You know what I find most interesting? The fact that there were only 3 votes on him.
:nono:
About ST, I agree that his post that everyone else is ripping just screams SCUM about as loud and clear as possible. His butchered use of "a trap" and "logic" make the English language want to have a word with him outside the thread.
I will however, wait for a claim before placing my vote on him, I just didn't want what happened with ZDS's turbo claim earlier happening again without getting my $.02 in here.
Just went through the large number of posts that were turned in since last night.

Awfully scummy logic to me, ZDS. Not only are you taking the OMGUS route, but you know you have no proof. What's the point of FoS'ing someone if you have no proof?
I'm suprised you didn't try to argue against ZDS' point of view, Pod. This confirms that you and probably ZDS are mafia.
Pod, could you also care to explain why you jump on everyone's bandwagon (ZDS, WoD), and have FoS'd almost everyone in a short enough timespan? FoS'ing everyone in less than a day is obvious proof that you're mafia.
Vote: Pod
Really forceful line of reasoning IMHO particularly the way it ended up with Pod's vote. However the way that people starting turning votes on ST sounds a bit suspicious.
ZDS and Cyan seem to have been waiting for such an occassion and that in itself sounds scummy to me.
Some noob questions [because I guess that's what this is for :)] What is the meaning of OMGUS and FoS?

I'm going to address this post once we finish dealing with Shino, I don't want to distract from the issue at hand right now.
FOS: Shino Tenshi. I'm getting a distinct feeling of scum from you, but you're already at four votes and I wouldn't want to inadvertantly give the mafia a free lnch in the possibility that you're town. I'd still like to see a reasonable explanation for your behavior, and possibly a role claim.
Also, FOS: Wrath_of_DoG. The bandwagon against him may have dissipated, but I still have my suspicions. So I'll be watching you all.

I'm somewhat disconcerted that Shino posted 50+ times on the site today, basically continually all day long, but, couldn't be bothered to post in this thread, even though he's been at 4 votes since around noon.

Wrath of Dog, I haven't forgotten you. You're only making yourself look like a better vote candidate by insinuating that I deliberately lied about how many votes were on ZDS just to get a claim out of him. I thought that I saw a Vote:ZDS in Silent Prophet's responses, that's all. Why I thought this, I'm not sure..but it's irrelevant...what you're suggesting that I did would make absolutely no sense..the fact that you would even make that implication, let alone FOS me for it, makes it look like you're just trying to find reasons to find dirt on me.

I think it could indeed have been a mistake, but if it isnt then it makes a LOT of sense.
I guess it's time for me to speak. I practically see myself dead either way, but whatever. (Seriously, my best case scenario is being the scapegoat, the worst case is wasting 30 minutes of my time on people who've already made up their mind)
I'm not mafia. I'm a townsperson. If I were really mafia, not only would I have jumped the ZDS bandwagon before he got a chance to post, but I would also have lurked more (like Salubrious has lurked). I'm really too stupid to be mafia, otherwise there would have already been one lynching.
If you look at the people who've voted for me, there's 2 people who I suspected, using sound logic (although I've done more logic papers than 90% of the people here), and in response they went all OMGUS at me. (Pod and ZDS) Then you have the two people riding the bandwagon (Ged, making every misinterpretation under the sun of what I've said; and Cyan, who's so confused I really don't know where to start)
@Ged/Cyan: If you actually care to read my posting, then you'll realise that there's only been 3 people who I've suspected (quite far from everyone). They were WoD (which I've already dropped), Pod (for the eagerness to get anyone under the bandwagon eliminated (I'm also suprised why you haven't done the same accusations towards Pod, Ged)), and ZDS (every motive he utters just reeks of scummyness). Hardly the plethora which has been claimed.
But whatever, I already realise that there's at leat one scum voting me, if not two. If you really think that lynching me to let the mafia get a kill is worth it, then be my guest.

No, it makes no sense. It makes no sense for the following reason(s): Let's say ZDS claimed(obviously I would have absolutely no idea what he would claim), and his claim wasn't believable or something. A couple more people add their votes to him, and we think that he's lynched. Hey, maybe even he thinks that he is lynched, but still insists that he is a townie...if someone thinks they're lynched and says they're town..then they're town. There's no sense lying at that juncture, literally no one does it. Then, lo and behold, the Mod(or anyone, it wasn't even the Mod in this case) points out that he is, in fact, not lynched. Then, ZDS would be a confirmed townie in every sense of the word, because he maintained his innocence even after everyone(himself included) thought he was lynched. You know what happens then? I get lynched, because it was my 'lie' that caused people to nearly lynch him to begin with. For what you are saying to be even remotely valid, I would have to hope for the following: A)ZDS had a bad claim and, more importantly, B)I would have to hope that he would get 1 vote more than would be necessary for him to seemingly need, since he technically had 1 less vote than I had stated. This is virtually an impossibility..people barely even post once someone has reached the necessary amount of votes for a lynch, certainly no one adds more votes onto the pile.
I'm highly, highly curious as to how it makes 'ALOT of sense' for me to have gone out of my way and lied about how many votes were on him, when in reality, it makes no sense whatsoever..please explain it for the rest of us.
It was an error, pure and simple. Even after Ged pointed out that ZDS only had 3 votes on him, my first reaction was that Ged had missed a vote, not that I had miscounted..I went back and read over the period were ZDS accumulated votes repeatedly, trying to figure out where I got the 4th vote from..finally, I realized that Silent Prophet never actually voted him, I just imagined that he had(certainly, he had reason to).
@Shino: Ignoring the fact that literally your entire post there is scummy(defeatism, trying to distract our attention towards Salubrious, copious amounts of WIFOM), that's not quite how claiming works. Obviously you are going to say 'I'm a townsperson(unless you also play Mafia by the name of Tigerlily on WIFOM.net..but that's another story). When you claim(which it seems like you tried to do, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt), the idea is that you present us with information that will want us to not lynch you, especially if you're town. This means telling us your role name and what abilities, if any, that you have. Please include the above information in your next post, if you're interested in staying alive. And if you're actually part of the town, you need to be interested in staying alive.
I'm not really in a fit state atm to be playing mafia, due to circumstances out of my control. Just vote me off if you want, and if you want an explanation why I'm doing this then fire me a pm.

Obviously we don't want to just vote you away for no reason. If you feel like you can't play, just ask to be replaced(it's not the happiest situation to replace into, but, someone might do it), don't just give up and let yourself be lynched.
Regardless of what you decide to do, please claim so that the game can still progress while you decide whether or not you can keep playing/need to be replaced/etc.(I hope you can just work whatever it is out, replacing really throws a game off for awhile).

Ok, I'll spell it out. If it wasnt a mistake, then you are mafioso trying to elicit a claim from a townie. I actually agree that it was probably an honest mistake, so I'm not trying to stir up more trouble, but you asked me for an explanation, so there it is.
@Shino - What Pod says is true, you should file for replacement if you think your current circumstances might have a negative effect on your game.

All of these are valid points in his post, you just forgot that he didn't actually claim when common sense and the town call him to do so. Instead all he did was become a medium-sized creature (i.e. use the "I'm a townie defense").

LOL, actually, I already had someone volunteer. There was also an additional sign-up in the original thread. But seriously, if Shino isn't going to be able to play, I need to know quickly in order to keep the game flowing.
@WoD: Did you read the whole huge paragraph where I explained that it has to be a mistake and can't be a ploy? Scum don't try to randomly just force claims out of people, claiming is simply a necessary part of the lynch process. I've already showed how it would be impossible for me to being a scum deliberating misrepresenting the vote to try to get him lynched; thus; it is similarly impossible that I was just 'trying to elicit a claim'. Honestly, it's sad that you keep trying to paint every action I take as scummy.
I hope that Shino lets us know whether or not he wants to be replaced soon, so we can see his claim and assess it and I can get back to voting WoD

@Pod: Just because someone is a power role doesn't mean they'd know how to behave to hide that fact. Look at Hyram in Newb 8. I agree that Shino was probably saying that he's a Vanilla Townie, but, he needs to say that, along with telling us his role. If all it took for a claim was 'I'm not mafia, I'm a townsperson', claiming would never accomplish anything.
@ZDS: Don't be too surprised, he's been trying to make me look bad for the entirety of the game.
Ok so I've been thinking about the current situation and I came out with the following line of reasoning.
Starting from the premise that Shino Tenshi is a townsperson (he's either really honest or a very good actor. However if he does not leave the game I'll change the conclusions I came to due to wrong premises):
If ST is honest, then Cyan and Pod have hit on him really hard. What I find interesting though is that Cyan jumped on the bandwagon soon after Pod voted for ST, even though the evidence was far from compelling. It seems that the two are following a similar line of thought and to me that is a sign of Mafia.
Here's what I am referring to:
Wow, I could have sworn that Silent Prophet had Voted as well..how awful.
Quote from Pod post131 »
Please spill your line of reasoning. It don't see how it couldn't be educational.
Vote Shino Tenshi
Quote from Cyan post 139 »
It seems like Shino is trying extremely hard to throw suspicion on everyone that he can, and the reasoning behind his attacks on ZDS and Pod are comical at best. Unvote, Vote Shino Tenshi
Well, it seems like the reason everyone thought there was 4 votes on ZDS was because they thought I had voted. I DID talk about the possibility of voting for him, but at the end, I went with a FoS. Perhaps people just assumed I'd voted for him because of that? I feel responsible for the confusion, I will be more clear in the future.
With all that said, Un-FoS Pod. His earlier actions seem to line up how he played in Newb 8 and he was townie in that game. I am still slightly suspicious, but then again, isn't that the name of the game? Shouldn't we be suspicious of everybody? I am just no longer suspicious enough to leave my Fos on him.
Those two different quoted lines from me aren't even the same conversation.
When I was talking about thinking that SP had voted, I was talking about voting for ZDS, and why I thought he was at 4 votes and needing to claim.
Something like 5 posts ago, you yourself said that you'd vote for ST if he wasn't at 4 votes already. It's interesting that you're condemning myself and Pod for voting for ST, but, also are saying that you want to vote him yourself.
Ok so I've been thinking about the current situation and I came out with the following line of reasoning.
Starting from the premise that Shino Tenshi is a townsperson (he's either really honest or a very good actor. However if he does not leave the game I'll change the conclusions I came to due to wrong premises)
I don't think Shino is a very good actor or really honest. He's not convincing me that he's town as opposed to scum (though I'm not posative he's scum, he's my best bet at this point), and he's clearly not being really honest as we can't even figure out if he claimed or not.
Honestly, I think either Shino Tenshi needs to clarify his last post and his claim, or his replacement needs to do the same. Until then, my vote will remain where it is.
Something like 5 posts ago, you yourself said that you'd vote for ST if he wasn't at 4 votes already.
Never said that.
What I said is that I'd vote for ST hadn't he said that he'd be resigning from playing Mafia atm. And just before that he said he's townsfolk. Sounds aalot like an 'involuntary confession'. That's why I am assuming that he's telling the truth.
Involuntary confession? He was at 4 votes and didn't even clearly state what he was claiming. How do you put much faith into that at all?
To me he sounded stressed out not because of the voting but rather for other things. I'll hold this position, keeping an eye on what happens in the forthcoming days.
He said 'I'm not mafia, I'm a townsperson'. That's not an involuntary confession.
Also, you are condeming Pod and myself for Voting for ST, but, you flatly stated that you would vote him yourself, except for outstanding circumstances(a classic mafia tell is agreeing that a person should be voted, but, finding a reason not to do so).
That's why I am assuming that he's telling the truth.
This shouldn't be your operating assumption. Unless you're a mason or mafia, you know nothing and should thus assume nothing. The only confirmed townie is a dead townie, and you should look upon all your fellow players with suspicion.
Anyways, Shino has yet to convince me of his innocence, and I'd like to see him clarify his claim of "I'm a townsperson".

Ok, your last few posts are rather disturbing to me...
At first you mention that ST is a little scummy, but wish to point fingers instead at the people who also recognize this fact.
You have a desire to vote for ST prior to him saying that he needs to not play anymore, mostly due to the post that sets me at edge more than any other of his posts do too, but then decide that, since he is leaving, not to vote.
Next you have a complete 180 and suddenly ST is obviously town. With this comes further accusations on the people that saw ST as scum, and rightly so from his posts...
I don't buy that you suddenly think he is exonorated for no good reason at all...
Why not just explain it now? I mean, honestly, I doubt ST is going to get lynched in the next day..he hasn't been on the site all day, so I'm sure he'll have another day to post and get mod-prodded, and then a couple more days before he could get replaced for not posting. Regardless, though, if you have something to add, why not add it now?
Considering some people came in the sign-up thread complaining about how fast the game filled up, it is probable that we won't have to wait until more than tomorrow to see a remplacement.
Nothing more to say…
Sure there is: The replacement will have quite a bit of explaining to do.:D
Hey all, I'll be out of town this weekend and will be back by Monday. I'll be driving up to GP St. Louis. I might be able to use the internet while there, but I'm not sure. Anywho, wish me luck!
Hello, Coiled Flame. Once you've read the thread and caught up, would you mind clarifying Shino's claim? We need to know more about you than the fact that you're allegedly a "townsperson".
Oh, and enjoy the game, of course.

You're not off to a great start. Whether or not you're mafia has nothing to do with the type of poster that you are. You're either mafia, or you're not. Also, if ST was mafia, since you're replacing for him, that would also make you Mafia. You're a couple of votes from being lynched, and off to a bad start now. Please claim so that we can decide whether or not to lynch you.
@Coiled Flame: I suggest that you read through some other games to get an understanding of how Mafia works. Newb 7 is a good one(I advise against reading Newb 8..it was highly abnormal, one player had to be modkilled for disappearing, and the Mod himself had to be replaced because he started having computer issues). Honestly, if your understanding of Mafia is so lacking that you don't even know why a person is a mafia member, I'm disappointed that you agreed to replace into an existing game.

Wow, I could have sworn that Silent Prophet had Voted as well..how awful.
My conclusion: FoS Cyan, Vote Pod
With all that said, Un-FoS Pod. His earlier actions seem to line up how he played in Newb 8 and he was townie in that game. I am still slightly suspicious, but then again, isn't that the name of the game? Shouldn't we be suspicious of everybody? I am just no longer suspicious enough to leave my Fos on him.

Never said that.
What I said is that I'd vote for ST hadn't he said that he'd be resigning from playing Mafia atm. And just before that he said he's townsfolk. Sounds aalot like an 'involuntary confession'. That's why I am assuming that he's telling the truth.
To me he sounded stressed out not because of the voting but rather for other things. I'll hold this position, keeping an eye on what happens in the forthcoming days.
Also, you are condeming Pod and myself for Voting for ST, but, you flatly stated that you would vote him yourself, except for outstanding circumstances(a classic mafia tell is agreeing that a person should be voted, but, finding a reason not to do so).

Very interesting.
