lolwut. This is the random vote phase and I was trying to start an off-topic conversation. I think any accountability for voting Loran should not exist in the first place since were DATBF right now.
DATBF? What are you, a Tings Player? Wait, i don't want to know.
Also no, I'm not a UNC fan, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Duke fan; I live in Raleigh and worked at Duke library in 2006-2007. And loran, you should go to All Fun N Games in Apex for FNM or a Saturday tournament sometime; it is a really good store with a lot of good but almost never obnoxious limited players.
Vote stands on Seppel for fun, and FoS Emo Pinata for seriousness.
We should start going somewhere (perhaps on him) soon.

I love Joboman, Poggy, Niv, and Vezok, because, while they may not be the best players, they still try to win. Having fun is the most important thing to a game, but I've learned that if you don't try to win, then you're ruining everyone else's fun.
I'm amused that [Shalako], of all people, are talking about terrible reasoning. "Hey, PF's RVS daykill must be serious, therefore I should shoot him to prove that I have a daykill!"
1. My plan to lynch everyone but Dagger. If all abilities resolve at the end of the block (which I'm not completely sure of), we could just lynch everyone before the mafia could possibly interfere. After a massclaim, we can decide what players are best left alive until the end.
Beside my hate for massclaims, people die as soon as a majority is reached by the sounds of the rules. It sounds like a normal mafia game but with a timelimit to day instead of night beginning with the lynch of one player. I'm not sure how that plane would work at all...
What did you think was the reason loran FoSed you?
I figured because he thought I was trying to mount a reason to suspect Cubus without voting for him, and by doing so staying on a fence until some form of a bandwagon results from the action.
Rule 3 in the general rules was incorrect as I was using my normal rule set and didn't catch it.
It used to read:
3.) Days will continue until one of three things happen: a player is lynched, the end of a Choice Block is reached, or players vote to End The Block, which will progress to the next CB.
It now reads:
3.) (Corrected 1/9/09) Blocks will continue until one of two things happen: The end of a Choice Block is reached, or players vote to End The Block, which will progress to the next CB.
The lynch of a player does not constitute the end of a block, all players that were voting the lynched player will have their vote reset to nothing and play will continue.
Sorry about that, hopefully that's the last of the rules errors.
I figured because he thought I was trying to mount a reason to suspect Cubus without voting for him, and by doing so staying on a fence until some form of a bandwagon results from the action.
I was just trying to avoid early modkills and maintain the random vote stage.
Scummy tactic referred to who?
It would be a scummy tactic by me to make Cubus look suspicious without any real information on him all the while staying on the fence. Attempting to remain neutral while giving reasons to suspect someone is fairly scummy by my book.
You mean loran thought you were an easy target? What do you mean?
No it means that there's little negative impact to the town if he is wrong.

As I mentioned before, I want to refrain from serious discussion until more people confirm. While there are only four missing right now, it seems odd to push forward in a game with a significant portion missing. It gives the town more chance to convince themselves they know who the scum are.
This line of thinking is bothersome.
Sorry, but in the few games I have played (2) I have seen the most expirienced players recognizing each other an trying to avoid lynching an expirienced townie.
Hmm.. You do seem to be thinking this through a lot..
I'll give you another chance: Why do you think I am voting you? It's not the same reason.
I assume you literally mean what you said. You trust Loran's gut on this one, and you did point out that you didn't like my dice rolled random vote. There really isn't much more I can draw from your vote.
What would you say if I were to tell you scums use inane out-of-topic conversations to give the impression they are participating in the game as part of their lurking-openly facade?
I would say that I am aware of this tactic, that it was the random phase and once something other than joking around starts--such as your questions--I won't be plain-sight lurking. No, not really. Explain to me thus.....
Situation A. Four players don't post until Random Voting.
Situation B. Four players don't post until something resembling a serious wagon is building.
Which situation will give us more info on the four players? And why should we hesitate to jump on something legitimate because players are absent?

OK, I see what you're saying. I didn't think about it in that way. Situation B would be a distinct advantage for the town, and there's no way I can argue against that.
The lynch of a player does not constitute the end of a block, all players that were voting the lynched player will have their vote reset to nothing and play will continue.
Hmm. This made me think for a while if we might run into a problem with evenly split votes, where the loss of a player reduced the lynch threshold so that we had two basically-simultaneous lynches. After more thought, though, that only works if the lynched player was voting for himself - otherwise the reduced number to lynch is offset by the player leaving the game. So it probably doesn't matter.
I've spent some time rereading what I've said so far, and I think I may find a better reason to suspect me.
If you combine my random vote for Robroy as not being random and the comment I made after Cubus' post that points to me trying to shut down the only pro-town conversation in the game so far.
I was not trying to do that, I just rolled a 27 side die and chose the person that corresponded to the number because I don't know anyone in this game. It was legitamately a contribution to the random phase, not trying to shut down the topic.
As for my comments after Cubus' post, you pointed out to me how wrong I was being. I thought I had a legitamate point trying to wait for everyone to confirm, but I don't at all.
2. Vote Emo Pinata, because loran16 thinks it's a good idea too, so I'm not the only one.
This logic appears to amount to "we can actually start a wagon yay!" Some would say that following the crowd and looking to others for support is either scummy or at the very least not very pro-town. What do you say?

I'm not reading scum off EP for this line of trouble he's gotten himself into. Not being able to argue yourself out of the fact you made a stupid point is, well, not surprising since the point wasn't smart anyhow. He doesn't have a good explanation for wanting to extend random voting, because there really isn't one, but that comment wasn't scummy--just not very smart--to begin with. In sum, EP wasn't being very careful with his words, but I'm not really seeing a valid argument for how he's logically scum from this, especially from (for example) Cyan's last post.
So Cyan, have you actually got anything to add or did you just feel like wagon-jumping?
I'm just not really feeling it from Emo_Pinata. He feels like a softcore Soron. Right down to the "if I'm town" sentence.
Ah and here's the difference. When attacked in that game (and it's a current game, so we shouldnt talk much about it), soron, like 99% of newb town players, reacted with anger. With Fight. Newb town players who are accused of being scum real early without explicitly stated reasons confront their accuser.
They insist they be given the reason for the attack so they can defend themselves and angrily argue for their innocence.
EP is not doing this. He's going all "woe is me," i'm an inexperienced player so i won't get the benefit of the doubt. He's not asking for a reason angrily, but is speculating on the reason and trying to be understanding of any reason why we could vote him.
It's too passive for a player like him. It fits scum perfectly.
Maintain vote.

Fair enough, but if you even look at say... Seppel's line of logic you see why I bring it up. That being said, I really wouldn't consider it scum tell in any fashion.

It forces a would-be scum mistake to look less scummy. If someone confirms and then bandwagons after the fact, it doesn't look nearly as someone saying something along the lines of "/confirm. After catching up I vote X". I can see why my idea line of thinking was stupid now.
That being said, I don't think anyone that has voted for me is very scummy right now. The combination of a wrong idea and the misfortune of rolling RobRoy's number does cast a shadow on me.
As for any opinions I have towards who would be scum I would have to say FOS Seppel for blatently fence sitting based on "Because cyan says so" and "I don't know if the wagon can get anywhere" logic.

This makes sense to me to some degree, but I'm not necessarily convinced by it. I'm a little more concerned about some of the reasons (or non-reasons) people offered for voting him, i.e. Cubus and Cyan.

Seeming that I have said I have played two games, and I've even read your advice to new players to not take attacks personally, I figured this was the right course of action. Avoid getting angry, avoid thinking any attack is personal, etc. From what I've seen Soron was a complete greenhorn having never played a single mafia game.
Also, I didn't say "Woe is me you guys are just bullying me because I'm new" I was explaining a line of stupid logic that went nowhere.

Anyhow, no, you're misreading my statements (or misinterpreting them). You shouldn't take anything in mafia personally. But when attacked for an unannounced reason, the normal thing to do is to request the reason, and then to try and claim you weren't following the logic your accuser thinks you are.
But you, you're speculating the reasons and then saying, well i can see why you're voting me. You're too passive and accepting. It's not natural.
As to the Woe is me, you didnt state it out right, but you're using that to be passive and absolve your accusers from blame. You're sucking up to them, (Well, i understand loran would be willing to attack me since im new and thus its not as much of a loss), and that's not the town reaction.
That's the scum reaction trying to not offend his accusers and hope they go away.

If I wanted to go away the better and much more passive technique would probably to avoid the game for a few hours to let more people post, and then defend an FOS. I started off answering a "Why does Loran suspect you?" question as the basis for your new logic against me. Dagger specifically asked my to explain why I thought you would FOS me in post #60, it wasn't just random posts I threw out there.
I don't see how myself answering Dagger's questions and your comments makes me scummy to you.
Speculation I gave for you == Answering Dagger
Speculation I gave for Cubus == Answering Cubus
I'm not speculating and hoping it goes away, I'm answering the inquiries as they come.
Question for ya, What's a 27 side die and where do you get one?

And unvote for the same reasons skander stated above (Plus I shouldn't have voted in bodl when I said vote X above).

@Seppel: What's your logic for an OMGUS vote adding to a bandwagon that you yourself thought was dying until Loran finally threw his hat in?
Well, we do get multi-lynch days... they can lead to a win rather quickly.
For similar reasons why we shouldn't double vig usually, I'd suggest we don't multiynch unless one lynch is from a night result such as a cop investigation.
Also, lets get one lynch done per 3 weeks then we can focus on multi-lynching.

Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
Even with reading through several games, I have never run into a game won on massclaiming on Day 1 (or Block 1 in this case).
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
Also, you never actually voted for me.
Ugh. This is going to look terrible in the reread but
Unvote (if I'm still voting at all).
Vote Emo Pinata
The intention of my vote is to work toward forcing a claim and to declare my disgust with "I can see why I look scummy."
Rofl, I'm an idiot, Unvote, Vote Emo Pinata
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
So what are your reasons? If you hate my speculation that much, then explain your logic. I was just left thinking that I was on the right path.
I mean the FOS, not the later vote.
And we seem to be far out of random so Unvote
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
Well, we do get multi-lynch days... they can lead to a win rather quickly.
Ultra lulz here for the FoS at me because I'm "blatantly fencesitting." That's a reaction I like to see.
vote Emo_Pinata
....Defense of EP noted. "Waiting to see" language also noted.
FOS Skander.
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
And unvote for the same reasons skander stated above (Plus I shouldn't have voted in bodl when I said vote X above).
@Loran: The magic of the internets
@Seppel: What's your logic for an OMGUS vote adding to a bandwagon that you yourself thought was dying until Loran finally threw his hat in?
For similar reasons why we shouldn't double vig usually, I'd suggest we don't multiynch unless one lynch is from a night result such as a cop investigation.
Also, lets get one lynch done per 3 weeks then we can focus on multi-lynching.
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
What website?
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
I don't know, I just put dice tags around the number 27, I never put much thought into it.
Dice tags?
Ah. Silly me. Point was irrelevant anyhow.
Anyhow, your defense hasn't convinced me, and your "OMGUS" language isn't helping much.
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
Nope. Just that point.
I wanted to see if that was actually the reason for his speculation or not. So I waited to see if he would mention it or not. If he didn't mention it that would mean that he was actually doing what you accused him.
I never thought it was dying. Lol, stop making stuff up. You just didn't say anything that stuck out to me until, well, a few hours ago. And now you're just digging yourself deeper and deeper.
If you're really town, you should learn from this. But, barring that...
die scum die
Unvote, FOS: Seppel, Vote Jack Bauer
Interesting, my good friend Chamber. His first post is possibly incriminating. The second post? Meh, hard to tell.
Worth further thoughts after later posting.
Logical Reasoning is dead; Long Live Stupidity
Seppel... well what more need I say.
