I haven't been around for large stretches of this year or read a lot of games I didn't play, so I don't feel qualified to participate in a lot of the awards, but I would like to put ced up for Best Mafia Performance (Individual) for OOTS Mafia. Did an excellent job of outwitting the town (me included) in that game and riding his "cleared" status just subtly enough that the suspicions a couple of us had of him never quite got to the point of a serious look.
Did I just completely hallucinate playing that game? There's no record of me in it at all.

Best Town Performance (Individual) - So many of the better town performances this season have been in losing causes, but not this one. Azrael in Manipulator Mafia was a showing worthy of his pedigree. ced in the same game was also excellent. Best Mafia Performance (Individual) - ZDS in LotR II has got to be up there, but for my money this was ced395 in OotS. ZDS was magnificent in his control of a broken and rudderless town, but ced managed it against a town that was still very much in the game, manipulating players expertly and even glossing over a major discrepancy in his claim. Fantastic. Best SK Performance (Individual) - Alpha Werewolf in Duel Monsters just about edges this one for me despite obviously strong contention from (I think) the only standard SK to win it this season, kpaca in CCMIV. Alpha took it to LyLo without ever being suspected by anyone and actually had a brief window where he could've won the game while TACKY was at L-1 from AE's vote, but he didn't log on in time and AE went on to change his mind for the win. Great stuff. Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual) - Another no contest - this is AE, Kraj and Dancing Mad (the chimes) in Sword of Truth. If I had to pick one, it'd be Kraj. Best Town Performance (Group) - This one is Sword of Truth for one of the better town showings I've ever seen. Losing without ever mislynching is a touch pill to swallow, but this town did just about enough to deserve a win. Unfortunately, the chimes had other ideas. Best Mafia Performance (Group) - Looking over those games, it hasn't really been a great season for mafia groups. I'm going to go with Symbiote for best group performance - none of us were really outstanding, but together we made it work. Worst Town Performance (Group) - There is absolutely no question that this is South Park Mafia's town. Worst Mafia Performance (Group) - Equally no question that this is The Asphodel Meadows's mafia. Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual) - I don't usually give any awards for basic games but looking over that list, I see nothing in the standard games that beats this one - it's MandersHex in American Pie, who claimed flavor so identical to the flavor I had given townie Kraj that she and her replacement fooled the town into thinking they were some kind of pseudo-masons/bastard roles/something unknown for almost the entire game. Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual) - Seppel in Symbiote's wacky claim probably contributed to his lynch, but it was hilarious. Best Town Player - This was a really tough one. So many of the usual candidates played only 1-2 games as town this season and many of them had a couple of stellar games and then a couple of "meh" games. Pale Mage played relatively few games this season but had a stormer in Sword of Truth and a good game in Meadows, plus a good game as "sort of town" in Fahrenheit 451 Mafia, so I'll go with him again. Best Mafia Player - ced395 for his play in OotS and The Family Mafia, and again as scum (although not mafia) in Fleet Mafia. Part of me is glad our paths haven't crossed much this season because I have a string of bad experiences involving ced and endgames. Best Overall Player - The winner in this category is someone who I felt was just about on a level with me last season and who was almost certainly last season's best new player, but has really added a lot to his game over the past months and should be up there with the most respected players: ced395. Most Entertaining Player - It's got to be Seppel. Part of me does wish he'd knuckle down and get on with it sometimes as his antics have the potential to distract, but the other part is too busy wiping away tears of laughter. Best Newcomer - Some people thought Syrenz had been playing too long for this award (probably because he made his debut in Basic #8, the earliest possible game to be eligible for this season) but he's definitely eligible and definitely the winner. I knew he had something about him from his showing in his first game and he didn't disappoint with great performances as town in Meadows and as mafia in Anita Blake 2. Well done.

Best Town Performance (Individual) - Axelrod - Indiana Jones. Axelrod was spot on in this game, as always.
Best Mafia Performance (Individual) - Self vote, Brittania. I know that the game got cancelled, but the town was absolutely eating out of the palm of my hand, and I am completely confident that I would have gone the distance in that game.
Best SK Performance (Individual) - Kpaca, CCMIV - When you win as the SK, you win the Best SK award. Pretty simple.
Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual) - AE, Kraj, DM from SoT. They did a great job of feigning ignorance about what their roles were doing and just blending in.
Best Town Performance (Group) - Sword of Truth - I still feel bad that the town never mislynched and still lost this game. I thought that people that had read the series would be more suspicious of the chimes, but they just never were.
Best Mafia Performance (Group) - Anite Blake. Team lost 2 scum in the first 2 days and still cruised to an easy victory.
Worst Town Performance (Group) - LOTR2. I haven't seen this poor of a town performance in some time.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group) - Asphodel ,without question. Sacrificing your entire team to get one player killed..how can that ever seem like a good idea to scum? Especially when that player is the SK. The mafia should WANT the SK to stick around.
Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual)
Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual)
Best Town Player - Axelrod - When he is town, he is very accurate and very observant. And very scary.
Best Mafia Player - Self Vote.
Best Overall Player - I honestly don't feel like anyone's performances this year were deserving of this award. People that were really good as town were really bad as scum, and vice versa. Nobody seemed particularly well-rounded.

Best SK Performance (Individual)--AsianInvasion as Sylar. He rocked.
Best Mafia Performance (Group)--I would like to give this to the Chimes from Sword of Truth. They weren't actually mafia, but they did a great job of getting us to hand us the game. And for all intents and purposes, they were a mini mafia group.
Worst Town Performance (Group)--South Park. The replacements were bad. But it was the town's horrible play that really killed them.
Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual)--Bilbroxan's Mayor claim in Ghost Town. Didn't actually win it for him, but we were all absolutely convinced he was telling the truth most of the game.
Best Overall Player--Cyan. He's the best.
Most Entertaining Player--Vezopiraka. I can hate his play so much sometimes, but it's certainly, uh, different.
Best Newcomer--MandersHex
Most Creative--I would have to go with Rafk's Ulterior Motive mechanic in Manipulator Mafia. I thought it was a great way to get people focusing on details.
I don't know if nom is town or scum. But I'd like to point out this type of behavior is his standard modus operandi.
Court Mafia: Day 1, hatch plan to KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN A SINGLE NIGHT, when the plan only allows him to hit 11 random players, ATTEMPTS TO FIRE ANYHOW (Roleblocked).
In other words....Nom is an impulsive player who doesn't think about planning long-term or listening to others. I wouldn't be surprised if he was town. At all.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group) - Asphodel ,without question. Sacrificing your entire team to get one player killed..how can that ever seem like a good idea to scum? Especially when that player is the SK. The mafia should WANT the SK to stick around.
I should note that getting you killed was the not-so-glorious mission of one scum member, not the whole team. Most of us wanted you to stick around, of course, as the SK usually helps the mafia get an extra kill each night.
Not excusing our team as being one of the worst of the year, but I'm actually pretty proud of my play in that game; having to work alone for the last 4 game days and nearly escaping without being lynched.

Lies! -I'm Buffy Summers, town tracker. I used my ability on you and saw that you didn't use any abilities before the game started. My flavor is I was sucked through a mysterious space-time portal and I'm here to kill all the vampires, and my tracking ability is a combination of my Slayer and Native American skills.
Indeed, you were the only decent point in that mafia team, and you performed well, considering the circumstances. But it definitely wasn't just 1 scum that killed himself trying to get me lynched, and their collectively atrocious effort offsets your positive one.
@ Zindabad- Thanks for the nomination. I thought you were still upset with me for replacing out.
It was an excellent false claim, though, wasn't it?
For best false claim, I nominate Cyan for Indiana Jones mafia. He false claimed doc and went so far as to protect our claimed vig during a night where he and the SK (who false-claimed vig and was countered) were to target each other. He likely would have won had he not tried to kill Axelrod, all thanks to his claim.
Unless I managed to completely miss the voting, here are my nominations. This was really hard this year.
These are based only on games I either played in (American Pie, Science, Highlander, Sword of Truth, Joss Whedon, Manipulator), hosted (Indiana Jones, Superhero), or reviewed/watched closely (Heroes, Inter-Dimensional Fleet, Kaizers, Goo, Asphodel Meadows). It's particularly hard to remember details of the games I reviewed, so forgive me if I've overlooked, say, a really creative role.
Player Awards
Best Town Performance (Individual) Calvin - Manipulator I basically recall him putting in a really solid performance and making some key decisions that solidified the town's victory in that game.
Best Mafia Performance (Individual) TheIceMan - American Pie TIM had the entire town fooled until the very end, when it was purely process of elimination that pointed his direction. Stellar performance.
Best Non-SK Neutral Performance (Individual) Guardman - Kaizers If he's eligible, I gotta go with this.
Best Town Performance (Group) Science K, I was part of this town. But overall I recall the town playing a pretty sharp game. Often it's a small number of strong players who pull out the victory for their faction, but this was a strong team.
Best Mafia Performance (Group) Highlander I guess they deserve it for a perfect game. But I think this win was really the town's loss.
Worst Town Performance (Group) Highlander I'm not sure I've ever seen a town play this badly. Seriously, this was just... ug.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group) Joss Whedon I personally believe this setup meant it was just a matter of how long it took the mafia to lose, but our play didn't help the situation. It was pretty much a morbid display of panic/implosions and desperate attempts to rescue the imploding players.
Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual) MandersHex - American Pie It was just dumb luck, but it was truly a thing of beauty.
Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual) Seppel - Joss Whedon Seppel's Captain Hammer antics in Joss Whedon has to be the highlight of the game. Truly the most awesome series of posts and claim pretty much ever.
Best Town Player DesCoures This guy is all-around solid, but his analytical skills are razor-sharp.
Best Mafia Player Seppel Seppel has really found a brilliant balance of always appearing semi-scummy without getting too much suspicion, while at the same time gaining enough respect that towns take him seriously. He's proven to be quite dangerous as scum.
Best Overall Player DYH DYH really impressed me this year with consistently strong performances as both town and scum.
Most Entertaining Player Seppel If he doesn't win this there is no justice in mafia.
Mod Awards
Best Game Design Zionite - Heroes I really loved watching this game. I think it found a wonderful balance of flavor, creativity, depth, and simplicity.
Most Creative Dagger - Dagger - Goo
This design was just packed with unique things and introduced a new twist that turned the game upside down without wrecking the gameplay. Not easy at do. At all.
Best Flavor Zionite - Heroes; HM: Zindabad - American Pie; Xyre - Asphodel Meadows Really tough choice. Heroes absolutely dripped with flavor in mod scenes and role PMs. Zindabad did a wonderful job turning American Pie into a mafia game. While the flavor was incredibly simple, it also managed to be incredibly effective and poignant. I would straight-up nominate Asphodal Meadows for the phenomenal work Xyre put into it, if it weren't for the fact that I think there was so much depth to the flavor you had to be immersed in it to appreciate it, and it's really hard for players to do that going off one role PM and mod scenes.
Most Interesting Role Sylar - Heroes (Zionite); HM: Iago - Manipulator (RafaelK); The MassGoonator - Goo (Dagger) I loved the elegance of Sylar but moreso all the interesting interactions he had with other roles in the game. Iago was an extremely interesting role because it would have been stupidly broken in almost any other setup, but in Manipulator it was an incredibly elegant balancing factor. Dagger's MassGoonator had the potential to be soooo much fun. I was sad when it got killed off early.
Best Host Zindabad - American Pie He really just did a bang-up job between attentiveness, design, flavor, etc. Yeah, it was just a basic, but he made feel like a bit more.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
My apologies for posting the voting rules and failing to return to add the games. RL got crazy busy, and I traveled out of town for a bit and just forgot to even check in. Thanks to Seppel for adding the links.
Even though the site-wide forum awards aren't happening this year, we can still get the usual trophies for our subforum specific awards. With this thread bumped, I'm going to allow people to continue to submit nominations until the end of this next weekend. Most of the awards will be decided simply by who won the most nominations in each category. In the three categories that award forum trophies, Best Player, Best Host, and Best Newcomer, we'll do a runoff poll with about three to five of the most-nominated people to decide who wins the award.
Anyone who still wants to get in their nominations - this is your last chance!

I had nice things to say for everyone typed up, then my cat walked across my laptop and i lost it all, THEN i found out polls were closed anyways and I was wasting time. =_=
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to those who remembered heroes mafia (a Normal, not mini), and who had nice things to say about it. I poured a lot into hosting that game and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it.
Also, Asphodel Meadows was the champion of flavor and design imo. Great roles, greater writing, and crosses the boundary between flavor and fiction.
Best players would be Cyouni as town, Cyan + Syrenz as scum, AsianInvasion in Heroes as the loving serial killer.
Thanks for the love. I think it would have been a cinch had kpaca not blown everyone away in the epic showdown that was CCMIV. I'm looking forward to another Heroes Mafia in the near future!
Congrats to all the winners, and best of luck to everyone for the new year of Mafia!

K, I was part of this town. But overall I recall the town playing a pretty sharp game. Often it's a small number of strong players who pull out the victory for their faction, but this was a strong team.
Best Mafia Performance (Group) Highlander
I guess they deserve it for a perfect game. But I think this win was really the town's loss.
Worst Town Performance (Group) Highlander
I'm not sure I've ever seen a town play this badly. Seriously, this was just... ug.
Worst Mafia Performance (Group) Joss Whedon
I personally believe this setup meant it was just a matter of how long it took the mafia to lose, but our play didn't help the situation. It was pretty much a morbid display of panic/implosions and desperate attempts to rescue the imploding players.
Best (False?) Role Claim (Individual) MandersHex - American Pie
It was just dumb luck, but it was truly a thing of beauty.
Funniest (False?) Role Claim (Individual) Seppel - Joss Whedon
Seppel's Captain Hammer antics in Joss Whedon has to be the highlight of the game. Truly the most awesome series of posts and claim pretty much ever.
Best Town Player DesCoures
This guy is all-around solid, but his analytical skills are razor-sharp.
Best Mafia Player Seppel
Seppel has really found a brilliant balance of always appearing semi-scummy without getting too much suspicion, while at the same time gaining enough respect that towns take him seriously. He's proven to be quite dangerous as scum.
Best Overall Player DYH
DYH really impressed me this year with consistently strong performances as both town and scum.
Most Entertaining Player Seppel
If he doesn't win this there is no justice in mafia.
Mod Awards
Best Game Design Zionite - Heroes
I really loved watching this game. I think it found a wonderful balance of flavor, creativity, depth, and simplicity.
Most Creative Dagger - Dagger - Goo
This design was just packed with unique things and introduced a new twist that turned the game upside down without wrecking the gameplay. Not easy at do. At all.
Best Flavor Zionite - Heroes; HM: Zindabad - American Pie; Xyre - Asphodel Meadows
Really tough choice.
Most Interesting Role Sylar - Heroes (Zionite); HM: Iago - Manipulator (RafaelK); The MassGoonator - Goo (Dagger)
I loved the elegance of Sylar but moreso all the interesting interactions he had with other roles in the game. Iago was an extremely interesting role because it would have been stupidly broken in almost any other setup, but in Manipulator it was an incredibly elegant balancing factor. Dagger's MassGoonator had the potential to be soooo much fun. I was sad when it got killed off early.
Best Host Zindabad - American Pie
He really just did a bang-up job between attentiveness, design, flavor, etc. Yeah, it was just a basic, but he made feel like a bit more.
Current New Favorite Person™: Mallory Archer
She knows why.
V/LA: 3/21-3/24 & 3/27-3/29
thats pretty much the only vote i can cast since 26 was my first mafia game ever.
Good news, everyone!

Lair of the Cat (Mafia Stats)
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to those who remembered heroes mafia (a Normal, not mini), and who had nice things to say about it. I poured a lot into hosting that game and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it.
Also, Asphodel Meadows was the champion of flavor and design imo. Great roles, greater writing, and crosses the boundary between flavor and fiction.
Best players would be Cyouni as town, Cyan + Syrenz as scum, AsianInvasion in Heroes as the loving serial killer.
Here is to 2011 ladies(MH) and gentlemen.
Congrats to all the winners, and best of luck to everyone for the new year of Mafia!
It's a sign! You should have had more nice things to say about Syrenz!
