Lynch Mechanic
1. Votes should be bolded for them to apply in the game. E.g. Vote: Dagger
2. Unvotes should be bolded for them to apply in the game. E.g. Unvote: Dagger
3. You may Vote: No Lynch to end the current Day phase without lynching a player.
4. Unvoting a player first before voting another player is not necessary, but is appreciated and will put you in my good book.
5. Lynch will occur with a simple majority of votes. This is irreversible.
6. If a deadline is set, lynch will occur on the player with the highest number of votes at the deadline. If there is a tie, lynch will occur on the player who reaches that number of votes first. If there is no vote at all, No Lynch will occur.
Action Choices
1. There are two phases in this game: Day and Night.
2. There is a deadline for action choices. Abide by it. Any player who misses it will be counted as not submitting any action for that current phase, and will be put into my bad book.
3. Choices can be sent in advance if you won’t be available during the coming phase.
4. Any action choice is to be sent to me via PM, my preferred method of bookkeeping, and should have this game’s name in its title and the current phase listed. E.g. Goo Mafia Night 2
Upon the threat of replacement or modkill or blacklisting
1. Do not communicate, discuss, or even hint about this game with each other or with people outside of this game at all, unless your role explicitly gives you permission. This applies even when you are dead, unless permitted by me. I am the only person you can speak to.
2. Direct quoting or minor paraphrasing of your role PM or any PM at all from me is expressively forbidden. The same threat holds if you ask other players to do the same.
3. Modifying or deleting your posts in the game thread is expressively forbidden.
4. Posting in the game thread during the Night phase is expressively forbidden.
5. If you are dead, posting in the game thread is expressively forbidden. I will tolerate a “Bah” post on the condition there is no relevant information being conveyed to the living players, explicitly or implicitly.
6. Inform the game thread or me if you will be unavailable for more than a 72-hour period. No activity for the same period of time without prior notice will result in a prod being sent. Failure to respond to the prod is not optional.
7. Cryto-claiming and its variants are expressively forbidden.
8. Outing or revealing your scum mates, whether faked or otherwise, is expressively forbidden.
Miscellaneous
1. Please consult with me if you have any doubt or query. Better be safe than wrong. I don’t bite… much.
2. Any request to be made of me in the game thread is to be bolded.
3. Any request to be made of me in the PM should have this game’s name in its title.
4. Respect the Mod, the players, and the Forum Rules. This is not optional.
5. Have fun! This is not optional.

Sample Vanilla Town Role PM:
Dear Dagger,
You are Azure Goo.
Flavor:
All your life, you have been Goo-ing around. But that’s okay, because you’re not anyone important. Your entire point of existence is insignificant. Your whole purpose at living is to die right in the opening scene itself so that the other Goo can appreciate your demise for their personal sick twisted amusement. Alas, such is life and life is unfair. Suck it up.
Ability:
You may target another Goo at night.
Win Condition: Eliminate The Goo Mafia Collective.
It was a congregation of sorts. The first of its kind since, well, forever. And it was called by Dagger.
Dagger was an oddity. As a Goo, he was nothing exceptional. He looked like an amorphous blob of colored mass, like any other Goo. He swooned in a jelly-like manner whenever he was excited, like any other Goo. He bounced along as a flexible jumpy ooze-like sphere moving from one area to another, like any other Goo. He was in short, like any other Goo.
But unlike any other Goo, he was insane on a whole new level.
So when the call went out that Dagger invoked the forum congregation, citing the Apocalypse of all things Goo as we know it, no one took him seriously. Surrounding Dagger wobbling excitedly on a raised podium, were the 21 of you, apparently the only Goo that even took a remote interest in this emergency call by a crazy Goo.
It should prove entertaining.
Then Dagger started spouting about the Great Goo in the Goo Sky above, except that he called it the Green Goo. What heresy! And how in ancients past, the Green Goo was involved in a Great Game known as “Mafia”, a game supposedly charted the future of all sentient species from hence forward. And somehow this Green Goo, via its superior intellect and fine manipulation of the highest degree, managed to trick the other participants of the Great Game into becoming Green Goo themselves. And from that supposedly vital point onwards, the only sentient beings in existence have always been Green Goo. All of which was entirely ludicrous of course. While Green is a noble color for a Goo, it is hardly the only color. And to think that the Great Goo favored Green as its original color above all other colors. What heresy again! The Great Goo must have been a multicolored divine being of unfathomable depth, not this Green Goo thing that this Dagger guy repeatedly claimed.
Then Dagger gave a dire warning. An ancient Evil was stirring, he declared. An ancient enemy of the Great Game was finally awake, after eons of sleep to recuperate from its defeat. All of us must band together and conquer this Evil before it could fully mobilize, he urged, before all hope was lost. The Goo Mafia Collective must be defeated. Dagger pleaded, begged, frantic in his worry, twitching around like an anxious helpless thing.
You almost snorted at the poor fool. How did he come up with that name? His insanity was already beyond help. Oh well, the rant was beginning to get boring anyway. You all started to move, getting ready to leave, when the unexpected happened.
Dagger let out a horrified shriek, his body suddenly alighted with flames. The mass of his body began to boil, bubbling with the heat. Pops and crackles were heard with sickening clarity even as Dagger rolled down from the podium in a frenzy, trying to put out the flames.
He failed.
With an agonizing scream, the flames intensified. And with a loud sizzle, Dagger exploded spectacularly, his body mass splattering across the great hall. A bit of the flaming mass hit next to you and you flinched. The entire congregation was stunned. What the heck happened?
Dagger - Azure Goo, The Vanilla-Flavored Goo (Town) has been killed.
Then a sibilant voice reverberated throughout the hall, even as every entrance into it was suddenly slammed shut and sealed.
“You know of the truth that must not leave this hall. And there is a price for that truth. You will never leave this hall alive…”
The voice tapered off with a soft definitely-evil chuckle. The 21 of you looked at each other, suddenly very worried. You tested the nearest entrance. It didn’t even budge. With a terrible understanding, you now realized that something here in this hall wanted to see you all dead. And as of now, you were fighting for your very survival.
And above all else, you did not think you could do this alone.

Hi, I have decided that my role calls for me coming out almost immediately.
I have decided that perhaps my role could be best served by working with the town to advance myself, and the town.
I am a color changer, each night, i may change someone into a GOLDEN GOO! This is part of my win condition. There is another player out there who seeks to turn players into NON-Golden Goo. He is evil. (Atleast, my role PM calls him evil) I am from a Cosmic Goo Entity, he is from an evil cosmic goo entity.
Why did i come forth? I have reason to believe some powers are goo color related. As in, by changing some players colors, i could change their role powers / Gold-a-fy them. I would also, for offering this service, request being allowed to target neutrals and volunteers.
For Clarification: My win condition is to have more golden goo in the game at the end of the game then my competitor who seeks to out number me. If i die, my goospring will survive, and will count towards my win condition at the end of the game.
Reasoning for coming forward: I have a service to offer, and the town has no reason to not want it. (As the first post made it abundantly clear that there's powers that go off goo colors) And in exchange, I'm simply asking for volunteers to assist me.
Thank You.

I'm wondering if he can help the mafia as much as it an help town.

I will volunteer for this. I will point out for the benefit of everyone that I am a rational goo, and will say/do whatever is most likely to make me win the game.
So, SB you are "offering" to turn us into Golden Goo if we will let you?
And this is part of your win condition - to have more Goo be Gold at the end than your counterpart. You say that his goal is to turn people "non-golden" but doesn't that mean he's totally crushing you right now without doing anything? He doesn't have his own "color" that he is trying to make people?
And you *think* there may be benefits to the people who are turned Golden, on what basis? I don't quite see yet where this is a positive for the person who gets turned, it just seems to help you.
Also, can you only do this to one person a Night (basically, you have to pick someone)? It isn't one of those abilities that is triggered by people targeting you?

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
And I think you (Vezok) isn't being entirely useful.
SB role currently seems to put neither the town nor the mafia in danger. We will see what's gonna happening about that, but I think it's his problem if he is telling the truth, because his enemy would know who he is.
If he's lying, we will know it quickly.
By the way, I have no problem about being turned into any color. And moreover, Golden sounds class.
You know, would this be a good move for a Cultist? - to just come out at the beginning of the game and say "I need to recruit people - but it totally doesn't hurt you." Then, when you are recruited (and have a new win condition to outnumber everyone else or something) you come back the next day and confirm "yeah, I'm GOLD now, but nothing else changed!"
How would we ever know, I'm wondering?

I guess we might know if someone turns up dead and Gold, who is still listed as Town.

I change people gold. If you read the signups / flavor / initial posts, its greatly suggested that some powers are tied to a users color. And it is suggested that being golden will have its advantages.
Plus was it wise to reveal yourself to your competitor?
Þpotentially not. When I got this role I determined that since it isn't exclusive to winning with the town, and logically I should work with the town due to numbers. I have to outnumber my competitors color, and Þthe mafia are too few in number to be truly relevant. So, I ask for volunteers, offer a few advantages, and potentially offer a decent boon depending on how role powers work in this. I don't see why the town would really dislike it. The town has a 50% chance to win this, and much larger numbers, and my win con goes off numbers. The town is the best bet, and my claiming now gives me the best chance to survive and win with you. Whereas if I cloak and dagger'd it, and was forced to claim, I'd die out right. Its a big gamble, but it might pay off big as well.
doesen't affect our townieness why would it affect our power? But you didn't say anything about the town win con changing did you?
It won't affect your win con. I was concerned I was a cult varient, but all I do is turn you golden. This has some small advantages, and no disadvantages unless there's a vig who can only kill goo's whose colors are known... Beneficial roles are more likely then negative using this design.
And yes, I did make a typing error. Its outnumber his color, not ALL non-goldens. And to those claiming I'm a cultist, it would be royally stupid. Someone will die eventually from the golds, and If they were cultists, they'd be revealed immediately and I'd die. Not worth the miniscule advantage I get from claiming publically.
@robroy: thank you for you volunteering. It is once per night, and I figure that at the least, vanilla's and some roles will have disadvatages from being their base color. (Been lead to believe this) I will wait until more of the town chimes in.
Apologize that I only quoted cantripmancer, doing this from my bberry.

I really think the opposing party of SB should claim. If sb doesn't make us bad by being gold why should we be bad if we are non-golden.
I didn't say they'd be bad. Merely that my role pm states he follows an evil cosmic energy, whereas mine is good. (According to my pm). I'm sure that we're identical mechanically, but that that's the flavor.
Not to mention, I did come forth. I did offer my services, and I have done this in an open and pro-town manner.

Stormblind seems sincere, for now I think it's safe to let him be. It was a big chance he took, we could decide to just lynch him and not have to deal with it.
SB: Do you know that the golden color is exclusive, seems like it should be. I was wondering if we would turn into for example golden azure goo's, or just plain golden. Would make things a lot more interesting if we turned into golden/our color goo's. Also, any idea as to whether or not the change is permanent, like if the other non-gold guy targeted someone you have already targeted. Do you know any of this stuff?

You turn into golden goo. Shiny, shiny golden goo.

if he targets someone I've previously targetted, it'll turn his color unfortunately. Its why I'm hoping for some wifom In the game, and \ or he claims. It'd change the dynamic of how our roles work atleast. If I target someone, and he targets someone, appearently something unique happens. Dagger won't explain, but I recommend to my enemy not to do it.

Random people should definitely not go around targeting someone when they don't actually have an ability. This just gives any scum caught red-handed an easy out, and should be avoided at all costs.
Stormblind, you may turn me gold.
I assume that if you turn your rival gold or your rival turns you Color X the two of you would be able to target yourselves and turn yourselves your original color again. Otherwise, you outing yourself means your rival will target you and be at a huge advantage (-1 Gold +1 X) right off the bat with no hope for you to target yourself to reverse that swing.
vezokpiraka is probably town but is definitely annoying me.
@zchinque: a pool of choices would be great actually. Preferably not people who will die off immediately, but I would be willing to sacrifice a goldify to prove it doesn't become a cultist. I.e target a likely scum, he dies, comes up golden but not a cultist. You see I'm telling the truth.
A pool would be great, I could choose a target and continue to recruit from them and any expansions to the pool made. Basically allows for secrecy hopefully without hurting me too much in regards to my competitor. My thought is to hopefully setup a rapport with the town, and work with you. I am not a terrible player, and I hope to work with the town fully. The reason I'm hoping to prove my recruits aren't scum is so that I can hopefully get some good townie recruits.

If the evil nongolden goo is targeting you SB do you become evil too?
A variant of this occurred to me as well. What happens in the case of direct targeting?
Also, because it's been running around in my head for a while, story time. There was a Pokemon-themed mafia game on another site a while back where a number of the Pokemon had the ability Growl, which (IIRC) allowed them to randomly target people to no known game effect. Round about Day 6, after much discussion of this topic, one scum is backed into a corner and claims this:
k, i'm an eevee too.
i have these abilities:
Growl 10 (If a role is targeted by 5+ growls in the same night, non-lethal parts of their role are blocked (other roles have a form of growl but do not get this explanation))
Another player (Grakthis, for those of you who know him) asks him why he didn't come forward with this info before. When he says that he thought other people knew what it did, Grak explodes, asking him how the hell he could think that, and followed it up by making a post that consisted of the words "other roles have a form of growl but do not get this explanation" copied and pasted hundreds of times. The fallout was rather hilarious.
Anyway, the point being, I could easily believe that there are roles that want to be randomly targeted some number of times at night for effect, but I could also see vezokpiraka wanting to be targeted as either town or scum. He seems like the type to want to push any Big Red Buttons (tm) that are lying around.
The mod just corrected a misunderstanding: my goldens don't have to be alive. I simply gotta have more then my competitor.
So..m ill target whoever the town prefers. Townies, non townies. Whatever. Whoever you prefer. Let me know.
Look, ill be honest, I didn't have to tell anyone anything, but I feel this role is fairly pro-town, and as such, figured I'd out myself and work WITH you rather then at odds. Seems for the best.

Well if we need a doc protect we should know who we should target. I don''t want anyone to claim anything. I was just thinking loudly about it.
I used to be a new player too but I've never asked for the doc to actually step forward.
The doc, if there is one, is not to take this request seriously. Obv.
Vezok appears to be one of those 'stream of conciousness' types of players.
I hate those players.
Vote for Vigging: Stormblind. I call Cult-like role. I call anti-town. I no-trust him.
Also, i would strongly recommend the following:
There appears to be a mechanic here where at the very least multiple players have the ability to simply target another player....and do nothing that they know of.
Now, there are positive and negative implications of this mechanic. My point is this....i would like us to coordinate our targetting.
I'll go out and say this: I know that at least I have an ability that reads something like the following:
If X amount of people target me, I gain a one-shot ability.
I would suspect variants of such an ability exist on a few players at the least, and on both town and scum.
Which is why we should coordinate our targetting and do it out in the open....if we don't do it in the open and a scum player has such an ability, his fellow scum will (if they're not using other abilities) always use their targets on him, resulting in them more likely gaining the benefits of the mechanic.
---This is what happened in Tacronic mafia btw.

I love Joboman, Poggy, Niv, and Vezok, because, while they may not be the best players, they still try to win. Having fun is the most important thing to a game, but I've learned that if you don't try to win, then you're ruining everyone else's fun.
I'm wondering how the doc works.
He saves the guy if people target him or he saves the guy if people target him.
First, you said the same thing twice. Secondly, Docs normally protect their target, not anyone who targets the doc. Third, if anyone has any information otherwise for this game, please do not step forward with it.

Hmm. vezok already said that he would want to be targeted, but by no more than two people. I'm curious now if you have a similar upper limit, but am unsure if it is wise for you to claim that.
Without proof that we can keep track of what everyone is doing, though, I'm unwilling to go along with this plan. If the scum can know who everyone is targeting, and we don't have a way of catching the scum who promise to target X and actually shoot at Y, that seems to be giving up too much information.

It is now Day 1.
With 21 Goo alive, it’s 11 Goo to Lynch.

Thank You.

What exactly is that service? Plus was it wise to reveal yourself to your competitor? If it doesen't affect our townieness why would it affect our power? But you didn't say anything about the town win con changing did you?

SB role currently seems to put neither the town nor the mafia in danger. We will see what's gonna happening about that, but I think it's his problem if he is telling the truth, because his enemy would know who he is.
If he's lying, we will know it quickly.
By the way, I have no problem about being turned into any color. And moreover, Golden sounds class.

I guess we might know if someone turns up dead and Gold, who is still listed as Town.
Axelrod : If being turned into golden can hurt our conditions of win, I believe the mod will inform us of that fact.

I change people gold. If you read the signups / flavor / initial posts, its greatly suggested that some powers are tied to a users color. And it is suggested that being golden will have its advantages.
Any volunteers?

Why all this volunteering?
WHY DID DAGGER DIE!?!?!
Do you know any of this stuff?
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?u=52729
I answered as best I can. I apologize, daggers being pretty quiet about it.
Also, what are people's thoughts on whether or not vanillas/players not using an ability should go around targeting people at night?
Personally, I'm against it.

Vote Talore
A pool would be great, I could choose a target and continue to recruit from them and any expansions to the pool made. Basically allows for secrecy hopefully without hurting me too much in regards to my competitor. My thought is to hopefully setup a rapport with the town, and work with you. I am not a terrible player, and I hope to work with the town fully. The reason I'm hoping to prove my recruits aren't scum is so that I can hopefully get some good townie recruits.

He saves the guy if people target him or he saves the guy if people target him.

What could possibly be the use speculating at that?

So, someone needs to keep track of the following:
Targetting_Choices_For_The_Next_Night.
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
First, you said the same thing twice. Secondly, Docs normally protect their target, not anyone who targets the doc. Third, if anyone has any information otherwise for this game, please do not step forward with it.
If he is in a cult, the first time a cult member flips as non-town we take out SB. No muss, no fuss, no need for preemptive action.
Hmm. vezok already said that he would want to be targeted, but by no more than two people.
