That was a shocker. As I commented to AI just yesterday, I felt sure Ravus was down and out. The flavor plainly gave him away, I thought, and his actions gave him the lie as well.
Sigh. Can't believe that actually happened.
Gigas, why did you have to lynch AE before I could answer?
And why the heck did the mafia kill me - the obviously screwed-up cop?
Sigh. Can't believe that actually happened.
Gigas, why did you have to lynch AE before I could answer?
And why the heck did the mafia kill me - the obviously screwed-up cop?
Because when you copped AE and he turned up town dead, we assumed you had figured out you were messed up, possibly paranoid.
Sir Auron25, you are Grand Arbiter Augustin IV - Mafia Roleblocker. Flavor: Though you are the supreme voice of law and order on the plane of Ravnica, the mutterings of Isperia grow more obscure every day and you tire of your civic duties. The day you met Szadek is not one you will soon forget. The ageless vampire appeared suddenly in your chambers and politely informed you that if the Guildpact were to be dissolved, control of all nine guilds would surely fall into your hands. Being shrewder than even the nefarious being before you, you deduced that he is the hidden Guildmaster of the forgotten Dimir, the secret tenth guild. Though you knew that he has an agenda all his own, his promise of power was too alluring to ignore. With no hint of remorse, you accepted his offer and forged a psychic link with the dark lord of secrets. Day Ability: You may vote. Faction Abilities: During Night, you may communicate with your teammate Ravus (Szadek, Lord of Secrets) via PM or QT. All such PMs must also be sent to your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier).
Once per night, either you or your teammate may PM your moderator the name of another player to kill. If successful, that player will die that Night. Unique Ability: Silencing.
Once per Night, you may PM your moderator to roleblock an enemy. If successful, that player will be unable to perform any Night actions that Night. Win Condition: You win when the number of live players that do not belong to your faction is less than or equal to your faction's number.
[Mod Note: If the Mafia attempt to kill Rakdos, the Cult joins the Mafia instead. Augustin is not Jailed by Sisters.]
This role initially had a one-shot mass RB, but I thought that would make the role too easy to use while being useless in the late game. Having the roleblock flavor match the jail flavor was also important to keep the players guessing. Augustin is immune to the Sister's Jail attempts because he's a RB himself and to include some enemy guild tension into the game.
Sir Auron25 attracted too much attention to himself by fence-sitting and not doing much in general D1, but was fortunate in that there was a better lynch option available Days One through Three. He made some good suggestions in the scum chat, though.
Flavor: You are cultured and refined, much too noble for the common filth that runs around the streets of Ravnica. After being shown the infinite potential of planeswalking by the charming Sorin Markov, you hunger for the potential to leave your wretched prison of a plane for more vibrant worlds. Through your studies of Ravnican lore, you know that whoever shatters the Guildpact and controls all ten guilds will gain the power to convert the mana of the plane into a planeswalker's spark, and this is your ultimate goal. Whether others die along the way is irrelevant to your interests. The greedy human Augustin IV was all too eager to become your psychic puppet, and it is time to take what is rightfully yours. Day Ability: You may vote. Faction Abilities: During Night, you may communicate with your teammate Sir Auron25 (Grand Arbiter Augustin IV) via PM or QT. All such PMs must also be sent to your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier).
Once per night, either you or your teammate may PM your moderator the name of another player to kill. If successful, that player will die that Night. Unique Ability: Invisibility.
You cannot be the target of any actions while you live. Actions that target you are actions that mention you by name. Note that you may still be lynched or be affected by secondary effects of actions, so long as the action does not target you. Win Condition: You win when the number of live players that do not belong to your faction is less than or equal to your faction's number.
[Mod Note: If the Mafia attempt to kill Rakdos, the Cult joins the Mafia instead.]
I like untargetable roles because they allow the player to play the game without worrying about Night actions affecting him, as well as allowing players to pull gambits involving tricking the other side into wasting an action by targeting him. Having Szadek be invisible was probably the first role idea that came to mind.
Ravus played pretty well as scum leading the town, but the odds were certainly stacked against him in the endgame. In trying to keep close to the flavor of the source material, I perhaps made Ravus's role seem scummier than it should have been, which was my mistake. Since the game came down to a coin flip at the end, I'm tempted to say that my brute force balancing act more or less fixed what was an impending disaster.
Mafia MVP
Silent Prophet r. Archon Kamigawa r. ratfinkp, you are Rakdos the Defiler - Cultist Reviver.
Flavor: Ravnica is your house, and you throw one hell of a party. The Guildpact never meant anything to you, so long as it didn't hinder the hedonistic life you've enjoyed for ages. You've heard the rumors that there are those who would end it, but you couldn't care less. While you're having fun and killing people, the woes of the world mean nothing to you. Sometimes a real party animal gets killed while you're rocking out, but for a demon like you, that's no obstacle. As a master of dark magic you can breathe new life into the dead, and those lucky enough to rejoin the party never look back. Damn, it feels good to be a cultist. Day Ability: You may vote. Faction Ability: During Day or Night, you may communicate with your teammate via PM or QT, but only after that player has been successfully revived. All such PMs must also be sent to your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier). Unique Ability: Revival.
Once per game, during Night, you may revive a dead Town-aligned player by sending your moderator that player's name. If successful, that player will return to life and will secretly join your faction, losing any previous win conditions and gaining your win condition for as long as that player lives. That player will also be able to use any abilities associated with that player's role, and any one-time use abilities will be restored for an additional usage if depleted. Win Condition: You win when the number of live players that do not belong to your faction is less than or equal to your faction's number.
[Mod Note: If the Mafia attempt to kill Rakdos, the Cult joins the Mafia instead. If Vig mimics Rakdos, Vig joins the Cult.]
I really liked this role, but it turns out that people in general don't like playing against a cult. I think it has something to do with turning your allies against you, but I digress. This role probably screwed over the town the most simply because they had to use another lynch on joboman instead of taking out SA. This means that joboman was indeed a Cultist. I didn't think it would be terribly fair if the Cultist got NK'd before he could even get started, so I borrowed a trick from Order of the Stick to keep the Cult in the game. Having Vig convert by mimicking Rakdos was an inclusion to maintain the flavor of enemy guilds and to give the Cult a slightly better shot at winning. Both conversions would simply have the flavor of a bad guy seeing a good deal and taking it.
Silent Prophet and Archon Kamigawa were nonentities in this game, which isn't surprising given how different the role was. When joboman revealed that he was a cultist it effectively doomed SP, since he hadn't attracted much attention aside from being a lurker.
Third Party MVP
Gigas1 r. Clem, you are Borborygmos - Town Vigilante.
Flavor: You're a simple cyclops. Then again, all cyclopses are. As long as you have a full belly and are resting on the toppled spires of your enemies, it's a good day. The people of Ravnica are too uptight, and sometimes you just want to squash all of the little people, but your mother always told you that the Guildpact is good magic, and that the world would end if it were ever violated. Good old mom. You know better than to eat guilded folk or crush any guildhalls. But when your clan-mates started disappearing and dying, you knew that you couldn't sit idly by while the other guilds ignored your family. It's time to pick up your war club and bring the pain. Day Ability: You may vote. Unique Ability: Destruction.
Once per game, during Night, you may PM your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier), the name of another player to kill. If successful, that player will die that Night. Win Condition: You win when only town players live.
[Mod Note: If Borborygmos tries to kill Ghost Council, Borborygmos dies instead.]
I also like vig roles because of how skill-testing they are. In my experience, very bad players and very good players vig ASAP and at every opportunity they have. Everyone else, especially those with limited-shot vig roles, waits until they are reasonably sure that they have found scum before firing away. Having Borby suicide if he targeted Ghost Council was another enemy guild flavor element. The flavor would have been very similar to that of the concluding scene of the game, with evil laughter striking terror into Borby's heart and driving him mad.
Clem didn't do much except prove his role through his first post. Gigas1 lurked hard for the first two Days, but really stepped it up a notch in the end. Too bad he was too focused on Lucknorris's n00b mistakes to see Ravus's opportunism for the scum-tell it was. If he had looked back and seen that joboman confirmed Lucknorris (as town/cult) he would have realized that the town would be guaranteed to win if Ravus died.
Flavor: Some Ravnicans label the Conclave a group of "religious fanatics," or worse, "mindless nut-jobs." Their ignorance is shameful, but you are wiser than to sink to their level of base insults and crude behavior. Ever since Mat'Selesnya sacrificed herself to protect the Guildpact, you knew that the time would come when its enemies would rise again to destroy it. You do not know who these evil ones are, but you are determined to stop them at all costs. With the power of your faith, your righteous fury cannot be blunted, and those villains won't make a martyr out of you. May Her will be done. Day Ability: You may vote. Unique Ability: Holiness.
You cannot be lynched as long as another player of your faction lives. If you receive enough votes to be lynched, the Day ends in a No Lynch instead. Note that you may still die via other means and any other actions still affect you. Win Condition: You win when only town players live.
[Mod Note: If Niv-Mizzet is voting Chorus of the Conclave, Chorus loses Holiness.]
I thought this role was interesting, but it probably encourages lazy play from newer players because they have little motivation to defend themselves if they can't be lynched. Realizing this, I added the clause that the Day would end in No Lynch so that the player can't simply claim, have the claim tested, and then get a free pass based on role alone. The enemy guild flavor element also throws a wrench into the works. Niv-Mizzet would have sped up time for the Chorus until they became so weak that their shield dissipated.
Lucknorris did a pretty good job for his first game, fighting against the accusations and trying to stay active. In the end Ravus simply applied more pressure, which convinced Gigas1 to lynch Lucknorris.
Flavor: As a collection of eternal spirits, many Ravnicans would think that you have no attachment to the material world. Fools. It's plain as day that you exist because of the material, though being immortal is a nice plus. The wealth in Orzhov's coffers pleases you more than the idea of a restful death. You gladly advise your pontiffs and scions, bringing in more gold with every convert to your glorious Church. The Guildpact has been good to the Orzhov. As long as there is a need for entrepreneurs, you will exist. Preserving its magic is strictly for business, and you're a cutthroat group of businessmen. Day Ability: You may vote. Unique Ability: Immortality.
You cannot be killed during Night as long as another player of your faction lives. Note that you may still die via other means and any other effects of Night actions still affect you. Win Condition: You win when only town players live.
[Mod Notes: Razia will believe Ghost Council and Sisters are Enemies of the Guildpact.]
This role is troublesome for the Mafia, as evidenced when they wasted their first kill on it. In the hands of a strong player, this role is backbreaking. Making it a miller balances it slightly, especially since the claim seems like the ideal scum false claim, though it certainly couldn't be a scum ability. If the vig were to volunteer to test the claim, he'd get an unpleasant surprise...
Archmage Eternal played pretty well, but Cyouni was somewhat suspicious of him from the start, having tried to investigate him on N1. However, the Jail from Apokalypse Kid delayed that investigation until N2, which was just as well because he got the wrong result.
Flavor: Being the most intelligent being on Ravnica, you know all too well that the rending of the Guildpact would be disastrous. As a result, you have taken it upon yourself to perfect your chronomancy in an effort to protect the plane from those who would doom it. It wasn't easy, but if anyone could do it, it was obviously you. Slowing down time for an entire plane while allowing those in your vicinity to interact normally was a nice bit of wizardry, and you'll have to write that spell down. On second thought, it might be best if you kept this knowledge secret. You wouldn't want its power to fall into the wrong hands. Look at the time! You really should get back to hunting down the traitors. Day Ability: You may vote. Unique Ability: Chronomancy.
Once per Night, you may PM your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier), to slow the passage of time. If successful, the next Night will be skipped, and there will be two sequential Days instead. Win Condition: You win when only town players live.
[Mod Note: If Niv-Mizzet is voting Chorus of the Conclave, Chorus loses Holiness.]
This is one of my favorite roles in the game, even if using it is a fairly obvious decision. The Mafia hate the double-Day, but the Town still have to lynch correctly to be able to use it effectively. Also, the result of the first lynch wouldn't have been revealed until after the second lynch, so the Town wouldn't be able to dissect the wagon before lynching again.
claytonthegreat did a good job despite being forced to claim very early. The scum correctly prevented him from using his ability, which is too bad because I wanted to see what the Town would do with a double-Day.
Apokalypse Kid r. wamyc r. pheonixtearz0507, you are Sisters of Stone Death - Town Doctor.
Flavor: Age before beauty? Hardly. You are the most beautiful and most deadly of them all. Not that those gutless Ravnicans can appreciate your gifts. Most just turn into stone, as if you were a mere basilisk! At least you can undo your magic, or you'd have a pretty nasty reputation among dating circles. As a side benefit, those you petrify are invulnerable to both physical and magical attacks. Most men get hard around you, but you never expected anyone to ask to get stoned! You certainly don't want the Guildpact ruined, since all of the hunky guys would get killed in the fighting afterward. And what a waste that would be. You'd better get the girls ready for a wild night. Day Ability: You may vote. Unique Ability: Protection.
Once per Night, you may PM your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier), the name of another player to protect. If successful, that player will survive the first attack of that Night. Win Condition: You win when only town players live.
[Mod Notes: Sisters also roleblock their protection targets unless they target Augustin. Razia will believe Sisters are Enemies of the Guildpact.]
In retrospect, having the doc secretly be a jailer was probably a poor choice. The point of the doc is to protect the Town's power roles, not nerf them. Having the jailer also be a miller just made the role a huge liability for the Town.
Apokalypse Kid was a quick study and figured out that he was RBing his targets...sort of. He figured out that SA was scum and tried to block him N2 but failed. He then tried to block Lucknorris and failed because SA blocked him. Lastly he tried to block Ravus to verify his claim and failed...then died. That he basically neglected to explain to the other players that he RB'd Cyouni probably saved his skin but really messed up the Town.
Flavor: Ravnica is corrupt. You can feel it from your toes to your wingtips. You knew, all those millennia ago, that the enchanted document Azor crafted would not last forever. Even among you Paruns, you could sense the vile taint of treachery. It's up to you to purge the plane of the deceivers and restore order to your fair world. With keen eye and sharp ear, you are the only being capable of uncovering the truth, as unbearable as it may be. Justice is blind, but revenge is sweet indeed. By your flaming sword, those who would see the Guildpact fail must be slain. Day Ability: You may vote. Unique Ability: Investigation. Once per Night, you may PM your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier), the name of a player to investigate. If successful, you will be sent a PM revealing that player's alignment. Win Condition: You win when only town players live.
[Mod Note: Razia will believe Ghost Council and Sisters are Enemies of the Guildpact.]
I HATE COPS. I think they are the laziest kind of role because they discourage post analysis, but this game really needed a cop for flavor reasons. I didn't like the idea of having a full cop in the game, which is one of the reasons it got nerfed by the inclusion of millers. The investigations in this game offered flavor regarding the roles being investigated along with the alignment, which wasn't really necessary since there wasn't any room for false-claims. (Yeah, that's bad design...)
Cyouni did a really good job, pressuring players and staying active, even though joboman seemed to drive him a little crazy. I was kind of surprised that the scum killed Cyouni after he led to AE's mislynch, but Cyouni's play had been very pro-Town, so in the end I can't disagree with that NK decision.
Flavor: You are one busy elf. When you're not overseeing the grafting of experimental cytoplasts onto initiates, you’re conducting dangerous experiments in your breeding pool. Kraj is the most marvelous thing you've created, but it is incomplete. You must sample and harvest the most potent abilities from across Ravnica to complete your life's work. If the Guildpact were to crumble, the ensuing chaos would make it all but impossible to make progress. For the sake of science, you must stop the rogues who would ruin all you've worked so hard to accomplish. They might be surprised when they see what you're hiding underneath your lab coat. Day Ability: You may vote. Unique Ability: Biomancy.
Once per Night, you may PM your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier), the name of another player to mimic. If successful, you gain the unique ability of that player (and retain your unique ability) until you mimic another player, at which point you lose the previous ability and gain the new ability. You may use a mimicked ability the same night that you mimic another player. You cannot target the same player twice during one game with the mimic ability, and one-time use abilities may only be used once. Win Condition: You win when only town players live.
[Mod Note: If Vig mimics Rakdos, Vig joins the Cult.]
I think this was the most creative and powerful role, and definitely had some crazy potential in this game. Vig wouldn't have suffered from any of the hidden drawbacks of the roles he copied, either. I didn't like the idea of the Town getting a Reviver due to its already insanely high concentration of power roles, which was another reason for having Vig auto-convert if he targeted Rakdos. I want to use this role again in a game, but the flavor has to be just right.
joboman played like joboman. He was all over the place and I can't blame the Town for lynching him twice. He had some good theories and was certainly active, but in the end he was probably too aggressive as both Town and Revived Cult. I have to say that watching him play was entertaining, though. If his arguments were better he may have gotten SA lynched instead, which would have been very good for him as either Town or Cult.
Ravus – NK Archmage Eternal (Failed) Sir Auron25 – RB claytonthegreat
Silent Prophet & joboman’s Revival PM: In the dead of Night, Silent Prophet sneaks back into the main hall of Prahv. joboman's body lies still in a pool of blood, where it was left brutally dismembered. With a shock of recognition, joboman's ghost recognizes Silent Prophet as Rakdos, the Defiler. Incorporeal, joboman's ghost can only watch as the demon sets to work reviving his body. Slowly but surely, the biomancer's blood begins to flow back into his body as his flesh is reanimated with dark magic. With a throaty chuckle, Silent Prophet places joboman's head onto his body, which suddenly spasms as it returns to life.
joboman has been revived, and is no longer a Guardian of the Guildpact. Now joboman is member of the Cult of Rakdos, but retains all abilities he had in life.
joboman's new Win Condition: You win when the number of live players that do not belong to your faction is less than or equal to your faction's number.
joboman and Silent Prophet’s Mimic PM: Feeling much better now that his body is in one piece again, joboman searches for the chambers of Cyouni. When joboman steps through the door, however, he is surprised to discover that Cyouni is standing completely still in the center of the room. Recovering from this surprise, joboman takes a sample of hair from the immobile Cyouni and returns to his own bunk. There, he synthesizes the genetic material from Cyouni’s hair and grafts himself with a cytoplast enhanced with Cyouni’s magical ability.
joboman has mimicked the following ability. Unique Ability: Investigation. Once per Night, you may PM your moderator, AsianInvasion (Transguild Courier), the name of a player to investigate. If successful, you will be sent a PM revealing that player's alignment. Ravus and Sir Auron25’s NK and RB PM: After agreeing as to their course of action, Ravus and Sir Auron25 leave their quarters with evil on their minds.
Ravus seeks out Archmage Eternal, eager to drain the minds of the living. However, as soon as Ravus approaches Archmage Eternal’s room, a maniacal laugh issues forth from the darkness. Despite his vampiric thirst and nerves of steel, the soulless sounds chill Ravus to the bone. Less than eager to risk entering Archmage Eternal’s chambers without reinforcements, Ravus reluctantly returns without so much as a drop of psychic energy.
Sir Auron25 is more successful. Climbing the stairs to Prahv’s highest tower, he chuckles quietly to himself. claytonthegreat is standing facing the window as Sir Auron25 ascends into the quiet spire. An aura of magic surrounds claytonthegreat, who is apparently deep in magical thought. Sir Auron25 quietly chants a spell of his own, and a bolt of blue energy strikes claytonthegreat in the back. Frozen cold, claytonthegreat is unable to finish his spell, and Sir Auron25 laughs out loud as he returns to the lower levels of the guildhall.
claytonthegreat’s Slow Time PM: Eager to stop another unfortunate death, claytonthegreat begins casting his chronomantic spell as soon as he returns to his tower. Facing the open window, he concentrates on the ancient runes and symbols that form the spell’s contents, an aura of magic surrounding his body. All goes well until claytonthegreat is suddenly struck from behind. Before he can even cry out in surprise, claytonthegreat is rendered completely immobile, his chronomancy left uncast. By the time he is able to move again, the sun is rising and it is once again time to face the congregation below.
Apokalypse Kid’s Jail PM: Sure that Cyouni’s claim is valid, Apokalypse Kid sets out to protect him from any harm by the traitors. Instead of heading to his quarters, he immediately runs for Cyouni’s chambers. Apokalypse Kid bursts through the doors, hoping he is not too late to save Cyouni. Immediately upon entering the room, Apokalypse Kid sees a huge sword and panics, turning the figure before him into stone. Cyouni is thus frozen where he stands in the middle of the room, polishing his blade. Apokalypse Kid calms down after seeing that there is no sign of evildoers in the vicinity, and leaves with the knowledge that no harm will befall Cyouni while he is stoned.
Cyouni’s Investigation PM: Despite the failure of the previous Day, Cyouni is sure that he will be able to avenge joboman’s death by uncovering the true conspirators. After retiring to his chambers, he unsheathes his sword and begins to polish it, readying it for any action it may see before the dawn. Just as Cyouni prepares to bless the blade with holy fire, he is suddenly struck from behind. Before he can even cry out in surprise, Cyouni is rendered completely immobile, his investigation left undone. By the time he is able to move again, the sun is rising and it is once again time to face the congregation below.
joboman’s Investigation PM: Equipped with his newly grafted ability, joboman seeks out Lucknorris, sure that his slaying earlier in the Day was a malicious act. When joboman slips into Lucknorris’s quarters, Lucknorris is snoring loudly. joboman quietly scans the contents of the room and sees nothing but a small tree on a table. The tree has a soft green aura about it, and joboman can almost hear it whispering softly to him. Unwilling to stay any longer than necessary, joboman returns to his demonic master, convinced that Lucknorris is a Guardian of the Guildpact.
Night Two: Ravus – Kill claytonthegreat Sir Auron25 – RB claytonthegreat
Gigas1 – NK Silent Prophet claytonthegreat – Slow Time (Failed) Apokalypse Kid – Protect Sir Auron25 Cyouni – Investigate Archmage Eternal (False)
Ravus and Sir Auron25’s NK and RB PM: Irritated at their lack of progress the Night before, Ravus and Sir Auron25 decide to team up to take out one of the bigger thorns in their side.
They ascend to the chambers of claytonthegreat, and when they arrive, the ancient dragon is again deep in meditation and unaware of the two intruders behind him. Cackling with glee, Sir Auron25 strikes claytonthegreat in the back with a blue bolt, paralyzing him completely. Frozen cold, claytonthegreat is helpless as Ravus bears his fangs and begins to feed on the mighty mind of the Izzet’s Parun. Within minutes all that remains of claytonthegreat is an empty shell, which Ravus contemptuously annihilates, leaving no trace of the victim or his ghost.
Satisfied with a job well done, Ravus and Sir Auron25 return to the guildhall for the next Day’s deliberations.
Gigas1’s NK PM: Angry that the betrayers have not yet been stopped, Gigas1 is prepared to take matters into his own beefy hands. He smashes down the door to Silent Prophet’s quarters, and sees a grisly spectacle. Various zombies and ghosts are being destroyed and reanimated in turn as Silent Prophet laughs maniacally at the endless cycle of twisted necromancy. Barely able to keep from retching, Gigas1 leaps over the nearest group of undead and smashes Silent Prophet’s head to bits in one mighty blow. The swing is so forceful that Gigas1’s maul snaps in two, but that does not distress the cyclops. With a large grin on his bearded face, Gigas1 leaves the desecrated room while the amassed spirits flee, moaning at the loss of their master.
claytonthegreat’s Slow Time PM: Already weary of the endless deliberations without success, claytonthegreat retires to his makeshift aerie, prepared to attempt another chronomantic spell. However, no sooner does he enter his magical trance than is he again struck from behind. Frozen cold, he is unable to struggle as a sinister force drains him of his mind. Dark sorcery destroys his body and his ghost, leaving nothing behind but dust.
Apokalypse Kid’s Protect PM: Disbelieving Sir Auron25’s claim to be a defender of justice, Apokalypse Kid is ready to stop him from harming another delegate during the Night. Strangely, when he arrives at Sir Auron25’s room, there is no one inside. Apokalypse Kid patiently waits all Night, but sees no one enter the room. At dawn, he gives up and returns to the guildhall, tired and irritable.
Cyouni’s Investigation PM: Determined to avoid a fate similar to that of the previous Night, Cyouni heads straight for the room of Archmage Eternal after leaving the guildhall. Before even entering, he can hear maniacal laughter reverberating through the ancient stone walls. With a feeling of dread, Cyouni stands before the wooden door and knocks loudly. The door opens with a creak and the sight before Cyouni shocks him from his wingtips to his toes. A mass of dark spirits flies in a frenzied circle around a fountain of molten gold as a flock of thrulls chirp and leap excitedly. The magic of the dark dance causes the gold to rise up from the fountain and bind itself onto the wretched flesh of the screeching thrulls with a loud sizzle and the stench of burning flesh. Unwilling to assault such a large gathering of foul creatures, Cyouni quickly returns to his chambers, sure that Archmage Eternal is an Enemy of the Guildpact.
Silent Prophet’s Death PM: Displeased at the lynch of your follower, you retire to your chambers and begin to play with some corpses you brought with you, destroying them and reanimating them with glee. All of a sudden, Gigas1 storms into your room and smashes your skull in with his maul.
Ravus & Sir Auron25’s NK and RB PM: In glee over their silently successful Day, Ravus and Sir Auron25 come up with a sinister plot for the Night.
Ravus seeks out Cyouni, but is unable to find him in his chambers. After stalking the quiet corridors for hours, Ravus finally spies the parun of the Boros leaving the room of Lucknorris with a hardened look on his face. With a broad smile, Ravus leaps onto his prey, and begins to feed on Cyouni’s mind. Taken by surprise, Cyouni attempts to fight off his invisible attacker, firing a Lightning Helix over his shoulder. The spell misses the wily Ravus, who has assassinated countless pyromancers over the millennia since the Guildpact’s signing. Losing strength, Cyouni stops struggling as Ravus completes his grisly meal. Having devoured all of Cyouni’s mind, Ravus expunges his body in the same way he removed that of claytonthegreat, leaving no trace of the fiery angel.
Meanwhile, Sir Auron25 makes his way to the quarters of Apokalypse Kid. With a quiet giggle, Sir Auron25 knocks on the door while announcing his presence. The door swings open, as it was unlocked, and Sir Auron25 discovers Apokalypse Kid undressing inside. Catching quite an eyeful of flesh, Sir Auron25 quickly recovers from his surprise and casts a stasis spell, freezing Apokalypse Kid in place.
The two conspirators happily return to the guildhall, their dark deeds done.
Apokalypse Kid’s Jail PM: Convinced that Lucknorris is one of the Enemies of the Guildpact, Apokalypse Kid resolves to prevent him from attacking anyone else before dawn. However, the shocking death of Archmage Eternal and the subsequent miasma that issued forth ate away at Apokalypse Kid’s clothes, which didn’t cover up much to begin with. Before setting out for his mission, Apokalypse Kid goes to his chambers to change into garments more likely to survive the Night. However, as soon as he removes his tattered blouse, an unwelcome visitor bursts into his room and paralyzes him where he stands. Struck from behind, Apokalypse Kid has no choice but to stare at the stone wall, topless, as his attacker flees with a cackling laugh. Apokalypse Kid is finally able to move again as the sun rises over the guildhall and the next Day of deliberations begins.
Cyouni’s Investigate PM: Devastated at the results of the previous Day, Cyouni begins to doubt his own abilities as an investigator, thinking deeply on the final cryptic warning Archmage Eternal gave before his demise. Unready to give up hope, Cyouni sets out to verify the claims of joboman by questioning Lucknorris. When Cyouni slips into Lucknorris’s quarters, Lucknorris is snoring loudly. Cyouni quietly scans the contents of the room and sees nothing but a small tree on a table. The tree has a soft green aura about it, and Cyouni can almost hear it whispering softly to him. Unwilling to stay any longer than necessary, Cyouni leaves, convinced that Lucknorris is a Guardian of the Guildpact.
However, an invisible attacker pounces on Cyouni in the quiet corridor outside. Struggling against the hidden aggressor, Cyouni attempts to strike back with a Lightning Helix, but the spell misses completely. Soon he loses his strength as a sinister force drains him of his mind. Dark sorcery destroys his body and his ghost, leaving nothing behind but dust.
Ravus’s NK PM: After having betrayed Sir Auron25 during the Day, Ravus prepares himself for his first solo nocturnal mission.
Returning to his chambers, he summons the ghost of Sir Auron25 and forcibly banishes it to Agyrem, not trusting it to remain silent during the pivotal Day ahead.
As soon as the spirit rift closes, Apokalypse Kid bursts into the room with an angry hiss. Ravus quickly leaps to the rafters, and blends into the shadows. Unable to find the elusive vampire, Apokalypse Kid turns in frustration and begins to leave. Ravus then pounces on the vulnerable gorgon and begins to feast on his mind. Apokalypse Kid attempts to petrify his attacker, but cannot make eye contact with the invisible Ravus. The Golgari guildmaster soon succumbs to the mental drain, and his body and mind are annihilated thereafter.
Ravus smiles grimly following his macabre feast, thinking of the Day to come. He sits in a chair and closes his eyes, resting briefly before returning to the main hall, eager to leave the wretched plane of Ravnica once and for all.
Apokalypse Kid’s Jail PM: Satisfied with the death of the traitorous Arbiter, Apokalypse Kid is intent on verifying Ravus’s claim to be untargetable. When Apokalypse Kid charges into Ravus’s chambers, he finds no one there. Frustrated, he turns around and starts to head back to bed.
However, an invisible attacker pounces on Apokalypse Kid just before he reaches the door. Struggling against the hidden aggressor, Apokalypse Kid attempts to strike back by petrifying the assaulter, but finds it impossible to stone that which cannot be seen. Soon he loses his strength as a sinister force drains him of his mind. Dark sorcery destroys his body and his ghost, leaving nothing behind but dust.
I'm pretty annoyed that I had no hint of being a jailhouse doc. Had I known that I had been a jailhouse doc going into night one, I would have played night one differently.
We live in a country were ~50% of the populace believe public schooling is a socialist conspiracy and that being called Einstein is an insult. We could try and fix it, but unfortunately the other 50% don't believe in euthanasia.

I'm sorry that I nerfed your role so hard. I didn't think the setup was fair at all, and I didn't want to only tell one person that his role changed, so I simply made the changes in secret. Hopefully you understand.
it's official, I'm annoyed, we could have won this. RAVUS, I will avenge the fallen one day. In fact daykill ravus
Too late, I've already "planeswalked away".
I can't believe that worked out for me. I had a huge, great post prepared for that last Saturday I didn't show up (because I expected to be dead before that point ), but didn't save it, and I felt pretty bad with my posts following that, I could've tried a lot harder to sell that Luck was scum. Oh well, I guess I mind☺☺☺☺ed Gigas well enough as it is.
Oh, and Gigas, I'll give you that cookie anyway:

I was just hoping you guys would see how active Ravus became at the end and the two votes, him and SA.
Yeah, I really do have limited time online, but using that as an excuse for lurking in plain sight isn't above me.
I also felt obligated to post more when it got down to the wire. After night one, we felt screwed, we were so far behind, and night three evened things out for us (thanks, joboman, for claiming cult and redirecting Gigas' kill away from Auron :hifive:). I knew all along that I'd be ☺☺☺☺ed by my claim, and dreaded a massclaim (it was offered up day one, and I about resigned right there :ugh:), but was able to avoid it long enough and dissuade attention well enough to apparently make my claim believable. Much thanks to Gigas and Apokalypse Kid for that.
Edit: And AI, did you give a link to the mafia quick-topic?

Thank Apkalypse Kid for that. What he said at the end of the last day really helped convince me of Luck's scumminess. If I would have paid a bit more attention to SA's last post, I probably would have voted you.

I was hoping you were going to do as you offered, and set up posts arguing points against each of us, as I was prepared to argue-down all of the minor points against me, while blowing up the argument against Luck. In the end, it worked out anyway, so I'm cool.

"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
Gigas, why did you have to lynch AE before I could answer?
And why the heck did the mafia kill me - the obviously screwed-up cop?
Because when you copped AE and he turned up town dead, we assumed you had figured out you were messed up, possibly paranoid.
Bugger.
Thanks.
No. I'm not really sure why joboman assumed that.
Correct.
Before I forget, a big thank you to all of the replacements. Without you, there wouldn't have been a game.

Ravus, you are Szadek, Lord of Secrets - Mafia Infiltrator.
Mafia MVP
Town MVP
Ravus – NK Archmage Eternal (Failed)

joboman – Mimic Cyouni; Investigate Lucknorris
Gigas1 – No action
claytonthegreat – Slow Time (Failed)
Apokalypse Kid – Jail Cyouni
Cyouni – Investigate Archmage Eternal (Failed)
Resolution Order:

3. joboman’s Mimic
4. clayton’s Slow Time (Failed) & Cyouni’s Investigation (Failed) & joboman’s Investigation
5. Ravus’s NK (Failed)
Silent Prophet & joboman’s Revival PM:
In the dead of Night, Silent Prophet sneaks back into the main hall of Prahv. joboman's body lies still in a pool of blood, where it was left brutally dismembered.
Now joboman is member of the Cult of Rakdos, but retains all abilities he had in life.
joboman's new Win Condition: You win when the number of live players that do not belong to your faction is less than or equal to your faction's number.
joboman and Silent Prophet’s Mimic PM:
Feeling much better now that his body is in one piece again, joboman searches for the chambers of Cyouni.
Ravus and Sir Auron25’s NK and RB PM:
After agreeing as to their course of action, Ravus and Sir Auron25 leave their quarters with evil on their minds.
Frozen cold, claytonthegreat is unable to finish his spell, and Sir Auron25 laughs out loud as he returns to the lower levels of the guildhall.
claytonthegreat’s Slow Time PM:
Eager to stop another unfortunate death, claytonthegreat begins casting his chronomantic spell as soon as he returns to his tower.
Apokalypse Kid’s Jail PM:
Sure that Cyouni’s claim is valid, Apokalypse Kid sets out to protect him from any harm by the traitors.
Cyouni’s Investigation PM:
Despite the failure of the previous Day, Cyouni is sure that he will be able to avenge joboman’s death by uncovering the true conspirators. By the time he is able to move again, the sun is rising and it is once again time to face the congregation below.
joboman’s Investigation PM:
Equipped with his newly grafted ability, joboman seeks out Lucknorris, sure that his slaying earlier in the Day was a malicious act.
Night Two:
Ravus – Kill claytonthegreat
Sir Auron25 – RB claytonthegreat
Gigas1 – NK Silent Prophet
claytonthegreat – Slow Time (Failed)
Apokalypse Kid – Protect Sir Auron25
Cyouni – Investigate Archmage Eternal (False)
Ravus and Sir Auron25’s NK and RB PM:
Irritated at their lack of progress the Night before, Ravus and Sir Auron25 decide to team up to take out one of the bigger thorns in their side.
Within minutes all that remains of claytonthegreat is an empty shell, which Ravus contemptuously annihilates, leaving no trace of the victim or his ghost.
claytonthegreat was Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind - Town Chronomancer.
Satisfied with a job well done, Ravus and Sir Auron25 return to the guildhall for the next Day’s deliberations.
Gigas1’s NK PM:
Angry that the betrayers have not yet been stopped, Gigas1 is prepared to take matters into his own beefy hands. With a large grin on his bearded face, Gigas1 leaves the desecrated room while the amassed spirits flee, moaning at the loss of their master.
claytonthegreat’s Slow Time PM:
Already weary of the endless deliberations without success, claytonthegreat retires to his makeshift aerie, prepared to attempt another chronomantic spell. However, no sooner does he enter his magical trance than is he again struck from behind. Frozen cold, he is unable to struggle as a sinister force drains him of his mind. Dark sorcery destroys his body and his ghost, leaving nothing behind but dust.
You are dead.

Apokalypse Kid’s Protect PM:
Disbelieving Sir Auron25’s claim to be a defender of justice, Apokalypse Kid is ready to stop him from harming another delegate during the Night. Strangely, when he arrives at Sir Auron25’s room, there is no one inside. Apokalypse Kid patiently waits all Night, but sees no one enter the room. At dawn, he gives up and returns to the guildhall, tired and irritable.
Cyouni’s Investigation PM:
Determined to avoid a fate similar to that of the previous Night, Cyouni heads straight for the room of Archmage Eternal after leaving the guildhall.
Silent Prophet’s Death PM:
Displeased at the lynch of your follower, you retire to your chambers and begin to play with some corpses you brought with you, destroying them and reanimating them with glee. All of a sudden, Gigas1 storms into your room and smashes your skull in with his maul.
You are dead.

Night Three:
Ravus – Kill Cyouni
Sir Auron25 – RB Apokalypse Kid
Apokalypse Kid – Jail Lucknorris (Failed)
Cyouni – Investigate Lucknorris
Ravus & Sir Auron25’s NK and RB PM:
In glee over their silently successful Day, Ravus and Sir Auron25 come up with a sinister plot for the Night.
Cyouni was Razia, Boros Archangel - Town Cop.
Apokalypse Kid’s Jail PM:
Convinced that Lucknorris is one of the Enemies of the Guildpact, Apokalypse Kid resolves to prevent him from attacking anyone else before dawn.
Cyouni’s Investigate PM:
Devastated at the results of the previous Day, Cyouni begins to doubt his own abilities as an investigator, thinking deeply on the final cryptic warning Archmage Eternal gave before his demise.
You are dead.

Night Four:
Ravus – Kill Apokalypse Kid
Apokalypse Kid – Jail Ravus (Failed)
Ravus’s NK PM:
After having betrayed Sir Auron25 during the Day, Ravus prepares himself for his first solo nocturnal mission.
Apokalypse Kid was Sisters of Stone Death - Town Doctor.
Ravus smiles grimly following his macabre feast, thinking of the Day to come. He sits in a chair and closes his eyes, resting briefly before returning to the main hall, eager to leave the wretched plane of Ravnica once and for all.
Apokalypse Kid’s Jail PM:
Satisfied with the death of the traitorous Arbiter, Apokalypse Kid is intent on verifying Ravus’s claim to be untargetable.
You are dead.

I'm sorry that I nerfed your role so hard. I didn't think the setup was fair at all, and I didn't want to only tell one person that his role changed, so I simply made the changes in secret. Hopefully you understand.
That made me laugh... a lot... probably a lot more than it should have.
Thanks! Just put it in the massive hole made by the sword.

Yes, it was obviously a mistake for me to vote lucknorris. However, it wasn't a typo. They typo bit was a joke.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
Sometimes things just work out awesomely like that.
I did, in fact.
Oh, and another thanks to zindabad for stepping in as a replacement mod. You're the boss!
