!
Also this has got to be the shortest RVS ever!

And even though Sepiriel completely didn't get it, he/she (??) Is quite clearly town.
Nope if its a joke i didn't get it, also if it is indeed a joke it is perhaps the worst possible joke any town can make, not only are you setting yourself as a lynch target you are also setting someone else up as a target, hell even excusing yourself and saying its a joke is detrimental since now its a bunch of WIFOM that will put eco and I under much more scrutiny and make us much more of a target for actual scum to try and mislynch.
That is why i dont see this a joke and dont see his actions as good for the town, and if the following defense is "Well its RVS" then that doesnt really fly for me, being silly is one thing, implicating yourself as scum and then attempting to drag someone else whom you have no knowledge of as scum is not a good thing to do starting the game.
And there i just did my customary "Srs Bsns!!!!" rant early in the game.... i swear i almost feel like shalako or khorney are in this game...

oh, you. Do you really think I just claimed scum in a ham-fisted attempt to sacrifice myself and lynch the first person who voted me? Or do you think that perhaps I was just having a laugh?

Engage brain then open mouth.
Entirely plausible depending on whatever Day,Night,Concurrent,Transferable, etc Item you may have (if any, and no im not asking you to tell us if you do)
Aside from that you just benefited from a pretty good bit of WIFOM (of course conversely i just cleared myself as town, not that that is too hard to do considering my play style).
All that aside my stance on your joke remains unchanged (if it indeed was a joke), even as a joke that is a bad move (in my view) since it only helps the scum with pointless waste of time (a resource which we dont know for how long we will have in abundance may i add).
And yes maybe i do take things way to seriously something to keep in mind as the game goes along.

Plausible yes. Likely? No. It is plausible that it is good play for a scum player to out himself for literally no gain. It is, however, not very likely.
I don't see how I have benefited from the WIFOM. At the very least, people should simply ignore as it being a joke. At worst people grossly misinterpret it and try and lynch me.
You may very well believe it to be a bad move. I would argue that even making jokes is more productive than doing nothing, and it certainly isn't a bigger waste of time than doing nothing. Regardless, it being bad play doesn't make it scum play.

we are however not talking about the likelyhood but rather the plausibility of such an act and whether or not you are doing such (or if that is what was construed with my words then i apologize).

Well you managed to make a "joke" wherein you managed to implicate and cast mistrust on someone who if you really are scum know to be a town (or at the very least to not be scum since i cannot presume to know whether there are any neutral elements in this game), now people will have to weigh interactions with both of us under the grounds of the "what if" (which i understand is what a WIFOM entails) making people hesitant.

However you are in agreement with me that it is a bad play correct? whether making a joke is bad play or not is not the point i argue that it is the subject of the joke that is bad play, and the subject (or nature if you want) of the joke could be construed (and is by me) as scum play in addition to it being bad town play (if it is indeed a town making said joke)
The plus side is that we just now started serious talks so yes your point is partially proven in that your joke has proven more productive than silence (however said silence is in part due to the festivities i assume)

I disagree. In order to determine whether or not I am scum performing a scum gambit, we must examine the likelihood of such. You could, at the very least, apply Occam's Razor.

Hence, people should ignore the obvious joke as having no bearing on either of our alignments. You are also assuming I am scum and then working out why this makes me scummy, which is the wrong order of doing things.

Incorrect. I do not consider it to have been a bad play. I consider it to have been an amusing play.

It is probably more due to the fact that the game is less than 12 hours old. Chillax, man.

Ok ill concede that much however i still hold that the plausibility of such action should weight as much as the likelihood (at the very least in my case i have to consider plausibility over likelihood since it is the first game i ever play with you and it is not M.O. to do deep research on other's play style outside of games i participate on)
Hence, people should ignore the obvious joke as having no bearing on either of our alignments. You are also assuming I am scum and then working out why this makes me scummy, which is the wrong order of doing things.
Problem is the masses are easily influenced, and it only takes a very charismatic or able leader to rally them into a mislynch specially if theres already a prior mistrust factor.
As for considering you scum and basing my assumptions on that, i find it is the easiest way to examine things for me, since i can only truly trust myself when it comes to alignment for now i have to assume the worst of any and all interactions specially given any possible agenda behind said interactions (kinda paranoid of me i admit)
Incorrect. I do not consider it to have been a bad play. I consider it to have been an amusing play.
Ok well my stance remains though but that is apparently a difference in opinion.
It is probably more due to the fact that the game is less than 12 hours old. Chillax, man.
I was talking more about the fact we completely obliterated RVS for the rest rather than the actual amount of time elapsed (I have actually gone on record in my first game stating how little i care for such a stage), also its difficult to Chillax since my unicorn got disintegrated and you don't wanna fix it!

I think Sepiriel took the joke just a little too seriously. Though I find it rather convenient that he provides a 'paranoia' excuse in his last post, regardless of if that's a normal playstyle or not.

Please explain how voicing an opinion and making an observation is 'mak[ing] an attack'?
Would 'mak[ing] an attack' not be something like placing a vote? Of which I didn't do because 1) it's the first damn conversation of the thread, and 2) I didn't think the conversation amounted to anything.

Yes, but to me, it has the feel of a pre-emptive excuse as to why you started an attack on Eco and then let the attack die off.
When someone comes out and says 'oh yeah I do X' without being prompted to do so, it comes off as strange to me. As if that person is trying to appear genuine, thinking they need to explain the action because it might be viewed oddly.
IMO, I should learn how you play by observing you and asking questions about what I see, not by you telling me how you play.

I would give it a 93% chance that Eco was making a joke during the RVS.
It was definitely joke. The defense and following argument may have been a little over the top, but that could just be due to the nature of the accusations. -Probably nothing to see here.
Random vote: WwaB to prevent an excess of fish in this game.

Problem is i am upfront with information even when not prompted, you are free to verify this of course but its pretty much what i always do.
Also your last line is quite a contradiction, aren't you observing me being upfront about information? you can follow this up with questions to verify (of course by telling you this im apparently telling you how to do things so i am obviously not honest and all that jazz)
In short, i tend to explain myself a lot, even when not prompted, you are free to verify this from my prior games.

5. The following are keyworded traits that may be found on items:
Day – This item can only be used during the Day.

Ability: One-shot, Night, each player targeting you tonight will be immune from all non-kill effects.
~~~
Follower: Red Goo
Note: The most protective and violent among all species of Goo, it has an almost paranoid and psychopathic tendency towards whomever it perceived to be threatening against its owner. In all actuality, this is the only species of Goo with reports of lethal attacks against humans, a most surprising fact considering its physical attributes.
Ability: One-shot, Night, each player killing you tonight will also die.
~~~
Artifact: The Monocle
Note: It is big and round, with a golden frame to kill for and a capacity to glint off light in such a manner as to make you seem highly dangerous. You delighted in the fact that whenever you brought it out to use it, everyone else shuddered in fear of you. Tragically, its primary function is purely aesthetic.
Ability: None.
~~~
Follower: Subject J
Note: Highly dexterous and nimble, subject has been noted to be able to sneak past all securities guarding a certain position in order to determine all articles being held there. The ease in which it adapted to such a task suggested previous experience. May be pushed to obtain more information out of infiltration but will be rendered null after.
Ability: Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Artifacts. One-shot, you may immediately follow up to determine the abilities of all the listed Artifacts and whether they are Exhausted before the Day is over.
~~~
Follower: Subject K
Note: Talented unnaturally so in mind infiltration, subject has a sight limitation and a working range of up to half a mile. A delicate procedure still in experimental stage, so restriction to casual brushing of thought surfaces is suggested for repeated usage. A more straining and deadly variant may dig out more conclusive results, though highly dangerous to subject.
Ability: Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Spells. One-shot, you may immediately follow up to determine the abilities of all the listed Spells and whether they are Exhausted before the Day is over.
~~~
Follower: Subject T
Note: Subject has been noted to have an almost unnatural sway with other people. Side effects of the combination of drugs and training has given it an almost hypnotic-like persuasion skill that has been confirmed to manipulate subconscious brainwaves of all living entities. Powers are still at preliminary stages and attempts to enhance them are ill-advised without further data.
Ability: Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Followers. One-shot, you may immediately follow up to determine the abilities of all the listed Followers and whether they are Exhausted before the Day is over.
~~~
Artifact: Crest of Conviction
Note: A symbol of office where the faith of millions are placed onto your shoulders. With the heavy burden of such responsibility on your shoulders, how can you even fail? Or falter? Or even show the tiniest hint of weakness? For were you to fail, who else can these millions look up to?
Ability: Transferable, you cannot gain Vulnerability status. Whenever you receive this, if you have Vulnerability status, remove the status.
~~~
Artifact: Ancient Ledger
Note: A weathered yellowed script of ancient papers that looks set to crumble the moment someone breathes on it. As far as you can ascertain, it has a divinatory purpose though you doubt you should actually use it. Divination is a tricky business. What if the result stuns you so much that you accidentally destroys such a priceless antique?
Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Day, you will be told the number of non-discarded items in the game with Exhausted and non-Exhausted given as separate numbers.
~~~
Spell: Secret
Note: Being weak is not something one likes to air to the public. And a great many people would take great steps and lengths just to ensure that secret will be taken to their graves with them. But if you do not know where they are, how else can you help them? Unfortunately, this divinatory ritual is rather loud.
Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Day, reveal all players with Vulnerability status in the game thread.
~~~
Spell: Representative
Note: When the weak falter, the strong shall rise in their stead. It does not really matter if the weak protest such a notion, for is it not the strong’s obligation to graciously guide them? This calling spell will immediately identify all the players afflicted with weakness and allow you to act on their behalf.
Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Day, all players with Vulnerability status will be informed of their loss of votes and you gain that many votes for the day.
~~~
Spell: Mindsight
Note: A very powerful invasionary mind magic that duplicates the exact workings of another spell right out of an unwilling mind. The incantations to initiate this magic is very exhaustive however to both magical reserve and strength, and will most likely kill you if not enough time has passed in between casting to recuperate both.
Ability: One-shot, Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Spells. If that player has any Spell, you gain a copy of that Spell permanently. If that player has more than one Spells, you gain a copy of one of those Spells of your choice permanently.
~~~
Follower: Thousand-Face Servant (Exhausted)
Note: A most skillful servant, it is a master of disguises with a thousand faces. So adept is it in the arts of mimicry that it can become anyone of any talent and training. Though to fully immerse itself into such a deception, it must abandon all pretenses of its original nature, and that can be difficult to return from.
Ability: One-shot, Discard, Day, you are given the name list of target player’s Followers. If that player has any Follower, you gain a copy of that Follower permanently. If that player has more than one Followers, you gain a copy of one of those Followers of your choice permanently.
~~~
Artifact: Spyglass
Note: A simple enough equipment, made from a series of interlocking metal tubes inserted with focusing lenses. It can be used to observe someone from far away without that person ever noticing, though more information might be gained if the person you are observing is careless enough not to cover its own tracks.
Ability: Night, watch target player. If that player has Vulnerability status, then watch and track instead.
~~~
Artifact: Ancient Pennant
Note: A truly beautiful creation, it was crafted using reality alloy as the core and entwining it with the magical distillation of the aspect of dread. Even when it remains hidden from sight, the emotional emanations it exudes washes all with a general sense of unease. It will only truly affect those weak of mind and spirit of course.
Ability: All players with Vulnerability status have a Lynch threshold of -1.
~~~
Follower: Sellsword (Exhausted)
Note: You have a mercenary under your hire although it has made it clear it will not kill for you. A mercenary with a sense of honor. You almost rolled your eyes at that but you didn’t, since that can be rather undignified. Still, you have paid so you might as well have some use out of it.
Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, target player gains Vulnerability status.
~~~
Spell: Decree
Note: The blade struck; therefore the heart must have been pierced. This highly dangerous spell reverses the laws of causality so that the reverse is true. The heart pierced; therefore the blade must have struck. The act of killing is a mere formality as the blade had already pierced the heart even before the attack was initiated.
Ability: Concurrent, Night, all kills targeting the player with the least amount of total posts cannot be prevented.
~~~
Spell: Shade
Note: This ritual manipulates the shadows inherent in all things to seal the things themselves partially out of synch with the rest of the world. This causes the identification of those things near impossible until a sufficient enough time has passed for the effects of the ritual to unravel themselves. The beauty here is that the caster is not affected.
Ability: One-shot, Concurrent, Night, all items on targeted player that died tonight will only be revealed to you and not to the game thread.
~~~
Artifact: Ring of Command
Note: A beautiful golden ring inlaid with rubies around it is certainly a sight to behold. All the rubies seem to glow with an inner light when the ring was kissed, giving hints as to its magical nature. The ring houses an elemental servant of the air that will serve its master’s every command.
Ability: Linked to 1 Follower which can only be moved together with the Ring of Command.
~~~
Follower: Djinn
Note: A djinn of the ring is a creature out of myths that will reluctantly serve the whims of its master. While those same myths portrayed these djinns as creatures with insidious cunning or malicious wit, the one you control is little more than a mindless magical summon that bends to your will easily enough.
Ability: Linked to Ring of Command, Night, track target player.
~~~
Artifact: Chest of Gold
Note: Drop a chest of gold into someone’s lap and that lap is probably crushed if said someone is a normal mortal. But that aside, that much amount of gold is not something to be brushed aside casually. It could even be used to bribe anyone away from their former master to serve you.
Ability: Night, giving Chest of Gold to target player will steal for you all Followers that player owns at the end of night.
~~~
Artifact: Orb of Whispers
Note: If you whisper to the orb, it will whisper back to you. If you scream at the orb, it will still whisper back to you. It is a mysterious chrome orb that thrummed with power with each word exchanged. Every single past wielder of the orb has claimed that the whispers sometimes contain shards of truth.
Ability: Night, name an Artifact, Spell or Follower. If it exists in the game, you will be told every detail pertaining to it.
~~~
Spell: Resonance
Note: Morphological resonance of each artifact has a unique signature to it, unduplicated by any other means. However, if one is aware of such a fact, that signature resonance can be modulated carefully from another source to retrieve that artifact from its space-time position. Regrettably, such a morphological disorder destroys the structural integrity of the base artifact used.
Ability: Night, name an Artifact. If it exists in the game and has yet to be discarded, discard an Artifact you own to steal the Artifact you have named, no matter where it may be.
~~~
Spell: Pillars
Note: This is a prayer invoking the might of a Divine, casting a single person within a column of invisible light so intense it feels almost solid. Within the active duration, the person is protected from all lethal harm but also unable to affect the outside world. To prevent panic and hysteria, that person’s consciousness is forcibly blanked out.
Ability: Night, protect target player from all kills. That player is prevented from using any actions. The targeted player cannot be you.
~~~
Spell: Silver Mark
Note: A cantrip invocation that blesses another person from all danger and harm. While it originates from a midwife’s repertoire of folk charms and minor remedies, this particular cantrip’s power has been seriously augmented to the extent of being able to ward off anything that would outright kill. Alas, such a boost reduces its effective length.
Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, protect target player.
~~~
Follower: Fanatic (Exhausted)
Note: The best type of follower to have around is one that would be willing to die for you. A much better one is one that would be willing to kill for you. This particular follower is so devoted to Light that it is willing to kill only those whom it perceived to be Evil or weak.
Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, kill target player. This is only successful if target player is non-town or has Vulnerability status.
~~~
Artifact: Mandate of Heaven
Note: This perfectly circular white disc symbolizes the favor of Heavens upon you, rendering you entirely immune to whatever machinations that may be done covertly against you. Legends passed down from the lore state that it was crafted from the scales of a white dragon, slain by the first owner of the Mandate of Heaven.
Ability: All actions performed upon you will fail.
~~~
Follower: Spymaster
Note: Sometimes, circumstances dictate that your allies must be protected as well. So while the Mandate of Heaven may or may not be yours, it would serve a greater good in someone else’s hands for a while. This is where the Spymaster comes in. Though of course, when said circumstances have passed, the Mandate must be returned to you.
Ability: One-shot, Night, target player receives the Mandate of Heaven if it has yet to be discarded, no matter where it may be. At the end of night, Mandate of Heaven will be returned to you if it has yet to be discarded.
~~~
Follower: Bouncer
Note: It smacks its fist into its palm and leers at everyone that walks by. A total brute, with all muscles and no brain, but it serves its function rather well. It does have the propensity to go around at nights thrashing up any poor unfortunate souls whom it perceives to be weak and in need of a good beating.
Ability: At the end of every Night, the living player with the least amount of total posts will gain Vulnerability status. This ability could be used repeatedly on the same player.
~~~
Artifact: Insignia of the Wind
Note: For something called Insignia of the Wind, it is neither an insignia nor has it anything to do with the wind. Still, it is an artifact of potent power, able to reduce the probability of death occurring to a single person. Repeated usage on the same person has been noted to increase said probability however, so caution is advised.
Ability: Night, protect target player without Vulnerability status from all kills. If the protected player is the target of a kill, that player will gain Vulnerability status instead of dying. If instead, target player has Vulnerability status, kill that player.
~~~
Spell: Sanctification
Note: This is a spell ritual known only to a select few. While it doesn’t mend the body or heal the bones and thus of less interest to those pursuing the noble arts of healing, it does one thing remarkably well. It strengthens both the mind and the soul, two rather insubstantial attributes to most people.
Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, remove Vulnerability status from target player.
~~~
Spell: Tinker and Tools
Note: An enchantment that cycles the state of an existence back to a previous state. Due to the chaotic nature of temporal magic, spells like this are severely regulated and restricted. There is no denying that if such an enchantment is properly applied, the benefits could be tremendous. Alas, some people are not interested in only benefits.
Ability: Transferable, Discard, Night, remove all Exhausted status from target player’s Artifacts, Spells and Followers.
~~~
Artifact: Talisman
Note: It is a short strip of paper inscribed with sigils and runes of power. Very traditional. Very potent. Almost certainly going to do something. That is what you believed anyway, judging from the instructions jotted on it. Whisper a name to it and the Talisman’s power will burn up, together with the functionality of the named article.
Ability: Transferable, One-shot, Night, name a one-shot Artifact, Spell or Follower without the Used status. If it exists in the game, it gains the Exhausted status.
~~~
Spell: Solemn Vow
Note: Among the most important of unspoken vows between craftsmen is the vow of brotherhood and kinship. This is the bond forged through the same profession, of an understanding based in the similar dangers, hardships and trials that have to be endured. That one would not take advantage of each other but will still come to the other’s aid.
Ability: An aide’s primary ability is nullified in your presence. Night, name an Aide. It will be returned to you at the end of Night if it has yet to be discarded.
~~~
Follower: Tactical Aide
Note: In the battlefield of military war as well as those of political nature, the Tactical Aide offers advices and suggestions that will both lengthen your lifespan and career. When its contract with you has ended however, at a time when the Aide deems fit, it will leave your service for another.
Ability: Transferable, your Lynch threshold is +1.
~~~
Artifact: Lidless Eye
Note: It is a piece of marble, carved in the likeness of a lidless eye. An exquisite craftsmanship to be certain. Almost certainly going to be worth a lot, judging from the way the almost lifelike eye seems to follow your every move. But closer inspection reveals that alas, it is as non-magical as it can be.
Ability: None.

Name: Dagger
Alignment: Town
Title: The Moderator
Domain: A Moderator is the ultimate Arbiter, a position acknowledged worldwide as the definitive impartial intermediatery between the world’s major powers. Trained from birth in the arts of diplomacy and politics, and with both personality and mental conditioning, a Moderator’s first and only duty is to the world itself. And in times of great crisis, to facilitate its safety.
Win Condition: Eliminate the scums.
Artifact: White Mask
Note: A simple white half-mask, designed more of a ritualistic tradition and less of a fashion statement. While it looks rather wicked and mysterious when worn, it is mainly used to cover one’s face rather than as a magical instrument of death or destruction. There is nary a single trace of magic on it other than its smell.
Ability: None.

Sadly, lrd isn't in this game, so it won't work here
On a scale of 1-10, how sure are you that lrd isn't in the game?
Actually now i kinda wanna know who he was a gimmick off, i checked the banned thread but didnt find who he belonged to, anyone know?
Vote Magwald because i wanna know who ~V~ was a gimmick off.
12-11? I'm losing track
Thank you.
Unvote, Vote Ecophagy for defending his scum buddy
Unvote, Vote Sepiriel for bussing his scum buddy
Great! thank you for admitting you are scum, in an attempt to smear me you just gave us our first scum lynch! heres to hoping all the scum is this awesome
I know that we agreed to bus aggressively, but this is just mean
You're a terrible scum buddy
Also this has got to be the shortest RVS ever!
Also i distinctly recall our beloved and recently deceased mod telling us we should understand Mafia to be srs bsns!
Ok well my stance remains though but that is apparently a difference in opinion.
I was talking more about the fact we completely obliterated RVS for the rest rather than the actual amount of time elapsed (I have actually gone on record in my first game stating how little i care for such a stage), also its difficult to Chillax since my unicorn got disintegrated and you don't wanna fix it!
Unvote since someone rolled in and put boot to hind quarters of the RVS.
I think Sepiriel took the joke just a little too seriously. Though I find it rather convenient that he provides a 'paranoia' excuse in his last post, regardless of if that's a normal playstyle or not.

I would give it a 93% chance that Eco was making a joke during the RVS.
Also, am going to say Sep is town currently as I saw how s/he acts when they are scum firsthand, and it wasnt like this.

It was definitely joke. The defense and following argument may have been a little over the top, but that could just be due to the nature of the accusations. -Probably nothing to see here.
Random vote: WwaB to prevent an excess of fish in this game.
Long live the RVS!
Unvote since it seems someone else decided to take a paranoid dump on my favorite part if the game.
As far as the drama: Eco was joking, Sep overreacted, Vamp slapped Sep with a wet noodle for explaining why, and Mag called out Vamp for attacking with a wet noodle instead of with a vote. Did I get that all right?
