I wish people would STOP the habit of voting themselves when they believe they'd get lynched. It lost us last newb game. I'm NOTwilling to let it happen again this game. Pod, unvote, and if you're going to be lynched we'll do it the proper way ok? It makes voting patterns make more sense like that.

That's better. Now, some proper discussion while you're away from risk of insta-lynch.
@ Lord Rahl, Back-up roles, while not so common, I wouldn't peg as being unlikely. Afterall, the setup for this game could include any number of:
Quote from Perigrine Falcon, Post #1 »
-Vigilante: The Vigilante is a killer on the Town side who can either choose to kill every night, or choose to kill a certain number of times during the game, depending on the variation.
-Back-up Doc: Assumes the Doctor's abilities after the Doctor dies.
-Back-up Cop: Assumes the Cop's abilities after the Cop dies.
-Role blocker: Chooses one player per night to block from performing his or her Night Choice.
-Mason: The Masons are a group on the Town's side who know each other to be townies and can talk to each other at Night.
In no way is the doc + cop + 1 shot vig + 2 mafia + 1 mafia roleblocker + vanilla townies formula set in stone. If the other newb games on this site are any indication, we should expect some deviation from this formula.
On that note, I'm hoping for the easiest way out of this, which is a counterclaim.
If we don't get that, and I admit it seems unlikely we will,
The main problem with a claimed backup doc is right after the real doc dies, the backup doc will get killed too. I can't see the mafia letting a working doc live (subject to WIFOM of course, but I would imagine docs serious hinder mafia efforts). Evidently that moment will tell if he's telling the truth or not. Unfortunately, it may never come, or it may not come until too late.
Until then, either we lynch him or we don't. I think its bad to end the day this early. Lynching him later day 1 is possible, just be sure not to forget.

I'll laugh for awhile if someone counterclaims. But it's doubtful, because like I said, I just can't believe that newb Mafia would have a doc AND a backup doc. Mafia sure will have a hard road ahead if this is the case though. Anyway, I agree that the moment to lynch Pod has passed, for now...he still might be a good Day 1 lynch, but, right this moment he's not. Unvote Pod
Firstly:
Lynching a townie is never good for the town, unless it confirms the existence of a scum, and it doesn't lose us the game.
On a side note, lurkers post more.

I think that voting himself to 5 votes was a great play. It was clear at that point that no one else was going to add a vote to him, and by voting himself to 1 vote from lynch, he knew that someone with a vote on him would get scared and unvote him. Then he could just unvote himself and be completely out of harms way. Considering how Mafia games tend to go, I highly doubt he'll get lynched today at all. And all of this based off a bad claim that is essentially impossible to validate.
The moment for Pod seeming like a good lynch has more or less passed for now. The interesting part is that he more or less forced it to pass, and we let him. Largely this is due to the fact that Hyram probably just unvoted and stopped even reading until the day ends, and a large amount of the players aren't participating much so far. It's understandable, people generally seem to assume that lots of posts/aggressive playing automatically = scum. Of course, too much lurking also makes people think you're scum, so everyone just sits around trying to find that balance of just enough posting to not seem scummy, but not posting too much to also not seem scummy. Eventually if you consistently are aggressive/post alot through multiple games people won't hold this against you...but you seem to have to play alot for that to happen.
By the way, hello to all spectators, hope you enjoy our game

I am trying to help here, but with work and school, I haven't had the usual 14 hours a day to devote to the forum (like when this started). Besides, ZDS, Rahl, and Pod have been saying some very interesting things when left to their own devices, especially with some help from Cyan there.
For when I did come in with that mostly useless message about Pod breaking my brain, it was talking about what Cyan was bringing up here.
When I first saw that while lurking at work, the first thing I thought of was how completely and utterly that WIFOM's anything we do from this point on with him.
It doesn't really do that, but that was my first reaction. Quite frankly, it's timing seemed to be just right for him. Let's break down what I see from him voting for himself right there.
1) He's town. Any scum who logged on right then could have voted for him, and *poof*, he would be lynched. The scum could just say that if Pod was voting for himself, so we may as well axe him. How would the scum have gotten away with it? By crying noob.
2) He's town. Big gamble here that scenario #1 doesn't happen, and even when it doesn't, it leaves us all wondering what the hell was with him and being so crazy, and far from clears him.
3) He's scum. He can vote for himself, and rest assured the other scum won't vote. All of us put thought into it and decide to not vote him to lynch, and some of us even unvote him to get him away from lynch. Pod has just done a superb job of stalling, even if we weren't actually that close to lynching him.
4) He's scum. He doesn't expect anyone to vote for him, but some noob goes and votes for him, not knowing that waiting was a good thing. Pod gets his neck in a noose, and accidentally winds up dead from his own bluff.
Now, he didn't get himself lynched, so we know #1 and #4 didn't happen. That only leaves us with #2 and #3. As much as I said #2 was a possibility, I just don't see it happening, seems like too juicy of an opportunity for the scum to jump on, which would be outcome #1. #1 didn't happen, so that moves us on to #3, and only #3.
It seems right to me, but I can't quite convince myself that this isn't all just WIFOM...
I'm also sorry for lurking. But school vacation is over, and homework beckons. Though I don't have the time to constantly post, I check this thread regularly to keep up on events. Speaking of which...
Pod's behavior is really interesting, and I'm not entirely sure what to make of it. He could be either town or mafia. Right now I'm leaning toward scum, but considering this is a newb mafia game, Pod could just as easily be an inexperienced townie, as we all are. The problem is that we don't really have such a developed case on any other person. Although Hooga's comment interests me:

I don't, you're taking that in the wrong context. Each mafia member's votes have more swing, with Hyrams vote on Pod, that lessened the Townies voting power and increased the Mafia's voting power. IF Pod is Town, then it means he had an innate -1 to vote agianst. which means that he doesnt quite need majority vote anymore.
By helping the mafia finger someone, i'm referring to Pod, who if he isnt mafia, would have a much easier time lynching him then others. But unless EVERYONE voting for him is mafia, i kinda see that as unlikely.
Am i making any sense?

The problem is that you're misinterpretting hooga. The question he was trying to raise was how did you know that Hyram was a townie, and thus making the mafia's job easier. If he had been mafia, it wouldn't have made their job any easier, because there would have already been a mafia vote on Pod.
I don't know hyram is town either... it's just that he hasnt set of my Sumdar anywhere NEAR as much as pod, as in zero, so hence, i will classify him as town.
As atm i believe ZDS and cyan to be.

You are making sense in this interpretation.
Of course, we can't really set Hyram on our scumdars either way atm. hmm, that's probably what you mean by zero.
Lightster, that is, as you guessed, WIFOM. We can't second-guess the scum. The part where you assume that your option 1 is better for the scum than your option 2 is the worst part. Maybe the scum do, maybe the scum don't, we can't eliminate any of the possibilities as being better.
Cyan, I agree with you about Pod except I don't see any advantage of ending the day now.

It's never in favor of town to end the day, unless we're sure that we've caught a scum. Truly, I think we had one..but he slipped away. But if that's the case, we'll catch him eventually. I just feel like he WIFOM'd us into total confusion and somehow got away with it, that's all that bothers me. But then again, he could just be really noobish. To me, he's not even remotely cleared..but he doesn't seem like the right lynch for right this minute.
Pod messed up and gave off a TON of scum tells really early, and got pretty close to being lynched. He was forced to fully claim, and even then, while no one else was voting him, some people expressed that his claim COULD be believable. But did anyone unvote him? No. Not at that point at least. Then, Pod spouts out alot of random WIFOM that makes like no sense whatsoever, and I comment on it, and he immediately votes himself to being 1 vote from lynch. This is a safe play. No one is going to vote you for your last vote after you voted yourself for your second to last vote, because they're going to look like scum no matter what. Even if Pod turned up scum in that situation, the person is just going to come across as scum that was trying to distance him/herself from Pod...and that person is probably getting lynched the next day(probably as in they're lynched if they don't get nightkilled and aren't the doc/cop). Because he voted himself for the 2nd to last vote, Pod honestly could have sat at 5 votes for eternity and probably not gotten lynched unless he made some really bad play a significant amount of time later.
Fortunately for him, none of this came into the picture, because the other possible scenario played out. Someone that was already on his bandwagon and had already expressed belief in his claim decided to play it safe and unvote him...and obviously said that Pod should unvote himself as well, which he did IMMEDIATELY.
He'll survive today because, in light of the fact that A) he acted totally scummy and B)he posted a claim that most people don't even believe and C)he has used more WIFOM than I ever thought humanly possible(and town has very, very little reason to use WIFOM, because it just confuses people), the momentum against him is pretty much lost. There were plenty of reasons to lynch him, but, it didn't happen. Either A)he duped us and will be much more careful in what he says now(plus, as time passes, people will just fall into believing in his claim because there's no real way to disprove it..becuase that's how people are) or B)he's genuinely town and just..doesn't think about how people are going to react to what he says at all? I dunno.
Anyway, I hope that explains it. If not, let me know and I'll try again. Either way, I'm going to put my vote back where it belongs(Vote Pod)(apparently I convinced myself at least, heh) and hope that some of the people that haven't participated alot read the thread and realize how obviously scummy he has acted thus far.
Oh, as a quick last note, in his second to last post, randomly out of nowhere Pod FOSes Salubrious, but for no real reason. This is obviously an attempt to distract us from him immediately after some of the pressure was taken off of him. Once again, a noob scum tell, IMO. But like I said, even though I think he should be lynched, I don't think he will...look what he's gotten away with already, I just don't see what else he could do to convince people that he's scum other than what he's done already.
Mosschop: I just feel like my vote belongs there, I'm not even really trying to convince anyone else at this juncture. Right now, he's also like the only conceivable candidate. In all of my last post, most of it is just trying to explain how I think that Pod pulled the wool over our eyes, because ZDS asked me to do so, I only briefly mention something recent that he's done that I see as scummy, at the very end.
ZDS: Yes, essentially, that is what I was trying to say...that and, from what I've read in other Mafia games, generally when a person could be lynched and they weren't, rarely do they end up being lynched that same day. That, and, Mafia is a game of knowing people and how to read into what people say and how people act/react...and by the large, when people have an idea, but dismiss that idea for whatever reason, rarely do they go back to an idea while another idea is available.
Right now, he's also like the only conceivable candidate.
I'm getting this impression from everyone right now: Either Pod is the only reasonable vote at this time, or we're back to square 1, with Pod having fully revealed (whether you believe it the truth in it or not). I think we are starting to stagnate on this point, and need to keep going.
So lets see about getting some sort of list here of people who have let off scum tells, acted scummy, or even if something just isn't sitting right. Basically, lets just put in our 2-cents about who our two (2) top scum candidates are right now, each of us; feel free to include Pod, this is part of the reason why I have suggested top two instead of top one.
Here are mine, in no particular order: Nymphe, Rahl.
Nymphe is playing like he is scared of something. I'm not sure whether this is us, as a group, as all of his posts are from this mafia, or if it is from us, as a town, with him playing scum. FoS Nymphe until we get a bit more activity out of you, should that activity steer me away from thinking that you are scum.
Rahl, however, is being much more aggressive. What better way to stay out of the gun sights, than to be the one holding the gun? In this noob game, you and Cyan are both ahead of the curve, and can afford to be bullish, as you'll have a better idea how to deflect criticism. No FoS for this, since it could just be your play style, but I'll still be KMEOY.
Pod didn't make my list, because I actually believe the claim. Seems to random to post a claim like that, if PF didn't actually give it to him. If our choices are bad town, or really bad mafia, I don't think he would have noticed the lack of flavour between Wheaties being the back-up doc on his own.
P.S. Yes, this is blatantly stolen from Power Rangers Mafia, where they also brought up the idea of listing top scum candidates to help stir up conversation again after a confusing reveal from one of their players as well.
My top 1 is Nymphe, for either lurking and not posting, or not reading the thread. Either way, its been long enough to request a modprod Nymphe
As for my #2, I honestly don't know. Pod is suspicious obviously. I have gut feelings on a few others but they're just gut feelings, which I don't see as evidence.

Nymphe does seem suspicious. Like, he/she has about 3(I might have missed 1) posts total. One of them is a pointless really early post, the second is to insinuate that Pod and LR are both Mafia(but not vote or even FOS either one), but doesn't give any evidence as to why this would be the case, the last is just re-stating post 2. It seems like Nymphe is probably scum and just is afraid to act at all because he/she doesn't know how. Unvote, Vote Nymphe.
EDBWODP:
Also, I still think Pod is scum, but I guess that will have to wait until later. Of course, it'll be hard to get much information from him, since he seems to have essentially stopped posting since he was almost lynched...which I also find suspicious..but whatever.
I'm not really sure how to say this...so I'm just gonna. In response to the allegations made against me...here's my explanation as to why i don't post much.
Originally said by Pod:
Now this irratates me. The fact that he doesn't post much could be because he doesn't go on the internet often or doesn't go on MTGS often or whatever. There could be a chance he's forgotten, and the mod prod (is it a pm or an email?) will make little difference. Hopefully though I'm just jumping the gun, he will respond and everything's groovy.
1) I don't visit this site much, because I don't play magic. In fact, the only reason I'm on this site at all is because I played RL mafia at a lan party once, and Arimanes (who was also there) told me to try out forum mafia, and this is the link he sent me.
2) I don't go on the internet much at all, because I have dail-up, and the limited internet time i have...is better spent doing other things
3) I'm a junior at TJHSST, and AP week is NEXT week, so I've been busting my ass studying and not playing mafia.
In conclusion: Upon trying it out, I've discovered that forum mafia is a much bigger time commitment than I had guessed. So as a result, WITH THE MOD'S PERMISSION I WOULD LIKE TO DEFER MY SLOT TO THE REPLACEMENT
In a few weeks, I'm pretty sure I'll have more time to play something like this. Untill then, I just don't have the time to follow all the details and strategies and everything associated with this game.

Well, if that's the case, and you're asking to be replaced because of it, Unvote. Obviously it's not scummy to not post because you're just not interested..although it's somewhat annoying. Thanks for stepping up and asking to be replaced at least.
Pod, that doesn't even make sense. If you are genuinely town, how can it POSSIBLY be a 'good idea for you to be lynched, especially to the point of voting for yourself?
As for your unvoting..Hooga had already unvoted you, hence you were still had 2 votes left, there wasn't any real pressure at that point.
Your reasons just aren't making sense, to me. But please explain. For now, my vote is not on you, because it's kind of hard to believe at this point that you could be scum and be sooo awful. But then, maybe that's the point. Anyway..please explain better the things that I addressed above.

I really rather not see anyone else have to drop aswell, but it has been 3 days again... Can we get a little bit less thought, and a little bit more posting? Heck, even just a post saying "I'm alive" would be preferable, though probably get you in trouble for lurking instead of inactivity.
@Pod: Regardless of whether you are a scum or townie, I think you need to realize the disassociation between RL and the forums. Surely you "know" this, but I don't think you really understand. You can take some time to write up a post, and think on it a bit. Sometimes you will want to make the post right away, sometimes you will want to think for an hour before posting. Generally, that's ok. You don't have to IMMEDIATELY post something the instant you see it. It's quite possible we won't even know that you saw it yet. And even if we did, allowing you a few minutes to gather your thoughts into a cohesive post, that makes sense, is worth our wait.
If you change your mind about something you said you were going to do, however, make sure that you DO post immediately about that, and EXPLAIN why. As we have shown you from our actions so far, we don't really appreciate being told one thing, while you do another.
All in all, if you're scum, I want you lynched for being scummy. If you're town, I want you to live by not being scummy. I don't really want everyone to sit here in a daze of confusion and eventually lynch you for causing chaos.
Ta-da! Done my advice column now, so I guess I better go grab a pen and paper and start making notes... Honestly, when I started mafia, I didn't think we would need to be this organized. :/
For those who read my goof in the sign-up thread, I have a bit more to say. This wasn't here when I got the first post ready.
Quote from Pod »
I consider myself a good lynch, I spread confusion, act without thinking sometimes and make the game move at a speed that the mafia can take control of. I am trying not to now, but defending earlier situations that could have been handled in a better way, without resorting to extreme WIFOM is getting increasingly hard.
Read above. Learn. Don't lynch yourself for no reason, we have better and more productive things to do during our days than lynch someone for play errors.
This is also why I stopped posting as much as at the start, and why I am getting a paper and pen to take notes. WIFOM is not where I want to be going, aside from the mental nausea every time I think some up, as my mind relentlessly tries to find some end to it.
Quote from Cyan »
Every post you make seems like more and more WIFOM, I think I'm just going to drop it.
Maybe just let it build up a bit, and then go after it again. I agree with you that this is a bad to lynch him, assuming we ever should. I have posted my reasons for believing his claim.
Quote from Cyan »
If you get to 5 votes, I will lynch you in a minute(I wanted to get this out there now so that it doesn't look like I'm cliff-pushing him if it comes to that)
Noted. Odd, but noted. I advise you to rethink this every once in a while, but if you continue to feel it is the right decision, forge ahead.
Ever since I voted for myself though, you have been trying to convince everyone that I'm not scum, that I'm a newb in or some way or another, but not scum. Hell, in the last post you said you found it hard to believe that I was scum. So why do you want to vote me off? Why the change of heart?
No, I don't think you've been reading my posts correctly. I think one of two things.
A)You are scum. I don't need to explain why, IMO, as I've explained it multiples times already.
B)You are just an extremely bad player. I don't mean any offense here, but, it's the only other option.
Honestly, I think you are scum, and I'm sure enough of this that I'm willing to lynch you. However, even though you're under heavy suspicion, your play hasn't really gotten any better at all, so, I'm willing to admit that option B is a possibility. That is why my vote isn't on you. I could see myself changing my mind about you, and I don't want to accidentally leave my vote there and have you get lynched when I wasn't in favor of that anymore. I'm more likely to remember that I'm currently not voting for you than that I currently am.
Lighster:
Yeah, of course, if I decide that I think he's town(unlikely) then I wouldn't lynch him. I was just saying, if he gets to 5 votes any time in the near future, I'll definetely put my vote back on him. But I want to be in control of that, hence, it's nowhere right now.
It's good to know that you are the mysterious member. I mentioned earlier that IHMEOY, or rather, the reason why there were X members reading the thread, and then X-1 members were named. With you having been offline at 4:49, and at 4:51 when I refreshed and saw the EBWODP, I'm fairly confident it is you. I don't think there is any conclusion I could possibly draw from this, but I find it odd that you feel the need to hide from us.

@ZDS: Sorry, its a children show over here. I'm sure if you google Blue's Clue's you will find any irrelevant information you need here.
good, that clears that up. A pity though, good luck with your exams. Unvote
Right, my #1 and #2 are Salubrious and Pod in no particular order. I really don't know what to make of Pod. Right now I'm getting a feel from him like Cyan in newb 7. He looks like a newb, but something doesn't fit.
Salubrious is the other other lurker. um, post, k? Vote Salubrious for pressure.

ok, so if someone posts something that I totally agree with 100%, I should just post and say, "I agree with him"? Yes, I know I should post more on here, but I just don't see the point of posting something when the person before me posted what I was going to say, but only better. If you want pointless repition, then yes, I'll give that to you.

Look, I'm not saying you should give us nothing but pointless repetitive dribble, but this is your fifth post in the thread. Even nymphe has posted 7 times, including his request for a replacement.
Honestly, if all you can post is "I agree with him 100%", I don't really know what to suggest.
how is that an issue Lightster? There are times when all I want to say is "I agree 100%". Lets just get on with the day. I'm all for waiting until Nymphe's replacement arrives, hearing what they have to say, then either another bandwagon or lynching Pod.
Oh and at least hearing from Salubrious too.

I think the issue is that you have to present some kind of original thought, you can't JUST post 'yeah I agree with so and so' for every post you make, that's as suspicious as not posting at all.
Silent Prophet, I know you personally and know that you're intelligent, and I know that you have some take on everything that has gone on so far. I just think you're afraid to say it because people might disagree with you. And they might, but, that's part of Mafia. It doesn't reflect on you as a person, nor as a player. If no one ever put themself in the spotlight, a Mafia game would never go anywhere. So, c'mon, let's hear what you have to say. Does Pod seem suspicious? Why? Was I too aggressive towards him? Why? Is his claim believable? Etc etc. There are plenty of questions to answer.
I am very suspicious of Pod. When it seemed very likely that je would get lynched, he voted for himself, whaich caused everyone else to back off. If I was scum, that is exactly what I would do. I would bluff and hope that at least one or two people would gain the fear of lynching a townie, thus backing off. It was a very good ploy that worked. His explainations for his actions thus far are ALMOST believable to me. I want to vote for him, but on the off chance that I am just thinking too much, (as I so often do), I will just FOS Pod. And while I am at it Un-FOS ZeDorkSlipeur. Not really sure what I was thinking with that one. I will go through and re-read the thread, and post a full summary of my opinion before I go to work.
Nymphe, you don't need my permission to be replaced (as that implies I'll be all "NO! YOU MUST PLAY!") I'll contact Annorax.
Edit (OMG MODKILLS HIMSELF): Annorax has been contacted.
Edit Again! (OMG RECUSSITATES AND KILLS HIMSELF AGAIN): *cough* Annorax replaces Nymphe, effective immediately.
Confirmed.
Give me an hour or so to get up to speed, I've been multitasking, what with being in one game, developing a setup for a future game, photoshopping things... yeah, I've been busy.
After reading the thread through, I've only been able to come to one even weak conclusion so far: Pod is either completely retarded or completely scummy, quite possibly both. Hyram seems to be new to the game and could be scum, although not as likely as Pod.
Big Fruity FoS: Pod.
I've Got My Eye on You, Despite Not Posting Anymore: Hyram
I just got finsihed reading over the majority of the posts, and in almost everyone one of Pod's posts, he says something that get's me more and more suspicious of him. He is playing the same way I probably would if I were scum.
As for my FoS I placed on Lord Rahl towards the beginning of this, I was called to explain, and I realize that I never did yet. I guess I just am naturally suspicious of aggressive players, and he was the most aggressive at that time. I have come to learn that agressive play doesn't always mean scum. I have a hunch on someone else right now, but I will refrain from FoSing, or voting until they give me more concrete evidence.

This was pretty much my thought while initially reading the thread. The only thing that tempered it for me is that this is a n00b game, and Pod's the definition of n00b. I think he's probably idiotic scum, but I'm not 100% sure about it, and I'm not about to do the mafia's job by voting off someone who may be an idiotic townie.

Peregrine Falcon, you forgot to add Cyan's vote to the vote list. He voted for Pod.
Quote from Pod »
Number 2, Salubrious : It seems to me that he's trying too hard to be town. Firstly, at the beginning of the game, he posted some googled information, an easy way to look valuable without actually posting anything strictly relevant to the game.
I also think the way that he just seems to follow the opinions of the more aggressive posters very closely is kinda scummy. There was also his questioning of Mosschop about his random vote from the beginning, which seemed pointless then and does now. I realise FOS'ing someone because they seem too town is a bit weak, but I can't shake the feeling.
If one look back to when Pod posted this, it's clear that he was under a lot of pressure for his self-vote. In that context, his seemingly random FOS of me seems almost diversionary. As for your points:
It seems to me that he's trying too hard to be town. Firstly, at the beginning of the game, he posted some googled information, an easy way to look valuable without actually posting anything strictly relevant to the game.
As a townie, it's my responsibility to help out the town any way I can. Every little bit of information helps, especially in a game like this, where claims are not immediately obvious. That said, I seriously doubt simply posting a list makes me "valuable". You're misrepresenting my intentions, and must doubt the intelligence of the town if you equate posting information with claiming a power role, which would make a player valuable.
Oh, and it was from Wikipedia.>.>
There was also his questioning of Mosschop about his random vote from the beginning, which seemed pointless then and does now.
In the early game, every little bit of information counts. I noticed that while people quickly unvoted their beginning random votes, Mosschop didn't. Though he continued to post, he didn't take his vote off even as the game began to turn serious. This strikes me as scummy, a way to lay the foundations of a bandwagon without providing any arguments for it. That's why I pressed the issue.
For your scummy behavior (already expounded upon by other players) and diversionary tactics, I'm going to have to Vote: Pod. I don't want to accidently lynch a townie, but the evidence seems overwhelming to the contrary.
EDIT WITHIN POST: After typing this post up, I just noticed that it was Hooga voting for me, and not Pod. I still think my arguments are valid though, so I'll leave them up.

Homework is an unfortunate distraction. I'll try to post more.
EBMODB: Oops. Never mind, Peregrine Falcon, I made the mistake, not you.:embarrass:
I am not currently voting for Pod. I unvoted him so that I can decide whether or not I really think he's scum, or just a really awful player(I don't agree w/ lynching someone for the latter). By my count, though, your vote puts Pod at 5 votes...so..if I HAD been voting him, you would have just lynched him.
Silent Prophet, I know you personally and know that you're intelligent, and I know that you have some take on everything that has gone on so far. I just think you're afraid to say it because people might disagree with you.

There are plenty of questions to answer.
As you know AL, and I don't, I can't make such observations. But from what I have seen, I have no grounds to argue that point. Thank you Cyan, you have said that much more eloquently and friendly that I could ever do.
I'm sorry if I came across rudely SP. I don't really know how I could not have, but all the same. Even mild contributions are appreciated. We don't need every post to be 100% original content, just effort towards the greater goal. The point of the game is the interaction, not the in-action. I appologize (again) if I seemed harsh and judgemental, I just really wanted everyone to contribute.

No. We lynch Pod when we are sure Pod is scum. We do not lynch someone because we want to end the day. Xyre recently got himself on the chopping block just to end the day, even though he was townie. While it is better than a power role getting lynched, it was still needless. What this paragraph is not doing is arguing that Pod is innocent or guilty; I am talking about wasting resources.
NINJA EDIT: Alternatively, we lynch Pod when we are sure that it is either him or [someone else] who is scum. 1:1 is also a reasonable cause for lynching a townie, as it gains us much more advantage than it does the scum.
Quote from Cyan »
I am not currently voting for Pod. I unvoted him so that I can decide whether or not I really think he's scum, or just a really awful player(I don't agree w/ lynching someone for the latter). By my count, though, your vote puts Pod at 5 votes...so..if I HAD been voting him, you would have just lynched him.
I noticed that even though your count was off, you didn't try to lynch him. What changed? You recently just stated that if Pod got to 5 votes again, you would instantly lynch him.
The only thing that I have seen that has changed recently is how much attention is being directed at you. I can think of two explanations for this;.
One, you have realized that with how much heat you have taken from this, if he turns up town, it will put you in a very bad spot. I think you are hoping to reprieve yourself. Arguing that this makes you look scummy and not townie is WIFOM.
Like I said above, needlessly killing a townie is wasteful; If Cyan is town, then killing himself now to kill Pod is wasteful if he can just wait and kill Pod without sacrificing himself. Time is on the town's side.
And just so I'm not painting Cyan too rosey of a picture, I also said above that 1:1 with town is not great for the scum. If Cyan is scum, then he will want things to cool down a bit more just so he isn't lynched at sunrise tomorrow.
I dont think Annorax or Lightster ever voted for me.
After reading Salubrious' analysis, I've realized that I probably didn't quite get the right read from certain people's actions in catching up with this game. Everything you do seems more and more scummy to me, and I've hit the point where lynching you seems like the best way to hit scum. You passed "shadow of a doubt" long ago, and are approaching 100% certainty.
Vote: Pod.

Oh, I thought you had 1 more vote, weird. My apologies.
Also, just to clarify, I DO think you are scum, which I've said repeatedly. I think it's possible that you're just an awful player, but, I still think you're scum currently. So no, I'm not trying to work your wagon behind the scenes or anything like that. I think you are scum more than I think you are a bad player.
Also, I've reconsidered my position. I'm not going to be the final vote on you. If that happens and you DO turn up town(so unlikely), I'm like guaranteed to be lynched tomorrow. I look bad enough as it is, but, I'd rather give the you benefit of the doubt than put my own neck on the line anymore.
Read the past couple of pages, my name has been mentioned a significant amount of times in relation to the Pod bandwagon..much moreso than anybody else. And while I do genuinely believe that he's scum(and I do), I do recognize the possibility that he could simply be a bad player..even after he was at 5 votes, and such, he continues to act scummy..it's hard to believe that he could be that clueless, and it makes me second guess the situation just enough that I'm not comfortable voting him.
I find your pushing me to lynch somebody else(it would be a lynch, he is at 5 votes for sure now) highly suspicious, however...it's one thing to think a person is scum, it's entirely another to try and intimidate another person into being the LAST vote on somebody. Honestly, I think that might be the scummiest play that I've seen all day. Vote ZeDorkSlipeur.

@ Lord Rahl, Back-up roles, while not so common, I wouldn't peg as being unlikely. Afterall, the setup for this game could include any number of:

Extendo
Pod's behavior is really interesting, and I'm not entirely sure what to make of it. He could be either town or mafia. Right now I'm leaning toward scum, but considering this is a newb mafia game, Pod could just as easily be an inexperienced townie, as we all are. The problem is that we don't really have such a developed case on any other person. Although Hooga's comment interests me:
I wouldn't have noticed it by myself, but I think it's a fair question.
By kingcobweb and Goblinboy.
Official Elitist of [thread=40859][RBS][/thread]
Townies rarely need to use WIFOM anyway, it's mostly a scum tactic. I think it is all WIFOM, and it seems to have succeeded, unfortunately.
Extendo

Also, I still think Pod is scum, but I guess that will have to wait until later. Of course, it'll be hard to get much information from him, since he seems to have essentially stopped posting since he was almost lynched...which I also find suspicious..but whatever.
With my sincerest apologies,
Nymphe
P.S. I'm really not into any kinky stuff
Anyway..please explain better the things that I addressed above.
..it's just mind-boggling, especially the part where you explain why you are a good lynch.
I had noticed that all of your posts thus far had been on this mafia, and suspected it might be that. We'll be sad to see you go, and hopefully the next time you try this out, it will work out better for you
On that note...

Request for mod-prod, again
Read above.
Maybe just let it build up a bit, and then go after it again. I agree with you that this is a bad to lynch him, assuming we ever should. I have posted my reasons for believing his claim.
Noted. Odd, but noted. I advise you to rethink this every once in a while, but if you continue to feel it is the right decision, forge ahead.

Off topic: Yay! I just opened my easter basket (I only got it today, and I wasn't even expecting one at all), and not only was there a chocolate bunny. but there was also... a handy-dandy, note book! (Holds it out in a classic Steve, from Blue's Clue's pose. (Kudo's if you knew my name was Steve, bonus kudo's if you even realized it was the same as the Blue's Clue's character already). "Let's see if we can find us some clues!"
@ZDS: Sorry, its a children show over here. I'm sure if you google Blue's Clue's you will find any irrelevant information you need here.

Official Deschanel Stalker of The Called
This was pretty much my thought while initially reading the thread. The only thing that tempered it for me is that this is a n00b game, and Pod's the definition of n00b. I think he's probably idiotic scum, but I'm not 100% sure about it, and I'm not about to do the mafia's job by voting off someone who may be an idiotic townie.

If one look back to when Pod posted this, it's clear that he was under a lot of pressure for his self-vote. In that context, his seemingly random FOS of me seems almost diversionary. As for your points:
As a townie, it's my responsibility to help out the town any way I can. Every little bit of information helps, especially in a game like this, where claims are not immediately obvious. That said, I seriously doubt simply posting a list makes me "valuable". You're misrepresenting my intentions, and must doubt the intelligence of the town if you equate posting information with claiming a power role, which would make a player valuable.
Oh, and it was from Wikipedia.>.>

Vote: Pod.
https://twitch.tv/annorax10 (classic retro speedruns & occasional MTGO/MTGA screwaround streams)
https://twitch.tv/SwiftorCasino (yes, my team and I run live dealer games for the baldman using his channel points as chips)
