Rock solid case, huh? But not voting me? Interesting. I don’t think you’re nearly as sure as you say you are. Arimneas, you know your case is crop logic. Your PBP “analysis” is just too silly to take seriously. You obviously made up your mind about me before you began, so really, how objective was your analysis? Aren’t you supposed to do analysis with an open mind and then try to determine the truth? But no, you can’t be bothered with the facts once you made up your mind.
Now the question I have is why. Are you just playing badly, or are you deliberately trying to build a bogus case out of thin air?
To everyone else, I really don’t think that alleged analysis is worthy of a detailed response. My statements, I believe, speak for themselves. I invite you to re-read my posts on your own, in context, and make your own decision. If however you think arimneas has made point or two you think makes sense, let me know. I'm not dodging him at all. I just need you to tell me which turd or two in that pile of crap you'd like me to address. I'd be more than happy to set the record straight.
This screams of OMGUS. "This guy is attacking me, it MUST be craplogic!"

I've already explained my reason for not voting you at the present time. But I'm now seriously considering it, based on your most recent post.

If you actually read my PBPA, you'll notice there were multiple occasions on which I noted something which could be a scum tell, but which I specifically decided not to hold against you for the sake of objectivity.
Not only does this not seem like a townie's response, this seems way, way off from your play in Drawn Together Mafia. I'm going to sleep on this, then I'll be back tomorrow with, most likely, a vote on either RA or MS.
Just letting everybody know I'm still alive, and that a response to arimnaes's PBPA on me will be forthcoming probably some time tomorrow. Also, I think it's interesting that we have so much polarization on day 1. Ximbad vs. KCW, arim vs. RA, fun fun fun. Lots of useful stuff for once a few of those people die and we have some more evidence to work with.

Nifty, perhaps, but not certain. RA and I could both be misguided townies, or we could both be scum pulling a gambit. Same goes for KCW and Ximbad/D_M (I would say that D_M has also been at odds with KCW.)
I'm just awaiting your response before I decide my vote.

No. I stated exactly what you said. You said one of them, but you're also under suspect, and therefore one of the lynch candidates. It seems like purposeful and subtle non-mentioning of yourself while directing the votes towards others.

You had five posts before your PBPA, all of which -even the very first -expressed suspicion on me to one degree or another. One can easily assume you made up your mind before the analysis was done. Besides, if you found everything scummy, people would know you're blowing smoke.

We were lectured early in the game not to metagame. Perhaps you skimmed over that part. Believe me, if we were allowed to metagame, Day 1 would be long over by now. But since you began it, I feel I must respond.
First of all, my behavior is absolutely townish. As town, part of my duty is to keep myself alive and prevent myself from being mislynched. Although you can only guess at my alignment, I know it perfectly, and therefore it is beholden upon me to challenge any misguided attempts to lynch me, no matter what the source. What may seem defensive to you is me protecting the town's interests by helping us avoid a mislynching. Because I know my alignment, nobody can defend my townishness more vigorly than I can. That may be WIFOM to you, but it's truth to me. I know where the lanocane is, as far as my alignment goes.
Why did I not defend myself like this in Drawn Together? My innocence was not seriously challenged there, and the minor incident about the "assignment" was quickly shot down by others. But if someone seriously challenged me then, I would have vigorously defended my townishness then, just as I am doing now. Now, I could also contrast your play here to that in Drawn Together. MS, MMoD and Ximbad could also. Even though you have tried to do this to me, I think it's not a wise move. It's a different game with mostly different players. And therefore, if I allowed myself to think in those terms, I could be easily misled.
Some serious questions for you: KCW's role has raised considerable suspicion, and rightly so. KCW himself says he believes his role was created for the very purpose of generating doubts about him. Whether or not that's true, the suspicion still remains. Your attacks on me are based mainly on my grilling of KCW which I think is absolutely justified. Can you tell us why your attack on me is not a defense of KCW? You stated "Right now, I'm of the opinion that KCW is town." Can you explain how you can you so easily dismiss the suspicions against him? If you have reasons why you think he's town, then I believe the town should hear them.

Take it from a farm boy who has swepted more stalls than I can count: it's much easier to generate crap than to clean it up. With your extensive PBPA, you dumped a tractor-load at my feet, and I have too much of a life to try to sift through it all for people who probably already see it for what it is. I only have a pitchfolk to clean up the crap, not a front loader. It would take me 3x as long to explain each obvious mistatement than it took you to distort your perceptions. So once again, if you (or anyone) think there's one or two specific actions of mine that need explanation, I will be happy to oblige you. But in doing so, I hope you'll keep an open mind and truly listen with an unprejudiced ear. Perhaps then you'll see I've acted wholely in the town's interest.

People at the time got suspicious because D_M suggested the top 3 scum right before this. But what bothers me isn't the barning, but the fact that MS did a complete 180 in the space of two posts, with no explanation as to why.
What you don't see just from looking at the posts is that in the space of 24 hours, there were 5 posts in this thread. 2 by me, 2 by D_M, and a vote count. That post I made about getting people talking was just that, wanting to get people talking. I was initally against the idea of a top 3 scum list because not much had happened, but then when even less was happening, I decided if nothing else, it will get discussion going again.
Regarding the whole morphing thing, yes I did completely WIFOM the question of whether or not I have uber-morphing powers, and I did it entirely on purpose. I knew that one of the only things we'd have to discuss early in is who morphed, and I threw in the "Trust me" line just to see if anybody bit. You tell me, would you rather have people who morph say, "Yep, I have uber powers when I morph" or "The town is better off." Also, one thing I didn't bring up when this was discussed before is that people who morphed will be prime NK targets. I'd much rather have lots of confusion about whether I have a super awesome role if I'm suddenly going to be a nice looking target. Even if I were totally vanilla, it's now possible the mafia will try to NK me and get a vanilla townie.
Quote from arimnaes »
Looks like helpful pro-town reasoning, until you read it again and realize it boils down to "KCW could be scum, or he could not be scum. Dunno."
I'm simply trying to share my thoughts with the town. I thought that's what we're supposed to do. If nobody shares their thoughts and/or opinions, then we can't nail anybody on those later.
As to the MOT fishing thing, you said yourself it's a matter of opinion. I for one think it was an incredibly scummy thing to do, and he deserved a vote for it. After more discussion, I saw him as being more noob than scum, so I let it go.
Quote from arimnaes »
Even if we think there's a good chance KCW is scum, vigging him is a much better plan than using the lynch on him. We may have more information tomorrow on which to judge his claim.
And what if he's telling the truth about his ability, just not his alignment? Or if we don't have a vig? Simply vigging him won't prove anything, unless he dies. The KCW posts I mention in my post sounded like a scum trying to backpedal once we'd semi-decided to vig him. They had tipped me from where I sat on the fence regarding KCW's alignment toward me thinking he could be scum, thus lynching would definitely be the right move. You can argue with me about whether what he said was worthy of thinking he's scum or not, but if I think I've found scum, as a townie my job is to get him lynched, period.
So there's my answer to arim's case. At this point, I'm not sure what we should do about the deadline. I could get behind a KCW lynch just so we don't have a no-lynch, and because we'd learn a lot from his alignment. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions for new targets.

Well, I disagree. I think it's both fair and perfectly valid. It's obviously not the strongest evidence, but it's something that deserves consideration. Players often use metagaming to try to determine whether the major analysts (Puzzle, Azrael, et al.) are town or not, because their play styles as town and as mafia are well-documented. Now, I only have one frame of reference for you, but the fact remains that you seem to be playing radically differently from how you played in DT Mafia.

I didn't say "unfounded", I said "ill-founded", and there's a significant difference. My concern stems not from the common criticism of him, of him having a bizarre claim and the miller confusion and whatnot, but from the specific way you attacked him in a manner that was often incoherent or blatantly illogical. I will reference my PBPA temporarily here:
Quote from arimnaes »
This post is full of it.
Point 1 is moot. KCW would only have become unkillable by claiming. He would have been just as good a mafia target as the rest of us if he hadn't claimed. And besides, if KCW is a power role as he claims, making each other townie marginally more likely to be nightkilled is a small price to pay.
Point 2 makes no sense whatsoever. How does not having protection from town abilities make someone look more scummy upon being investigated? And just how is KCW "covering himself" by informing the town of this?
Point 3 is not an argument, so I won't bother addressing it.
And WTF is up with that last remark? Accusing someone of having a killing role on nonsensical grounds while simultaneously fishing for their actual role information? That's not a townie play where I come from.
Respond to these points of mine, and then we can discuss whether you were making ill-founded accusations or not.
Quote from RandomActs »

If you're right, you will save the town from mislynching/vigging a potential power role. So please explain your reasoning in further detail.
First of all, we cannot "mis-vig" KCW, because if he's telling the truth then he's unkillable and if he's lying then he's scum. Second, you're putting words in my mouth. Scum do dig themselves into holes, but you're missing the point: If KCW is scum and has indeed dug himself into a hole with his outlandish claim, then he will have to begin falsifying power role results of some kind. The probability of him maintaining such a ridiculous charade successfully through the entire game is very low, especially once our info roles start going to work. If he is scum, we will have much better evidence of it in future days. Thus, there's no reason to go ahead and lynch him today when the only main point against him is, as you put it, his outlandish claim.

So basically, you intend to weasel out of ever actually making a coherent response to my points by introducing a farm-boy analogy? And who exactly are you referring to when you say "people who probably already see it for what it is"? Not a single person has jumped to your defense or agreed with you that my arguments are crap. So whatever you may think, the fickle mistress known as public opinion is not on your side right now. It would be in your best interest (and the town's best interest, if you are town) to post an actual response. And soon, considering the deadline is tomorrow.

I would like a claim from MS, personally. Ending the day in No Lynch simply because we couldn't make up our minds in three weeks is st00pid.
EBWODP: I know this was a preset deadline, but... could we have a week (or even just a few days) extension? Discussion has picked up and we're actually progressing somewhere now.
I second the plea for an extension. No Lynch is almost always bad for the town, and if people listen to MMoD and try to wagon me, all we'll get is a townie lynch, which is worse.
I take it from your request for a claim, that you're not convinced by my answers to your case against me? Anything specific, or are you going with your gut on this one? Cause if it's the latter, there's nothing I can say but "Get a new gut." If it's the former, then I'd like the chance to clarify/explain things that I've said.

With 12 living players, it takes 7 votes to lynch.
The deadline set at the begging of day 1, May 17th, is still in effect.
At 22:00 EST tonight, the day will end. The player with the most votes will be lynched. If two players are tied for the most votes, both will be lynched. If a "No Lynch" is prevailing in the vote count, there will not be a lynch. I think a month is long enough for day 1 to go on, even though activity has picked up, I think extending the deadline by 12 hours should be ok. No one has let me know that they will not be here, so everyone should be able to check in. There are people who have not posted in over a week, and they will be prodded, this is a FINAL warning.
Oh great, so I might get lynched just because people are inactive. Well done. I guess I'll unvote, vote Machin Shin because I see him and RA as equally scummy.
Hang on, so people suddenly transfer votes to me because "it's better than nothing" and "because I see him and RA as equally scummy". I had planned on unvoting when I saw that whoever has most votes dies, since I didnt think KCW was our play for today and didn't realize I was still voting him, but now I'm thinking I'll leave it. KCW has consistenly done scummy things to go along with his not quite believable claim, so I'm more inclined to think he really is scum now than before.
As for this,

If there is enough time left, it will force him to claim (it's better than nothing).
I wish I had two votes so I could vote for you along with your scum-buddy KCW. I've been one of the ones who have said for quite a while now that KCW isn't our lynch today, and I simply forgot I was still voting for him. Now you come in with the equivalent of a speed lynch, with no comment whatsoever about whether you even think I'm scum, or are simply just voting for somebody for the sake of voting.
Fine, if it will help you make up your mind, Unvote. I don't feel like I need to claim with 2 of the 4 votes on me seemingly there for lack of a better alternative, but I'm not willing to risk my life on these other people not checking the thread after throwing a vote on me, so I'll claim.
I'm Kaitlin Starr, VR Trooper from the VR Trooper show. My show was a retarded early version of Power Rangers, and I always wanted to be more than a stupid Kimberly prototype. I'm a bodyguard. I die instead of the person I'm protecting, and when I morph, I kill the person trying to make the NK as well. I cannot protect myself. So, now that 2 people voting for the hell of it, along with 2 people who misguidedly think I'm scum, have forced a doc role to claim, can you unvote so we can lynch some real scum?

unvote vote:machin shin I simply have even more trouble beliving that a VR trooper is in this game then that KCW's claim is true. While MS is a great lynch, I think we should stil keep KCW in mind for tomorrow.

A bodyguard role seems odd in a 12-person game; usually there's only one in a game that also has a doc, and I think a doc AND a bodyguard is too much in a game this small. Vote stands.
He never actually reached lynch. He was at one from lynch when you unvoted.
Le sigh... he's probably already asleep.
Who ever has the most votes after about three and a haf hours will be lynched. As KCW's bandwagon dissolved a bit and MS's gained some support it is almost definant that MS will be lynched.

Well spotted. I missed that, and thought we were operating under the standard "No majority, no lynch" rule.
He claimed Doc. Aside, would the real doc please not counter-claim, that would be great, thank you.

Wow, so now we're going to immediately lynch a claimed doc, based solely on my claim. We've already discussed the possibility of unbelievable claims when KCW claimed, and apparently everybody is willing to ignore that whole discussion. I can't help that I'm not a Power Ranger, that's the role PM I was sent. If you don't believe me, you'll apparently find out in at least 1 and a half hours. I just can't believe that you're all willing to lynch a claimed doc, when I'm almost guaranteed to be the NK tonight anyway. I didn't want to have to claim at all, obviously, being a doc role. Now apparently you're willing to lynch me. I didn't see anybody who mentioned anything about my case, just the claim. I would think that claiming when I didn't absolutely have to would be something, but I guess not. I hope that the town can learn from all the people who jumped on my wagon, assuming I am indeed lynched.

So there's the flavor. The other flavor that was in my PM for why a VR Trooper is in the game I posted when I claimed. Like I said, I think lynched a claimed doc type role is a bad idea, especially with no discussion like this, but w/e. Hopefully the town can still win if I'm lynched.

VR Troopers (Virtual Reality Troopers) was a syndicated live action show from the creators of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The show tried to cash in on the short-lived Virtual Reality fad of the 1990's as well as the success of Power Rangers.
The VR Troopers were not predecessors at all. They came AFTER the Rangers had already been on for a year.
Anyway, final thought before night. If there is a vig, don't target anyone tonight and definately don't reveal yourself. Clever vigging schemes always get screwed up somehow.
I just posted what was in my role PM, with sufficient changes to not be modkilled. If WOLG screwed up, how is that my fault? Besides, don't you think I'd get my facts straight if I was going to make up a fake claim? Whatever guys, it looks like I'm the lynch anyway, although WOLG hasn't posted with the scene or anything. All I can say is go town, and I hope I wasn't the only doc role, cause if so you guys are in trouble.

Watching those of you now outfitted in various states of armor with a wary and calculating eye, you begin a round of envious bickering and arguments.
“Not fair! I wanted to be able to morph!”
“You could have at least waited until we all checked in.”
Well, what is done is done, most of you think, and try to move in a positive direction.
“Well guys, I hate to say it, but I morphed because I don’t trust any of you, and you can’t kill me tonight,” says Kingcobweb.
In astonishment and anger many of you begin arguing for a lynch while KCW tries desperately to defend. Eventually you all grow bored and end up sitting…
And staring…And sitting…And staring and sitting…(etc.)
Until finally, Machin_Shin blinks.
Apparently that was the wrong thing for him to do, because you all realize that it is almost dark outside, and that night is coming soon.
“He blinked! He is weakening, and only the weak would want to kill Zordon! He must have been jealous of his power!” exclaims MMoD.
“Well, sure, it is something to go on,” votes arimnaes while arguing with RandomActs.
“Gah, it’s almost night, I don’t want to die!” votes Kingcobweb, attempting to stay alive.
“Wait, wait, wait a second!” states Machin_Shin, “I’m not a power ranger, I’m a Trooper! I have no reason to kill Zordon, I’m here to protect you all!”
“I don’t believe you,” says Draygn_Mage.
You all begin to circle around Machin_Shin, and despite being a morphed ranger, the other 4 take him down easily. As you begin stipping his armor from his body, a laser shot tears through Machin_Shin’s chest, destroying the power coin he used to morph.
At once realizing what you’ve done, you tear the helmet from his head and gasp in astonishment.
[*gasp*]
Machin_Shin, “Kaitlin Starr, VR Trooper”, has been deadline lynched day 1.
And Night (1) falls. You all head to your respective sleeping areas, leaving the power chamber with one less wanna-be-ranger.
It is now Night 1.
Day 2 will begin on Monday, May 22nd @ 10:00(AM) or as soon as all night choices are in. If you do not want to use an ability, send me a PM stating such so that day can begin asap.
Apparently I'm the worst f***** townie ever. Either that or you guys should've known better. Go town.

Morning. The sky dawns on the command center, and all of you meet out in the power chamber. Many of you have confused looks on your face and begin speaking at once.
"Where is..."
"Where was..."
"I couldn't find..."
"What happened to..."
Until finally you all go looking for the subject of your confusion.

MS was town. KCW was certainly not town. I'd like to hear what arimneas thinks of his logic now.
It's morphin' time
One kill means:
a) we don't have a vig/sk
b) any vig/sk kept the gun in his pocket
c) any vig/sk was role blocked.
d) the mafia was role blocked and KCW was vig/sk killed
e) a doc picked right and prevented a kill either mafia or vig/sk
f) the scum failed to submit a night choice?
I tend to think KCW was done in by a vig or sk to test his claim. I think it would be awfully risky for the scum to target KCW on the off chance he was telling the truth.
Sorry about the double post, just wanted to make sure I got my morph in.

Um, what? What evidence is there that KCW was not town? Wasn't his name in the same color as Machin Shin's?
Mod, can we get confirmation on KCW's alignment (I assume it's supposed to be apparent, but I'm not totally sure.)
I'm a bit color-blind, but even I can see that KCW's color is not blue like MS's. KCW's name is either red (which I assume is scum) or purple (which I guess is neutral) Would someone with better eyes please tell me?

This screams of OMGUS. "This guy is attacking me, it MUST be craplogic!"
Thank you for responding logically and maturely to my case against you.
Finally something I agree with.
But what really sticks in my craw is this:
If you actually read my PBPA, you'll notice there were multiple occasions on which I noted something which could be a scum tell, but which I specifically decided not to hold against you for the sake of objectivity.
Not only does this not seem like a townie's response, this seems way, way off from your play in Drawn Together Mafia. I'm going to sleep on this, then I'll be back tomorrow with, most likely, a vote on either RA or MS.
I'm just awaiting your response before I decide my vote.
No. I stated exactly what you said. You said one of them, but you're also under suspect, and therefore one of the lynch candidates. It seems like purposeful and subtle non-mentioning of yourself while directing the votes towards others.
Sarcasm flatters neither of us. However I do still find your logic lacking. I'm still waiting and willing to respond to any specific question someone may have about your analysis of my postings.
Perhaps you're referring the OMGUS vote you once put on me? Seriously though, it wasn't the attack that made it crap, it was the logic that made it crap.
The deadline of tomorrow, May 17th at 10:00, still stands.

What puts me off is your reaction of "OMG j00 r teh suck I'm not even going to bother defending myself against your crappity crap!"
If you had responded logically and maturely to my argument, rather than indulging in a fit of apoplexy, I wouldn't have had to make that comment.
I did not prejudge you. I found your actions scummy after reading them once, and they didn't seem any less scummy when I read them again. You keep saying how I'm "using craplogic" and "blowing smoke" without any actual rebuttal of my points.
This is not metagaming. This is judging your reaction, and finding it scummy.
That is the point we are debating. I happen to disagree.
Okay, great. You know your own alignment. Guess what? I don't know your alignment. And there is absolutely nothing you said in this paragraph that you couldn't have said as scum.
I concede that no one seriously challenged you in Drawn Together Mafia. I think it is fair to compare your play here with other games, however.
You’ll note that there were many people grilling KCW. So why did I single you out? Because your grilling, in many circumstances, involved craplogic and ill-founded suspicions and accusations. Those look bad regardless of KCW’s alignment. If KCW is town, I’m 90% sure you’re scum. If he’s scum, then I’m much less certain of you. That’s the only reason I want to lynch someone else today. I happen to think KCW is town right now because if he’s scum, he’s dug himself into quite a hole, and his scummitude will come to light soon enough.
No, I doubt he’s referring to that.
Yet again you say my logic was crap. Are you ever going to back up these aspersions with argument of your own?
AM or PM?
I’m going to vote Machin Shin, at least until he posts his response.
I will try to see the thread before the deadline but no garuntees.
Unvote, Vote: Machin Shin.
There is no rebuttal for this, since no one but you knows what goes on in your mind and when. But I would add that the appearance of prejudice still remains.
Metagaming by definition is referencing information from outside the current game thread. That would include your actions and mine in Drawn Together.
I did not write that to prove my townishness. You made a specific comment about my actions my which I specifically explained. I don't expect you to believe me because you are still not ready to accept the possibility/probability/certainty that you may be wrong. (And please don't forget: your alignment is as much in doubt as anyone else's)
A concession. There's hope afterall. But once again this is metagaming. I'm not so concerned with the "fairness" of it. What concerns me more is the wisdom of it. I will not metagame you because you are now in a different game in a different circumstance, reacting to different players. I would expect you to behave somewhat differently here. If I assumed you were scum because you act otherwise, I would most likely be mistaken. No one can stop you from metagaming, but you disservice the town by doing so. The evidence is just too unreliable.
I would hardly characterize the suspicion and accusations against KCW as "unfounded," especially considering the general uproar it created early on. And while his grilling may have been excessive in hubris on my part, I believe the logic is sound.
And scum never dig themselves into holes? Scum never make outlandish claims which stretch credibility to the limit? Isn't it possible that his "scummitude" has already come to light? Considering the nature of his claim, I think you need far better reasons than this to clear him. This definately needs further explanation. If you're right, you will save the town from mislynching/vigging a potential power role. So please explain your reasoning in further detail.
Okay, but if you really wanted to do the town a service, as you are so often requesting of me, you should have responded to my points and clarified your own statements (since you clearly believe I misinterpreted them.) Instead of doing this, you dismissed everything I wrote as crap and directly stated you weren't going to make a defense.
But there is a potential rebuttal for the specific points I made against you. And despite posting three times since then, you've failed to give it.
But the part I was referring to was where I said "I don't think this is how a townie would react", as opposed to when I said "this is different from your play in Drawn Together."
There is no way it's a certainty, and whether it's even a probability is debatable. I am perfectly willing to accept that I might be wrong, but I happen to think I'm right. Hence why we're having this argument in the first place.
I haven't forgotten.
Respond to these points of mine, and then we can discuss whether you were making ill-founded accusations or not.
Voting Machin Shin?
I would like a claim from MS, personally. Ending the day in No Lynch simply because we couldn't make up our minds in three weeks is st00pid.
I have a sneaking suspicion we're going to go forced No Lynch today, because half the freaking players are either lurking or not paying attention.

Until finally you all go looking for the subject of your confusion.
In KCW's sleeping area, where you find him, broken necked and covered in flowers.
6. "Kendrix Morgan, the Pink Ranger," had his neck broken Night 1.
It is now Day 2. Deadline is set for June 22nd, at 10:00(PM).

It's morphin' time!
Is's Morphin' time!
ill post more latre, but i got to go to school.
Its* whops i spell really bad
It's morphin' time
One kill means:
a) we don't have a vig/sk
b) any vig/sk kept the gun in his pocket
c) any vig/sk was role blocked.
d) the mafia was role blocked and KCW was vig/sk killed
e) a doc picked right and prevented a kill either mafia or vig/sk
f) the scum failed to submit a night choice?
I tend to think KCW was done in by a vig or sk to test his claim. I think it would be awfully risky for the scum to target KCW on the off chance he was telling the truth.
Uh, I mean... it's morphin' time!
Sorry about the double post, just wanted to make sure I got my morph in.
I'd like to hear what arimneas thinks of his logic now.
Um, what? What evidence is there that KCW was not town? Wasn't his name in the same color as Machin Shin's?
Mod, can we get confirmation on KCW's alignment (I assume it's supposed to be apparent, but I'm not totally sure.)
