I guess you could be right. Over the couple posts that have been made. I see where you're coming from, although I didn't see it myself before now, which is why I assumed it was a 'no reason' vote.
@PM: Sure, but given the setting I think ship names are a little more ambiguous than say a WoT setting where someone has "Nynaeve". For example, tell me what you think my role would be based on my name?
@Axel: I'm not going any further with this discussion. I'm not sure how much clearer I can be. To quote someone I miss dearly playing mafia "It'll make sense when I die".

I'd rather not speculate on your role, but I see your logic.
Not much going on except speculation on the claimed universes, which I don't see as useful at this point and will not be taking part in. I think we would be better of discussing something else.
On the votes that are being thrown around, I don't see much to any of them but they seem to be our best source of discussion at this point.

Vote Yodavader - #94 reads: "I'm up for claiming. I don't want to claim, but if i have to, I will. Definitely no name claim. Might help the scum." Then an implied reason for why we shouldn't claim and/or why we can ignore his opinion. Not a good post.

I thought the universe claim was going to be useless period. Unless one of the scum were stupid and falseclaimed, I see no forseeable positive effects. If we do catch a scum via the claim, I'll happily eat crow, but I don't see it happening.

I think that you're posting a lot, and are trying to play the helpful townie, but you aren't actually doing much. For example, you go and look up what rolenames could be from certain universes. Why would a townie need to do that (after all, you're potentially coaching scum on falseclaims), and what would it actually achieve?
tbh I was bored this morning so I just felt like checking that lol. Right now a lot of the posting is about certain players not behaving like they usually do. Since I haven't played with most of you I can't actively participate there, so I have been trying to still post and be a part of the game.

I don't like to claim on day 1. Actually, I don't like claiming until it's closer to lylo/endgame where a mass claim would really help the town. I didn't know how many universes were present. So going off of that, a universe claim, I believe, could have given clues as to what power roles were out.
The second part about my last game was just a comment saying that I have been in a game where all players had some kind of ability, so we were all "power roles".
@Axel: I'm not going any further with this discussion. I'm not sure how much clearer I can be. To quote someone I miss dearly playing mafia "It'll make sense when I die".
Well, I guess what I'm saying is, I don't believe you:
Unvote;
Vote: DYH
-------------------------------------------------------
First Case!
Now, DYH is claiming/hinting at some kind of posting restriction which he is not allowed to talk about, but apparently it directly involves what he is "allowed" to claim regarding his role. Is a role with a restriction about what you can claim possible? I suppose - though it would be less common for a "Normal" game.
Regardless, if you had such a claiming restriction, would you state (essentially) "I'm fine with whatever" so blythely in your very first post? Knowing that you can't actually claim what people are talking about?
I'll note that at this point no one had actually said they wanted a "Ship" claim thusfar except me, and I wasn't being serious. Pale Mage asks DYH why he is apparently okay with a Ship claim in #110, and DYH responds.
Quote from DYH in post #148 »
@PM: I'm okay with a ship claim because I'm going to have to claim it, personally.
I am Starbug.
That is all.
Now, here, he seems to be saying that - if he claims anything - he must claim his Ship. Everyone else has been claiming "Universe" up until now, but DYH appears to say I "have" to claim Ship and does so. Incidentally, I don't read "That is all," in this post to say "That is all I can say about it." It seems like the kind of thing people say when claiming all the time.
But the fact he jumps ahead to claiming his ship is odd. I ask him about it and that's when DYH starts to get truly vague and cryptic:
Quote from DYH in post #150 »
You're a smart guy, Axel.
Quote from DYH in post #152 »
Then again, I'm not a cheerleader.
Quote from DYH in post #176 »
The first rule of Fight Club is never talk about Fight Club.
Quote from DYH in post #233 »
"It'll make sense when I die".
If you want my first wild speculation it is this: DYH (scum) saw people saying that they were okay with a Universe Claim, and saw me saying I was interested in a Ship claim, and started the game wishing to appear like a helpful and cooperative townie.
He missed that I wasn't serious about the Ship claim (which other people did too, so that's not actually suspicious in itself), but when questioned about his own apparent willingness to claim ship now has to come up with something. What he comes up with is that he must claim his ship. See, that explains why he's okay with either/or - because it doesn't matter to him.
Except that doesn't entirely make sense, so I ask him more about it, and he starts to stonewall. He refuses to say any more about it. He "can't" say anymore about it. It will make sense when he's dead, so just let it go. As scum, if the town accepts this, then he's just avoided having to claim anything for the rest of the game. Nice.
As town - well, I think he could have done it very differently, and less cryptically. And I don't see why he wouldn't have tried harder, at the very least.
Yes, he could be town with a strange posting restriction - he might be some kind of "neutral" role as well, but overall, this is very much rubbing me the wrong way.

OK, first... You are apparently far more perceptive than I regarding DYH because I am not seeing him hint at/claim some sort of posting restriction.
Second, IIRC, DYH has been known to fake PR's in the early game for whatever reason, both as town and scum, so I'd consider it a null tell anyway.
Third, Ced has a point.

Axelrod: You say that you think that DYH is making things up. I can't really see a scum motive for that, neither do you attempt to outline one.
The logic goes thusly:
1. It's scummy to fake a posting restriction.
2. What DYH is doing/claiming currently makes no sense to me.
3. I think he is not being completely truthful.
4. Vote.
As far as his scum motivation for doing this, all I have are speculations, one of which I did, in fact, outline above. I have no inside information informing this vote. It's a gut reaction right now.

Because, if it's a concensus of the town, then I will participate. Yes, I don't like claiming early. It ranks just above no lynching.
I know there are many universes out there with ships. Some more than others. A Star Trek or Star Wars claim means that you have a plethera of ships to choose from. AFAIK, Futurama, Hitchhiker's, and Matrix have a limited pool. Scum could probably guess which ships were chosen. Could they be wrong? Probably. But scum have a smaller pool to pick from. Knowing what the ships could do in the series, they could probably guess what ships can do what.
But is was also a subtle discredit toward mass claims.
I understood that an early mass claim would limit scum from choosing ships later on in the game. I have only played in a couple games where there were more than the 2-3 town "normal" PR's (cop, doc, and possibly RB). Led Zeppelin was only the third game I have played in where everyone (or just about everyone) had a "PR". The other 2 were on a different site. I wasn't discrediting the mass claim, I was just making a comment.
Am too tired after HS football game tonight. Will read tomorrow.
Quick reread though makes me suspicious of Tilde cuz there was only a 5 hour frame reference from do you have anything to say to vote.
I don't know about everyone else on here, but I primarily check this once-twice aday around nighttime. So such a quick, look at lurker, let me jump on lurker 10 posts later, makes me more suspicious rather than jump on lurker.

A bit confused on the whole Axel/DYH thing. I'm not seeing a PR or any deliberate obfuscation on DYH's part, but some of his logic does seem rather disingenuous. I don't like the way Zebi prodded at Cyan with the 'ragevote' thing, he seems like he's trying to belittle what is a pretty understandable vote. And there's the nervous smileys. Then the rapid backing down and accepting the point of view. He doesn't need to do that last bit, he seems to eager to acquiesce Cyan.
I didn't see any belittling. What I did see is an opinion. Said opinion didn't even progress beyond a question since subsequent posts of his was spent on explaining what his definition of ragevote was all about. And it seems as if you attached the terms "nervous", "rapid" and "eager" to put a negative spin on Zebi?
I'm confident people are lying because I see the parallels to Manga Mafia. In that game, there was a Night 0 in which the scum conferred and worked out their ideas for fake claims. The next day, the source claim was proposed, and scum (intending to fake-claim anyway when the time came) gave their fake claims. I was one of them.
I think the suspicion on Zebi is of a similar nature to the Cantripmancer lynch in Legions or the Toastboy lynch in Manga - a seemingly easy target who will be easy for townies to authentically find scummy, and for scum to grind down.
I'm not really interested in DYH either. He's told us what he's going to tell us.
I also don't agree that that hostility from MMoD was out of character - he was aggressive, even hostile in Amistarian as town.
I do agree that Biohazard seems scummy. He looks to be on the periphery, with his recent posts consisting of some quibbling over the terminology of "rage vote" and a comment about the potential ships in the Matrix universe.
I do agree that Biohazard seems scummy. He looks to be on the periphery, with his recent posts consisting of some quibbling over the terminology of "rage vote" and a comment about the potential ships in the Matrix universe.
vote Biohazard.
I can't really refute your analysis because I am mostly on the periphery for the time being, but it does not mean I am scummy. I don't have any opinions on most players.
Your vote is more credible than ced's vote for me, which as far as I can tell is mostly a result of me changing my opinion after I had looked at Manga Mafia and decided a universe claim wasn't an absolutely horrible idea. I find it evasive that ced responds to Toastboy's comment on the lack of a case against me by nitpicking toastboy's comment instead of actually responding to it.
I am most displeased that D_V makes an outlandish claim, then takes a six day leave and lies in the process.
Well, why can't you do something about it?
You can look at the people who are getting votes, and see what you think of them.
If people are referencing others "not behaving as they usually do" (i.e. meta - not that I think there's been that much of that during this game), then go read those players in other games.
You can do a lot more than just google some softclaims.
I thought the universe claim was going to be useless period. Unless one of the scum were stupid and falseclaimed, I see no forseeable positive effects. If we do catch a scum via the claim, I'll happily eat crow, but I don't see it happening.
The game is on and people are now talking. It was justifiable just to generate conversation IMO; potential information effects down the line (such as someone having information for example that "the SK is from Battlestar Galactica" - paging DV to come and answer the question already) is just a bonus.
Quote from ced395 »
Hey, I'm multiple people!
But to answer toastboy's question, what is it with Biohazard that you don't like?
Quote from DYH »
It will make sense when I die
I'm backing Axelrod's logic here. You didn't claim first post, but then apparently had to claim your ship rather than your universe, then you can't hint why any of this is the case.
There's also the issue of why as a townie you'd be OK with a ship claim to start off with. Even if you have a restriction to force a ship claim, OK, that's a drawback for you, but you haven't said a word as to why you'd want everyone else to do it.
To answer ced's defensive point: there is a potential scum motive there, but it would rely on the scum gaining something out of the town claiming ships. Speculative, clearly. But the most likely explanation of DYH's behaviour at the moment, to me, is that whatever his alignment he sees a ship claim as helpful.
What's you're current opinion on lrd?
Also, specifically, what do you think of this quote?
I found this question interesting and figured I'd answer it as well.
His answer was wierdly worded ie quoting the title, etc and the red pill reference is interesting, but I don't see why you would choose an obscure show like the matrix as your lie..
Also, everyone should probably stop trying to figure out whos scum based on which show. 1) your doing the reserach for the scum by mentioning ships and 2) it won't be too useful until day 2 when we see some kill descriptions(hopefully).
Finally, the whole tilde thing where he goes let me mention KoD is lurking, no one notices i said that, so let me vote him 5 hours later seems REALLY peculiar. Why wouldn't you just vote me in the first post? divert attention much?

I do agree that Biohazard seems scummy. He looks to be on the periphery, with his recent posts consisting of some quibbling over the terminology of "rage vote" and a comment about the potential ships in the Matrix universe.
vote Biohazard.
"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
True I guess.

The game is on and people are now talking. It was justifiable just to generate conversation IMO; potential information effects down the line (such as someone having information for example that "the SK is from Battlestar Galactica" - paging DV to come and answer the question already) is just a bonus.
But to answer toastboy's question, what is it with Biohazard that you don't like?
I am conceding the point Ced made. How else do you want me to say that?
Lair of the Cat (Mafia Stats)
Ced: Can’t you do this?
Syrenz: I guess.
Biohazard: THEN DO IT.
Mafia Stats:
2/3 Loss(#28 Town Disgaea,)
1/3 Wins(#29 Chess replacement, #1 Town GCF)
This seems like a trap...
Obviously, but if there's a kill, wouldn't you rather have some sort of description to lead off of?

You don't get a set-up line like that too often. Enjoy your kill description Key...
Oh wait... YOU'RE DEAD.
Daykill KeyofDestiny
Note to self: Your mafia theories are usually wrong, so don't act on them.
What is your issue with the daykill?
Responds to what? I don't see anything to respond to.

I wasn't attacking his vote, I was just stating that I thought it was undeserved, and so I called it a rage vote. It was just an opinion.
I don't see the big deal about it. That was back in the (sort of) random voting phase still, and I thought it was a random-with-a-bit-of-reasoning vote.
The next few posts were trying to explain a term to someone who didn't know what it meant, which is fair.

Tilde's daykill might be real. I have a day ability, so, other day abilities may exist as well.
I still like my vote on MMoD.
hahahaha. okay.
lots of fireworks please mmod.
also, if i really am dead, this game is going nowhere with all the "let's game the mod based on the universe" game. until now probably.
I also had one shot day or night killll. Hope all this crap helps.

"ANSWER MY HAILS OR FACE THE CONSEQUENCES, TRAITOR! YOU HAVE 5 HOURS TO REPLY!"
KeyofDestiny immediately replies "Yeah, I'm here, what do y-".
But he doesn't finish that sentence, as Tilde blows him out of the sky.
As the space-debris settles, you are all able to gather that KeyofDestiny was in command of a Cylon Base Star, and was Town.
Votes have been RESET. With 21 alive, it is now 11 to Lynch.

~'s ~, I wouldn't expect him to hold back a daykill.
Sorta feel weird about Yoda's 263's last paragraph. Not sure about Axel's case.
Anyways, reaaaal busy for next few days (til weds/thurs) but will try to pop in to get a few words.
