I think this just goes to show that I should never doubt my first instinct on day 1. The game might have been very different if I'd just nuked Xyre from orbit on day 1 instead of letting myself be talked out of pursuing him.
Incidentally, if we had lynched Xyre day 1 and encountered his protection, I would not have been pleased in the post-game. 3 scum and a neutral in a mini is pushing. 3 scum and a neutral where a scum has lynch protection is over the top.
It was all part of the "pattern" ! All of the roles except for Az, Puzzle, Fade, China and maybe Erestor had opposite alignments to what they had in the game they came from. I don't know if it was done on purpose, but I should have sticked to it (I actually built the theory right when day 2 started), lynched DYH and Azrael for having "originally townie" roles and cleared Bateleur for having a "originally scum" role. [/hindsight]
Two of the three mafia didn't fit the pattern since they weren't even characters from games, so the pattern wasn't much good to us. Only DYH would have been busted that way.
The nine-years-old girl was famous for writing the PM of a townie, so I count her as "originally town" :).
Although this did get the townie in question killed!

Yeah. It was a strange decision for me how to play with that one-time safety. I ended up hoping that I was so blatantly scum, the cop would need to check me.
If only it was Crippled_Fist instead of Bateleur at the end here whose demise would've been brought about by the 9-year old girl.
Nuts - I missed a trick there! My last post should have been:
"Sorry, going to have to request replacement... by Crippled_Fist!"

"Zhou Yu, Shu Sage" - Did you mean Zhao Yun? Or were you not aware that Zhou Yu is Wei aligned? Or were you just being profoundly evil?
Honestly?
I went to the Wikipedia entry for the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and picked the first name I found that wasn't in RotTK Mafia.
I guess I didn't expect that the claim would be analyzed in its original context... a fact that was exacerbated by the fact that Kenji didn't claim the flavor of his role being the "missing" character from RotTK Mafia.

In fact, such a pattern only really emerged coincidentally as I made the setup. I knew Kevin was going to be town (as a reference to the serial killer being named Town MVP in Sin City), and so I decided to throw in Miho as mafia, as an homage to Draygn_Mage's townie-killing spree.
In the original draft of the game, Miho was a townie role with the exact same ability as Miho from Sin City (more powerful than the standard watcher), except that in addition to having to eliminate the scum, she had to kill at least one townie with her ability in order to win!
Other roles that were in the setup at one point or another, but eventually got cut, include "The ADHD Hacker Stoner Kid, Mafia Roleblocker", an AzWOLG role that got cut to make room for Kevin, and "Douglas Adams, Mostly Harmless Townie."
It would have worked, had Sutherland's death not downgraded me. I figured it would be pointless to investigate you when your name was guaranteed to be "Fadeblue" anyway.
Well then, Rafk did me in. It makes perfect sense.
