Diggy's flavor to ability/role makes little sense. I was suspicious of him days ago, and that really hasn't changed much, but it's mainly due to his "I have nothing to add" playstyle, and the fact that he manages to show up whenever his name is brought up for discussion. I have a hard time seeing his ability on scum, but it is a larger game, so there's more margin for error on the town's side. Of course, I couldn't see a random-death, unlynchable (for now) character, either, but we have one, so who knows?
@Puzzle: Mathematically, the more people you have, the more townies there are, and the harder it is to lose as a town (barring mis-firing vigs). The mafia doesn't get more kills/night, typically, so statistically speaking, the town has more room for error in bigger games than they do in Minis. A mafiaso with the ability to steal votes in a 12 person game would be almost broken, as the endgame comes more quickly. One with the ability to do so in a 20 person game is slightly less powerful (although still good).
@Puzzle: You've turned my logical statement about the statistics of a larger mafia game vs. a smaller one into a straw-man argument about lynching a vanilla townie? Sorry, I don't follow, nor did I say
Quote from Puzzle »
should we lynch a claimed vanilla (who resists lynches only as long as another player votes for him) without much remorse ?
at all.
Yes, the ability is generally a townish one, but it certainly doesn't prohibit it from being on a mafiaso. Just as it doesn't prevent, say, Holmes from being a mason scum (Sin City), Absolutionis from being a posting-restricted mafiaso (that's usually town), Beaker from being a scummy liar (plausible here), nor you from being mafia claiming cop when there wasn't one to start with (you're not confirmed). While that's all very unlikely, there are a number of possibilities out there.
However, I'm banking more on what I've seen within this game, and that's the fact that diggy appears very suspicious to me, and we're nearing a deadline. He's the best candidate, IMHO.
Fair enough- but I'm certainly not advocating we actively make mistakes, obv, just to clear that up. I'm not pushing to lynch someone I think is town (see below). That would be irresponsible.
Truthfully, though, role/ability aside, have you seen anyone more suspicious than diggy? I haven't- and I've pointed it out since I joined. Beaker is probably a close second. They both have a spotty voting history, and lurkerness. Beaker, however, occassionally makes a coherent post with some detail or a PBPA, or some feeling of what he thinks is going on. I don't recall a post of diggy's with any content, really. I just get the feeling he's trying to hide under the radar, but can't help getting involved in the votes (since his ability revolves around them).
For the record, my vote stands; and it's because I think diggy is scum. While his ability may seem, on the surface, townie-like, this "isn't your grandmother's game of mafia" (from page 1).
If you have a better plan, Puzzle, now would be the time to let us in on it. It's going to be hard to convince me that at least one of these two (diggy/beaker) isn't scum- and potentially both.
Well, in fairness, I think he has demonstrated it, Mr. Frogman. But the person he "forces" can still switch their vote later.
Didn't mafia have that in Sin City? I didn't read that whole thing.:o
Actually, the townie masons had that ability.
In regards to the post restiction deal: Usually if there is a post restricting, it's because of a powerful ability, or is there to balance out a powerful town/mafia setup. And there are usually more than one restriction.

Someone needs to die. Now. We have little to go on, and a deadline. Flavor is going to have to cut it as reason for lynch. Remember Machin Shin was an obscure character as well. So lets all get together in the next few hours and Vote: Diggy
night one I targetted twomz, and night 3 I targetted puzzle
@cp: if the deadline comes, do we get a no-lynch? or is the highest vote-getter lynched??
1. First I'd like to try and answer your question. Generally the highest vote-getter gets lynched. I am not sure if that is the case now, but in the games I've played (not many) and the ones I've lurked (not many) it has been that way. Correct me if I'm wrong.
2. Is it just coincedence that you "targetted" two people that can't confirm? one happens to be dead, and the other was blocked and already said that he had no target. Or are you scum and didn't know what to put, so just put two people who seemed plausible but couldn't confirm you? This actually looks suspicious.
Quote from Kenji »
A_H, if you hadn't claimed Arthur Dent I would seriously condone vigging you right now....
Agreed...
Anyway, I think we have two leads right now. I am not convinced that Diggy is scum, because of his ability, but as it has been pointed out, that could be found on a scum. I think his flavor is really weak, in addition. Yes, people might want to help you, as your flavor tries to explain, but would they really sacrifice themselves (give up their vote) which is a possibility. Plus, it seems like it wouldn't be in your character to "steal" a vote. The mariner seems to be regretful, and his curse is to wander the earth spreading good by telling his story and making sure that they don't follow his path. This spreading good doesn't seem to mesh with the vote stealing that we know is your ability.
Now, Beaker on the other hand, has good flavor. His nameclaim and ability seem to fit together. It is likely that Ford Prefect is in the game, although not sure. The negative things about Beaker are his overall scumminess (I think he has acted scummier than Diggy, but that might be because I see his posts more, whereas Diggy just lurks and hides in the shadows.). The other thing against him is the fact that his ability can't necessarily be tested easily. We would have to wait at least another 2 days, because he seems to only work on odd days, (or he was stupid enough to not target on night 2, which seems unlikely). And with that, he can just claim that he targetted someone who died in the night. So this isn't easily tested. Although we could have WoLG watch him...
I am not quite sure what to think about either of them. In my mind, they are both scummy figures. As to which is the better lynch for today, I think I am going to have to go with Diggy. His lack of flavor really isn't good, and he hasn't actually posted much content. When it was asked where he was, at one point he just said, "I'm not MIA, i'm following along waiting for the right moment to strike at the mafia whoever they may be" (post 1359) That doesn't give us anything, at all.
@Diggy: On a not-so-aside note, do you believe Beakers claim, or do you still think we should lynch him? (I'll tell you why I ask this after he responds)
A_H, if you hadn't claimed Arthur Dent I would seriously condone vigging you right now....
Hey, you're a confirmed townie. I'll bet if you came up with a name people would follow you. Seriously. We are running out of time. If you don't like my choice for a lynch, find someone else. Just shooting down my idea isn't helping. Whoever it is, we need to lynch them soon. Today.
What?! Look at the initial post; he is dead. Deceased. Kaputt. Indefinitely horizontal. In mafia games, you see, people are occasionally "killed off," and when that sad event occurs, he or she is no longer allowed to post, on account of rigor mortis and what-have-you.
'Welcome to Mafia Salvation', it said, 'Population: 3,660.' And someone, they never figured out who, had painted on the sign in red letters: '1,831 to lynch.'
Due to the replacement, the dealine has been pushed back until Friday at noon. However, this day has been going on for 12 days and we've only got 150 posts, so we're definitely in need of something to keep the day going. Just keep it in mind. If there is no majority, the day will end in no lynch.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I have no idea what you're talking about, WoLG. If this is relevant to the game, PM me.

Is it just me, or are we trying to lynch someone with a confirmable role?
what do you mean, here?
Yes, we have confirmed that he can take people's votes (I remember him proving this either day 1 or 2 (I don't remember)). But we can't confirm that he is town. The name that he provided does not fit the flavor of his role adequately, and that is why I am voting him. I also see that he hasn't shown up that much, and each time he doesn't have that much content.
I still need to finish a reread but in about 80 posts dyh is going to hit the dust.
And I just realized he died since I stopped following the game, nice.
Ok, well that kind of confirms what me and Puzzle were going on about earlier. Are there any other deaths coming up that you know of?
@ Carrion: Ignore that, I actually forgot I posted the second part, slight mental issues at school at the time. It's was just supposed to request a vote count, and I have no idea why I phrased it like that.

Curse you Chamber! You killed Az! In other news, I am afraid to post now.
Kenji: It was snide, but no offense was meant. I don't want a no lynch for today. I'm eager to prevent that. If I'm eager to do the right thing, then what's the problem? If I'm eager to do the wrong thing, show me the error of my ways.
Umm...because Chamber put a time bomb on DYH's spine. It's set to explode soon.
That pretty much covers it Im about half way through this monster of a thread, I'll post what I think and answer any questiosn when I'm done, hopefully later tonight.
And why exactly is this obv? The character chamber is playing now has nothing to do with the death of DYH. If anything, you should be voting Fayul, who is the next replacement.
Oh yeah, Chamber, arn't you supposed to be posting in all caps? (Isn't it against some forum rule to post all huge like that?)
Oh yeah, and I love how chamber (actually no one right now) is saying to stop posting, now that we know for sure that someone will die.

Thank you for wasting our post deadline until DYH dies. I've been on a whole bunch today, but I have tried to refrain from posting to not kill DYH sooner. But I thought I should post to tell people to stop posting (yes, I know it is hypocritical), but we need to avoid these posts, at least for now. Well, it is likely that DYH will come back to life, or so it seems. Maybe he only comes back when he gets lynched or something. I don't know, and I presume no one but him (and C_P) do, so let's avoid killing him if possible.
Now, there are like 3 things I would like to adress somewhat quickly:
1) To clear up the situation, as I understand it, so we can avoid posts like holmes's. Chamber has set a timebomb to go off at some number of posts. When that number is reached, our friend DYH will die. From what he said, that will be within the next 40-50 posts. That can go quickly, and we don't really want it to.
2) I would like to hear at least one post on the gamestate by chamber soon, and a subsequent one by DYH to hopefully comment on what chamber says. I think that will be useful. Although I'm not necessarily sure that we have time to wait for chamber. Although it would be nice if he could get on that. (I know, it takes a long time to read all of that, so I am not blaming you for being slow)
3) Stop posting, unless you have content.
4) Do not make short, useless posts (yes, I know I said 3)
5) Only post large posts that add a lot to the gamestate (yes, I know I said 3)
Okay, I think that is all. For now.
oh, and @ chamber. I realize that you have to post big (or it sure as hell looks like a restriction). But when you do a long post, please cut down how big you do it, please. Or do it in bold, or something so it doesn't take up the entire page. Thanks
A reminder. There is a deadline imposed for 38 hours from now, and I have no intention of retracting it. If you want to lynch someone, you'd better get to it.

okay, I just realized that I forgot about this. Well, even though I warned about not posting without content, we do still need to do something today, because a No Lynch is a very bad plan. With that taken into consideration, we still don't want to post meaningless stuff, it still should have content. But I didn't want to come accross as wanting a No Lynch and saying no one should post until chamber and DYH get a chance. I think that we need to do something today, wheter or not it kills DYH in the process. It just would be nice to have his comments before he goes.

Good luck getting a lynch on Armlx at this stage. What was the point of that? And since getting No Lynch is only going to screw us. Diggy's the only realistic choice. And it's not like I haven't been suspicious of him since day 1.
Chamber, for you I have a question
concerning Diggy and our impression
You seem to label him as "good guy"
for this I must ask why...
I'm quite shaky on who to vote for
so why do you see him as someone to adore?
I don't see much scumy actions comming from him, and he has an ability that would be, in my opinion, to strong for scum. Most of the accusations seem to be based solely on flavor, which is the poorest reason I can think of. BTW I would rather see armlx lynched then myself or diggy so unvote vote:armlx
Does the person with the most votes die at then end of the day? I seem to have forgotten if that was the case or not. It looks like diggy is at 7 votes though.

As stated twelve posts ago by the mod, if we don't lynch somone, we'll have a no lynch day.
Actually, I don't see anything else possibly happening now, so rather than giving scums a free kill before taking over where we would have left : unvote Beaker, vote Diggy.
Puzzle I really expect you to know better then this. No lynch is better then lynching likely town this late in the game when the town is already so far behind.
If we go No Lynch, what happens ? We lose someone in the night.
And then ? Then, we take over at the point where we were, with one less townie for sure.
No thanks.
As for Diggy, I've got the bad feeling that he is indeed town but at least we didn't waste a day and have a wagon to analyze, which, yes, includes me.
This way of thinking, in my opinion, is so anti-town that Im starting to doubt my doubts in you. If you think diggy is town why are you lynching him? I think we can already safely analyze this wagon and assume diggys town. Really by following through with this lynch we are just losing ANOTHER pro-town player.
You see a pinprick of light in the sky descending towards your position, and many of you start to panic.
"Him! He looks like scum!" several of you say, all pointing at different people. As the point in the sky grows, you all become more and more anxious to finish someone off. Eventually, indecision grips you.
The pinprick turns into a spaceship, and you all form a circle around where it looks like it will land. Right before it lands, Puzzle shouts, "NOW!" and he shoves Diggy from behind right underneath the ship. There a sickening crunch as his skull caves in under the pressure.
The ship immediately recoils, as though in horror, and moves over to the other side of the clearing. "You're the contestants, right? We've been looking for you everywhere. Get on."
Grateful to leave this planet, you have one thing to check first. A quick check of Diggy's belongings reveals a short list of names, most of which do not sound familiar. The ones that do, seem to be crossed off: Elvis and Dirk Gently. You aren't quite sure what to make of it.
Happy to be back aboard the ship, most of you had collapsed in your quarters and tried to sleep the experience off. Time would show that it wasn't over yet, however.
You gather on the bridge after several hours of sleep to find out that your pilot has set a course for the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, muttering under his breath about how late everyone was. It seems that you weren't supposed to have arrived at Llamuella for a few days yet. Oh well.
A quick count, however, only comes up with eleven contestants left. With increasing dread, you approach the quarters of Abandon Hope, Kenji, and draygn_mage.
D_M is nowhere to be found, but loud sounds were coming from AH's room. You pry open the locked door, and find a sight too astonishing to be believed. Kenji is using an oversized golf club to repeatedly bash in AH's head. Of course, most of his head has been splattered all over the room by now, but that hasn't stopped Kenji. He glances over at everyone staring at him in shock, and says, "Hi guys. Nice morning, isn't it?"
At that exact moment, one of you runs up, saying that he's found D_M. He leads you down to the furnace room (this is a very old spaceship) where D_M's remains have clearly been immolated for the past several hours. You can still see broken scraps of metal and little pools of melted plastic everywhere.
Abandon Hope, AKA Arthur Dent, super townie, is dead. draygn_mage, AKA Marvin, town naysayer, is dead. Kenji is innocent. Honestly. It is now Day 5. With 12 alive, it is 7 to lynch.
Wow... That sucks. The question is, do we follow the mod and agree that Kenji is town. Then again, what are really the connotations of "innocent" it doesn't necessarily mean town or wanting to kill scum. If he happens to be a neutral who kills townies at random points, then he needs do die. However, it would be nice if we could get another scum. We are not doing very well, at this point.
With Diggy being who he truly said he was, it is somewhat confirmed that flavor isn't being strictly followed, because his role doesn't follow from his name. That makes it a lot harder to procede.
Well, Kenji, I thought it was perfectly clear that AH was in some sort of a Tom+Jerry relationship with me, and as such, however misguided, was a townie, too. Little happy on the trigger, there? Perhaps it's time for you to explain a bit. You lucked out with the pseudo-counter-name-claim of Machin Shin, but this was a big boo-boo. (as we've lost our "super-townie"?)
I guess DM's role name explains his "no, no, no" attitude.
Diggy's flavor to ability/role makes little sense. I was suspicious of him days ago, and that really hasn't changed much, but it's mainly due to his "I have nothing to add" playstyle, and the fact that he manages to show up whenever his name is brought up for discussion. Umm...because Chamber put a time bomb on DYH's spine. It's set to explode soon.

That pretty much covers it Im about half way through this monster of a thread, I'll post what I think and answer any questiosn when I'm done, hopefully later tonight.
Town/Mafia/Other - 14/6/3
Win/Lose/Tie - 11/12/0
Nk/lynched/Survived - 16/4/3
Should be obv.....

That is all.
Thanks

okay, I just realized that I forgot about this.

Win/Lose/Tie - 11/12/0
Nk/lynched/Survived - 16/4/3
Good luck getting a lynch on Armlx at this stage. What was the point of that? And since getting No Lynch is only going to screw us. Diggy's the only realistic choice. And it's not like I haven't been suspicious of him since day 1.
Vote: Diggy.

concerning Diggy and our impression
You seem to label him as "good guy"
for this I must ask why...
I'm quite shaky on who to vote for
so why do you see him as someone to adore?
I don't see much scumy actions comming from him, and he has an ability that would be, in my opinion, to strong for scum. Most of the accusations seem to be based solely on flavor, which is the poorest reason I can think of. BTW I would rather see armlx lynched then myself or diggy so unvote vote:armlx

Holmes vote is the 7th on Diggy, and I hate to see a day end in no lunch.
Unvote
The deadline seems to be 8 hours from now if I can add correctly, but I just woke up, so who knows. I can check back in around 4-5 hours from now, if there is no decision yet, I'll see about it...

Puzzle I really expect you to know better then this. No lynch is better then lynching likely town this late in the game when the town is already so far behind.
Town/Mafia/Other - 14/6/3
Win/Lose/Tie - 11/12/0
Nk/lynched/Survived - 16/4/3
This way of thinking, in my opinion, is so anti-town that Im starting to doubt my doubts in you. If you think diggy is town why are you lynching him? I think we can already safely analyze this wagon and assume diggys town. Really by following through with this lynch we are just losing ANOTHER pro-town player.

Vote Count
1 Abandon Hope - (That Which Squeaks)
8 Diggy - (Kenji, Absolutionis, draygn_mage, Disrupt_Your_Hymn, Abandon Hope, avabob, Holmes, Puzzle)

With Diggy being who he truly said he was, it is somewhat confirmed that flavor isn't being strictly followed, because his role doesn't follow from his name. That makes it a lot harder to procede.

I guess DM's role name explains his "no, no, no" attitude.
