So...is anyone else envisioning tiny little apple mafia with townie tomatoes? Cause I'm having visions over here.
But not all the mafia must be bad apples (Obvious bad pun is obviously bad)
I'd rather townie bananas, are you pushing the tomato agenda?
Hmm... Ace is acting strangely, what with his blatant pushing for pro-tomato ideals as opposed to other fruits and vegies. Ace even attempts to distract us with his pointing and such! (A very serious post, as you can see:rolleyes:)
Judging by the posts i think we're all spam. And yes sandsoft, people are going to say you pushed the vote by trying to jump out of the random phase, but you didn't do anything scummy to me. I'm going to fos sephirothe owa, for FOSing sandsoft when it should be obvious that there really isn't a case.

I'd say pushing to end random phase is at least a tiny bit scummy, and is really the only non-random post so far. Certainly it's worth an FoS.
I'll go ahead and make the first semi-serious vote (b/c I don't know how much more fruit puns I can take).
Actually I think he said what he did about the bandwagons cause I made a joke alluding to it. It's just to me it seems more likely that he really didn't understand that there wasn't a set end to random voting, as it is consistent with his newness in other games. However, hshadowa, you have tipped my interest cause you don't seem to really have good reasons for starting a sandsoft wagon so fos hshadowa as well.

My general opinion is that what Sandsoft said could be construed as scummy, but I don't doubt its truth. It was said in an honest way.
Or he has tricked us.

It's not a wagon since no one else has voted for him.
I'm just trying to get the game moving along, past the bad puns, and no one else has posted anything besides random spam.
Well it does appear that the voting has been completed (now that the last guy has shown up), and I believe it's safe to assume we can get serious in scum hunting now.

Why the suspicion of sandsoft for saying the same thing as kman did? If anything, since kman said it so much earlier, and within hours of the thread opening, would he be the one who should be suspected more?
I don't suspect either one at this point; it's still too early to tell. I just don't understand the suspicion on one and not the other.
I'm still learning mate. THings that may seem obvious to you definately aren't to me
I'm not completely sure, *obv*, but it would be nice for him to explain why he keeps using past game bandwagons against him to almost discount himself from being scum here

I don't suspect either one at this point; it's still too early to tell. I just don't understand the suspicion on one and not the other.
Umm... those two posts were different. He talks about hunting down scum, I'm talking about moving out of the random voting stage on the hunt for scum. Kman said it very early on, while i'm saying it when (i thought) we were moving out of the random voting phase.
Yeah. He talks about hunting down scum rather than random voting, and you say about moving out of random voting to hunt for scum. Sounds the same to me.
Have fun while you're away, ikkleste! We promise not to lynch you while you are away!
Weeping Willow, I think kman's comment was said largely in jest (if he could confrim?) and was too early to really carry any meaning, whereas Sandsoft made what seemed like a larger effort to push the game forward, although we seem to have come to the conclusion that he meant no harm.
As long as Sandsoft doesn't try to play the "don't vote for me, people are always voting for me" card again, I see nothing too scummy about him.
And Sephiroth is right, one vote and one FoS is hardly a bandwagon.
Also, a question for the group, what roles do you think are being used in this game?
While I'm not necesseraly feeling the "woah he tried to rush us out of the random phase" argument (I think you really were just trying to figure it out), this "Why always me?!" defence feels a little off.
Well it wasn't a why always me post. I was joking around with Kpaca. Don't you see the roll eyes smilie? It meant I was joking around
As for Ikkleste himself, have fun bro!
For roles in this game, anything. Trust me, it's what I learned in my first game...
I wouldn't consider trying to end the random vote phase scummy. I imagine most of us want it to end. It was going on for longer than usual anyway. Also, you're then doing it yourself, and declaring that you are.
Interesting point. I think it would be the manner of ending it, as opposed to simply trying to end it, that is important.
That is, trying overhard to end the random phase (on the back of little evidence, but a lot of conviction say) is a lot more scummy than simply trying to be meaingful in votes.
It's also interesting how hshadowa says that sandsoft's action merit a FoS, and then upgrades this to a vote.
I believe I posted something along the lines that, in an effort to move the game along, I'd make the first semi-serious vote.
Sand's explanation is believable enough, so I'll Unvote for now.
Also, a question for the group, what roles do you think are being used in this game?
Seconded. I know what the basic roles are and what the do, but I don't know what the normal distribution of them would be in a normal game, or more importantly, in a newbie game.
The roles were probaly assigned randomly for fairness purposes. If I had two guess there was 2/3 mafia, a cop, a doctor, and maybe something else. Also vote: hshadowa. Too me your quick vote came off slightly scummy and the fact that rather than really defending your position you quickly unvote bothers me.

I really don't like this play. Earlier he said that pushing us out of the random voting phase is scummy, yet he just stated he's making an effort to move the game along. Then, after only a little pressure, he unvotes and throws up a small defense.
First real mistake made. First real mistake noted. FoS hshadowa
@ Sphiroth: I think you can have as many people under FoS as you like, given that it's not really official. Thanks for the role count, too
Also, hshadowa, you say you wanted to move the game along, and yet when this action is described as the least bit sucmmy, you drop the vote and are quite happy to let things stay as they are.
This is clearly attempting to avoid any sort of conflict -- despite the fact that you were only on one vote, and under no real pressure.
methinks it's all very fishy. FoS hshadowa
I voted for sandsoft because I thought that by saying something along the lines of "hey, lets move the game along and catch some scum" was a bit scummy. Not nescessarily that the act of trying to move past the random phase was scummy. I don't know how long the random phase is supposed to last, or if trying to end it early is good for the town or good for the mafia. Seeing as how there was no other post of any sort of substance, I voted for the only person who posted anything resembling a scum tell.
Since hardly anyone else agreed with me, and since sand had a logical explanation, I chose to unvote.
this is not something you want to do if you're town. by calling him out on a specific role you are telling everyone including scum what you think he is. or you could be trying to tell people the wrong thing if he is a scum buddy of yours. unvote. vote ced.

I fail to see how saying, lets move the game along and catch some scum is a scummy act. I want to catch and lynch scum, and in order to do that, we would need to get out of the random voting and into the serious game. So I asked for that. And the way you posted your statement was more along the lines of rushing the game is scummy.
As much as I am a newb to forum mafia (and I'll admit IRC mafia is incredibly different), but I'd just like to throw up a comment.
Seph Owa seems awfully active, and awfully jumpish, for a neutral townie. This may of course be simply brushed off to newbishness, but am the only one seeing a pattern of jumping on a bandwagon, organising where everyone's at, then quickly jumping offside when a challenge arises?
Maybe it's just me, but it's something to ponder. I just feel I haven't really been chatting much, and this is something I observed. Sorry if it doesn't really make sense.

ok...I'm getting some feelings about some of the people in this game. Let me think on some stuff and analyze some posts. I'll be back either later tonight or tomorrow morning to give my thoughts. Depends on if the 'rents hog the computer or not.
Hmmm, I feel as though people are prodding and trying to make something out of nothing frequently here in the early going.

I second kpaca thoughts.
I don't see how someone can be "too" active (hell, that'd just encourage lurking, which is even more scummy). From what I have seen, 'over-activity' is only a tell if posts contain little content, which is not the case here.
Ace deflects criticism from himself by stating his noobishness, and I can't see the pattern he describes. Perhaps he could provide us with evidence of Sephiroth's allegedly suspicious behaviour?
I think this is scum-like behaviour, so I shall point a FoS at Ace

Heh, sorry to raise all the suspicion upon myself, but I really have no idea on what is and isn't noobish behaviour in terms of you guys, and I guess I messed up a bit by suggesting Seph. He has explained why my allegations were likely wrong, and I guess they were.
kpaca: I guess it just struck me as something that someone would do given the chance. Being a newb doesn't mean I can't compare the oldies and the newbies with relative easy. Again, I guess I messed up trying to discern newbishness and the rotten apples (a pun, get it?).
I really was only just trying to get some discussion on something I saw as strange. No hard feelings Seph.
Oh don't get me wrong I'm not protecting seph cause he's a good guy, or protecting him at all really. I'm just drawing as many conclusions as I can too make the best decision when casting my vote, and sharing my ideas with the rest of the town so hopefully we can get a scum day one. And don't worry about saying no hard feelings, very rarely is it personal in mafia.

throwing something out might get you suspicion, but unless you have no way to back it up and do things like lie/backtrack repeatedly, then its not all that likely to get actually labelled as scum and lynched.
If you have any evidence that Seph is acting scummy, I urge you to share it. Even if it doesn't result in much, It's better than nothing.
Just bear in mind that if he was scum, of course he would deny your claims!
I also have an overwhleming desire to lynch people that use that many puns
I doubt wedges is lurking. I just think he isn't playing anymore. Shino probably is lurking, but then again it's shino. Hshadowa makes me wonder and it does raise my suspicion of him. So I guess that a prod to all three wouldn't be a bad thing.
I'm still alive, so there's no prodding by Kraj necessary. Just busy with my job (and the drinking after the job. It's for my sanity, I swear... :-/), Endangered Species (until midnight on Monday NZ-time), and a bit of uni work.

Shino Tenshi Again, this time 6 days ago since his last post. Not a great deal contributed. His last post was a bit of Misc discussion with WW and then an unvote from the random phase.
Last time I checked, weren't we still (somewhat) in the random phase? Not entirely sure though, as this is my second game of mafia. (With the first still running atm, hence my general not-here-ness)
To be honest, I'm not really a great fan of the random voting, as it tends towards spammy posting. It's a little bit tedious (for me anyhow) to read through posts containing no information whatsoever. Some people find it easy to get information and/or fun out of the random vote phase, I prefer the post-random vote and the midgame phases. It suits my thinking processes and game-playing style.

The only reason I mentioned it was because you and Wedges are the only 2 not to have posted since proper allegations and things have been coming out.
I actually have no proper allegations at the moment. I know hshadowa has come under the thumb a tiny bit, but I don't think that there's been anything that notes him terribly as scum/scummy. (It'd have to hit me on the head before I find people scummy at this stahe, and then everyone would know about it already (and would have dealt to it too))
It's all good though. I knew that when I went AWOL for a tiny bit, I'd have to answer why I hadn't posted in 6 days. I'd even ask that question myself if it arises.

This was my last post three days ago. I've quoted it since a few people seemed to have missed the post.
It's no problem ace. We have to do it to sniff people out
As for my feelings, I would like to get a prod on the following 3 people:
hshadowa, wedges and shino tenshi.
Play by Play analysis:
hshadowa
His last action was to make 'that' unvote that caused a bit of an uproar, and since then he hasn't come back to defend himself in 3 days. It seems he might have been more inclined to hope that the aftermath would fallout on someone else and pull the suspicion away from himself. (Just my feelings obv.)
I actually have no proper allegations at the moment. I know hshadowa has come under the thumb a tiny bit, but I don't think that there's been anything that notes him terribly as scum/scummy.
Well, as you said, he's been under a little pressure, but he hasn't answered the questions that his unvote prompted (nor do I get the feeling he fully explained his vote. reading through his answers, I get the sense he's just repeating what he already said) and now appears to be lurking.
These are simply not very townish actions, and for me, that explains the reason for the wagon on hshadowa. However, I think it'd be a good idea for the wagon to stay where it is, and allow him to respond before putting him in claim range.
I thought that I did fully explain my vote in my above post.
I have gone back over and re-read the entire game so far. I can see how my actions look suspicous. I haven't been really careful with my words, and I jumped the gun a bit to quick. I'd probably vote for myself if I wasn't myself. :\
And I'm not lurking. I posted Saturday, haven't checked the site since. I have two tests this week I had to study for and I knew that if I starting checking email and checking forums I'd delay my studying.
@ced: Thanks for the input.
I see how you say I was on both sides for Sandsoft --given that I proclaimed his actions scummy, and then later said they weren't. This former is largely because it was the only potentially scummy action in the game, and I wanted a reaction/ something to discuss.
Upon review, Sandsoft's statement was not terribly scummy, and I said as much.
I don't see how I was on both sides in the case of hshadowa -- I don't think I defended him, and I did FoS him (and, indeed, am currently voting for him)
Finally, this being mt first game, my playstyle could use some... refinement. At the moment, I am basically posting analysis on what I see.
@hshadowa, I doubt an OMGUS vote is going to be terribly productive, since it rather undermines your position of calm rebuttal.
And this means? A little more explanation is somewhat necessary before I'm bundled into the lurker category.
I've just noticed you to post fairly little. My comment actually was not meant to place you in the lurker category, more to say that it's normal of you to not post very often.

Shino Tenshi
Again, this time 6 days ago since his last post.
Shino probably is lurking, but then again it's shino....
And this means? A little more explanation is somewhat necessary before I'm bundled into the lurker category.

She knows why.
This was my last post three days ago. I've quoted it since a few people seemed to have missed the post.
Actually my last action was to explain myself.
I concur.
Finally, OMGUS VOTE: Sephiroth Owa
I've just noticed you to post fairly little. My comment actually was not meant to place you in the lurker category, more to say that it's normal of you to not post very often.
